Hi 💜 It's a wild world, right! I have to say, he somewhat reminded me of my husband . Smart articulate to a degree. But lost.😥 Now , after 40yrs married, I lost my handsome beautiful man last August. It's so hard to watch someone suffer. Just so damn hard. I own my own choices. I said "I Do" at the alter, But you can't love this out of someone. And when they've been abused as a child, they seem to have double trouble. Your channel keeps me informed about what's out there. I soo thank you for that. It's so hard to not belong to someone after your partner dies. ~I am think I'm in in major shock here~ but I Needed to share a bit of my life here and now 💜 That's it. Thank you
Aye a fellow Norseman!! My grandparents are from Norway (3 out of 4 of them anyways). Skol brethren! I really hope my brother here finds stability and happiness. Seems so intelligent and kind and well spoken. Hope everyone is great today!
We would say kippis instead of skål, we're the odd ones in the nordic with completely alien language from the rest of the nordic. Culturewise there's more in common. And cause swedish is one of the official languages here (with Finnish and Sami, Finnish being the main ofc) everyone would understand skål ✌🏼
@cameo they're just jealous so take it as a compliment! Finnish is relatively easy for Estonian to learn though? It's just confusing when a word is written the same as in Estonian but has a totally different meaning, like hallitus is government and ruumis is corpse.. I managed to learn enough Estonian to visit cafés and such, I really do miss Tallinn. Really beautiful city, especially the old city. (I promise I don't visit just to go to super alko lolz)
@cameo hey it's not our fault our alcohol taxes are insanely high and yours are low, and the ferry down to Estonia costs just like 15€ and you can bring as much alcohol you want 😂 lol I've been called worse than reindeer so I take that as a compliment 🤘🏻😁
This guy breaks my heart. Very few of these interviews I feel the person is being 100%. Most seem to me to embellish quite a bit, or just outright make stuff up. This guy seemed so genuine. Even the things he says that aren't accurate i think he genuinely believes. I used speed a number of years, and hate seeing anyone battle with it. It honestly destroys everything good in your life. I hope he's able to get on his feet one day. It is possible to get your life back.
I hope you read this, Marshall. You probably won't, but still. I just want to say perkele, man! You can do this! I believe in you! Lots of love from a fellow 74 model from your neighbour country, Norway!
The LA Grand hotel is owned by the Shenzhen Group out of China. Apparently they're in cahoots with many California politicians. The hotel is 13 stories with 415 guest rooms and 72 suites. Before the hotel closed to house the homeless the room rate was $340. a night and valet parking was $50. a day.
Well this has been one of the more insightful and kind men Mark has interviewed in a long while. I’d like to see him change some of the beliefs he has about himself that seem to be holding him back
Marshall, love from Helsinki to you. You have that Finnish SISU in your blood, you are already using it by staying afloat, taking care of yourself and working! I wish you all the best, you will rise. You will rise because of sisu.
So interesting to learn a bit more in this one about the housing for the homeless and the help that is being offered often times. So hard to put boundaries, rules and regulations on addicts and the mentally ill. For them, most likely, any form of housing under strict regulations such as the Grand would basically be a prison. It’s programs like therapy and drug rehab that would help them first; but if they are still out in the streets, even after rehab and the relapse, it’s a whole new cycle again that gets them nowhere. So incredibly hard to escape and vicious and incredibly dark. I wish Marshall well.
When a person isnt really shown the right tools to dealwith anxietys , people rubbing ya the wrong way, our own assumptions, expectations, there is no easier softer way. Consistency and patience doesnt come easy to those who arent feeling at ease. A person can go drifting with no goals or idea how to get out from under the system. Everyday turns into strategizing but not with the big picture in mind, before you know it twenty years has passed. look back and its a blur
Have you noticed just telling someone you love them they can feel it in thier spirit instantly? Time and space might play a role in the physical dimension, but as far as the spiritual dimension love can be felt instantly. Its because we are all one. Different parts of the body, but our spirits are connected through the holy spirit. Gods very spirit brought us to life. God is Love.
Dude really looks like a Finn, someone sponsor him a flight here *perkele* ! Free 6 month rehab could change his life, I know it did to me and now I even got a job as part of my rehabilitation. Life is good.🤘🏻
He's raised in the US, how will he feel to go back to a culture that he doesn't really know? I agree that Finland would for sure be a place where he gets much better help.
@@thematriarchy2075 well he must know something about the culture, dude seems like a basic finn, serious and not showing emotions publicly lol. Besides we're pretty western so there wouldn't be *that* big of a culture shock, of course there's differences and the weather might be a shock after LA. Every American I've known seem to deal with the culture differences quite well and I guess it would be easier to him since it would basically be like returning to his roots. Language wouldn't be a problem either since all the basic services are available in English and pretty much everyone can hold up a conversation in English (older people little less, like older than baby boomers) sometimes changing everything in your life is just what you need when you're an addict, when everything around you is new you don't have time to focus on your withdrawal and addiction etc. Of course flying here won't be possible without some money and ID.

Oh Marshall I wish you the best, and hope you find the stability you need. Perhaps you will find that person to settle down with and start a family. Good luck to you in your life.
Start a family? Recovering addicts should focus on sobriety for a very long time & self-stability. Children don’t need to be born into potential chaos.
Mark should start a podcast. Just him talking about how he got into this, how he finds people to interview. Safety measures he takes, how he decides who to help, who to follow up with and some behind the scenes of how this all came together
He seems like a good and smart man. I hope he finds the deep connection love the seeks and be able to manage his addiction. He deserves a better life than he has..

This man would be so easy to love, he could find his way. I feel like if I just had that one soul I’d stay straight and not fuck up but it gets so lonely. He can do this. Positive vibes.
What an intelligent, self aware human! Its refreshing to see someone who seems to want to work, who seems to want healthy romantic relationships, he seems like a very caring individual. Rooting for him!
What a Gentleman and a gentle man. He is the only man I have seen Mark interview who has tried to save the girls and sincerely worries for them. I wish he could know it was not on him that his brother killed himself… (even if there was a note or that is what he Mom said). It was his brother’s responsibility. So sad. I hope he is able to get it together.
Is there an update on Marshall?? Just catching his story now and I see it’s from 2 years ago. Really hoping he was given a helping hand and he worked to get his life back. Seems like such a pure heart. His most important lesson in life 💔🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️ Oh my word I hope this human encounters a loving partner in this life.
love everyone was his message and should be valued, we all have stories and we all have pain. Love humans we all are different but so similar in so many ways.
That hotel yall described sounds scary. It could burn down at anytime. If someone falls asleep with a cigarette or forgets to turn off the stove if they have them in the room.
Women are going to come out of the woodwork wanting to fix this guy. Lots of potential here but he has to fix himself. He seems to be self and socially aware. Good luck to him. Meth and alcohol were my drugs of choice. Sober 22 years now. It can be done.

You can tell this guy still has his head on somewhat straight... There's still hope, there's always hope if you want it bad enough.. Good luck, praying you find your way out of that lifestyle..🙏
Spent two months in Finland. Literally ( I barely ever use the word because it is misused so much) no one talks to each other on public transport and pretty much every where in public. I sort of like that because people don't disturb you. In the States, seems like if you don't talk to everyone peeps think you're stuck up or socially inept. There's a good balance in between somewhere. This man is super interesting. I hope the best for him.
Yeah, no talking to strangers, respect personal space (even before covid) don't sit next to someone if there's empty seat or you can stand lol. Talking to strangers is allowed on public holidays (which there are many) cause you're expected to be drunk. (Nah not really, we're not as bad drinkers as people think, especially the younger generations)
@cameo yup, have to agree with that. I wouldn't be alive if it weren't for the free (and top noch) rehabs and free suboxone treatment combined with psycho social rehabilitation. Lots of Americans try to shit on the health care system "cause you have to wait forever to get treatment" but I just booked an appointment for a cardiologist and it's in 30 days, and this is just for a check up, nothing urgen. Bet there are areas in US where you can't get into treatment in that time, or you have to drive hundreds of miles for it.
No reason to not have insurance with affordable healthcare. Bunch of excuses. I currently have it so I know the process and it’s really simple. As far as the Fin, we don’t wait 30 days for a cardiologist. SMH people these days.
He’s a really good looking guy and doesn’t look even homeless like he “said I try not to look homeless cus if I do i know I will stay homeless” I feel like he could really get straight and have a really good life and I really hope he should get help after being in prison that long and with everything that’s happened in his life god bless you and I really hope you have a great life and get to go surfing and go skating and have a roof over your head and food at the table and no struggling anymore ❤️❤️❤️
Marshall - Finland has incredible homeless programs, they provide homes, help with mental health and then substance abuse treatment. You are a naturalized citizen, Im sure they can help..God bless my man, praying you get better, everyone deserves a second chance.
Marshall is right. The greatest lesson in life is to love, everyone. That’s so challenging, we all suffer from hurt, and it’s hard to love, especially ourselves. Thank you Mark! Great interview. Thank you Marshall, for sharing.
I pray he can get off the drugs and then he will live a happy life with a relationship and off the streets. Good luck to you 🍀.. I wish you the very best 🙏✝️
Meth ruined the person I was going to marry. It robbed us of happiness because of her addiction. I tried so many times to help get her clean and let her know I loved her but she chose to bounce around from house to house and sleep with other people for drugs. She came back a few times saying she wanted to get clean but any time we had even the slightest argument she would run off and go back to it. She would turn into a monster and say she hated me and that I was a POS and spread awful rumors about me. She would block me when she was using for a few months then suddenly unblock me when she was cleaned up. She's currently clean and just unblocked me for about the 10th time and apparently she has finally entered rehab like she said she would so many times. I hope she finally can shake this awful drug and get her kids back into her life. I haven't talked to her in three months and I probably won't until she finally follows through with everything. I know she always wanted to get clean and the last time I saw her she said if she doesn't stop she is going to die. She's been raped a few times and beat and robbed by two men and beat unconscious because she also sells. I don't want the person I love to die but I'm not going to stick around and watch her kill herself. I hope she finally makes the changes she always wanted to make and the next time I actually do talk to her I want to see her blessed and happy.
God that has to be hard for you to see or hear about. Loving her so much and wanting to help her save herself, but it just isn't enough. We can't control others, even when we have good intentions. I commend you for putting up and holding boundaries, but also still caring for her, and wanting to see her succeed. There's a fine line between putting our foot down/setting healthy boundaries and abandoning completely our loved ones. It doesn't seem like you've abandoned her. Protect yourself, but never give up hope. That's how I like to look at it. Best wishes to her and you both. 💜
It's not easy watching a person go that road. A friend fell into meth and it was really hard to be blocked/forgotten/remembered & then pick it all up as though nothing happened. They were just a friend and it was not worth it. Couldn't do that life with the love of my life
Oh wow interesting to see someone from my home country on this channel 🇫🇮 Wish the dude stayed here, he'd have much better chance in life and better support networks and access to health care and free rehabs, maybe if he still has citizenship he could come here to put his life together. No need to talk Finnish, everyone speaks English as well anyway. Wishing him the best in life ✌🏼

I was 33 the first time I tried meth. Now I'm 3 years clean of that evil shit. I Only did it for 5 months and I'm still paying the price. It's a life destroying experience... My house makes settling noises and my water heater will make noises when water is being heated up. It melted my rationality and eventho I know nobody is wasting there time fucking with me I still get paranoid thinking people are under my house spying on me . And the sad thing is I crave that shit cause the high is majestic. It's fun at first and then all of a sudden meth will search your brain and find your fears and worries and exploit it to the point of pure horror. It's not worth the high and it's most def not worth psychosis.
Man the psychosis is the worst I still struggle with being over paranoid and I've been clean since 2-14-20. It destroys everything I wish people would see the dark side before they try it for the first time
I can resonate with your comment. Jesus Christ silenced my negative thoughts. I wrote this poem after many years of being clean from meth use. *the devil is calling* the devil is calling I can feel him reaching out to me through my veins it wants my soul it wants to take me away it wants me to hold the glass in my hands as wicked thoughts run through my head it wants me to burn the fire and stare at amaze while I feel the rush of power I am about to intake it wants me to inhale the sweet smokes of hell that will spread through my skin and tell me beautiful lies that makes you believe you are higher than God himself so untouchable so hard to reach then exhale that warmth that shelters the cries of your mind and heart and you sit there in the comfort of a burning light as it holds you telling you everything is ok it's the devil calling you he wants you home
33 was old enough to start, I'm surprised by that. But your over it now, fair play to you. The paranoia you know is a residual effect, and the clear brain you have now. The description of the majesty of the drug, wrecks my head thinking about it
@@RZ42148 that’s exactly how it is. Thanks for sharing that Claudia. It’s a beautiful poem. It really reflects the users experience. The enemy is the father of Lies. Meth is one of his favourite tools because it tells us the lie that we are healthy, happy, and doing the right thing. Everyone around us sees us degrading and dying while we THINK we’re more alive than we’ve ever been. Before long, we end up dead on our feet. Jesus Christ saves.

I have to say, he somewhat reminded me of my husband . Smart articulate to a degree.
But lost.😥
Now , after 40yrs married, I lost my handsome beautiful man last August.
It's so hard to watch someone suffer. Just so damn hard.
I own my own choices.
I said
"I Do" at the alter,
But you can't love this out of someone.
And when they've been abused as a child, they seem to have double trouble.
Your channel keeps me informed about what's out there. I soo thank you for that.
It's so hard to not belong to someone after your partner dies.
~I am think I'm in in major shock here~ but I Needed to share a bit of my life here and now 💜
That's it.
Thank you
Sorry for your loss, Janet. Wishing you the very best.
Keep strong Janet...Sorry to hear of your loss. Love from Ireland
Good morning Brother!!!!!!! have a great day!
@cameo that's like hi though, isn't skol kippis. Or hölökynkölökyn if you're from ostrobothnia
Unbelievable kind, compassionate and downright loving comments. Good luck to you Marshall.
“I just want to be comfortable, you know?” Such a small ask for such a difficult life lived.
I liked him.Intelligent and socially conscious. Good luck Marshall, keep trying. ❤️
This person is special, he would make the most out of being helped. Be his friend, Marc.
Amazing Human Being, His Kind Soul is present in this interview!
I'm a recovering 24 yrs meth addict, and there are some like him and I that are good people. I hope he does get help and clean he is a great guy
I hope you read this, Marshall.
You probably won't, but still.
I just want to say perkele, man!
You can do this!
I believe in you!
Lots of love from a fellow 74 model from your neighbour country, Norway!
I just want to give him a hug. He seems so genuine and has so much potential.
I’d like to see him change some of the beliefs he has about himself that seem to be holding him back
What he said about the women towards the end, was the beautiful selfless thing I ever heard on here.
What a sweet soul. Wish there were more men like him. Hopefully he gets clean and get his life together ❤
I do too!
I love this guy. I really hope he finds a good woman to help each other build a great life together. He’s a good guy fr. ❤️❤️❤️
Marshall, love from Helsinki to you. You have that Finnish SISU in your blood, you are already using it by staying afloat, taking care of yourself and working! I wish you all the best, you will rise. You will rise because of sisu.
He seems very smart. I wish he could have the support he needs. Good luck and best wishes.
Such a well spoken, put together man. I want him to know his brother’s death was not his fault. I pray he finds his way. Thank you, Mark!
@@claytonjohn6473 Great comment!
After listening to his story and so many like his on this channel....I realize how awesome my life is. I shouldn't complain about anything.
@@ilarious5729 I am from Amsterdam, and i find americans to be quite different from us here.
Also, i think Suomi people are really different from american people. I would donate for a ticket to his motherland though.
@@thematriarchy2075 oh I love Amsterdam, spent 2 weeks there a few years back and now I'm learning Dutch on Duolingo. Finland thanks you guys for Floor Jansen (current singer of Nightwish lol)
Yeah, Americans can be "a bit" loud80 and more open with their emotions, I think those are the biggest differences in people I can think of. Btw kudos for knowing the real name of our country 😜
Edit: useless fact, in Finnish it's fatherland (isänmaa) instead of motherland.
@@ilarious5729 Haha, yes, Floortje, lol. How nice that you liked Amsterdam and are learning Dutch! It's not easy.
What a beautiful human being. Sending him much love and blessings. If only we had more kind hearts like this in the world.
Marshall seems like a smart guy. i hope he gets ahead of his demons. i would love to hear a good news follow up.
Mark should start a podcast. Just him talking about how he got into this, how he finds people to interview. Safety measures he takes, how he decides who to help, who to follow up with and some behind the scenes of how this all came together
There are 3 interviews with him on YT. Just search with his full name, Mark Laita.
He seems like a really nice person.
He seems like a good and smart
man. I hope he finds the deep connection love the seeks and be able to manage his addiction. He deserves a better life than he has..
What a sweet, sweet guy. Hoping he finds comfort in life...
Marshall i feel yr a kind soul with a good heart… your good life is out there waiting.. don’t give up… I hope you get an I.D soon & can start living. Much luck to you ❤️❤️❤️
I bet if Marshall could find a nice safe, comfortable place to rest his head and a hot cooked meal he would probably sleep for a good 3-5 days. He looks very drained mentally. I think he could make it with some help. Wish him the best...
I agree. I pray someone or something will hit his path!! Thank you.
@@mihe6212 If he lived by me I would. There's only so much you can do living 1,000 miles away... 😉
Marshal is speaking Truths
Real Talk I hope he can get off
Drugs
He has so much potential 💪
He seems genuine like he wants to change and get his life together. Hope he finds his way!
All he needs is a chance. Seems pretty genuine. Don't give up sir!
Good talk, I wish him all the best, hopefully he could get a little help to get some stability...
This man would be so easy to love, he could find his way. I feel like if I just had that one soul I’d stay straight and not fuck up but it gets so lonely. He can do this. Positive vibes.
This was a great interview
What an intelligent, self aware human! Its refreshing to see someone who seems to want to work, who seems to want healthy romantic relationships, he seems like a very caring individual. Rooting for him!
I’m so sorry for everything happened to you Marshal! Please be strong and keep fighting !Love from Bulgaria ❤️🍀
That was an incredibly harrowing ending. What a story. Mich love to you mate.
Thanks Marshall. Truly sorry to hear that you lost your brother.
One Love 🔥
Marshall, you have a giant heart. Wishing you the best.
Excellent interview. God bless you Marshall. Keep fighting for that better life. Never Never Never Never give up
Wishing you the best, Marshall. You come across as a real stand up kind of person.
Love the interview 🙌 thank you Mark 😊
I do to
Marshall cares deeply about, others, women, the fabric of society, those on the street.
A good man
Women are going to come out of the woodwork wanting to fix this guy. Lots of potential here but he has to fix himself. He seems to be self and socially aware. Good luck to him. Meth and alcohol were my drugs of choice. Sober 22 years now. It can be done.
You are only 6 years older than myself.
I feel pretty youthful still.
Glad l never got sucked into hard drugs or alcohol.
My family is the greatest gift to me,l am and was fortunate to be loved.
Sometimes ,that is all you have and that's enough.
All the best .✌🏼
He is such a good soul !!! Wish him the best for the near future 🙏🏻
One of the first interviews with a "meth addict" that they aren't compulsively lying the whole interview. He doesn't have all these far-fetched stories, like most do.
@@ilarious5729 Or you don't have the insurance for it, so you go too late, or you go broke after treatment.
No reason to not have insurance with affordable healthcare. Bunch of excuses. I currently have it so I know the process and it’s really simple. As far as the Fin, we don’t wait 30 days for a cardiologist. SMH people these days.
I hope you get better my brother, good luck to you.
What a beautiful human. God bless you Marshall!
Marshall - Finland has incredible homeless programs, they provide homes, help with mental health and then substance abuse treatment. You are a naturalized citizen, Im sure they can help..God bless my man, praying you get better, everyone deserves a second chance.
Sending love and strength from Sweden
Marshall is right. The greatest lesson in life is to love, everyone. That’s so challenging, we all suffer from hurt, and it’s hard to love, especially ourselves.
Thank you Mark! Great interview. Thank you Marshall, for sharing.
Love your comment. 100 percent spot on.
@@dutton1991z thank you 😊
I pray he can get off the drugs and then he will live a happy life with a relationship and off the streets. Good luck to you 🍀.. I wish you the very best 🙏✝️
You too have your whole life ahead of you! Your extremely likable … I see you soaring in the future and I’m rooting for you
Meth ruined the person I was going to marry.
Couldn't do that life with the love of my life
Your a smart guy , you can have so much more ! Get sober , stay sober !
Oh wow interesting to see someone from my home country on this channel 🇫🇮
Wish the dude stayed here, he'd have much better chance in life and better support networks and access to health care and free rehabs, maybe if he still has citizenship he could come here to put his life together. No need to talk Finnish, everyone speaks English as well anyway.
Wishing him the best in life ✌🏼
What's up bro!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

💤s brother!
Blessings to this man's journey
*the devil is calling*
the devil is calling
I can feel him reaching out to me
through my veins
it wants my soul
it wants to take me away
it wants me to hold the glass
in my hands
as wicked thoughts run through my head
it wants me to burn the fire
and stare at amaze
while I feel the rush of power
I am about to intake
it wants me to inhale
the sweet smokes of hell
that will spread through my skin
and tell me beautiful lies
that makes you believe
you are higher than God himself
so untouchable
so hard to reach
then exhale that warmth
that shelters the cries of your mind and heart
and you sit there in the comfort
of a burning light
as it holds you
telling you everything is ok
it's the devil calling you
he wants you home
33 was old enough to start, I'm surprised by that. But your over it now, fair play to you. The paranoia you know is a residual effect, and the clear brain you have now. The description of the majesty of the drug, wrecks my head thinking about it
It was only fun the first time for me
@@RZ42148 that’s exactly how it is.
I really hope he finds some support, Hes still got his senses he just needs a mentor or someone who can assist him!
Gorgeous soul. Love and light Marshall!
Such a smart & handsome man with so much potential. Hope he learns to fall in love with himself first & that will help him find love with someone else 🖤
The fact that he’s as lucid and reflective after an entire adult life of drug use and incarceration is testament to the fact that the life doesn’t define the soul x
Best of luck man - I hope you get to use your obvious abilities to find happiness and security x
Marshall, When the opportunity comes for you to watch yourself you realise the person your looking at deserves, a lot more than your giving yourself, you really do . love Australia x
"You dont look homeless, i try not too if i look homeless im gonna stay homeless " i love that, i was in a homeless shelter for like 3 weeks, and i would shower twice a day and wash my clothes and try to look clean and fresh.
This man has an amazing soul. Wish I could meet him.
Poetic: “my dad didn’t steal cars, but he drove them like they’re stolen.”
Reading the comments I see I am not the only one who sees such beauty in this man. What a beautiful soul. I hope he finds the love he longs for and deserves. A diamond in the rough and a free spirit. Crazy he spent so much time in prison. So sad he lost his brother. He seems like he could be in the movies.
This guy Marshall is so well spoken and seems very intelligent. I agree with Mark-he looks very employable and although looks weathered-is still attractive and holds a good conversation and thought process. I hope he can get it together before he is too far gone and finds the soulmate relationship he obviously craves. Sending him positive energy and prayers. Very interesting and excellent conversation-love that he ends with saying 💕 LOVE is the most important thing in life.
Agree, but that first love has to be of yourself. often in the end you end up feeling short changed when the others love for themselves, is stronger than what can be returned to you. hope that makes sense. its like entering into a partnership that the partners are not equal in the beginning.
He’s still got it. Hope he finds his way out.
I hope he gets his life together and finds someone as special as he his.
He so damn cool and sweet !! God bless him hope he find peace !
