LYRICS:
Neon Red Gavin Dunne 2019
A violet light colours my bed
Digital ghosts traverse the highways in my head
Organic shell I ever shed
I see the world in neon red
Like human hues that I have bled
Sanguine and scarlet are the lights out in the spread
They flicker over roads ahead
I see the world in neon red
The mind and the spirit amplified
Running out on the edge
Running out on the edge
To break every limit, maximize
Running out on the edge
Running out on the edge
Whether by wire or spitting lead
There is no techno evolution for the dead
Psychotic dreams, a rising dread
I see the world in neon red
The mind and the spirit amplified
Running out on the edge
Running out on the edge
To break every limit, maximize
Running out on the edge
Running out on the edge

Super Cool song, Gav. Let this be the comment you judge your work by, and not the very limited number of haters
Are you going to put together an Outer Worlds piece? I've always loved your New Vegas track.
I know it's not a new release, but I'd love to hear you do a Stellaris song sometime! Also, great song as always! Sounds kind of similar to Replica
@@adamd1383 Probably! I wanna do another New Vegas song too
Amazing songs as always.
CD project Red needs to hire Gavin to work with their game’s composer to make original songs in game.
I would love to, but the musicians they have are fab. I am sure the soundtrack will be amazing, Marcin is an incredible artist!
EDIT: Yes, I did offer, of course I did :D
I've been wishing for this exact thing ever since City of Night was released! 🤟😩
But maybe some track (maybe this very one) for "credits" or smth. Maybe that kind of cooperation, CDPR is so pro Community that I don't think they would not include (read not get an agreement with Authors) of great and fitted in pieces like this one.... Why not to try? ;)
@@BartBear And they have talked about cooperating with musicians to work on original music for the radio stations. Gav's certainly got a place in there! Especially since many peeps over at CDPR are fans of his
@@miracleofsound If I remember Wasteland 2 used your song for the credits and Seven: Days long gone also had a song from you
It's songs like this that will get me addicted to gaming again.
It's the best art form if done properly, why not enjoy it
Amen
I gotta agree, everytime I listen to his Witcher stuff I redownload Witcher 3
When overwatch was releasing, i was kinda sold thanks to Gav, wouldn't rly mind the game otterwise... Or the wreck that is DA Inqui... Hez making better marketing stuff than corresponsing studios lul
It simply refilled mine
Game not even out yet and Gav's giving it the Witcher treatment
CDPR seems to have that kind of effect on him

The game might be bugged, but Gavin’s songs are flawless 👍
“I see the world in-“ “NEW BLACK GOLD!”
I would like to see that crossover / collaboration
@@legiongamerworkbruhben6058 Isn't neon gold just bright yellow though?
Gavin is the only musician I’ve met who can create 3 songs for the same thing and still give them all a distinct theme and feeling
And yet still have shared threads weaving them all together.
how many witcher songs does he have? like, 5? 6?
City of Dreams, Neon Red, what else?
The synthwave instrumental of this song is amazing
This has got me even more motivated for the game's release.
Callbacks:
Running out on the edge - callback to city of night and city of dreams
The mind and the spirit amplified - callback to "push my mind into overload" in city of dreams
To break every limit, maximize - is this a reference to natural heart "pushing the rivets, straining the limit?"
Psychotic dreams, a rising dread - dreams refers to city of dreams, and psychotic might be from psychotic smile from city of night
Neon red - may come from black spires, neon lights from city of dreams
What did I miss?
Not saying your wrong, as you very well could be correct, or both of us! But 'I see the world in neon red' I'm pretty sure is for the new tabletop pen and paper rpg Cyberpunk Red which the game is based off. That and/or in the hackerspace (forgot what it's called in-universe) everything is red tinted.
"digital ghosts traverse the highways in my head" - "I'm just a number riding solo in the code [...] I'm a ghost in the city of night"
TBH I don't think the Natural Heart reference applies, since it's about _Deus Ex_ rather than _Cyberpunk_
@@Epicmonk117 It could, as both Cyberpunk and Deus Ex are in the same genre.
Seeing everything in Neon Red?
Nah you're just a Terminator
That or a call of duty protagonist.
@@jimijenkins2548 Bloody screen so real also you got promoted master master Sergeant first class.
@@Siegberg91 Damn, I was holding out for Lieutenant Colonel. Next year, I guess.
@@jimijenkins2548 there are no protagonists in CoD, just drones to be used until expended. A stark metaphor for war, and how it views human beings as expendable cogs - as well as triple-A gaming and how it mistakes games for a stringed-together series of movie set-pieces filled with meaningless single-use gimmicks.
@@eviljesus84 I'm pretty sure I played a protagonist in the MW series.
The fist one was the wondrous part of cyberpunk, this one feels more down and gritty. Love it
You managed to use "sanguine " outside the 1920s. You're a poet Gav.
Yesterday, during watching Cyberpunk: Edgerunners: Edgerunners... Wait, I hear that before
Today: Сan't stop humming "Running out on the edge"
Thanks, Gavin, for this cool song.
Zamn, beat me to it
Today's my birthday and literally a few hours earlier I was looking for a new song release and listening to City of Dreams - and now this. Your timing is perfect. Thank you for a great ending to an already perfect day!
Also, I love the callback to City of Night. Still one of my favourite songs.
Happy birthday! :D
Late happy birthday :)
Felix Gemünd
1.) Happy birthday
2.) Gav dropped his last song just before mine
Help, I can't stop listening to this song! The dark bass and the "running out on the edge" refrain is everything.
Lol, I was just thinking about when the next MoS song was coming out. You're a wizard Gav!
"I see the world in neon red" when users start their review bombing
It's not review bombing if they're sincere about it. We need a different term for this.
The first 10 second of the instrumental are honestly one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard. It immediately puts you in the right mood to enjoy this song.
Miracle of Sound and Aviators are complete legends. I don't believe theres any type of music these doods cant make.
Can you even imagine how good this game is going to be: CP2077 hasn't even released and Miracleofsound already has made three songs!
If we’re going by song its already Witcher 3/Skyrim tier
@@Ydrakar and GoT pre-S6/7 tier...(can't remember when the 3rd song dropped).
Three, eh? Let me tell you about "Cyber Psychosis"...
Well, I'm sure it's gonna be at least Witcher 3 tier, if not higher. CDPR is always welcome to pleasantly surprise me...
Man, these comments aged like milk huh?
Man, seriously Gav. At the end of every song I think to myself "damn this was good, can't see him topping this one!". Yet you prove me wrong. Every. Time. Looking forward to your next song \m/
I KNOW RIGHT?!
I would do unspeakable things, for the opportunity to see Gav perform this live, in concert. The final "I SEE THE WORLD IN NEON REEEEED" gives me absolute CHILLS
"Aw man, City Of Dreams was a good song, wonder if Gav's gonna make ano-"
Gavin: CDPR made a new trailer? Hold my beer and watch me make magic again.
I've gotta say I Ike this so much more than City of Dreams.
same. I like City of Dreams, but this captures a lot of what made City of Night one of my favorites.
Literally tripled my 'coming home' speed by seeing Gav's notification.
Was rewarded handsomely for my haste. Splendid! Absolutely splendid.
*"The mind and the spirit amplified,"*
I just realized that Gavin makes the distinction between "mind" and "spirit" in this line.
This is important because the Soul is explicitly a measurable, observable, and quantifiable thing in the Cyberpunk universe.
Perfect song for an RPG I've got running, called Neon. Crazy how your songs are allways fitting for situations I find myself in. Keep your great work up!
I really love the "glitch" effect you put on the vocals, it gives me chills every time.
Incredible! Loooove how raw everything sounds, especially the vocals.
Fun fact - the first version of the song was softer & cleaner with a much more controlled, layered vocal - I changed it out for the more growly, punky, imperfect one because I felt it fit the source material better :)
@@miracleofsound Huh, interesting! I definitely think this was the way to go with the song. It's very different from your other Cyberpunk songs, and that's kind of "refreshing" in a way. :)
@@miracleofsound Ooo, would you like to release that other one with cleaner, layered vocals? I was actually wondering whether to post that I thought the vocals needed something extra. Instrumental is great though. I guess I kinda feel tighter vocals fit the electronic sound. Comparing, for example, to Salvation Code by Scandroid. I like the lyrics, too, just the line 'running out on the edge' needs a little something extra.
Hits different now that cyberpunk 77 is now out
I don't find it does, but I wasn't hyped for 2077 anyway. I just like the song :)
@@sebastianrochefort6763 cyberpunk 2077 isn't bad, it has some problems, i agree, but the artistic direction is very good, the main quest, secondary quest and the character are well written, the soundtrack are insane and we have many ways to aboard the big majority of the quests (it's not as advanced as what we wanted , but many quests have differents ways to end dépends on our playstile or our dialogues choice. )
Well, 'Neon Red' & it's instrumental version are now officially my "song to loop whilst coding". Thank you very much for creating it, Gavin.
I'm not usually into synthwave at all, but I swear you can make any genre sound so cool, It is impossible not to like.
This is the masterpiece that Cyberpunk 2077 could've been.
Underneath the bugs and glitches is an amazing game, an amazing story, and an amazing experience. People were waiting desperately for this game. People held out for so long to see if the game would get better. There are plenty of game devs and studios who would love to get a second chance like that. But is's been almost a year since the game's release. I don't think that Cyberpunk will get better. And if it does, it's likely that people won't even notice at this point.
My guess is it's gonna be like New Vegas and Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines. The existing community is gonna be fixing it for a decade and more, with people realizing it's great around the 6-7 year mark.
"There is no techno evolution for the dead" is one of my favorite lines from any of your songs. Not only does it just sound really cool, but placed in the context of cyberpunk it reads to me (whether or not you intended it that way) as a condemnation of the "ends justify the means" approach that a lot of people have when justifying certain exploitative, harmful systems (*cough*capitalism*cough*) by saying that they bring "innovation" and through scientific and technological advancement ultimately improve everyone's lives in the long run - but what does that advancement matter to the mountain of dead bodies sometimes required to get there?
Couldn't have put it better myself.
That moment when Karl Marx was the one to suggest that the "Ends Justify the Means".
Not hating actually found this pretty funny, but when talking about capitalism's flaws try to not to confuse the "Communist Manifesto" with "Corporation Corp's. Plans for World Domination".
Felling exactly the same. Deus Ex struck same note strongly, but this one-liner is the essence of it.
@@drewbroadway637 Marx said it, Capitalists live it. (Machiavelli said it first though IIRC)
@@MasterDracoDeity Like I said man, no disrespect. I just thought it was funny.
Gav, this just gets into my head and I keep muttering it under my nose every day. Great job, right in the middle of my recent dark-synthwave fascination!
This song made me bye the game and I'm so glad it did
We have a Like button to burn!
Gotta love me some of them City of Night references, it's one of my favourites from your older stuff. Present in this one and City of Dreams as well. Keep it up!
This makes me want the game more than the premise and trailers ever have!
Damn, this is redder than the rivers in Assassin's Creed!
Wow the glitch effect was a nice touch
This is absolutely amazing. You've really outdone yourself.
Welp, it's a very buggy release, but we finally have the game on PC. Loving it.

You always seem to amaze me with every song you release.
A new song, a new game, a new favorite!

More like Mass Effect mixed with Metal Gear.
I mean all those things have elements that Cyberpunk 2020 helped pioneer so it makes sense.

Ah the hype for cyberpunk never seems to cease! Loving it!
Oh my gosh another one 😍 Thank you for fueling my love for gaming & music at the same time- amazing work 🔥❤
Hi Gav! Awesome song, really dig the rhythm on this one. It's almost like an evolution of the original City of Night...
I do love it when Gav brakes out the synth and just goes to town on it
Brilliant as always Gav. I get so dang hyped when I see a notification that you've put out a new video. And the sound at 1:49 is something else, just superb.

I love your synthwave content, it just rocks so hard. Can't wait to leave this one on repeat with the other two in my playlist.
Another cyberpunk song?! Gav you are spoiling us!
Your work is as always, Breathtaking! ^^
I fucking love the chord progression callbacks to City of Night. It's just so subtle, but so powerful.
Great fucking job, Gav (as if that even had to be said)
First, City of Dreams, then Neon Red. Damn Miracle of Sound, talk about a cyberpunk addiction.
Actually city of night is first tho it was made 6 years ago.
True, but these two songs were made from the Cyberpunk 2077 trailers whereas City of Night was made on the very first Cyberpunk 2077 trailer. So to me I would only count City of Dreams and Neon Red, not to say that City of Night is bad it’s just that said City of Dreams and Neon Red are improvements to me.
@@republiccommando6104 For me, City of Night is an all-time MoS favorite and nothing has beaten it so far
