Fantastic post! I've been lucky enough to find two gold coins here in the UK. One Young Head Victorian sovereign of 1857 and even better...A gold Quarter Noble of Edward the Third from about 1450. Both times I was by myself but you could probably hear my whoops your side of the pond. Huge congrats once again from Hampshire in the UK. Great channel. Look forward to more posts. Cheers PB.

Great hunt! So thankful to witness someone else that's thankful to Him. Was a real joy seeing the love of God being shared by friends while exploring mans past. Great video, you can bet i'll be back. On another note: 1) Why do they call them a ball? 2) What's a J-hook used for? New to that kind of detecting so hope ya don't mind questions. I detect nuggets of gold. Most of what we find out here is "newer" bullets.
Thanks Richard! God deserves all the glory. So for your first question they call it a ball because that was kind of just the generic term for a bullet back then even though Minieballs are not necessarily spherical. As for your second question a J-hook is also known as a knapsack hook and was used to keep a soldiers knapsack that they kept their personal belongings in closed.
That was fun watching. The excitement is catching. 😊. There is a sign about 1½ blocks to the NW of a duplex I live in SW KS, that states it was the old Santa Fe Trail. There is a lot of history surrounding this trail also. Happy hunting & stay safe. Grandma Smith.

Awesome hunt. Congrats Garrett on the gold coin. Lots of gold been coming out of the ground lately! I've never found a trime myself but hope to some day! Thanks for the video.

The Oregon Trail was a CrAzy Freaking ride man. It was dangerous, with crime and violence. It was riddled with death and illness. It was a crazy camping/party/festival/riot thing with no security It was no joke, 2170 miles of pain and sadness. Finding something from that is beyond EPIC. Great finds only 2169 miles to go! Happy Hunting!

Those things are so small! No wonder they got lost so much. I would hate to have been the guy to lose that back then. Dollar could buy a decent amount of goods.
They are small! It’s like they were asking for them to be lost with how small they are. And yeah 1 dollar in 1852 would be equivalent to about $35 today. Insane
I think the same way. I've found five silver dollars, and other old silver coins, and it seems silly, but I feel sorry for the people who lost them. They were worth a lot back then.
