Love your videos Mark, not just very helpful for pool owners but great tips and refreshers for myself and other pool technicians 👍🏼👍🏼
I have an above ground pool and cannot get the water clear. Everything is right on target with the water testing but I cannot clear the water. We have a 1 year old sand filter, water pressure is great but I'm backwashing a few times a day and that water coming out is pretty milky looking. I've used alot of chlorine, clarifier per advice from our local pool company with no luck
Hi Mark I was hoping you had a video on how to replace the coping on above ground pools but don't seem to find one. Any chance I'm just missing it?
If you are referring to coping for the liner, l have not made a video on that. Thanks for watching.
Hi.. I have a question, I have a hayward sand filter and pump and I'm wondering what should the pressure gauge read?
It depends on the size of the filter and the size of the pump you have.
It's a 1.25 hp pump and hayward pro series 250lbs
You will probably be around 12 to 15 psi, there are still other variables to consider but this will be pretty close. Whatever your pressure is after you backwash and rinse throughly that will be your start pressure. When your pressure goes up 8 to 10 lbs over your start pressure then you will have to backwash and rinse.
Yeah I'm at 18 psi right now so I'll backwash tomorrow and see what happens thanks for the help I appreciate it.
Hi Mark thanks for your videos. I was just wondering what your opinion is on the use of filterballs or any other similar type fibre ball material vs conventional sand / glass media? Thanks.
Hands down filter sand is the best, the sand will filter better because it is much finer.
@@HallmarkPoolSupplies thanks for the advice
I have just vacuumed my pool through filtration, after vacuum i done a long backwash and rinse, I then had dirty, cloudy water shooting back into my pool through the returns. I then done a backwash and rinse again, but now my pump and filter are not fully priming ?????
If the pump was fully primed before and during the backwash and rinse procedure then the pump should maintain prime. The first thing l would check is the water level in the pool. I would also check your skimmer basket and the skimmer’s weir door. Make sure the basket is not clogged and the weir is not stuck. Thanks for watching.
@@HallmarkPoolSupplies all that’s been done Mark, possibly a blockage somewhere 🤔
If you put your filter in the recirculate position and the pump runs good then the issue is the filter. You may need to backwash and rinse again or change the sand. If in the recirculate position the pump is not wanting to prime then the issue may be with the pump. If the pump’s impeller is clogged or restricted this can happen.
Do you need to do anything different when servicing a pool filter that is one story below the pool
Systems that are lower than the pool usually have shut off valves so you can service the system without getting drowned.
Hi I got hard question for you..
I got a 1.5 hayward pool pump. Its 4 years old. It ran out of water and stoped. I restared it and it works ok, but on my installation I have a turn off switch to turn off the pump.. one lead or 110v travel to the switch and it turn off. Now since it ran out of water and probly went hot..
When I hit the off on the switch the pump still runs and i hear a hummin over the moter on the off position. I changed the switch and the 220 out let.. could the pump internal switch that controls 110 220 be the cause..
The internal switch should be fine, however you can take your motor to a local motor repair shop and have it checked to be on the safe side.
my liner is 12 years old and im loosing water should i spend money looking for leaks or just replace the liner any advice?
