    I had a similar problem with 2012 Expert no crank, solenoid clicking. Has already clean battery earth on drivers floor. Battery 12.8v drops to 11 ehen trying to start. Got new battery still the same.
    Measured from battery neg to body some resistance showing. Varied when batteryneg lead moved. Stripped off neg lead and replaced with 25mm flexi.
    Crimped big copper lug. Started fine cranked fast. Put original battery back and started fine.
    Neg lead had gone high resistance!! Job done and I was thinking new starter motor. 😂

    Great video Matt. I have a similar problem with a 2010 Fiat Scudo except mine cranks but won't start. I had a new key made this week in case that was the problem but the key guy showed me it's the body control module not working or not getting power! So it looks like a broken wire again! Since you made this video gleaned any new routes for testing? I now have a similar tone tester for broken wires but I'm struggling to get the snail clamps to release on the ecu plugs a video on releasing various plug fittings would be helpful. Keep up the good work. Cheers

Hope this may help some folk out there!

    • @mechanicmatt871

      It looks like it was the brown wire in the brown (centre) plug. This is powered with the ignition switched on. Try giving it power if it hadn't already got power. I jumped mine from the red wire with 12 volts on the black plug. Try using a fuse in the jumper like I did. If in doubt you may get a free wiring diagram from carmin STD app in the play store.

    Hi Matt, hope you're well! I was wondering if there was a way I could contact you directly? I am currently experiencing the same issue with my Peugeot expert. No communication with ECU. Fuses are all ok (ECU has also been sent away and scanned - it is ok too) I'm really at the end of my tether here and can't seem to get help from anyone locally. I am based in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. It would be good to talk with you and hopefully acquire your services? Thanks, Andrew.

    • @mechanicmatt871
      @mechanicmatt871  3 года назад +3

      Hi Andrew this one ended up being a broken wire, it was a small brown wire in the centre plug in at the ECU. This wire is powered with the ignition switched on, to let the ECU know to switch on.
      It was not any of the thick power wires or thick ground wires.
      If you take of the cage at the ECU and remove the electrical connectors, it may be worth trying to put power through a fused jumper wire to the brown wire and see if it starts.
      If it does and you want to find the break in the wire, on this van it was near the bell housing at the top of the gearbox.
      Thanks for watching,
      If this doesn't help let me know.

      Hi, I started at the engine control unit, the four thick wires, two power and two grounds.

      I dont have any power on the wires that are going to the ecu, abs module is geting power, any idea what could it be? All the fuse are oke and no demaged wires found. Coms with all the modules are oke, only the ecu is the problem

    • @mechanicmatt871
      @mechanicmatt871  3 года назад

      Definitely needing a wiring diagram and follow the wires back to a fuse or relay.
      You could try jumping power to the two thick wires that should have it.
      It's easy to test the two that should be ground by connecting a test light to battery positive and seeing which wires light up the test light.
