    The first thing I did when I bought the bike was a skid plate and hand guards. I don’t see that you have those, at least yet. Honda did a nice job of keeping this bike a bit utilitarian because the bike has a solid record without the gremlins that higher tech stuff cause. It also keeps the price low. I don’t intend to make any further mods to my bike, but what you have done certainly looks good.

    Merica! Cool mods! The lights are a really good upgrade. I would like todo a tack and fuel gauge... I am a total noob, but it would be nice to have a fuel gauge. Prolly way more effort than I am willing to put in.

    • @LarryMusgrave

      The digital dash did allow us to get a head temp and a tach on it as well as digital odometer, trip A and trip B, outside air temp. It really brought the little XR150L up to 2010 technology 🙂
      The KTM LED headlight is massively better than the OEM headlight. The turn signals are not so well liked. The problem is that in bright sunlight, you can not even see them. I am looking for a higher quality option to replace those. I do not recommend those.

    Amazing build man. Are you considering doing a big bore kit. I'm considering getting one of these but concerned about the top speed. I live in the country and people typically drive up to 65-70mph on the back roads and secondary highways.

    • @LarryMusgrave
      @LarryMusgrave  Год назад +5

      A big bore kit may be considered next winter. He's got the warranty for now, may as well hold onto that until it at least gets a thousand miles on it to look for manufacturing defects.

    Upgrade your Carb ! I changed mine to a Japanese Made PZ30 carb and i get an extra 25 miles out of my fuel tank. Stay away from the Chinese made carbs as they are problematic. also I suppose this is a opinionated but changing the sprockets also made the bike more fun to drive, I changed my front sprocket to a 15. I see some people only change it to a 16 or change the back to a 51. I think either of the motioned sprocket will make the bike feel a lot better. its hard to explain but weirdly you don't lose as much top end as you gain acceleration. even with my XR150l with the 15/49 Sprocket combination I have a top speed of 60mph on my GPS

    Hey Mr. Larry, I see you've done a heap of stuff & I'm here b/c I like this little bike....and it's inexpensive. That said, have you done
    anything or thought about the suspension on these bikes? You know these are proven bikes & have been on the road for years in
    S.American/Asian countries & so I saw a channel who listed a couple of bikes that you could switch the front forks directly from
    one to the other. There's at least one moto-cross Honda that uses the same frame & I wondered if you knew of it or have changed
    anything about the suspension on this bike? I heard it can't be adjusted but IDKnow anything yet, I do TY for the video. peace

      Gotcha, if I buy one I'm not gonna do anything major like a Big Bore Kit.... I'll ride it until such time as I need to do
      something which is a good practice. Use her since you paid for it & down the line IF it breaks, then perhaps ya do
      a bore kit but I agree - take care of it, ride it, and enjoy it all. I appreciate you/your son sharing the story on this.
      Hope to see you on the trail with your son..... peace & TY again

    I really love your videos, I also have a question about your Kawasaki concourse 1400, did you ever get a touring windscreen? I would love to see a review about your choice of Windscreen

    • @LarryMusgrave
      @LarryMusgrave  Год назад

      Honestly, no. I have not yet. In warm weather, I find the factory wind screen to be fine since I run it at the lowest position. If I encounter rain, I put it all of the way up to block the majority of the rain.
      In the cold, I wish the wind screen were both higher and wider. I may at some point this fall look into a larger screen, but that will depend on my finances since I'm pulling myself thin 😂

    Were those turn signals easy to install? Did you cut the factory wiring to use those? Im really thinking about doing that as well i cant stand the factory turn signals.

    • @LarryMusgrave
      @LarryMusgrave  9 месяцев назад +1

      No cutting at all. The bullet connectors worked fine. The issue we have is that they aren't bright enough on sunny days and you don't see them flashing.

      I plan to swap out the 22mm carb for a 27mm that will increase the power/top speed a bit.
      Then I'll look into the header and muffler, I think the CRF250 stuff will fit and flow better.
      Then I will look at the air box and see if I can open it up and upgrade the filter to get more overall air flow to the engine.
      I know it's a 150, but may as well eek out all you can from the lump.

    • @Rocketman0407
      @Rocketman0407 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@LarryMusgraveI don't recommend the PZ27 at all. Its a bigger CV carburator than stock. The only thing you will achieve is worse throttle response, slower climbs in rpm, just overall worse performance except for when the engine is allmost redlined.
      Rather get PWK, Mikuni vm or tm. Those carbs will actually make a nice difference especially with a pod filter and/or airbox mod and freer flowing exhaust.. No point in going too big either. For sizes 24 or 26mm is perfect.

    • @LarryMusgrave
      @LarryMusgrave  Год назад

      Hell yes. Until I come up with a better way, this works. I have the stock wire bracket from the OEM turn signals that I may look at modifying to be the back wall for the KTM headlight. But until I get ambitious.... the pool middle works like a champ.
