The Ultimate Foghat Concert

- The great Blues-Boogie-Rock band was a noted popular live act during the 1970's. Live music and on stage Foghat was among the best.
Since I first heard them in 1972, they have been my favorite band by far. Saw them numerous times live in concert.
A Foghat concert was unbelievably high octane energy, and nearing the end of the concert fans would be on fumes to keep up the energy of the band. I remember how I felt back in the 1970’s during the last encore with Chateau Laffite ’59 Boogie (the long version like here). That amazing lead by Rod during the end with the song going at a blistering pace, then they bring it down to a almost smooth Jazz like tempo, then gear it up again to finish the song. It was amazing!
I'm dedicating this video to the late Lonesome Dave Peverett (lead vocals/guitar) and the late Rod Price (lead guitar & slide guitar/vocals). May their music soul live on!
Songs:
1. Fool for the City
2. Home in my Hand (5:30)
3. My Babe (10:27)
4. Stone Blue (14:48)
5. Eight Days on the Road (22:04)
6. It Hurts Me Too (27:55)
7. Honey Hush (37:14)
8. Sweet Home Chicago (42:51)
9. I Just Want to Make Love to You (52:01)
10. Slow Ride (1:03:19)
Encores
1. Maybelline (1:11:44)
2. Chateau Laffite '59 Boogie (1:15:57) - Наука
These days are never coming back. 70's best decade to be a teenager. Endless great music! Endless concerts! Sexual Revolution! Very little adult supervision! Seen it once. Never again.

I am 65 years old and still listening to one of the best liveconcerts ever greetings from Spijkenisse
In Holland.
I’m same age and love there music today that I did in HS!
Right on , Im right behind you
62 here, same!
67 here , still trying to play those riffs !
My 16yr old grandson and I listened to this post we were both screaming and singing...at 72 it's what you hope for. Thank you
Sure miss Dave. Foghat is in my top 10 of all time greatest true Rock and Roll Bands. Blues infused Hard Rock. Love it !!! 🎸🎸
I lived in Webster, Florida in the late 70s - early 80's and I talked a group of locals into going to the Lakeland Civic Center to see Foghat on what was the "Stone Blue" tour. The venue sat about 10,000 and it sold out. I tell people to this day this was the best live rock concert I ever saw. They played almost 2 hours and the whole concert from beginning to end, every song, was spectacular. Every song was at least slightly better than the album cut and they genuinely played like they were having the time of their lives! Infectious Exuberance!
I was fifteen in the summer of 1979 when “Third Time Lucky” was released on the charts. I distinctly remember when it began to fall from the Top 40 countdown; I was at a childhood friend’s house trying marihuana for the first time.
He told me that he was a Foghat fan; I asked him about “Third Time Lucky”, and he said he didn’t care for it. Hell, I loved it, along with Peter Frampton’s “I Can’t Stand It No More” when it was out at the same time.
👨🏻🦳🇺🇸👍🇺🇸🎹🇺🇸🎸🇺🇸🥁🇺🇸🎶
As a teenager I lived in southwestern NH, so going to concerts was a adventure!!! No car, meant leaving school early hitting the road thumb up and asking for a ride. Most of the venues were 70-120 or so miles away made the concerts & making pretty wrecked/high seen a lot of bands, foghat, the Who, Zeppelin, tull, the Kinks,Robin Thrower, CSN, CSNY,CARS FOGHAT MANY TIMES SO TIGHT, SO LOUD SOOOOO GOOOOOOOD!!!!
That what I love when a band is loving what they do, I know I would if I could.
Saw them in Lakeland Sept. 1980 during their Tight Shoes tour. Best concert I ever went to!
How the Hell can there be 169 thumbs down to this??? Great R&R blues. They had it nailed down!
Just clueless people
Completely agree! This album (Foghat Live) with only six songs is the best. I have worn out the album and two cassettes listening to this album! SIX songs!!!
This album with Kiss Alive and Frampton Comes Alive set my world on fire as a kid in the mid 70s. Very underated Band Foghat was. Saw the original band back in the 90s at The Canyon Club in Agoura and it took me back to 1975 . They nailed this Album!! Ive seen some great shows there but Foghat Blew The Lid Off The Dump!! 4 Great Musicians who need their recognition Rock in Roll HOF!!! Duh!!!
@@Malibudave777 I noticed reply might be a little late but you could also add blue oyster cult"on your feet or on your knees"the double live LP UFO"strangers in the night"also double live LP Ted Nugent"double live Gonzo"that's just the name a few more I know I'm forgetting a lot more but those three just came to mind there will never be another decade like the 70s people that didn't grow up in that particular era will not know what I'm saying but people that did will understand what I'm saying!!
Not underrated at all!!
Lots of memory recall listening to Foghat. I’ve seen them several times and we always listened to them in my youth. Awesome band!
Lonesome Dave Peverett is THE most underrated and BEST Rock Singer, not to mention a really good guitarist. FOGHAT Took kicking ass to a whole new level. Rod Price is the CHAMPION of Slide guitar. Roger Earl is solid as a rock. I can listen to Foghat all day. I do it a lot. This is what rock and roll is supposed to be. Thanks for sharing this and keeping this great band and their music alive!! (Side Note: The slide solo in "It Hurts Me Too" is absolutely insane!!!)

Lonesome Dave (RIP) had it all together. Erik Cartwright was so very good too (RIP 2017), but I've always preferred original The Bottle = Rod Price (RIP) and his SG style Gibson Les Paul. Originals Roger E. and Tony S. are so very exceptional! Mr. Earl has always been steady and there; a Mr Beat - laid just a little bit back. Tony had great substitutes like Craig MacGregor (RIP 2018) who was such a good dancer on stage, but hell, Mr. Stevens was the original bass.
Thank you Dave Peverett !!! Born April 16, 1943; RIP 56+ in Feb 2000.
>>> FOGhat; wear one!
All his slide work is insane, listen to My Babe again!
ROD PRICE is the most underrated player of all time.
@@Vonhoganschmidt-13 for sure. Rod Price is identifiable from a single note.
There's no such thing as the best ever.
Imagine having a catalog of such great live material that you open the show with your number one single? As opposed to most acts then that CLOSED the show with their big hit for an encore? These guys had the goods...They were confident enough in their collective abilities to do that and then HOLD the audience's attention for a solid 90 minutes after....Arguably the best live rock band of the era. I would take this Live album over any other group in the '70's for my sole desert island recording.
Agree 100%!
Aerosmith is about the only other band that can pull that off. Maybe Guns N’ Roses…
Saw the original lineup many times back in the day. "Lonesome" Dave Peverett and Rod Price dueling guitars. Fantastic live band. Old school
Me too, every year when they came through.
@@dwaynehall6356 They slammed Fort Hood Texas like a hurricane fury, back in 92' !! No bullshit rock!
Lucky you! One band (original lineup) I surely regretted never seeing. Savoy Brown made some great music no doubt, but sure glad the boys left and recorded all this great rock in’ roll they had in them as Foghat.
The best time!
And Slide duets, too!
I’m 64 this past July (2020) and I’ve been a fan since ‘72 when I bought the brand new album. Never had the chance to see them live, but when I put on Wild Cherry or Honey Hush or Chateau Lafitte 59 Boogie, in my mind I’m on stage with one of the best bands of the my generation. Thanks guys for letting us go along for the ride 🎸🤘🇨🇦
Saw Foghat live many many times. They were not "among the best", they were THE BEST. there is more life in this group than any other I ever saw and I am old, I saw them all

Nick Jameson was on bass for some album cuts in the 1970s - studio bass player/producer.
Rod Price is the most underated slide guitarist of all time ....a true master of the boogie woogie !!!!
And a hell of a standard lead guitarist with songs in the video of... Fool for the City... Eight Days on the Road...Honey Hush...I Just Want to Make Love to You, all playing standard lead. Check out his playing in Dreamer from 1974...amazing!

Oh yeah but dont forget Johnny Winter too.

One of the Greatest Live Rock and Roll Bands of All Time! Fog Hat could Rock with anyone!
Opened for them in '92, good times.
I did tech support for a hospital in Orlando, Fl. A lovely lady called in with a computer issue. She identified her last name as Peverett. I told her the only person I knew with that name was one of my favorite music artists, Dave Peverett. She told me she was Dave's Daughter-in-law. We talked for quite a while. She told me how wonderful a father-in-law he was. I'll never forget that call.
Lonesome Dave..RIP
That’s so awesome!
Dang dude - so cool love that connect ....
Lonesome Dave Rocks!
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing!
One of the best stage bands of the era. They always rocked the place to the ground.
I'm 60 and saw them 27 times without a doubt the most hardest working and best live act of all times Long live rock and roll boogie doggie blues keep going Roger Earl and the best thing dreesed man in rock Mr To n y Stevens
wow 27 times saw them in rochester ny mid 70's
After a local show about 8 years ago got a chance to meet Rodger Earl I said “ you know as I look back I think the reason I never finished college is because of Foghat.” He answered.” Well your one of the few that got it.” haha
Vary true
Foghat is a part of my heart and my soul. It Is hard to describe how deep of an impression their music made in my life. Through good times and bad times their music inspired me and totally uplifted me . It was like Lonesome Dave was preaching to me. Rock & Roll will help you through and it did. And I remember Lonesome Dave singing his heart out at a small club and I was singing the lyrics as loud as I could back at him and After the show he shook my hand
Foghat forever
Amen to that!
Lonesome Dave was really cool, after a show at a club I got to talk with him and the guitarist. I thanked them for such a great show, they were one of the best live acts. After a few minutes Dave asked one of the other guys to run out to the bus and grab a band photo, he got all the members of the band to sign it for me. These guys were so down to earth, that moment will live on with me! Great band!
@@obulissoutshine4921 Far Out!

2 of the best concerts ever #1 Ten Years After, Grand Funk Railroad and Savoy Brown 1970 #2 Grand Funk Railroad and Foghat 1971
some of the best rock memories at those!
Foghat, Montrose and Black Oak Arkansas, 1975, Chicago Aragon Ballroom. Not the best 3 bands I ever saw but hey, Foghat is one of my top five bands.
They played I Want To Make Love To You just like this. I get a rush EVERY TIME.
@@kathleen3177
I saw Savoy Brown in Chicago as backup to Deep Purple. Then ELO as backup to Deep Purple, then Nazareth as backup to Deep Purple then Lynryd Skynryd and Nugent as backup to Deep Purple. Get the theme?
My best rock experience was the 3 day festival in Sedalia, MO on July 19-21, 1974 when I was 15.
My first concert was November, 1973. The Edgar Winter Group with Rick Derringer plus Robin Trower.
The best one day concert was Chicago's Super Bowl of Rock with Journey, REO Speedway, Nugent, Skynryd and .38 Special. Outdoor at Soldier Field.
Hit up one of my playlists for over 1,500 rock songs, albums and concerts.
Not the same without Lonesome Dave, but they are still loud af! Bring earplugs next year!
The live shows were unreal
So great live and fool for the city and stone blue are great albums.one of the seventies most overlooked live albums
Rod Price is one badass slide guitarist.
Still think about the 70s ...Foghat is one of the best hottest boogie band in thr world, RIP...Lonesome Dave...Rod Price.
Yep if you could listen to Foghat and not find your feet moving to the beat you better check for a pulse !
At their prime these guys could rock with anyone in the world.
Not KISS

KISS is puke rock.
They had about 4 or 5 good songs, and even those were only good when they played live.
thank you !!!@@daseguin

I seen Dave and Rod in concert at a bar that was topless upstairs and a rock bar downstairs. They were great hearing all this live in 1986. Priceless!
1986? Are you sure? Cause neither guy was still in the band at that time. Lonesome Dave went back to England in late 1984. Rod Price left the band at the end of 1980 tour. They both got back together in the early 1990s as the original 4 members of Lonesome Dave, Rod Price, Tony Stevens, and Roger Earl. Today, only Roger Earl is the last remaining member still performing under the name. To me, it's no longer Foghat.
Impossible that happened in ‘86.
Definitely one of the truly greats! Saw them with the Outlaws!! Always loved the hard rockin guitars. Face it.. We had the best music and y’all are jealous😆
That must've been an awesome show. Two of my favorite live bands. I've seen them both, but not on the same bill.
I saw them with the Outlaws too, also with Kansas.
Here too
But I saw a triple bill:
Outlaws
Foghat
Max Webster
AWESOME
FANTASTIC SOUND .. LONG LIVE ROCK ROLL .. IN 10 BEST LIVE SHOW ..
the greatest party band in the world I was listening to them when they first came out when I was in high school. I really miss lonesome Dave and rod price I bet they would still be jamming today look at Roger Earl still beating them drums like he was a teenager
I seen Foghat once when they backed up Rod Stewart. They did the live album and my jaw hit the floor when I saw Rod on that slide. These guy's rocked. I was mind blown. After them, Rod Stewart came out like a lounge lizard and we left the concert. Nothing could compete Foghat. Next day I went out buying Foghat albums. Dave's voice was such a nice compliment to the music. I am thankful for their career.
Oh yeah

My brother bought the Foghat Live album and it was always played at top volume on that old stereo, just like our neighbor in El Dorado, Cebu Philippines. Woke up the neighborhood for sure. Tremendous songs which when we formed a Blues/Rock band tried to add to our repertoire. Songs like Dreamer. Stone Blue, Sweet Home Chicago, Fool for the city and Slow Ride. Whew, those were great times. Best band ever!.
I've owned this on 8 track, LP, and CD. Might need to get the remastered copy with the extry songs now.
Thanks man for bringing this Original lineup Live to mases to let here what a real band sounded like back in the 1970's.
from Jimi Hendrix to Led Zepplin I had been to many concerts but the band I saw most in concert was Foghat. hard working high energy musicians. miss them
Great job in putting this together. It certainly is helping me get through another uber-cold winter night in Minnesota. Thanks very much sir.
my bro had the 8 teack but after not being to play it on my stereo i only had cassette player.i had to buy the cassette.i was 10 years old.still love foghat niw at

I saw a clip of Foghat on some obscure show on a local access cable channel when I was 12 yrs old (1977), playing songs from the "Energized" album, and that was the beginning of my love for rock n roll...idk what it was but I became obsessed with Foghat, and it developed into a deep connection with the blues, as well as all types of rock n roll. I saw Foghat numerous times, but I finally got to see the original lineup the last time I saw them! They still kicked ass.
I wish the boys would’ve done “Drivin’ Wheel” live more often. My personal favorite!!! Straight up Rock -n- Roll!!!
Saw them in OKC in November of 1974, when they and Montrose (w Hagar) opened for J Geils. By the time J Geils took the stage, we were already partied out. Montrose and Hagar lit the fire, and then Lonesome Dave and company built it into a raging inferno. One of the most high octane concerts I ever attended.
What a lineup!!!
Chicago Ampitheater... Pat Travers and Foghat... Are you kidding me!!!??? Ears are still bleeding!!! What a show!!!

Yeah , one of the best live shows ever. Got the original vinyl record still from 1977. Still sounds amazing and the crowd vibe is palatable.
Oh yeah!! I wore that 8-track tape out!!!
Excellent compilation! Thumbs and everything else up!
Right up there with the very very very best of the LIVE ALBUMS.
They definitely weren’t just a studio band like a lot were..actually Led Zeppelin comes to mind…lol.
"Fool for the City" is the perfect record, every song!!!!
To this day I can't reconcile with the fact that these guys were a British band. They sound so much like a loud, in your face, wild, American band from Boston or Detroit or someplace like that!
@redhead sticky IT'S A CLASSIC!!,.... Big Joe Turner 1953 then Johnny Burnette 1954,....
Wow thats news for me I always thought they were American. I used to listen to them in high school in Mexico along with all the classic bands. I was 13 or so back in 1984
@redhead sticky Actually they formed in England but never ever recorded there or anywhere until relocating to the United States. With Dave Edmunds producing their very 1st album in 1972 "Foghat" I'm just saying no disrespect. I'm a huge FOGHAT fan until Tight Shoes came out. Stone Blue was heir last really good album. NIGHT SHIFT & STONE BLUE were my favorite albuns. They were very strong albuns. Guitar playing amazing on both, but Chateau Lafitte '59 Boogie from Rock N Roll Outlaws being my favorite song of theirs.
@redhead sticky that was covered 50 times by various bands over the years.....Big Joe Turner wrote it first
@redhead sticky and Foghat did it before Areosmith
Best sounding FOGHAT I've ever heard. Thanks I saw them a couple times listening to this/with headphones reminds me how hardworking and tight they were
Their Live album is one of my favorites. This version of Honey Hush is freakin stellar!!!
Great live album. However I wished it would have been a double album.

Smoking show! Thank you for sharing. It’s like IF Foghat live was the double album it always should have been! Foghat was my first rock and roll show at the tender age of 16; my older brother drove, 1980 at Oakland CA Auditorium during the Boogie Motel tour! They have always been a favorite. Also saw a couple reunion shows circa 1993 when they got all the originals back together - so much fun, super high energy! Every time I saw them I saw Dave Rod Roger, finally getting to see Tony the original bass in 1993. An unstoppable force of rock greatness! Current band is fantastic-I must see them live!
Saw them in the 70s with Montrose and the Hounds. Best ticket I ever bought.

My wife and I were so lucky to meet and sit in on drums with Mr. Jameson of Foghat and his band in Reykjavik Iceland, he told us what a sweetheart Lonesome Dave was and how much he missed him.
This is more like the live album should have been. That's a great recording but... ONE elpee? You could theoretically get this whole show on two records. What an outstanding band. Back in high school we didn't take them for granted, but they were just a hard boogie slide guitar juggernaut. Now though, all these years later, we realize how one of a kind they were - no one sounded like Foghat. And they wrote great songs - not just jam songs but really good, catchy, radio-ready songs, immediately memorable. Even their studio albums were filled with electricity. Such a great attack. They really did bring it hard and ferocious. I loved Lonesome Dave, his stage attitude was awesome. I miss you brother. Rockon!
Yeah I can remember alot people saying they weren't big fans because they were a generic Rock band lol, yet nobody sounded near as good. RIP Lonesome Dave!
Nothin better than blasting these guys at a party in the 70s. The girls would say "turn down" and the boys "turn up!"
If you claim to like Rock ´n´ Roll and at the same time you say you don´t love Foghat, there must be something wrong... either you´re lying about liking Rock ´n ´ Roll or you don´t have a clue of what it´s all about !!
I saw the original band (with either Stevens or MacGregor on bass) 25 times through the 70's and into the 90's. The combo of Lonesome Dave and the great Rod Price was amazing in concert!
That's what Van Halen fans say and I'm not into VH; so I guess I don't have a clue on what Rock and roll is about.
Perhaps more VH fans need to listen to Foghat! ; )

Thanks for posting this video. I was in college during the mid-70's and can't tell you the number of times we played air guitar to Foghat after having a few beers and a doobie.
I know about Foghat, brews & doobs! Yes sir ree Bob...
when I heard them for the very first time....they blows my mind!
Man this whole concert is awesome. Every song is like a diamond waiting to be found
Always my boys🎸❤️And long over due for the Hall of Fame.
That right they need to be
They have too much R&R integrity for the R&R hall of fame.
Foghat was my first concert at 14 yrs old.......saw them in Jacksonville, FL, 1978. Loved their blues rock!
The perfect band for a first concert.
I saw them in South Carolina around 75 . Great show, my ears are still ringing.
Craig Powerplay 8-track w/4 Jenson Speakers cranked up in my jacked up '71 MonteCarlo👍🏼
I listened to Foghat regularly back in H.S. and I still do to this day. I love this music and I can't get enough. I like Gustavo Mesquita's comment below and totally agree.
It is by far one of the best shows. I was only 14 years old when Energized came out. I remember listening to that album on a console stereo on my porch running the wire to the headphones out the window. One of my all time favorite albums. So glad I grew up in the era of the greatest rocknroll shows and music ever in history❤I’m glad it’s a good loud recording! Turn it up to 11
Great collection of songs and very awesome pictures.
Met these guys in Chicago, IL at a record store promotion. Each of them signed their Live Album. I wish I still had it. Very fond memory meeting them.
Those of us who were teens in the 70's were lucky as hell. We were living great days and had no idea how much we would miss them... There will never be a time like this again.
