Is 4-5 years too soon to get nostalgic about a game enough to nearly tear up? This is a perfect re-release...and this was also one of the first songs of yours, if not THE first, I listened to. Considering likely more than 70-80% of your songs have been bought by me since then, usually VERY soon after it is released on iTunes...this is extremely nostalgic to hear.

I think it's an inherent quality of that game, and one of the reasons why people loved it so much - it evokes melancholy and nostalgia, it creates a feeling of longing for something far away and long ago, something primal and mythical. A feeling this song, and this particular rendition capture very well. :)

discovered this song in 2011 and sang it so much that my family members know and recognize it-- Singing along with Gav's music has molded my singing voice to sound a bit like his such that his songs are easier for me to sing compared to songs from other artists lol Think about it, I've been singing along to his music since I was 16 and I'm 27 now. That's nuts.
Love them, no doubt. The Dark Soul songs are chill-bump inspiring. The Mass Effect series gets me stoked to play every time. The Assassin's Creed songs are killer. The Fallout song "Some things never change" is one of my favorites. Then there's "Redemption Blues", "A Dog's Life", "The Lucky Ones", "Breaking Down the Borders", "Stay By My Side". Shit, the list is endless. I can't pick the "Best". They all are.
You've achieved something that many people have failed at, a remake of something that is better than the original. You truly are a talented man, keep up the good work!
This video pretty much sums up one of the main reasons (or maybe the main reason) why I love Skyrim so much....the scenery in Skyrim is wonderful 😄and great remake sir, keep it up. 😄👍
God that guitar at the end not only sends shivers down my spine but it gets me teary eyed. It's just such a beautiful ending to an already amazing song.
This has always been my favorite song of yours, and while a few have challenged its throne I think this just put them all back in their place. This is absolutely beautiful.
Gav, as I am doing A Level Music Tech, I am using this for practice in identifying changes to a song. So, the things i think you have changed: The opening vocal line seems lower, but it seems very close to the original, so it could just be a headphone thing. The strings sound brighter, and more prevalent in the mix, especially at 1:58 and at 2:16. The vocal line in general seems much more full, with more harmonies. In addition the shout 3:56 seems much more pronounced and less growled than the original. There are defiantly more fills on the harp sounding instrument. Legend of the Frost at the end, which I loved. "My" seems much m,ore pronounced at 1:21. There seems to be much more overdrive/distortion on the guitar part at 2:31 Overall the song seems to be much brighter. Sorry if this is a bit odd. Absolutely loved the song though, you nailed it. Also, the call back to Legends of the Frost was stellar, recognized the tune after the first 2 notes. Thank you for making yet another awesome song. Please never stop.
Also, if you don't mind me asking, what DAW do you use, looking to get into music recording after A level, maybe as a hobby or even as a job, i'm not sure yet?
This, Gavin, Is why you are an amazing musician, you can re-make you old songs and still add a flare that it didn't already have to it, you can produce raw peices of emotio like the man who rocked the world, you create badass metal songs such as shadow of the ash or hell to pay, silly songs like you died and commander shepeard, and yet you still never run out of origional content. All of your music is great, you produce so many different genres and your music will never get old. Thank You Gavin Dunne, For Being A True DragonBorn!
Been a long-time Skyrim fan since 2015 and I love the effort that was put into this. Even though it's not "The Song Of The Dragonborn", I actually really freaking love this song you created.
Oh man, I loved the original but this is so much more refined. The vocals feel so much more powerful and energetic. The drums are fantastic with those double kicks. Everything is just so crisp and clear, it's like everything I loved about the original is there but more distinguishable and defined. Fantastic work as always.
YOU LISTENED! I remember telling you in this other vid that you should remaster or do an updated one and you listened! Awesome! You sir, are amazeballs.
I admire your music very much, Gavin. I started using your songs through my one role playing character, Brynjolf Keeger (a werewolf of the fifth rank, Get of Fenris tribe). in our Werewolf the Apocalypse game, I made a band in game and a lot of songs made sense to use them. Plus every song that is made connects to Bryn on an emotional level, furthering his growth as a character. Thank you for making these excellent songs and thank you for helping my character grow!
You won't hear this song in your ears. It's the soul that hears this. I wasn't as invested in Skyrim as other people are but this made me cry because my adventure was mine and mine alone
I said it'd be worth the wait. I was right. My only regret is that this shitty laptop can't play the song as loud as I'd like. Can't wait for the album to come out so I can blast it through my phone! This version is beautiful, though. It manages to relax you and suck you in, then get your blood and adrenaline pumping, and then relax you again. It's amazing. The original song still holds up in my opinion, and it's hard to improve upon perfection...But I'd say you managed to do just that. For a song that took over 200 hours, it definitely shows. Awesome job!
This song is just... wow. This was the first song I ever heard by you and I fell in LOVE. Listening to it makes me want to run into battle and slay beasts. It makes me want to play the most cliched heavy-armor-wearing-two-handed-weapons-wielding Nord I can. This song captures everything I love about Skyrim and I couldn't stop grinning for even a second. The parts where you would reference the game or the theme song were beautiful. Honestly, man, I don't even have the words to describe this masterpiece.
Gavin.... YOU DONE GOOOOD, YOU DONE VERY GOOOD. I have literaly cried when heard the begining, headbanged hard during the middle part of the song and felt acomplished at the end... My life is complete, you have made me a very happy person today. Thank you for this song.
Well this just made my whole damn week :) One of my favourite songs, based on one of my favourite games, somehow remade to be even more awesome. I love you Gav!

Gav, it has been an honour seeing you grow my friend! The first I heard about you was your collab with Malukah "Legend of the Frost" and directly after that this song, the original mix that is. I subbed and made a playlist of all your stuff I could find (right now at an in my eyes impressive 350,000 views). Your music has dragged me trough some rough patches and I am just itching for the moment I have the money to pay you back on bandcamp, but until that day you will allways be my one of my exceptions on adblock. Keep up the good work, don't let your spirit fade away and I love you Gav. I truely do man.
I've been following your work for about 4 years now, Gavin. I just want to say thank you. Thank you for everything you do, everything that brings us joy, everything that makes you the best. Thank you!

Amazing work! I didn't know how you could make the original song better, but you totally did. Please remaster your Nord Mead song next! If this is any indication, it would end up truly epic.
This was literally the first MOS song I ever listened to. Hearing this remastered version now two years later makes me feel a lot of things. It's so nice to be able to listen to how much you've improved, Gav!
When I heard this, I felt my heart stir. Hearing it again made it swell, cursing me with an insatiable hunger for adventure, and to better my mastery of the sword arts, which has been my truest passion. Never stop making such beautiful music, Gav. You have the rarest of gifts.
ESO is one of the better ones between MMOs but it's already been 5 years (will be in 5 days) since Skyrim came out and we have no clue about sixth Elder Scrolls... I am extremely disappointed by that thing called The Elder Scrolls: Legends. There is already enough card games and from what i know it wouldn't differ from Hearthstone much. So why is Bethesda offering us to play copy of HS instead of working on a sequel for the single-player epic series. I am afraid that I will have sixth episode bought by my children or grandchildren...
Eduardo Kopik From what I've heard Bethesda are working on an original IP as a singleplayer sci-fi (not Fallout) RPG in the same vein as TES and FO. So I imagine we won't hear much more about that for (I'd guess) 2-3 years. But after that's out it would probably still be the standard wait time between Bethesda games. So my guess for TES 6 is 2023/2024 announcement/release.
One of my favourite songs of all time. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for this masterpiece. So much energy, motivation and love for the source material in it. I listen to the old version almost every morning to get myself ready for the day ahead. You are a great musician and I want to thank you for your great art. Please, never stop making music!
This is so amazing. I feel like this is better than the original. Like, it almost feels like there are more people singing (yes I know it's just your voice on multiple clips strung together) but I feel like there are more and more Warriors and fans of this game behind it, ready for another round, more experienced, bringing the new youngsters and warriors in to fight the battle once more. Skyrim is their home, and be sure to fight more and more dragons 🐉 to protect their home. Our home. Wonderful job Gav!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think it works a bit better with the rhythm this time around. I think it was more of an impactful note. Maybe that's just me though. Great song, both this one and the original! ^^
I was going to comment this on the Soundcloud demo, but decided not to, because I just wanted the song to be released! Hopefully he will fix this in his Level 7 remaster, but regardless of this, it's still a great song.
Its BEAUTIFUL Gav, heart-touching, whenever I see SKYRIM, my heart yearns for this song, thanks, Gavin for bringing back the nostalgic trip. (PS Would you make one for Legends of the Frost with Malukah, please...........)

Gavin, man you did the impossible. I am in love with Sovngarde song since it came out. Your voice in this song is just outstanding (and in many others too). Timothy McLean dude i could instantly see differences in skyrim special edition, the jarl of whiterun wasnt halfway into the wall in the original.
The difference between Skyrim and SE on PC? One is free
Six Wild-Card It just bugs me that right after such a great moment, he steps on an obvious lightning rune.
Official Schmittentitz yeah if you have the orginal skyrim and all the DLCs it's for free
I always felt like your original was lacking one slightly deeper voice in the mix. You totally nailed it this time. This one's always been my favorite. Thanks so much for sharing a remastered version. Amazing work.
Dude, I fucking cried and couldn't stop smiling once the music kicked in. This was one of your very first songs that I saw on your channel. In that time, you've grown so damn much.
Thanks Irish Jesus. Much love from NYC.
Go away Claptrap.
Do you have my Toasters?
You should ask to Rogal Dorn...
Random Techpriest Try the next sect over, brother. Second door on your left.
Thank you, borther. Praise be unto the Omnissiah!
This song means a lot for me even after 4 years. I was at the middle school when I started to play Skyrim, now I’m about to go to uni.
Hey same! Im third year uni and i always come back to this song
With the 10 year anniversary I'm brought back to this legendary classic
This game is literally my happy place. Whenever I feel down I play this game and it takes away all the problems. For hours on end I find myself doing stupid things and getting a lot of laughs out of it. For me it’s the best game ever made. Thank you Skyrim
Remastered song for a remastered game, I approve, though your remaster was better done than theirs of course. :)
Yes, especially the graphics of this one are better.
The two different video game icons.... Man... Just hitting ALL the feels.
"The old icon was WAY better."
^What I was going to say before I realized you weren't talking about the desktop shortcut because nobody gives a **** about those(...I don't even know why I did).
ProbeVoyages
Well I'm talking about The Nameless One, along with the Witcher Wolf Pendant icon. Two fantastic video games/series.
Well, I guess you are goddamn right with that one! :D
...Holy crap. I was not ready for that drop! Also, that outro guitar riff though. Beautiful.
discovered this song in 2011 and sang it so much that my family members know and recognize it-- Singing along with Gav's music has molded my singing voice to sound a bit like his such that his songs are easier for me to sing compared to songs from other artists lol
Think about it, I've been singing along to his music since I was 16 and I'm 27 now. That's nuts.
the skyrim and Witcher songs are the best
Also, Metal Up is such a great album.
WakkasLove don't forget Bioshock
Hey, don't forget Game of Thrones!
And GoT songs too.
Wait, wait wait. This is just a remake of the original song? I approve.
You've achieved something that many people have failed at, a remake of something that is better than the original. You truly are a talented man, keep up the good work!
Heath Dan Follow him on Twitter. He's been working on this for like a month.
Pixels Mossman it honestly astounds me that I haven't yet followed him on Twitter
Just like the actual game.
Heath Dan except he kinda did fail at it.
This video pretty much sums up one of the main reasons (or maybe the main reason) why I love Skyrim so much....the scenery in Skyrim is wonderful 😄and great remake sir, keep it up. 😄👍
re-releasing this song was definitely a good idea
it's not a re-release, it's a new mix
it not a re-record, it's clearly a re-release.
AND THUS THE CIRCLE IS COMPLETE
"Skyrim may belong to the Nords, but everything in it belongs to the Khajiit." MROW ))
And yet, Khajiit won't own the souls of the Nords.
They go straight to Sovngarde.
@@admiralspire8867 not with that attitude. Ever hear of 'soul trap'?
@@embodying8moth82 you wouldn't you bastard
That's fucking hilarious.
Let's face it; Gav is the true Dragonborn. The power of his voice long surpasses that of our Thu'um.
God that guitar at the end not only sends shivers down my spine but it gets me teary eyed. It's just such a beautiful ending to an already amazing song.
Yes! More Skyrim, More Miracle of Sound, More Sovngarde! What else could we ever need?
ES6?
NAAAAH, That can wait.
MORE XP!
Five years and it's still an epic remaster. That guitar outro is flawless at introducing Legends of the Frost.
Wow, this work of art is absolutely phenomenal. I am a huge Skyrim fan, and I will be playing this in the background
That homage to legend of the frost at the end was a very nice touch!
I've already bought this on Bandcamp and listened to it repeatedly
Lauren Carroll youve only had time to hear this twice you liar
no its been on bandcamp for like 6 hours now
Tyro awwww thanks for the assist :)
This has always been my favorite song of yours, and while a few have challenged its throne I think this just put them all back in their place. This is absolutely beautiful.
You know what goes great with this song, some NORD MEAD!!!
Oh yeah, a little barrel of Nord Mead would be nice right now ;)
I recommend the Black Briar Premium
Valor Vanguard that makes my belly bleed
a mug of nord mead always puts me in the mood to hear some legends of the frost
Daniel Torres You shouldn't have bought that nasty imitation drought from a Kajiit bootlegger, then :3
This is my favorite song to play on guitar, and one of the few I can sing along to while playing. Awesome piece, I absolutely love it.
There seems to be much more overdrive/distortion on the guitar part at 2:31
Overall the song seems to be much brighter.
Sorry if this is a bit odd.
Absolutely loved the song though, you nailed it. Also, the call back to Legends of the Frost was stellar, recognized the tune after the first 2 notes.
Thank you for making yet another awesome song. Please never stop.
Yes all those things, I basically re-recorded the entire song on better equipment and gear
OK, thanks. really loved the original, this one just took it up to new heights. Level 7 is going to be epic
Layering this with the original is such an astounding experience. I highly recommend doing it.
YOU LISTENED! I remember telling you in this other vid that you should remaster or do an updated one and you listened! Awesome! You sir, are amazeballs.
About that time again. Time to start a new playthrough.
i love how he included Skyrim gameplays. really adds to the feel, haha. Nice job!!! i love it
I came
i saw
I didn't bother cleaning it up
lOGAN sTEWART You win the internet.
and a cookie
I have this sinking feeling that I'll miss this being original.
Robert Martindale enjoy it while it lasts.
lOGAN sTEWART yeah. Just keep it stinkin for a while.
Why you may ask? because FUS-RO-SOVNGARDE-SONG-REMASTERED!
6 years ago and still true!
This is making me go back and play this is truly a masterpiece
Listened the 2011 version some minutes ago, now that one... Didn't know it was possible to become more powerful than Thalos. Mr Dunne, you are epic !
I think I broke the replay button. Such an amazing song. First one I've heard from this amazing guy with such talent.
Thank you Gavin for this song! It is my favourite of your work :)
I remember when I first listened to your work about 6 years ago when you started with original version of this song and it's awesome to see that you still got
Thanks for sticking around! :)
All these years later, and it's still one of the best works this channel has ever created. A true testament of skill.
such a wonderful improvement... I loved the orginal but... Wow... Just speechless...
Thank you for this ^-^
the remakes are always a great way to see how far Gav's come. New Black Gold was great for this a couple years back, and now we have a new milestone.
Android 19 yup, just gets better and better... ^-^
I've been following your work for about 4 years now, Gavin. I just want to say thank you. Thank you for everything you do, everything that brings us joy, everything that makes you the best. Thank you!
I still get goosebumps from this song
Im legit crying rn. That was the most beautiful thing i have ever heard
The original is actually the song that made me subscribe to your channel, so it's very nice to hear this remake. :)
The comparison between this and the original really makes obvious how you progressed. Good job!
miracleofsound you should make a skyrim main screen background music replacer so this will play when you start up skyrim.
Dude....I've almost got no words for this. I've been listening to your music for years now, this song has been one of my 'get psyched up' songs for a long time, and this just blew me away. I love your work and I eagerly await your next songs. Keep up the amazing work my friend.
usually i read subtitles you make, but here i knew the words already, magic
I think this is the pinnacle of how far your music has come Gav. Sovngarde Song was a 10/10. This is an 11/10. Absolutely outstanding!
I love the songs you make. They are perfectly attuned to the tone of the games in my opinion
When I heard this, I felt my heart stir. Hearing it again made it swell, cursing me with an insatiable hunger for adventure, and to better my mastery of the sword arts, which has been my truest passion.
Never stop making such beautiful music, Gav. You have the rarest of gifts.
"It's about time for TES 6 isn't it?"
"ESO came out recently, still gonna be a while for the next one"
"we don't talk about ESO"
ESO's is pretty decent right now.
ElSpartin I actually quite enjoyed meeting people on there and running around collecting ores and plants
So my guess for TES 6 is 2023/2024 announcement/release.
todd howard said it will be a long time till number 6 is released at e3 i think
One of my favourite songs of all time. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for this masterpiece. So much energy, motivation and love for the source material in it. I listen to the old version almost every morning to get myself ready for the day ahead. You are a great musician and I want to thank you for your great art. Please, never stop making music!
Please do a remastered legends of the frost similar to that ending riff because it will literally kill me with goosebumps.
this sounds amazing! just when i didn't think it could get any better, u did it! Thanks Gav!
As a big fan of the original song, I am loving it. As a big fan of Miracle of Sound, I am loving it. As a human being, I am loving it.
This song makes me want to stand up up in a nordic tavern, raise a toast with my brothers, and start line dancing with my brothers.
I don't think there has ever been a period where the song you guys make hasn't been amazing. Truly an achievement to always have amazing songs.
What happed at around 3:08 ? It seems like the word "her" was really abruptly cut off or something. Otherwise, really great song!
Just sang it shorter this time around
I think it works a bit better with the rhythm this time around. I think it was more of an impactful note. Maybe that's just me though. Great song, both this one and the original! ^^
I was going to comment this on the Soundcloud demo, but decided not to, because I just wanted the song to be released! Hopefully he will fix this in his Level 7 remaster, but regardless of this, it's still a great song.
Because I wanted to. You're just used to the other one, I prefer it this way so it's staying
I prefer it this way too, Gav, so you're not alone. Not that it matters what we think. Just saying ^^
I love it! I'm not a musician, so I don't know what it is, but something just makes me FEEL the plains of Whiterun and the peak of Snow Throat.
A great version of an already fine song for an inspiring game. A cultural phenomenon. Sub-creation at its best :) Happy New year!
Holy shit. I didn't think there was a way that the original song could get better, but you did it anyhow. You've outdone yourself again, Gav.
It's mind-boggling how you nail every single song you write :)
I love this remake, Gav! It's awesome, and feeds my current Skyrim addiction (the remaster has got me back into it in a big way).
Its BEAUTIFUL Gav, heart-touching, whenever I see SKYRIM, my heart yearns for this song, thanks, Gavin for bringing back the nostalgic trip. (PS Would you make one for Legends of the Frost with Malukah, please...........)
Was waiting for this to be released since you first teased it on Twitter and were worried about the quality thinking that viewers would dislike it but this is fucking awesome man great work.
Gavin, man you did the impossible. I am in love with Sovngarde song since it came out. Your voice in this song is just outstanding (and in many others too). Almost everytime when I am sad I listen to your music and it always cheer me up. Your songs can do unexplainable things. Please Gave keep your good work, you are my favorite Artist.(yeah your songs are pure Art for me). You helped me through very hard times and you dont even know it man. So keep up and have a nice day :) (by the way it will be good if you would create song on The Elder Scrolls Oblivion/Morrovind :) )
That growl when you shout Yol tor shul is just epic! sent goose bumps down my spine!
Love this song so much, one of my favorites of yours.
The original always reminded me of my adventures in Skyrim. This version is an equally amazing piece, and brings back those same memories! That riff at the end was magical, by the way.
