The „Satan of Slide“, as the international press calls George Thorogood because of his grand talent for the use of the bottle neck, is mixing urban blues, rock’n’roll and rythm & Blues and created a set with songs of well-known artists like Elmore James, John Lee Hooker, Bo Diddley or Chuck Berry. The critics agree that he is playing in the same league with Johnny Winter or Rory Gallagher. The band interrupted their US tour to fly over to Germany for this gig, so they were in perfect shape and raised the tension from the opener „House Of Blue Lights“ over the popular „One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer“ and the current hit single „Who Do You Love“ to the furious finale with Chuck Berry’s „Reelin‘ And Rockin“. The DVD+2CD digi contains many photos and professional liner-notes and is a sought-after part of our popular Rockpalast series. Rockpalast is a production of WDR Germany.

I saw him in June 1978 in Dingwalls in London. He played a couple of sets until quite late, I had to walk home and didn’t get back until well after 3.00 am. Well worth it though, he rocked.

Saw George & the Destroyers in Tulsa, OK 🇺🇸 at the Cain’s Ballroom around ‘92. We were standing up close to the stage.
Local Tulsa actor Gary Busey (the Buddy Holly Story), proceeded to join George in song singing next to him. Some azz hat from the audience threw a glass beer bottle at his face, cutting him, he left the stage post haste! It sure added to the “ambiance” of the evening, was so darn shocking!
Love George’s Boogie Woogie Rock ‘N’ Roll blues style. ❤❤❤
