3:01 only question I have is about the downscale filter, the differences mainly and if you should use the default or the one you're using, my default is bicubic
Can you tell me if these settings are optimal for my system? I have a Dell XPS 15 7590 9th gen intel i7, integrated Intel UHD 630, dedicated Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR5, 256GB SSD. I’m recording with an Elgato HD60S+ and playing on either a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X. Would 1920x1080 at 60hz work well?
Yeah you’ll do just fine, those are better specs then what I was running while making this video, which is in 1920x1080 at 60fps. I suggest following the guide in the recording section of this video so that you can utilize the UHD 630 GPU and QuickSync.
Yes. Use QuickSync for encoding and let OBS use the Nvidia GPU (if using preview) so that the processes can be spread out between GPUs and prevent slow performance.
I have seen many videos and have changed many settings, but I still get lag. I was hoping this video would be it but unfortunately my videos lag due to overload. Not sure how to lower CPU usage but no youtuber seems to have what I need. I will have to sell my laptop and buy a desktop.
Hello, I use a Asus Rog Strix G531GV_G531GB and for the encoder options I have Nvidia Nvenc h.264 I also have the Quicksync H.264 option for that what would you recommend I put my settings at ?
Thank you so much for the video. The problem I have is that I was able to use both game capture and display capture. All of a sudden, it only decided to record game capture and when I choose power saver it only captures display and not the game. Is there a solution for that? :'/

The only type of video that doesn't have motion blur is recorded gaming content, which, isn't supposed supposed to have motion blur at all (defeats purpose). May I ask why you need to add motion blur in a video?
Motion blur isn’t created based on the FPS of the video. It’s created when a frame is captured and the subject(s) is/are moving (it’s only really prevalent in video camera recordings, not screen recordings because the screen recorder will capture each/selected frames that renders to the display.
x264 is best for recording GPU-intensive games. Also, if you're looking for performance over quality, you should set keyframe interval to 3. I have a video with x264 settings.
H.264 via a hardware encoder should always be used when encoding in real time over x264 (key frames don’t have much of an impact at all). Speed and reliability is far more important in real-time encoding than compression quality. You can always re-encode the output to compress it. Another program or windows update could easily start in the background which could tank the performance of the recording or the live stream if using x264, which would not occur is using a hardware encoder.
@@DaGoose I agree with this except for the keyframes part. Not everyone has even a quad core rig and so to squeeze out all the performance, they should set keyframe interval to 3 or 4.
@@motheuser Key frames don’t improve encoding performance. I don’t know who told you that but that’s just simply wrong. Key frames only help with the quality of the video as they are full frames and not predicted frames like B-Frames.
