@@miracleofsound your every songs are beatifully written and absolute masterpieces but the 'joker song' this song is beyond... i just don't know what to say! Have a great day.
The whole lyric of this song is really going deep. Gav always has good lyrics in his music (thanks to God not that cheap popsound), but this one... man!
I love it, this song is just like an old cowboy telling his story at a campfire to some young boys and telling them in a soft and quiet voice that "There are no more cowboys, only men with violent hearts." Just beautiful .
Tears in my eyes from watching this ride of emotions. Arthur Morgan truly showed us all what it means to fall down into the darkest depths of despair... and still try to want something better for others. To be both scared and at peace with the coming setting sun. How it'll all turn out as it was meant to be... Thanks for another awesome tune, Gavin. This one hit real deep.
God I love the flow between the two songs, this one perfectly embodies the dying days of the wild west, how with each passing day, it's getting more and more tamed, the fleeting struggle against civilization, the excitement of that age fading away, the leash of law and order choking out those last few embers it's melancholic, mourning the last days of a dying age and way of life. whereas redemption blues is still sad, but it's also hopeful in a way, those days belong to the history books and stories, men like John and Dutch forgotten or put to the noose, only fading ink and a few ghosts still lingering on, trying to move past those days like John, or desperately clinging to them despite all the suffering that causes, exactly like Dutch, only to realize that, no matter how hard you try, the past might have faded, but it never completely vanishes, and every man must accept responsibility for the mistakes of his past If redemption blues is the wild west's eulogy, then this is it's last words
I have found Gavin in game he....well I found all mangled up by a bear attack I searched the body and found a letter for Gavin's friend it said he was going for a walk and he will be back by dinner
"Our days are all almost over Times have changed around these parts There ain’t no more cowboys Only men with violent hearts" ~ Redemption Blues/Setting Sun. John Marston/Arthur Morgan We love you Gavin for keeping the consistency of the lyrics in these songs, makes them feel connected :)
It’s a really cool verse. Reflects how times really were changing in America. As it says at the beginning of the game, the Frontier was conquered. We had a Republic stretching from sea to shining sea, and the Wild West was becoming less wild by the day.
I love the way you sing "there ain't no more Cowboys." There's almost something wistful in the darkness there. It would've been easy to just sing that line with an angry final note but the way it lifts of just slightly is so much better.
I know this is three years old, but I'm just now listening to this and the RDR song. I love the parallels between them, like the lyrics "Our days are (almost) over, times have changed around these parts; there ain't no more cowboys, only men with violent hearts" I also like how the lyrics "our days are almost over" turn into "our days are over" in the first song, indicating the gang is fully gone.
One of my favorite parts of the sequel/franchise songs is whenever the callback to the older songs happen. I find some sort of simple satisfaction in seeing them woven together. Great song!
Amazing as always! Arthur Morgan is without a doubt my favorite video game character in a long time. At first I was worried that he was just gonna be a boring blank slate, but after reading his journal and progressing through the story I realized how good a character he is. You start out playing the game committing morally bad actions and Arthur is completely fine to go along with it. Yet there’s a turning point when, (with high honor) Arthur sees the damage he’s done and actively works to help those around him. Near the end (without spoiling anything) he’s actively handing out money because he knows they need it more than he does, and that it was his own greedy actions that brought his inevitable downfall. Arthur recognizes the cracks causing the gang to fall apart even as the opening credits appear and realizes that if anyone deserves a better life, it’s John and his family. SPOILERS FOR THE REST OF MY COMMENT, YOU HAD IT COMING IF YOU KEEP READING!! In the first epilogue chapter when you open the chest hidden underneath the bed, I a grown ass man started to cry. Arthur knew that his gear would help John in the long run and even keeping his hat shows that John is truly grateful to his brother in arms. There’s a scene you can encounter where John tells Jack that he doesn’t want to think about his past life anymore, yet he still keeps Arthur’s stuff including his journal as both a reminder to himself and as a way of saying thank you to his friend. The 100% cutscene even has John reminiscing in front of Arthur’s grave! You did a great job portraying Arthur’s views on the fall of the his gang, the biggest gripe I have with it is that you didn’t include the scene of Arthur and the Nun at the train station. That shit was emotional as fuck and also showed the viewer that even a tough and rugged manly man like Arthur is afraid of something. Not his actual death, he’d accepted that by then, but afraid that he wouldn’t be able to help his friends and family anymore, that his actions wouldn’t be enough.
Arthur has become one of my favorite character in a game. He's up there on top with max Payne, John marston and niko bellic. And they're are all from rockstar. Rip Arthur Morgan, you will be missed and remembered.
I love the rough and dramatic feeling behind this, and that an outlaw must know that at any moment their time is “gonna come around”. This is like Wasteland Soul versus Beauty Bleak, one captures the story, while the other captures the truth and in case, the disparity of the situation. P.S. That work in of Redemption Blues at the end was masterful. Man, I wish I was still into making music (...well, playing trumpet . I’ve never made music).
Nicely done. Feels properly melancholic for the game with a nice melody. Soft and weary without being depressing. A last ballad for a time of endings and beginnings, as the old fades away into myth and the new comes in like a raging storm. And a chorus that reflects the relics of the past who refuse to conform. Perfectly done song for the game.

This game was a masterpiece, I just started it a week ago and it almost instantly became my favorite. There aren’t many games that aside from two that hold a special place in my heart, but this one is definitely the one that I will never get old of. Thank you rockstar, for caring about quality over quantity.
I recently redownloaded Red Dead 2. Gonna try to do everything I never did before, like the dinosaur bones, the rock carvings, the fishing, the legendary animals, etc. I didn't do nearly as much as was there, I just did most Strangers, side quests, a few Favours, and the story. But I wanna get as much as possible this time around. Besides, it kinda hurt when you go back to a Stranger mission that continues even passed the switch into John, when he introduces himself as an old friend of Arthur's and that he knows they met him due to the journal. Considering that I can get teary eyed just listening to May I? Stand Unshaken, I've come to realise Arthur Morgan is apparently the one video game character I care for above all others. Fucking astounding game.

I've been hearing this song since it came out but played the game recently and the line "turn my eyes away and watch the setting sun" literally makes me wanna empty a tissue box from sadness
Amazing. The song was enjoyable without having played the game but when you have played it through the lines gain a whole new astonishing significance. Just like all of his work. Amazing
Loyalty’s a pistol, my heart is full of holes... When I rly listened to those lyrics, I realized how much I could relate to that, it was not a happy moment.
Really great change of "atmosphere" (I know this word has lost its meaning due to to its being overused). Your commitment to encapsulating the fell and sound of the game really shows. Your voice has more depth and fluctuates more I think in this song than in your last previous ones. I really enjoyed it and be sure, I will be listening to it again and again in the future.
Are the vocals good? No, not really. But what makes these videos really great is how interesting the songs he writes are, I think that it is incredibly clever how he manages to do it in such a short amount of time. Also as the songs link to some of my favourite video games that interests me too :)
@@Epicmonk117Technically speaking they're only decent. You don't see him being a big singer do you? He's not THAT good but what makes him good is not his voice, it's the amazing and creative lyrics and what he sings about.
@@StormyWeatherUKi gotta say i understand you, the strenght of his music is mostly because of the use of instruments and lyrics. He still has a good voice though but i dont think this is the kind of music that really fits his voice. i mean, it fits, but it would fit better with other genres.
Gavin, The whole song I tried to not cry but one sentence just ONE got me totally.... There aint no more cowboys, only man with violent hearts. Gavin you are just too good. Again I cried listening to Red Dead Redemption song.... Just beautiful.
I love how this perfectly encompasses exactly how I felt as I was playing through the game with Arthur, in his highs and lows, good deeds and dastardly betrayals.
This song perfectly captures the passing of an area. The idea that who you are and your entire way of being is threatened not just by the changing world but by those around you. the slow realization that the only way out is death or a life of longing for what can never be again
I don't know why, but everytime I listen to this, I imagine it's being sung by a heartbroken Arthur sometime between the game's end and the moment he saw the monster Dutch, the man who was his best friend and mentor, was becoming.
i imagine this song being sung by a mysterious man wearing a worn out hat, black bandana and beige jacket. He sings with easy to hear coughing, and he is located SUSPICIOUSLY CLOSE to a grave of outlaw in the mountains if you know what i mean...👻🤠🔫👢
Six years ago I accidentally ran into Sovngarde, and instantly fell in love with your music. Had some hard times through all this years, had myself on my knees. But you never failed to pick me up with your songs. Thank you, Gavin, and please, don't ever stop :)
Thank you so much for your music Gavin. Your tunes have helped me trough so many stressful warm-ups from world cups and world championships. They have been my rock when the mountain of the competition became to much
How dare you sing with such a deep, whispery, and sexy voice. This song touched me deeper in my soul than any other purely because of the way you sung it
Today is my birthday, and I wanted to thank you Gavin, for all these long years of wonderful and inspiring music. A new song from you is just the best birthday present I could have asked for. Cheers, Miracle-man, may your music bring you peace and happiness the same way it does for me!
I love with the reference to Redemption Blues, you can also see how Arthur affected and influenced of John in a way. Also with the slight change with the line here being "Our days are almost over". In Redemption Blues, it's "Our days are over" which is a nice touch. The songs as well sound a little like they were written similiar but with slight differences in the sense of it's characters. Maybe that last part is just how I hear it but still.
This perfectly captures the melancholy of the world of RDR2, as the modern, industrial age encroaches upon the free spirited realm of the Old West, free ranges being turned to cities of stone and metal. The death knell of our time.... so long, cowboy. Our days are over...
I don't think I could have said it better. RDR2 was beyond what most of us thought it might be, and I try to spend most of my time away from any towns in the game.
Man... I initially wasn't feeling the whole vocals mixed way higher than the instrumentals thing this song had going on, but as soon as the "loyalty's a pistol" bit started I felt it 100%
I love how he can incapsulate the essence of the game and tell it to you through song in a way where you can almost know how the game is without playing it.
After all the years I am listening to your music now I am still amazed how the atmosphere of every song fits its game so perfectly. I think this went straight to my top 5 of your songs. Greetings from Germany and keep up the good work.
Hi Gav, Just wanted to thank you. I lost my dear loved one this year, and I really can't get over this This particular song help me close my eyes Imagine a better futur where my "Heart full of holes" can rest while I'm turning my eyes away And watching the setting sun.
I thought since you had done the "remastered" version of your old RDR song, you wouldn't do one for RDR2...but i'm happy i was wrong! "Our days are almost over...times have changed atound these parts...there ain't no more cowboys, only men with violent hearts". Nice way to connect your songs Gav,amazing as always!! So yeah,i just finished the game ((epilogue included)) and this was one of the most special games for me. Everything in it,from the characters to the story,it was all amazing...even the end of it. This one will be in my list of the ones i shall never forget. Thank you once again for this amazing song Gav. Cheers from Brazil !
''Our days are all almost over Times have changed around these parts There ain’t no more cowboys Only men with violent hearts'' Every time I hear these words, I almost cry and let go my shame and anger. I feel like I am a part of them. I can be better than before and there is no shame looking for a better world.
This might be your finest work to date, Gav. It captures the vibe of RDR2 perfectly. I had been waiting for this song for 8 years and you didn't disappoint.
I've been repeatedly singing this to myself for at least six months now. Deliberately didn't listen to it until I'd 100%ed the story (but Gav, being a gentleman, didn't actually put any explicit spoilers in the lyrics or video), and it immediately jumped to the top of my list of favourite Miracle of Sound songs. Bit tricky for me as Gavin has a lower register than I, but I just love everything about the lyrics, the music, the tone and the emotions it evokes. I'm not sure I believe in an objectively perfect song, but if I did this would be a very strong contender.
You hit the nail on the head with this one Gavin. 1892-1910 was considered by many to be the end of the Wild West. The age of the cowboy was being swept aside by technological innovation and the taming of the badlands through law enforcement. This song doesn't just represent Arthur Morgan and the Dutch Van Derlande gang, but the tragedy of the end of the Wild West which did NOT end peacefully.
Just can't stop listening to this song. While you never disappoint, this is a masterpiece even among your songs. Your time ain't never over, Gav. Hope when the times change more people see how awesome you are.
I really feel like this is the evolving of "Redemption Blues". I can truly see them as different parts in the same play. It works and builds upon the original RDR feeling. Your song encapsulates that perfectly. It seems like the shadow side to the first song. The burnt side of the coin. There is so much emotion in such a quiet song. Its truly magnificent.
Our days are all almost over Times have changed around these parts There ain’t no more cowboys Only men with violent hearts. Jesus fucking christ holy fuck. The tempo, the cadence, delivery, the feel and character of this song. That illusion of simplicity of this track, best since Lady of Worlds.
I've listened to dozens of your songs, many of them hundreds of times each, but personally I think this is the best thing you've ever written, musically and lyrically. Not a criticism of any of your other work in the slightest, but this song hits me like the first time I heard it and read the lyrics every single time. And always makes me want to replay the game because it evokes everything about Arthur and his story so beautifully.
Now loyalty’s a pistol And my heart is full of holes I’m bleeding out my spirit Breathing out my soul These are some of the best lyric I've heard in a while. They fit Arthur so well. Great job Gav.
It's already dark outside here but our time's gonna come around tomorrow to turn our eyes away and watch the setting sun with redemption blues playing in the background...

@@StormyWeatherUK I like the vocals
@@Epicmonk117Technically speaking they're only decent. You don't see him being a big singer do you? He's not THAT good but what makes him good is not his voice, it's the amazing and creative lyrics and what he sings about.
@@StormyWeatherUKi gotta say i understand you, the strenght of his music is mostly because of the use of instruments and lyrics. He still has a good voice though but i dont think this is the kind of music that really fits his voice. i mean, it fits, but it would fit better with other genres.
he is not that big so that proves he is not good, bruh are a pathetic nobody that nobody knows so u arent good at ur job ?
@@StormyWeatherUK
I absolutely love redemption blues, but I'm so glad Arthur gets his own song, he's so incredible
Gavin, The whole song I tried to not cry but one sentence just ONE got me totally.... There aint no more cowboys, only man with violent hearts. Gavin you are just too good. Again I cried listening to Red Dead Redemption song.... Just beautiful.
Well I guess I’ll buy this now! Already bought the remade Red Dead song and I gotta say you’ve been killing it man!
Thanks for the support, Justin! \m/
I've spent days (real life not game time) looking for Gavin. Nothing will stop me from finding the legend.
Apparently 100 people, who disliked this masterpiece ENJOY BEING A RICH MAN'S TOY, DO YOU

Hi
Hi
Hello There
Greeterlings!
Absolutly outstanding Gavin!!! You're the music of RUclips! And that RDR blues ending... Chills
1:24 That standing position from Arthur with this music! Badass much..awesome scène.
This song hits me so hard after finishing the game. Thank you Gavin for this wonderful song.
Redemption Blues was incredibly evocative. I didn't think you could top it, but here we are. I could almost taste the dust in the air.
He sings with easy to hear coughing, and he is located SUSPICIOUSLY CLOSE to a grave of outlaw in the mountains
if you know what i mean...👻🤠🔫👢
Polski Noob - A man who goes by the name “Tacitus Kilgore.”
my god, this song is brilliant!
I'm glad that RUclips showed me this in recommendations
I’m playing RDR2 again so I had to play this and Redemption Blues again
I mean I already still listened to them regularly
Six years ago I accidentally ran into Sovngarde, and instantly fell in love with your music. Had some hard times through all this years, had myself on my knees. But you never failed to pick me up with your songs. Thank you, Gavin, and please, don't ever stop :)
Damn, I feel lucky, all of my favorite artists are releasing videos at the same time.
Oh, real? Who else we talking? Dan Bull? Karlienne? Pretty sure Erutan's basically out of the picture, so...
Amazing as always Gav, thank you
Dropped everything to watch this when I saw the notification. Love your voice on this one Gavin 😁
Thank you so much for your music Gavin. Your tunes have helped me trough so many stressful warm-ups from world cups and world championships. They have been my rock when the mountain of the competition became to much
I usually don't comment your songs, but I need to say this: This is beautiful, all your songs are all magnificent!
The call back to the first song. Beautiful.
How dare you sing with such a deep, whispery, and sexy voice. This song touched me deeper in my soul than any other purely because of the way you sung it
He's done it again, the madman! What a great song.
This song suits the game so great.
Today is my birthday, and I wanted to thank you Gavin, for all these long years of wonderful and inspiring music. A new song from you is just the best birthday present I could have asked for. Cheers, Miracle-man, may your music bring you peace and happiness the same way it does for me!
Who else restarted just to play as Arthur again
All of us did that my friend
6 times as of now.
but sadly he keeps on dying
I actually prefer john
Im on my 4th playthrough my guy
I found your joker tribute for arkham city a decade ago. So glad I found you again
Absolutely incredible... I haven't been able to play the game but this song makes me wish I was able to play it even more...
@Lucien Clubb I'm so glad I could help bring more love to him, I adore his music!
Finished the game last night, now Gav releases a kickass song. Life is good.
Maybe that last part is just how I hear it but still.
a beautiful piece for a wonderful game. Well done, mate, well done.
Wonderful Gav, an instant classic for me.
Oh boy, Gavin never disappoints! Yet again, another fantastic song!
Man... I initially wasn't feeling the whole vocals mixed way higher than the instrumentals thing this song had going on, but as soon as the "loyalty's a pistol" bit started I felt it 100%
This song was some real Redemption.
I love how he can incapsulate the essence of the game and tell it to you through song in a way where you can almost know how the game is without playing it.
"There's a price to pay for all that we've done" -- thinks about all the people I've tied to railroad tracks
i'm crying thank you VERY MUCH
“You know somethin', Utivich? I think this just might be my masterpiece.”
After all the years I am listening to your music now I am still amazed how the atmosphere of every song fits its game so perfectly. I think this went straight to my top 5 of your songs. Greetings from Germany and keep up the good work.
Hi Gav,
Just wanted to thank you.
I lost my dear loved one this year, and I really can't get over this
This particular song help me close my eyes
Imagine a better futur where my "Heart full of holes" can rest
while I'm turning my eyes away
And watching the setting sun.
I'm sorry for your loss
I'm sorry for your loss. Wishing you healing, strength & comfort
Wow, blown away by this one, so good.
Listening to this since years now. Sound and lyrics are going really really deep. Perfect music! Man, you have an outstanding talent in making music.
''Our days are all almost over
Times have changed around these parts
There ain’t no more cowboys
Only men with violent hearts''
Every time I hear these words, I almost cry and let go my shame and anger. I feel like I am a part of them.
I can be better than before and there is no shame looking for a better world.
This might be your finest work to date, Gav. It captures the vibe of RDR2 perfectly. I had been waiting for this song for 8 years and you didn't disappoint.
Knew when I heard the guitar bit on Twitter that this would be good... did not disappoint.
Yer alright, boah...

Learned about your music through your connection to Jim Sterling.
And, wow. You're amazing.
Just can't stop listening to this song. While you never disappoint, this is a masterpiece even among your songs.
Your time ain't never over, Gav. Hope when the times change more people see how awesome you are.
"There ain't no more cowboys, only men with violent hearts"
Chills
I really feel like this is the evolving of "Redemption Blues". I can truly see them as different parts in the same play. It works and builds upon the original RDR feeling. Your song encapsulates that perfectly. It seems like the shadow side to the first song. The burnt side of the coin. There is so much emotion in such a quiet song. Its truly magnificent.
Beautiful song.
Miracle of Sound and Red Dead? Now I can die in happiness, thank you.
Our days are all almost over
Times have changed around these parts
There ain’t no more cowboys
Only men with violent hearts.
Now loyalty’s a pistol
And my heart is full of holes
I’m bleeding out my spirit
Breathing out my soul
These are some of the best lyric I've heard in a while. They fit Arthur so well. Great job Gav.
Damn, these words from previous song "redemption blues" on 3:45 just hit my heart, this is incredible, thank you very much!
There are no more bandits in the valley.
It's already dark outside here but our time's gonna come around tomorrow to turn our eyes away and watch the setting sun with redemption blues playing in the background...
