I'm here for my Mom who passed away last March 23. She would tell me to Crank up this concert everyday. I love and miss you Mom♥️
Me and a friend tried to get tickets to a Destroyer concert at the then Glassboro Sate College in NJ back in 1978. By the time we got there the show was sold out but we were determined to see George Thorogood that night so we decided to climb through an open window in the locker room of the Glassboro gymnasium. We jumped to the floor and to our surprise there was George, his brother, and the rest of the band sitting on the floor and locker room benches throwing down a ton of Miller High Life before the show!...George said, "Welcome to the warm-up party" as he handed us both a cold Miller. We sat and drank and bullshitted with those guys for an hour while the back-up bands performed. (It was some kind of Battle of the Bands Night). When the real show started George turned to us and said "You guys just hang with my brother and no one will bother you." We stood the entire show behind a curtain no more than ten feet from where George was performing! For a seventeen year old kid from Jersey, this was the definition of heaven! George and his brother were great guys. Very down to earth and very cool at the same time. I recall George kept saying how this was his last show before summer and wouldn't be performing again until September when softball season was over....I think he liked softball almost as much as Rock & Roll! ROCK ON GEORGE!!!!
Thanks for sharing that great story. Good to hear he is friendly and down to earth and good to the fans.
awesome story!! I live near Rowan over in West Deptford.
Chris Donohue coolest story ever!
dude thats so badass. legendary story
I may live in the city but i know bullshit when i see it .
If you in a bad mood just turn on George Thorogood and you are happy again! Great show!!!
George Thorogood is massively underrated
If ya mood is no good, George is always here to make it thoro *good.*
George is the man
You can say that again. So immensely talented!!
I'm only now get into this guy and he is talented as hell.
Who ever said he was underrated? I've never heard that.
George Thorogood looks exactly how I imagined he would. Incredible performance.
One of the most highly underrated musicians/artist. His music makes anyone’s leg tap, like it or not.
he definately is MOVED by his music....I've always liked GT and the Destroyers...
Hell yes brother !!!!
enormously charismatic performer too
Hell, even the Wellington boot-boys kicked the doors in at the Wellington Town Hall and I do believe it would have been about 1984. Thankyou to George and his Band the Delaware Destroyers for the good times and memories. Yes sir. God bless them.
Don't think this way man, I'm from Italy and I know him, and of course I have all his albums. One of the flags of pure, original rock n roll music.
The special guests we're the best part, this remains one of the greatest live performances of all time.
I'm 67 worked with a lot of the best bands as back stage security had a great life only came across gorge few years back Up there with the best
This is possibly the greatest LIVE performance ever recorded... prove me wrong .....
Yeah right after Woodstock and Cornell 77 people are always talking about this one…
It’s good, but it didn’t have the impact that some things did. The concert for Bangladesh, for example, or even some legendary bb king shows.
This is good but it’s not Hendrix setting a guitar on fire legendary, even if it’s very high quality
I'm not trying to prove anything... but watch Lynyrd Skynyrd Live at Knebworth in 76 and prove ME wrong...
It's damn good but I wouldn't go that far
@@mr.breeze8796 I’ll check it out, I don’t know their catalog just the hits.
There is a Kid Rock live performance with a small crowd in Memphis I believe, that is right up there.
Did anyone have more fun on stage than George Thorogood? A man that genuinely loves his craft.......and how many performers pay such homage to those that inspired them? GT brought Albert Collins on stage with him at his Live Aid performance of Madison Blues as well and that brought Albert Collins more attention that he would have ever received otherwise. Like his music or not, GT is a class act.
So right
@@alanpowell8868 maybe Rory Gallagher?
George Thorogood is massively underrated
You're right
said who? he is stacked.
i wouldnt say that
I just told someone that an hour ago
Why don't you rate him?
I was in a bar in Montecito CA in 89 and he was drinking there. A few drinks down he got up and asked if he could play a few songs for the crowd. I was blown away!!!
So much respect for George for bringing so many blues stars on his stage that night 👍👍👍
@gilbertocruz1683,absolutely magnificent greatly right, FRANKLIN BOROUGH, SUSSEX COUNTY,NJ ,11:51PM APRIL 03 2024....😮
What a BLAST of energy!!! 😊😅🎉❤😂
It was an awesome show
George Thorogood is so damn good looking. I remember being so shocked when I first saw him- that voice coming out of that boyish face and that body! What stage presence. There will never be another like him, and no other sound like his. The entire band is so massively talented. It doesn't get any better than this!
Many years ago, I went into my local bar in Toronto after work to find George Thorogood sitting at a table with Ronnie Hawkins! The only people in the bar were them, George's bodyguard and John the bartender. They invited me to have a beer with them! I was only about 18 yrs. old and so nervous! lol They immediately picked up on that and made me feel so comfortable by telling jokes and just being real true gentlemen! :) George and Ronnie were 2 amazingly talented men back then, and still are to this day! God Bless you both for making this world a better place! XO :) I still love your music to this day! :)
jo jo pink great history, george is the best!
jo jo pink Cool story. Always loved George. Thanks for sharing..
jo jo pink I saw George and the Stray cats at a bar in Palo Alto California back in 78 I think (I don't remember the name of the place). He was small time back then... I was 18 or 19 also but had a fake iD as many of us did back then. The place wasn't crowded but was rock'n! After the show I saw George at the bar and bought him a beer (as I vaguely recall it was "last call"). We chatted about him doing a party that I was having the next month and he seemed interested in the money. He gave me a number to call about arranging it, but I lost it. Wouldn't that have been cool!
Steve Gauvin
Awesome story! How cool is it that we can both look back and share such great memories? :)
+jo dollar Drinking age in Canada is 18?
I LOVE the sly look on his face when George says " Every night in Jersey is a jamboree and hoot nanny". It's not just his music that impresses me. Its his whole attitude on life in general!
It has to be said that George has a script that he sticks to for every gig! Still, a great live show I grant you!
@@MrDorbel Dmn straight out jam out!

He has a Beautiful Heart n Soul ♥
Many years ago on my wife’s 30 th birthday, we were visiting relatives in Bangor , Me . 30 years ago , I saw George ‘s truck out in front a a small rock and blues bar downtown , the night before they were to play in the Bangor Auditorium. Didn’t tell her what I saw, just got her to go out and when we arrived she knew why I hadn’ t said where we were going . She also got carded going in that night. Still one of our favorite memories. And yes we are still together !

If you in a bad mood just turn on George Thorogood and you are happy again! Great show!!!
Damn sure man 💪😎👍
This really true
so true
I believe that somewhere in the world, there are people who feel the same emotions that I feel when I listen to masterpieces like this song.
I had to opportunity to sit up close, live at B.B. King's former supper club in NYC. I had the best seat in the house. He delivered big time!!! I was NOT disappointed.
One thing I've always enjoyed about a George show (seen him four times) is that it doesn't matter if he's playing for 100 or for 15,000, it always feels like a rockin' blues band playing in a dark, smokey bar.
on that note.... I'll never forget that around this time (early 80's), within a year I saw him both at a less-than-full ratskellar at Nassau Community College (Long Island) and headlining at Madison Square Garden. And if memory serves, at MSG while on top of an amplifier he slipped and came down hard on one leg, though hardly missing a beat and certainly finishing the show. A few nights later there was supposed to be a live broadcast from another east coast locale (Boston?), but they had to play a previously recorded gig due to illness/injury? Always wondered if there was a connection.
one of the most underrated rhythm sections in the history of all rock and roll and r&b and blues...solid, grooving, disciplined, never play anything that doesn't need playing
And, get everything that DOES need playing right!
Dave Dederer, that is a helluvagood summation.
and so frikkin tight. yeah....no wasted motion. ive watched this 15 times and get glassy eyed everytime. so damn solid.
Love it! You know what you're going to get from George Thorogood and the Destroyers, and they deliver every time.
If you like every tune in 4/4 time, this is for you.
Saw George for the first time in 1981 opening for the Stones at the Super Dome. He just killed it. That concert BTW broke the 33 year old world record for the largest indoor audience. Saw him again two days ago at the Ryman Auditorium. He killed again. One of the best showmen on the planet.
I remember that show. 87,500 people. The Neville bros opened, then George, then the Stones. One of the best shows ever.
@@sidneywike6440 I saw George on that same Stones tour in SF. Saw him about a year before in a small nightcub The Old Wardolf in SF. Till this day one of the best shows i have ever seen and i have seen hundreds of shows
Saw George in 89 at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. I saw The Rolling Stones at The Fox Theater in St Louis and they were so loud the music shook my clothes. Third row seat and I saw Lou Reed at the Fox Theater. Lou Reed was so wild he tore up all of the equipment at the end of the show.
This is the best concert I've seen Thorogood do so far. I don't know who the sax and other guitar player are but this group is the best I've heard.
This is beyond awesome! George is a one-man guitar army all by himself...but then he's joined by the great Elvin Bishop and the legendary Albert Collins? And then he brings out Willie...freakin'..Dixon?!? And then The Hook himself? Too much!
What an incredible show, by an incredible showman. George Thorogood isn't a rock & roller, he IS rock & roll.
Rock on George!
You can SAY THAT AGAIN… KEEP ROCKIN GEORGE!!! OH YEAH!!!!!!!
Yes indeed...approaching the Surreal Blues !🤩
grew in Delaware down the road from George. my brother played baseball with him. he's a great guy who is down to earth. fame has never changed him.
Is it hard to believe that he gave up a promising baseball career to play the guitar instead? Na, he made the right choice!
We are Blessed Everyday with the Love that we get from the Lord up above us Thank you Father for watching over US.
George Thorogood is just so cool! How can anyone not like the guy and that great band of his?
best live version of one bourbon, one scotch, one beer i've heard.
Except that he never talks about going over to his good friend's house
@@Nova-fh2et hahahha but still
Absolutely I totally agree

AMAZING !!! Man we're they having a BLAST with that song 😎🔥 ELVIN BISHOP are you kidding me !!! WOW 🤯🤯😱🤗🤩🤩🤩🤩
LOVE THAT SOLO SIR !! and just watching Georges face after he says he and the Drummer listened to ELVIN and they started Jamming Together. He looked as if he was having a Dream Come True playing with one of HIS IDOLS 🤩😎😎😎 a Great thing to share👍😎
Such wonderful music and on top of that is the warm, generous feeling that pervades the whole concert. George is willing to take center stage with his great energy and guitar skills but also more than happy to share the limelight with others, and stand aside to appreciate and celebrate them. Whole thing makes me smile!
I saw George play in Portland Maine on the waterfront in 2016 or 17. He was still rocking hard. I rode my Harley 60 miles to see that show. It was a sketchy ride back home after. But I made it
His slide style is tremendous! Mississippi blues and rock and roll in perfect harmony
This guy is such a performer... plays to the crowd, gets respect, entertains... gives off so much energy it must have been such a privilege to have seen this live.
He's touring as we speak!!!
@@jamesefenton i seen him live in Glasgow… 😎 40 years he has been playing to live audiences and I still felt privileged to see him….
The blues is forever. George and The Destroyers toured Australia in the late 80s. The boundless warmth, charisma and energy they brought to their shows remains a treasured teenage memory. Music and pure joy. He took us there. Thank you.
Yup. Exactly
As my mom always said. “George is thoroughly good”
She wasn't wrong at all
Haha
I've seen George play several times at Red rocks in Colorado you've been the best shows I've ever seen
The SAX man is so underrated to me and gets George the extra sound that you can't not want to dance too facts Awsome concert
Tvgh bdes

Here hold my Sax....🙂🙃🙂🙃
Yes! The saxman is a rhythm guitar and keyboard rolled into one, as well as a great soloist. Love it.
The best concert I ever saw was George Thorogood and the destroyers at Baltimore civic center back in the 80s right around this time
Hank Carter on the Sax so good RIP
George for many of us was our introduction to the Blues. Not just the music, but the names of so many legendary Blues artists. From George, our exploration of the Blues began. Muddy Waters. John Lee Hooker. So many, many more. Thanks, George.
When i was around 10-11yrs old i started playing the harp and through that was first introduced into the wonderfull world of the blues and since im a harp player artist such as Little Walter, Sonnyboy Williamson, Sonny Terry, James Cotton and many others. Im 56 yrs old and still listen to this classic music and so overjoyed many new artist are keeping the blues alive. EVERYBODY ROCK&BLUES ON!
Oh yeah Thorogood rocks and rolls
yes first time I heard him on our local radio station late at night, the DJ played a couple of his songs (Move It On Over & Who Do You Love) from his new LP Move It On Over. I was hooked and bought the album the next day and turned on everyone I knew to him. It was our party album for 1978 I was 16.
That is so true. George is responsible for my John Lee Hooker sides and that entire portion of my record collection. Muddy, Wolf, Charlie all great music that I discovered thanks to George
50 days, 50 shows in 50 States!
Thanks for the Rock and Roll George! Party On!
Always been a George Thorogood fan (even before I knew it was him singing all those classic tunes), but never seen him perform live until now. Wow what a show, great live performer - even contends his incredible studio recordings. What a legend
Seen George around 15 times. Only concert I will drop everything to go see whenever he comes to New England! He is the BEST! Cant wait to see him again in September! Thanks for all the good times, George!
Yes indeed. Live shows are the greatest. His dance moves are too crazy. honky tonk jitter moves, that was way then, way back.
@@rafehr1378 gorge
The Destroyers were always a great sounding live band. Every instrument sits perfectly in the mix. The Bass guitar is fat yet punchy, the sax rumbles & screams, George's guitar is full of mids with that cool boxy tone, his vocals are gritty and cut through the mix and the snare drum is deep yet still cracks. That snare sound is always a dead give away. When you hear it, you know it's the Destroyers. This band def deserved their name rather than just "George Thorogood's backing band". They were a big part of George's sound and a super tight band.
I fully agree with this. I am not aware about the current line up, how long playing together or if there were many changes but I saw them in concert last July and is true they are a "super tight" solid band and one of the ones who better understand why people go to a concert and give audience what they are looking for.
@@Tronko14 What you paid to see him?
This man just taught me riffs that are so simple and yet I never thought of them.
I have been a FAN of this guy since what, 1982? Seriously, this Lonesome George right here is super legit.
George is such a performer LIVE...……….
Rock is truly rock when its live
George mach bigger than even the Rolling Stones to me.
Such a job!
WoW !!!
Agree
But I love George Thorogood.I don’t like the Rolling Stones
They’re big fans of each others. Charlie Watts asked for his autograph. True story!
WOO-HOO ~~ Lonesome George & the Deleware Destroyers! Always fantastic, saw them 27 times. It's time for me to do it again,. How Sweet It Is!!!! Thanks for video/memories.
I remember going to his concert at the Village Hotel Rydalmere, Sydney Australia. We had no idea who this guy and his band was. Best 10 bucks we ever paid. Absolutely gold.
lucky guy!!!
WOAH...THE ICEMAN! ALBERT COLLINGS! What a great surprise!
That must have been one amazing concert.
If you in a bad mood just turn on George Thorogood and you are happy again! Great show!!!
George is a BEAST on slide guitar!!! And great vocalist!! Lightning bolts come out of this guy when he performs!! lol
Still watching in 2019. What an amazing concert to have been at, blues legends as back up but paying homage at the same time, legend.
I was at this concert. One of my first concert. Do you remember who all the special guests were?
You can tell it's George with three notes of his guitar!!! Such a distinct sound!
I remember this as an MTV special when I was a kid....ELVIN BISHOP, JOHN HAMMOND, ALBERT COLLINS, JOHN LEE HOOKER killed it!...Thanks for posting this
Wishing I had been there!!
Loved seeing John Hammond! I loved that voice from Who Do You Love! I never knew till today what his name was & what a huge role his father played in changing the music industry! Making history! This was great to see! I used to take their cassette to work, among others & play them while I worked 3rd shift!
THERE'S NOTHING THAT CAN COMPARE WITH HIS MUSIC ITS MIND BLOWING YOUR WHOLE BODY MIND JUST MOVES 😃
I have to admit, George and band are some of the best entertainers I've ever heard/seen! Just wow!
After the little nursery songs babies learn, my son learned “bad to the bone”. His little baby accent!, oh so cute.
Just saw George in Milwaukee. So good, still rocking.
These guys came out the starting gate Killing it!! Thanks a Million!! 🎸🎸
Being born in 77', and having been strolling through the musical road of history, through the graciousness of the wonderful humans who obtain all these great performances and youtube for being the platform to launch it all, i have come to the conclusion, that i missed most of the greatest musical acts in history in there prime or all together.
You are so correct. There will never be cats like this again. I’ve made it my mission to see as many of the acts from the 60s and 70s as possible because once they are gone there are no replacements.
R.I.P. Hank Carter, I grew up in Newark Delaware and was lucky to witness much of the great music these guys created in the many bands they were in around town before hooking up with George. There was always amazing local music back then. Hank was also a really good guitarist and a great guy.
Just saw him Monday night, it was honestly a dream come true, the performance was everything I thought it would be and more! He has the same showmanship and energy in this video as he did then, I'm still thinking about that gig a week later! I think the greatest rock and roll act going, if not ever!!
I liked seeing George in the crowd that last song, looking up and enjoying the show himself.
ENJOYING THE SHOW HIMSELF. YES.

Come on take a little walk with me honey & tell me "Who Do You Love?" " Who Do You Love Child?" John Hammond doing this song with George is just incredible...
I saw George and the Delaware Destroyers in San Diego in 1982. Open seating (it was standing room only)-I do not recall any chairs. Anyway my two friends and I pushed our way to the front of the stage (I know what a weasel). I was slapping George on his boots and he was sweating all over the stage. Dude is awesome, Bad to the Bone tour. He said it was his birthday so no opening act and he rocked the house. Cheers George and thank you for rocking the place
WoW. Crazy how George & Destroyers how Great they were in the 1980s. Before Sax player asked to play with them joined, Destroyers kept him. Music was Super but, blow my mind was his Dancing while singing and riffing guitar strokes. I was hooked for life. Dancing with that Big Ass guitar.
Rhythm and Blues, Rock n'' blues, country blues,, whatever you call it, Thorogood does it good. Music that lives forever
Probably the best concert i have seen.....
what always amazed me about George Thorogood is that he sang so many songs about drinking and getting stoned drunk and he was sobor as can be on stage and fuckin rock and rolled non stop.
Tremendous!! Saw him in the 80s front row!! Merryville Indiana.
Excellent show! Blues, country, boogie rhythm and blues, rock`n`roll and much more! Pure satisfaction! Great artist!
He's sooo BADASS
Oh hell yeah!! Albert would've taken that guitar out to the frickin' parking lot if the cord was long enough. Dude was putting on a show. Thanks for posting this amazing video my friend, awesome stuff indeed.
This Band and me have been working with the team for the past few days and I am very excited about meeting with the world's most important team in the field 🙌and the best of peoples ❤!!!!

This is so great! I just saw him again in concert. December 17, 2021 in Dallas. Just as great as ever.
Check out Russian band SLOT
**Speechless** The whole band is just downright epic!
I saw George play the old Hordern Pavilion in Sydney in 1985. The wooden planks used as seats were being broken all over the place from people dancing on them. I've never seen a concert go off like that one. George was the closest guitarist I've seen to Angus Young for energy on stage.
Simply AWESOME!!!!!!! ….. I also got to see George & The "Destroyer's" LIVE back in 1984. Talent & Blues that Rocks your Soul!! :)
Passion and love for his music , in every way a true master of his craft, and it’s wonderful to listen to him perform .

In the 80s = George was a puzzle piece. Fit perfectly into the craziness.
When I was at the University of Delaware, George lived in the dorm right next to mine, although I had never heard of him. I was interested in the blues and rock-n-roll, and my friend who lived in the same dorm as George told me that a guy there had two LPs for sale, a Chuck Berry and a Little Richard, both from 1958. I went to the room number and knocked on the door, and there were 3 guys in the room, and they sold me the 2 LPs for $1 each !! Even then I thought that that was a fabulous bargain: I would have gladly paid $5 each. I reckon that Thorogood might have been one of the 3 guys.
And Lonesome George is still out there rockin’ it. Saw him this year, last year, and many times before. Respect.
I want to go to hos concert he rocks
Saw him in for the first time in 1985 in Philly and again in 2017 and this year. He still rocks.
@@vinceriordan3245 I have never got to see him but oh how I wish I could someday. But that will never happen. But in my book he is the tops in rock/blues and showmanship a class act.
George and the gang never get old. Live is another true tale. Unreal sounds, lyrics, dancing. Enough said!
This shit's crazy knowing that George is criminally underrated.
He deserves SO MUCH credibility.
Whenever I listen to rock music it always reminds me of my youth. I'm 62 years old and I was born on December 15, 1959 and I remember when I was in my 20s in the 80s me and my friends had a lot of fun. We grew up in a rural town called valley center. There was a mobile home park in valley center called minseund mobilehome park on lake wholford road thats where we grew up. There was a little canal near by that we called the flume but it's actually called the escondido canal. We used to ride it from place to place with innertubes. I remember there was also stagecoach trails near by that were covered in brush and we would hike them. I remember having a bunch of friends on the San Pasqual indian reservation. I remember breaking into a dam and we would just hang out there. That was back in the 70s when we were teenagers. In the 80s I was still living in valley center and I remember living at the oakvale mobilehome park in 1980 when I was 20 and buying a camper in 1984 when I was 24 and living on my friend's property. Then in 1987 when I was 27 I moved onto my friends property on the San Pasqual indian reservation. Then in 1992 when I was 32 I moved onto my other friend's property on the San Pasqual indian reservation. Then in 1998 when I was 38 I was arrested with my Then girlfriend for drug charges. Because back then I used to do speed which is methamphetamines. I started doing that shit in 1978 when I was 18. But when I went to jail I got clean from it. Thats my life story thank you for reading.
80's FN bad ass
These guys are the absolute best. You can't find music like this anymore.
saw him in CA in the early 90's and got the whole band's autograph on a 45, my ears rang for 3 days after that show. Epic.
