Not really, depends on the version, L85A1 sucked due to poor quality control when making the rifle but L85A2 was quite popular. I know many British soldiers that like the L85.
This sucks so much. As if you weren't able to design your loadout before departing. No scopes on your rifle? What special forces operator would do that?
Wish ubi would listen to the community a bit more and lock less stuff behind a paywall and stuff, but it's still a very fun game and I'm glad they're still updating it regularly
I think it did worse than it should have because of negative reviews and people saying it got boring really quickly, but when ubi adds things like the predator mission or the sam fisher mission for free nobody says anything
I never got bored of this game. Not because the gameplay was fun, but because I never got tired of exploring the gorgeous world they created. From the swamplands, to the jungles, to the deserts, to the saltlands, to the snowy mountains, it was gorgeous vista after gorgeous vista. If nothing else, Ubisoft displayed what can be recreated "although modified" with todays hardware and we will eventually reach a point where we can explore near photorealistic versions of places we will likely never get to go to irl. This game has me excited about the future of graphics and world building. I'm hoping that games like this sell well because it will encourage more studios to recreate real world locations or modified versions of real world locations, in their games. So far, Ubisoft and Rockstar are the only studios that do it.
Jacen Solo It was rough period in time but in the end we made it through. The video games don’t do the Human Covenant War Justice. After the first year all military personnel were using Human Sidearms and Covenant Weapons. Turns out “The Flood” was just a common cold
Glocks -they have internal safeties, but I wouldn't consider them a nanny-state gun. They need those to be drop safe because they are striker fired, instead of DA/SA. The .50 Cal HTI - I hate the way they blow helos and trucks up with one shot. They should've put in shoulder-fired weapons if they wanted players to be able to do this. Thanks for making this vid sir. And thanks to Darkchild for his knowledge.
Agreed. If you pull the trigger on a loaded Glock its going to go bang. I mean, I don't understand how someone could even fathom it's a weapon for a "nanny state".
well I'm no operator or anything I have served and I feel he may have served but his assessment of glock kind of ruined his credibility with me I don't think he did much but listen to the real deal and retale their stories
I never use the HTI on the air raid missions Cuz you could accidentally hit the chopper/plane and it would blow up. mission failed, well get em next time
I’ll have to disagree with him on the, patrol patterns and stuff. I remember scouting out a rather large base for a high value target, (On Ghost mode, extreme difficulty. So I can’t die or I restart the entire game.) I remember I was laying down on that mountain for like, 5 in-game days. But every day the soldiers there would actually go and eat at one building. They would always leave their post to go and eat. Keep in mind this was a extraction mission, and the captain there wouldn’t go to eat, so at that time when everyone was eating I snuck into his office, grabbed the captain, but at the worst possible time someone nocked on my door (IRL), so when I had to go get it, the lunch (In game) ended, so I got back too each guard going back to their post. One of them (or two, I can’t quite remember) were guarded the door, one floor down. I had two options either wait another in game day, and wait for them to go and eat lunch. OR, ask one of my friends who were the one who told me the guards were coming back from lunch, I was pretty worried that the AI may just randomly enter the room so I asked one of them to plant so C4, Mines, Prox, all that and a few flares (I really wanted them to go all out). Sadly only one of my friends had C4, and Mines, and the other had Prox’s and flares. So after a bit of an argument they said they would both each do their thing. So after waiting another in-game day they planted the explosives, and after re-telling the plan, we shot the flair, and there wasn’t really any going back. They tossed a few grenades into the “pile” of explosives, I took the target out of the office the two (or one again, can’t really remember) were gone, and I tried to get the hostage to the chopper close to the office, (I say close but in reality it was the worst case possible) literally about to press E to put him in the chopper but once more, when it could get any worse there was anti-air few a few meters to the choppers left and, as I was putting the hostage in the chopper so he couldn’t move as I went to disable to anti-air, the words “engaged,” popped up on my map and I just witnessed my two friend booking it towards me, a hail storm of bullets were close as to hitting them. They just screamed into their mics, “FUCK THE CHOPPER,” and “GET INTO THE VAN,” I remember I was going to argue, but I looks at my mini-map from the corner of my eye, and there may have been around 10 purple dots, closing in on the gate entrance, I just grabbed the hostage, booking it to the closest van, (it had a mini-gun on it, but none of us wanted to take the chance of being exposed, at the time) my friend was the driver, and I just threw the hostage into the back seat, then my friend just started to drive like a bat out of hell, I mean he didn’t give a shit, about what was in front of us. We got to have killed about 4 enemy’s just driving threw the gate, now we had like 2 purple patrol thing (I don’t remember what they’re called and I can’t spell the name of the enemy’s but I know they were the purple ones) so we were being tailed by two hostile cars, thankfully non had mini-guns (for now) I looked at the cars and suddenly my friend just said, “fuck it” switched to the mini-gun and mowed those cars down. Happy ending. Right? Wrong. The Patrol rating thing went up to 3, my friend (the Driver, not the gunner) was flipping the fuck out I just kept saying “Deep breaths man, deep breathes.” Yeah... It didn’t work we were driving over a mountain road, (The ones that wrap around the mountain, they’re super slim) and then a mini-gun van started to come around the mountain. Now I know that bullets can go threw car doors and stuff. By now the gunner friend dipped backed into the car and he also New the bullets could go threw doors and such so. What would be the most logical thing to do? Tell the driver to drive the van off the mountain. He did. Thankfully the mountain wasn’t that steep. But it wasn’t exactly preferable either, it was a bit steep, (like 45% steep. If that makes sense?) and tree’s and rocks infested it. I think one of them were praying, so that was pretty funny. But anyways we came to stop after hitting a big as rock, after that we had to get out of that flaming car from (what looked like it) was from Hell. It exploded, the hostage was alive, so was I along with my other friend one was pretty low. We waited for him to heal up, wasn’t that bad. My driver friend now had the hostage, and we had to plan out a path the the closet road. We got there. We got a car, and just as we were closing in on the safe house, the beat up car we were forced to use got hit by car, we survived, but my god my heart skipped like ten fucking, beets. After having to grab another car, we made it to the safe house. All because someone nocked in my door.
I wore a chest rig for years when on recces when not in body armour. Wear it properly, ie on your chest, not your belly, and it doesn't give you any problems.
I don't want to make assumptions, but I imagine you get more issues if you don't have an athletic build. either way, whatever works for you dude, 99% of the Army wears belt kit and I hate it, so yeah.
holy hell when he mentioned baby wipes I laughed out loud. Served in south korean army and they are crazy about facial camo creams. We used to bring around boxes of baby wipes every training ops lol I got away by using camo masks that covers my entire head when I got promoted to sergeant but most cant handle the feeling.
Darkdally korean armies are crazy about facial camo creams and we have to paste that shit on our faces every single training ops. It is just annoying af and it doesnt get washed away easily. Only way to wipe it away in field or during training is baby wipes.
That was pretty interesting. I served in the German Military for some years and try to play Wildlands as realistically as possible. If you ever do as second video with him. I’d liked to know about his HUD settings.
What's interesting about many of his comments on the gear choices available is that Ubisoft has already modeled many of that kit into the game. However it's on the icons exclusively. For instance, Bookhart wears a chest rig. The helmets, plate carriers, backpacks, camos, ect. from the icons, especially the Rainbow Six Siege operators, should be made available as separate items for the customization of our Ghosts. They've already done this with a few pieces of kit already, like the Future Soldier cross com shades and the Sonar Goggles from the Sam Fisher costume.
I have aspirations to join the Australian Army, I enjoy this game and other war based entertainment but know that the real thing will be most likely different from my expectations. Listening to people with real experience helps me understand what I might be getting myself into, but I will not give up and will only make decisions on my future after experiencing the real thing
serving in the military is a real experience that nothing can ever replace. If you're thinking about it, then I say you should do it and see where it leads.
I got a friend who works as an chief for the RAA (Royal Australian Army) and as far as what I've seen it's definitely worth going for like dark said above. Only thing to be aware of is (depending on the job you're going for) possibly getting PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and of course disease as well as other mental disorders/illnesses due to the way war can change your mind especially if you're in a job that requires a lot of CQC. However, I'm not in the army and I think it's great you wanna fight for our country, just saying to be careful of how war can really affect you.
The Great Sloth Lord Yeah mate I get what you’re saying, anyone can say they won’t let the bad experiences affect them, but no one knows what will happen until it does. But if god forbid something in me breaks, I’ll remember that I have family and friends here at home that will help , no one is ever alone in this world
The damage should have been based on what caliber or mm it shoots and what barrel it's using. Yes the barrel does make a difference in the game but I don't think it's accurate.
Probably they ask their military advisors and they decide what things give stats. And then they add random stats to it, not the "real life stats" a weapon would have.
7.62 goes straight through / 5.56 bounce around inside. 5.56 are designed and employed to incapacitate and overload medical tents and the surgeons etc. 7.62 are designed and employed for high penetration kill shots. Its a moot point, there are other factors than the damage.
7.62 kills too much, pretty sure that's why we moved from SLR to SA80. .556 is very unlikely to take limbs off but 7.62 takes big chunks off and will easily take arms/legs off if it hits bone. .556 ammo also lighter to carry and I'm pretty sure it has a flatter trajectory out to around 400m. Wouldn't want to engage much further though, 600-800m at a push (there were some long barely variants knocking about in Afghan when my dad was out there) They seriously could have gone with another .556 option though🙄 No expert by any means just general experience, feel free to correct me if you know otherwise👍
@@scotwilson4169 I was in service in the UK when MOD began the switch over from 7.62 SLRs to 5.56 Bullpups. The reasoning we were given had little to do with (overseas) battlefield operations and a lot more to do with home country installations defence - 5.56 was easier to keep discharged shots within the boundary fence, as opposed to 7.62 landing up to 3 miles away (inaccurately and ineffectively - true, but it could still travel that far). At the time, that was the main consideration being trickled down to the troops. I also remember we despised the Bullpups on parade grounds - more of those could be dropped accidentally on a single parade rehearsal than the total of 7.62s dropped servicewide throughout the cold war.
He sounds suspiciously familiar. Was he in Jordan in 2013? Im was stationed there as an ARFF in the AirForce. There was a singularly clever British individual with an equally clever (and personally chosen) callsign I had the pleasure of meeting in the mealtent during my time there. Would be funny if they are the same person....lol
Thank you for the informative video. I try to play Ghost Recon as real as possible within the games parameters.Good to hear an actual professional's opinion and input. Keep up the great work.
To be honest the average player they will have no idea about rigs.... And probably enough customisation compared to other games.....never going to be a real simulation game anyway
There are some legal issues when making video games (and movies, and books). Let's say you want to make a simulator with Green Berets techniques. If you release such game in the US they can put it out of the shelves due to some military tecniques being secret. They can also harass the company with law suits, since it is very unlikely anyone from the military who is active was spilling the beans. Considering also that logos, uniforms and guns are copyright, patented and trademarked no company will be willing to work with such developer anymore. Some time ago developers from Arma III got arrested in Greece because they wanted their game to be as close to reality as possible. That is not something any military or law enforcement agency is willing to give. A part of their training is done is secrecy because it allows that group to have an edge. www.polygon.com/2013/2/8/3968814/arma-3-developers-arrested-for-spying-on-military-in-greece Video games can become more realistic in the aesthetic sense. Still they are more likely to end up being John Wick than the actual combat ever will be. No developer want to burn bridges with any gov. in the name of authenticity.
Anderson Andrighi That's exactly what happend to Medal of Honor War fighter series the Afghanistan one. Tier 1 operators helped in authenticity, and development of the game. The operators were then sued and chastised by the Government.
Yeah, Darkchild and I both have the LVOA-C Bad News equipped in the video, actually - at the start. We'd so love to see one that you could customize. It would be the most accurate rifle, from my testing, if we could put a longer barrel on it, or even just a rangefinder
Actually that would be an interesting mechanic if you had to break apart 50 cal anti-material rifles into 2 parts and set it up as a team. If anyone remembers the campaign from Medal of Honor (2010), the Delta Force guys mounted their M107s on the front bumper of their ATVs. That would be a cool option as well.
This was interesting to hear, a nice candid discussion about immersion come realism in GR:Wildlands. Now, I love the older games personally, even though they kick my arse and while I was okay with GR, Rainbow Six etc on PS1 as a kid, as an adult on PC I just can't get through them. PC GRAW and GRAW 2 are about my pace, even then I find them tough. But thats the fun and challenge. Modern shooters will always aim for "Hollywood" over "real life", unless its a MP only game. I'm not keen on MP, we need more SP games outside of Arma that offers proper tactical realism.
GRAW was really fun. I think the favorite thing I did was go on riverbed with as many enemies as possible camp a boulder in the corner of the map with a drone overhead. It forced you to be decent at reacting. If you get rushed from both sides, rush one side back to buy time since turning was slow. It pretty much is the reason I'm good at airsoft. I set up ambushes like that, but I can have two guns or a gun and a melee and cover both ways at the same time, from positions people rounding the corner can't react to.
LeiFlux07 I feel that gamers have become lazy and want gameplay to be laid out for them in an easy Hollywood style fashion that eliminates the gamer from problem solving and critical thinking. This is why I don't play Call of Duty.
Such a sick video, man you deserve to be a way bigger channel. Your content is great. By far one of my favourite channels not just for wildlands but gaming overall 💯
Still playing to this day. Well keep coming back to play this game I should say. Thank you for your service both of you. My grandfather was a drill sergeant in the army and I’ve always much much much respected the military. So again thank you.
The biggest concern with carrying multiple weapon systems is the weight of your gear. Both times I deployed I was carrying in excess of 100lbs of gear if you include the weight of my pack. As a 240 gunner on my first trip I carried at least 105lbs of gear usually more with the bulk of the weight coming from the weapon system and ammunition which if you were curious to know, 100 rounds of 7.62 weighs exactly 7.6lbs so you’re looking at around 40lbs in ammunition, close to 30lbs for the weapon, another 22lbs for the iba or plate carrier, your helmet weighs about 8lbs. Then your side arm and ammunition, water, food, extra cloths if needed. I was in a pretty mountainous area so it was a bit cold forcing us to bring cold weather gear for our night time reconnaissance from the top of a mountain in preparation for a morning patrol into town or a village
They do use a Crye Precision plate carrier its just not labeled “Crye.” It’s called the “JPC” in the game which is what Crye calls their “Jumpable Plate Carrier.”
Yeah, look at the date on the video. It may have been the popularity of this vid and the suggestion from my friend that helped get it in the game. At the time of this vid it was not in the game. Thanks.
Bald Brad only messing with ya hahaha heard you were up the North i don't take kindly to that but I'm trying to change my Republican mind set and also my grandmother is English so it's kinda fucked haha 😂
Not a gas pumper, but I met one once. The point is, while there's some similarities, we'd do well to go to the source than get it from someone way up over yonder where "you need a loicense to wroite that tweet, bruv."
This may be one of your top 3 Wildlands videos. I still play the game though mostly 4v4. Thank you for bringing your friend in and getting his perspective. Have a good weekend and see You in the Wildlands.
As a Veteran I started off watching this vid with extreme scepticism, especially when Darkdally mentioned DarkChild was a UK Recce veteran etc. Glad to say this was a very informative and knowledgeable account of the game and reality. Simper Fi Darkdally and good effort DarkChild, nice one.
In the actual universe ghost recon is several tiers above the navy seals. They have nothing in common with something as low as force recon they also have actual huds built into their glasses. Ubisoft if anything portrayed them a touch too conventionally they seem to flaunt their existence in this game where in most of the games they do anything but. I’m just saying this to point out that ghost recon experience is not intended to reflect a recon units experience in any way. They actualy killed some R6 members to hide their existence
I'm kinda surprised to hear Darkchild say that a glock has tons of safety features. It has no safety lever (except certain glocks), no grip safety, and the only thing it has is a trigger safety. Guess the UK isn't using glock 19s
Hi, I'm Darkchild. The glock 17 has 3 safeties, trigger safety, drop safety and firing pin safety, that disengage in sequence when you pull the trigger. So it has 3 safeties. Sig P226 has none.
And none of those safeties are operated individually by the shooter. You pull the trigger and the gun fires. If the firearm is cocked, all you need to do is pull the trigger. Exactly like the Sig. Both are superb firearms, they probably switched to the Glock to save weight.
Yo Darkdally thank you so much for making this video. Having this kind of insight is just amazing. Also I want to personally thank you for your service and time spent in the military. This video is definitely gonna change a lot to how I play this game. Keep up the good work and the amazing videos. Please make sure to thank Darchild for me for what insight and information he gave
Great video dude, i was US army infantry and did a tour in iraq in 04 for 15 months. Best part of this game i think is the camouflage. Not enough games implement camo. Its is a serious difference maker that not many ppl take into account. But i like that in pvp people can walk right past you without seeing you. My kit in real life was a IBA plate carrier, M16A2 iron sights, for those who don't know it has no rail system. A 1990s helmet with mag pouches on my chest. Had a up armored humvee that i kept a .50 cal ammo box full of M16 mags.
As far as the camouflage goes, a lot of the camouflage patterns were either contenders for the 2014 Army Camouflage Improvement Effort (Kryptek, Multicam arid / tropic), were COTS patterns aimed at the tactical / military market (ATACS, Multicam Black, Pencott weapon skins), or were in fact military patterns (AOR, Chocolate Chip, DCU tricolor, CADPAT, Woodland, USAF tiger, UCP, Multicam etc). Since the 2014 effort settled on OCP, Kryptek has expanded into the hunting market.
the only thing i would point out is the G28 isn't the civilian version of the HK 417. the civilian version of the 417 is called the MR 308 and it comes in the standard form that the 417 does without the extra bit at the end of the handguard and the stock. you would have to buy that stock and handguard direct from HK usa just to make your MR 308 look like the G28 does in game. the G28 as seen in game is the standard DMR for the German Bundeswehr replacing the old G3 variants they were using up to its development. the normal configuration of the HK417 is the "recce" set up. there is also the carbine version and the full size with a 20 inch barrel. although the G28 WAS developed from the civilian version of the HK417, even HK refers to it as the "military version of the civilian MR308". good video though.
The IBA vest is USMC standard, not for airsofters. Most of the camos in this game are in fact military. 5.7mm and 4.6mm are designed to pierce kevlar, not a steel plate. Russian anti terrorism units use the P90. several large and powerfull nations use the MP7. G28 is a military rifle used by the USMC and several other militaries. the only safety feature on a glock is a trigger safety.
As someone who's been trained in the military but not sent out, it would be fun to hear what your thoughts are regarding the Swedish M90 camouflage. I've always thought it's quite good personally, but it is made for our forests specifically on the other hand. Regardless share your thoughts please.
Brilliant video. This guy tells it straight and his knowledge is profound, I could listen to him rant about this kind of stuff all day it's fascinating
I would subscribe to darkchilds RUclips channel immediately, having someone with real experience talk about small aspects of the game like this is really entertaining and informative.
Wish Ubi would actually use proper military advisers on the Ghost Recon games these days. Listening to this, I wish guys like this were guiding the game designers etc.
I deployed to Afghanistan twice and I’ve only seen the Barrett .50 cal in use a couple of times during operations. It is a 2 man weapon system, weights more than the 240B which is a light machine gun and is also longer than the 240B which is exactly 4ft 1in in length and weighs 27.6 lbs dry. The .308 or 7.62 is common, squad sharp shooter would be issued the modernized m14 and sniper teams using xm2010 sniper rifle which fires a .308
27.6lbs isnt that heavy now. Well, it is if you have to haul it everywhere but I would imagine if you're shooting a barrett m82, you would be stationary and not moving around much.
They finally added the JPC (Crye) and a micro chest rig (Spiritus Systems). The JPC was free but I had to open 40 battle crates before I got the micro rig. I hope they add a battle belt and stop locking gear behind microtransactions. Edit: We also need new pistols, G19 and M17.
one of the things is game play is how you want to take it. And a lot of gear and other camos are actually copyrighted. If you happen to have MOH Warfitghter then you can see what they did with the kit and gear. You can see that they got licensing for the actual gear which they need to show the gear in game. I wish that wildlands did this however I can see that wildlands went more towards discrete rather than a full blown infantry kit. It is still possible to make an iraq kit with the iba and dcu/m81. I feel like its an artistic liberty they took with the game I just wish they made it more of a simulator than anything. MOH Warfighter was the best game imo for gear and guns. They had actual real life guns and licensing to make them exactly like the real ones. all the way down to surefire and the lights on guns.
I've been watching your GR vids for a while and find them informative as they pertain to the game. That said, I just watched this one and squeed when your Brit friend mentioned baby wipes. OH HELL YEAH!! Next to my uniform and weapon (don't get me started on the UCP! patterns) Wet wipes were indispensable because deserts suck!! (Irag, Astan). Go fast gear is great, except for having to carry it, but wet wipes saved my butt (literally) and other, umm - 'hidden places' - more times than anything! That one comment was GOLD! I'm still laughing (because it's TRUE!!). As to UCP? Seriously!? Yeah, I agree. UGH!! Even the Air Force ABU was/is better imo. Do they even know what dirt is? >;} Seriously! I get asked stuff like that all the time and I always say it's the little stuff that you want but often can't get enough of. About weapon loadouts. I agree that subguns suck as a general purpose weapon. But work well for CQB or as a PDW. Btw, I shoot an M107A1 frequently (and an M82A2, which is the the short barrel version of the original M82. It's for sale btw :) ). But the 107 is better since it has a suppressor. VERY entertaining rifle to shoot if you 'forget' to mention to bystanders not to stand behind you and a little to the left or right. >:} I like the SCAR-17 irl but I didn't have to hump one up mountains. They're nice shooting rifles and the round is of course great. And they're also VERY reliable and easy to field strip and clean/work on. But yeah, heavy. Definitely more of a DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle). In the game I use the BFG .50 or HTI and for some reason they don't slow me down. ;) I even carry a assault rifle (TAR 21) and can run all day up mountains, jump off cliffs, jump out of perfectly good helos. Well, they were perfectly ok until I got in em anyway. ;) Sidearm? Same as you: Sig P227 (I sometimes carry a P229 irl although it's rather large). That or a G19 (best handgun ever made imo) Btw, I just got a Sig P365 and I love it!! (Yeah, I know, off topic). Btw, I own a TAR21 (It's for sale as well and is FDE color) and an X95. The 95 has a number of improvements but they're still bullpups and have all of the drawbacks of bullpups. Your friend mentioned one of the more significant issues: reload speed. I'm a competitive shooter and that's a BIG deal. It's why the AR platform remains the most popular, by far! And I just have to say something about the LVOA-C (Low Visibility Operations Applications - Carbine). I swear every vid game uses that rifle! I think it's because of the name. But the thing is, all it is is an AR-15 with a proprietary rail/barrel shroud and an integrated muzzle brake/flash hider. It was originally designed by request from some foreign mil/police unit who couldn't use suppressors for some reason but wanted to minimize muzzle flash. Oh, and it has IR invisible bunge cording on the rail and actually used that as a selling point. Oh, and they wanted like $3000 for em when they first came out!! HOLY SHIT!! But like you said it's a battle rifle, not an assault rifle. For those who don't now, since they're chambered in 7.62x51mm they don't meet the definition of an assault rifle. That being a shoulder fired rifle chambered in an INTERMEDIATE caliber cartridge, having a pistol grip, a detachable box magazine and being select fire. Btw, an AR-15 is NOT select fire and therefore is NOT an assault rifle, by definition. The term assault rifle was originally derived from the WWII German Sturmgewehr 44 or STG-44. The name is said to have been given to it after it was shown to Hitler. In English it literally means 'storm rifle', although the term was changed to 'assault rifle' since it was more commonly said to assault a position than storm a position. The meaning is of course the same. Anyways, if you don't mind playing with a crazy chick with too many guns we should play some time since I occasionally squad up with guys who aren't n00bs or assholes. >;}
Thanks for your comment. If you're on PS4 then sure we should play sometime. I'd love to buy your TAR-21 you're selling but i have no monies lol. send me a friend request on PSN if that's your platform. (my name is Darkdally on PSN btw)
First, I'd like to thank you for your services. Your professional knowledge (and the knowledge of other Ghosts) should have been one of the core installments in this game. Second, I would love Darkchild's detailed knowledge about the various camps. MGS: Snake Eater was my greatest inspiration for camo clothing & gear.
Yeah. I’ve used both the Swedish AK5C and Finnish RK95. Got to hold an M16 during a NATO exercise I, alongside my buddies enjoyed the light weight of it. You’ll always carry your weapon more than you fire it.
Just want to put a note here, the Molle harness is basically a cut down version of the web rig we use in the Army. There are a couple of military contract companies that produce them, but it is mainly sold on the Airsoft circuit simply due to the lack of real estate the rig comes with.
Great video, well done you guys. Very informative. I'm 65 and still playing video games with my mates! Wildlands is a favourite (British spelling cos I'm a Brit)
i just bought the game a few days ago, needed a break from ultra realistic survival shooters n pvp and I'm loving Wild Lands. awesome guns n gear... they've added military camos and a shitload more stuff. i like the 'Farcry' formula... it works. this game is awesome with a massive map, and endless stuff to do... and there's a million land, sea and air vehicles to get you around in style!
I don’t know why people even bother with videos like this. The shit is obviously fantasy and was designed to be exactly that. It’s like taking a modern blacksmith or something and having them review Lord of the Rings for accuracy. It’s. FANTASY. Quit expecting realism from media whose entire purpose is entertainment.
18:55, this guy doesnt sound old enough to have been in the 14 Field Security and Intelligence Company, which I am pretty sure is what he is talking about, since it was an undercover special reconnaissance and surveillance unit that operated in northern ireland, but that was during the '70s
There's a reason for it, and it's biological. You can clap your hands with your eyes closed. Standard ARs have the mag well directly in front of the grip. Less deviance from what your body and brain have evolved to do.
While I understand some things come more naturally, many skills are muscle memory. How quickly you don and clear your mask for example is about training. I have never fired a bullpup weapon so for me it would be unfamiliar but I would think it could be mastered. during my days of service the magazines were carried on the web belt so having magazines in the vest would also take some getting used to.
I own an M17S-556, and reloads are just fine in range conditions. I do imagine that in a combat scenario they'd be much harder to reload because of where it sits is on the shoulder. I personally just swap to my other shoulder and point it outward. Still, even with practice, it's still slower than a standard rifle. They handle great though, IMO.
This video was such a relief to hear, and I wish game developers would do more of this than make deals with tactical brands and just feature only their brand. I love hearing this guy talk because while he operates in a different country he has the same mindset as I do 🍻 everything he said from adding a crye, battle belts, and rigs like the d3cr or spiritus was exactly what I said when I was looking at kits. You know what they say, great minds think alike.
I'd rather spend 250 quid for a console that I don't need to spend anymore money on over the next ten years and wait a bit longer for my game than spend ten times that on a pc over a similar time period!
@@B-A-L PCs really aren't that expensive, to get one similar to a console they almost cost the same. You also don't need to upgrade at all. Similar to consoles, they don't get worse over time...
We had molle gear in the Corps. You would wear it over your vest but was designed to the over the green tiger stripe vests. Eventually the coyote brown vests had webbing built in to facilitate a fast removal for wound treatment.
Wouldn’t mind having a gr wild lands update containing everything all the gear proper militaries use, even if the update was massive it’d be ok right ?
Polo Lavish: it would have been awesome instead of the sub par mp we have. Not all people who play fortnite are moronic kids, a lot of older people play it for shits and giggles You obnoxious snot rag.

The 5.7x28mm round is designed to expand a lot very quickly in soft material (tissue, soft walls) and penetrate hard material (armor) so it actually performs better than a 9mm or .45 for CQB. I don't know about the 4.6x30mm but I would think it's similar.
They do have a contract with 511 Tactical I don't know the specifics of the contract all I know is that when they were doing research for Ghost Recon wildlands 511 approached them and said we would like you to use our models for your armor in the game and Ubisoft agreed with it

The Brits hate the L85 so much.
Not really, depends on the version, L85A1 sucked due to poor quality control when making the rifle but L85A2 was quite popular. I know many British soldiers that like the L85.

Arosch_ it should have gotten goty
I think it did worse than it should have because of negative reviews and people saying it got boring really quickly, but when ubi adds things like the predator mission or the sam fisher mission for free nobody says anything
nah, all that sci fi shit feels stupid and breaks the immersion. nice big map, good customization, great gunplay... all its missing is that immersion
This game has the potential to be one of the best games ever! Too bad Ubi locked it behind a pay wall like you said.

And thanks to Darkchild for his knowledge.
that's the way I see it too. I own a Walther PPQ which is striker-fire and full single action. I agree that those safeties are necessary.
Agreed. If you pull the trigger on a loaded Glock its going to go bang. I mean, I don't understand how someone could even fathom it's a weapon for a "nanny state".

Hmm, I was thinking of chunky monkeys, but I guess they wouldn't be very comfortable for lanky dudes either. A chest rig is an acquired taste.

Absolutely love seeing other veteran gamers. Much love man! U.S. Army 2009-2017.

But if god forbid something in me breaks, I’ll remember that I have family and friends here at home that will help , no one is ever alone in this world
+Bomber 44 Yup. At least that's a good as even when you're broken there is always someone there to help you.
The Great Sloth Lord dude fucking hell don’t talk bout ptsd and “cqc” if you never served. Just cuz you go war doesn’t mean you get ptsd
Wouldn't want to engage much further though, 600-800m at a push (there were some long barely variants knocking about in Afghan when my dad was out there)
They seriously could have gone with another .556 option though🙄
No expert by any means just general experience, feel free to correct me if you know otherwise👍
I also remember we despised the Bullpups on parade grounds - more of those could be dropped accidentally on a single parade rehearsal than the total of 7.62s dropped servicewide throughout the cold war.

yeah I love talking with this guy, and it was fun to have his opinions on the game as well.
To be honest the average player they will have no idea about rigs.... And probably enough customisation compared to other games.....never going to be a real simulation game anyway
The army use to have a pretty awesome simulator. pretty soon VR games like this are going to be amazing.
Every year it's leaping forward.
A part of their training is done is secrecy because it allows that group to have an edge.
www.polygon.com/2013/2/8/3968814/arma-3-developers-arrested-for-spying-on-military-in-greece
Video games can become more realistic in the aesthetic sense. Still they are more likely to end up being John Wick than the actual combat ever will be. No developer want to burn bridges with any gov. in the name of authenticity.
There are copyright issues as well. A developer would go broke getting licencing for everything
Anderson Andrighi That's exactly what happend to Medal of Honor War fighter series the Afghanistan one. Tier 1 operators helped in authenticity, and development of the game. The operators were then sued and chastised by the Government.
There are two LVOA-C's in the game, neither are customizable, and one is completely naked.
Yeah, Darkchild and I both have the LVOA-C Bad News equipped in the video, actually - at the start. We'd so love to see one that you could customize. It would be the most accurate rifle, from my testing, if we could put a longer barrel on it, or even just a rangefinder
That’s why I started playing again now, they added a customizable LVOA-C to the game store 😊😍
pgrec09 oh shit! I’m gonna check that out when I get home in a couple hours!
I don't think they make different barrels for lvoa, half of what makes it unique compared to other rifles is how the barrel is made and designed
LeiFlux07 Yeah because while bohemia interactive makes some good games with massive replayability, they can't make decent optimisation for shit
Ever heard of a game called Escape from Tarkov?

They also use the Spiritus Micro Chest rig for that matter.
Yeah, look at the date on the video. It may have been the popularity of this vid and the suggestion from my friend that helped get it in the game. At the time of this vid it was not in the game. Thanks.

And none of that stops them being safeties. They switched to Glock for the same reason the military does anything. They're cheap.
Passive safeties are the shit
All I’m saying is someone in this discussion used the gun while in the service and the others haven’t claimed any military activity.
Yo Darkdally thank you so much for making this video. Having this kind of insight is just amazing. Also I want to personally thank you for your service and time spent in the military. Back in the 1940’s we’d call this guy in to clean up shop and shut shit down, now he’s making badass videos for a badass game.
Really enjoyed this video. Brilliant
thanks man :)
Still here 2021. This game is still.amazing on series x
The IBA looks bad in game, idk why
As someone who's been trained in the military but not sent out, it would be fun to hear what your thoughts are regarding the Swedish M90 camouflage. I've always thought it's quite good personally, but it is made for our forests specifically on the other hand. Regardless share your thoughts please.
Happy to say they do have a customizable LVOAC, in the store though.
Brilliant video. This guy tells it straight and his knowledge is profound, I could listen to him rant about this kind of stuff all day it's fascinating
yeah he's a font of knowledge on this stuff.
I play with my friends (real life friends) and we model out load outs based on what we actually own. It’s pretty fun.
I love that!
I super enjoy listening to Darkchild talk about what he knows and likes. You too! Thanks for the video and knowledge.
This is by far the best video you have done.
Thanks man :) I'll try to do some more cool stuff like this
I would subscribe to darkchilds RUclips channel immediately, having someone with real experience talk about small aspects of the game like this is really entertaining and informative.
Well, it is if you have to haul it everywhere but I would imagine if you're shooting a barrett m82, you would be stationary and not moving around much.
cody_groening2000@yahoo bullshit.
I just got this game today and just found your channel. As an US infantry vet i gotta say i love this type of video
19:20 Finally someone agrees. Glocks are a joke, best answer ever.
I've been watching your GR vids for a while and find them informative as they pertain to the game. That said, I just watched this one and squeed when your Brit friend mentioned baby wipes. OH HELL YEAH!!
Next to my uniform and weapon (don't get me started on the UCP! patterns) Wet wipes were indispensable because deserts suck!! (Irag, Astan).
Go fast gear is great, except for having to carry it, but wet wipes saved my butt (literally) and other, umm - 'hidden places' - more times than anything! That one comment was GOLD! I'm still laughing (because it's TRUE!!).
As to UCP? Seriously!? Yeah, I agree. UGH!! Even the Air Force ABU was/is better imo. Do they even know what dirt is? >;}
Seriously! I get asked stuff like that all the time and I always say it's the little stuff that you want but often can't get enough of.
About weapon loadouts. I agree that subguns suck as a general purpose weapon. But work well for CQB or as a PDW.
Btw, I shoot an M107A1 frequently (and an M82A2, which is the the short barrel version of the original M82. It's for sale btw :) ). But the 107 is better since it has a suppressor. VERY entertaining rifle to shoot if you 'forget' to mention to bystanders not to stand behind you and a little to the left or right. >:}
I like the SCAR-17 irl but I didn't have to hump one up mountains. They're nice shooting rifles and the round is of course great. And they're also VERY reliable and easy to field strip and clean/work on. But yeah, heavy. Definitely more of a DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle).
In the game I use the BFG .50 or HTI and for some reason they don't slow me down. ;) I even carry a assault rifle (TAR 21) and can run all day up mountains, jump off cliffs, jump out of perfectly good helos. Well, they were perfectly ok until I got in em anyway. ;)
Sidearm? Same as you: Sig P227 (I sometimes carry a P229 irl although it's rather large). That or a G19 (best handgun ever made imo) Btw, I just got a Sig P365 and I love it!! (Yeah, I know, off topic).
Btw, I own a TAR21 (It's for sale as well and is FDE color) and an X95. The 95 has a number of improvements but they're still bullpups and have all of the drawbacks of bullpups. Your friend mentioned one of the more significant issues: reload speed. I'm a competitive shooter and that's a BIG deal. It's why the AR platform remains the most popular, by far!
And I just have to say something about the LVOA-C (Low Visibility Operations Applications - Carbine). I swear every vid game uses that rifle! I think it's because of the name. But the thing is, all it is is an AR-15 with a proprietary rail/barrel shroud and an integrated muzzle brake/flash hider. It was originally designed by request from some foreign mil/police unit who couldn't use suppressors for some reason but wanted to minimize muzzle flash. Oh, and it has IR invisible bunge cording on the rail and actually used that as a selling point. Oh, and they wanted like $3000 for em when they first came out!! HOLY SHIT!!
But like you said it's a battle rifle, not an assault rifle. For those who don't now, since they're chambered in 7.62x51mm they don't meet the definition of an assault rifle. That being a shoulder fired rifle chambered in an INTERMEDIATE caliber cartridge, having a pistol grip, a detachable box magazine and being select fire. Btw, an AR-15 is NOT select fire and therefore is NOT an assault rifle, by definition.
The term assault rifle was originally derived from the WWII German Sturmgewehr 44 or STG-44. The name is said to have been given to it after it was shown to Hitler. In English it literally means 'storm rifle', although the term was changed to 'assault rifle' since it was more commonly said to assault a position than storm a position. The meaning is of course the same.
Anyways, if you don't mind playing with a crazy chick with too many guns we should play some time since I occasionally squad up with guys who aren't n00bs or assholes. >;}
M16A2 is 7.2lbs empty, I carried it. It's reasonably light.
Yeah. I’ve used both the Swedish AK5C and Finnish RK95. Got to hold an M16 during a NATO exercise
I, alongside my buddies enjoyed the light weight of it.
British spelling cos you're a Brit? You're British or a Briton, mate!
How in the hell did his NVG make that high pitch noise from the Splinter Cell games and my game doesn’t do that for NVG or Thermal? At around 24:30?
Wish they added an LBT or a AVS, that would be cool honestly
sup boi the 6094's and the the LBT RRV would be dope to have.
Charles Edge ik right?
Charles Edge RRV is made by Eagle Industries
Its refreshing to hear from people who know what they're talking about on RUclips.
Semper fi brother
i just bought the game a few days ago, needed a break from ultra realistic survival shooters n pvp and I'm loving Wild Lands. awesome guns n gear... they've added military camos and a shitload more stuff. i like the 'Farcry' formula... it works. this game is awesome with a massive map, and endless stuff to do... and there's a million land, sea and air vehicles to get you around in style!
YES, this what i said in your last video, we need better plate carriers
Andrew Basso just better positioned ones
FXIIBeaver yeah for sure, they all sag a bit
Andrew Basso the IBA is close. Close. But I wouldn't mind the plate carriers we have if they were just higher on the chest.
AWESOME video! Loved the real world input. I agree with you, with this information I feel inspired to continue playing this game.
18:55, this guy doesnt sound old enough to have been in the 14 Field Security and Intelligence Company, which I am pretty sure is what he is talking about, since it was an undercover special reconnaissance
and surveillance unit that operated in northern ireland, but that was during the '70s
I wondered about the bullpup reload speed. thanks for commenting on that Darkchild.
"Why is my game still loading?" Because you're playing on console buddy.
I wanna be a Dutch Marine
No you don’t. Stay in school.
Mateo Hunter Yes I want to
Haha ok. Lemme know how it goes.
I always love to listen to Vets speak... about anything
*Talking how game is unrealistic*
Game: Mission Failed!
Is that a metal gear solid 5 pfp?
Thanks for doing the interview! I learned a lot.
this guy swears only a tiny bit
Summer I was holding back for the video tbh
Summer ..Jesus but fucking Christ. I mean shit who gives a fuck.
Summer yea, im beginning to question if he actually is military. ..... lol
Wouldn’t mind having a gr wild lands update containing everything all the gear proper militaries use, even if the update was massive it’d be ok right ?
Am I the only one who thinks this game would actually work well with a battle royale mode?
Cigarette Burns yes. Yes you are.
Found the guy who sucks at Battle Royale games.
Hells yes, as soon as i booted it up the first time i thought damn, ubi done missed a massive opurtunity here.
You obviously never play ghost recon gamed if your moronic ass thinks this game needs a battle royale foh.
Sticj to your fortnite kiddo
Polo Lavish: it would have been awesome instead of the sub par mp we have.
Not all people who play fortnite are moronic kids, a lot of older people play it for shits and giggles
You obnoxious snot rag.
This was such a fun, useful video.
As a soldier in that served in the US Army just wanted to say thank you for your service Devil Dog
And thank you too
Darkdally is always a pleasure to see my brothers in arms doing some cool shit like this did photography and videography while I did my time in
hey guys just here to drop a tip if you wanna customize your squad in the customize menu press z/c to switch between squad members
Thank y'all for y'alls service
June 21, 2020. Still playing this game. Mostly just for fun. Longest shots etc.
I knew this would be interesting but this might be the most entertaining thing I've seen on RUclips in a long time. Dark dally you have a voice for entertainment. You should seriously consider doing audiobooks in the post apocalyptic genre. Your voice would be perfect bro
The 5.7x28mm round is designed to expand a lot very quickly in soft material (tissue, soft walls) and penetrate hard material (armor) so it actually performs better than a 9mm or .45 for CQB. I don't know about the 4.6x30mm but I would think it's similar.
They do have a contract with 511 Tactical I don't know the specifics of the contract all I know is that when they were doing research for Ghost Recon wildlands 511 approached them and said we would like you to use our models for your armor in the game and Ubisoft agreed with it
I always use the hti as my anti-vehicle rifle since once you go into the higher levels you can take down a chopper in one hit.
