I missed Turkish food I was there in the 70’s with my family when we left Afghanistan during the Russian invasion and unfortunately my father died while we were in Turkey and till this day he’s buried in Istanbul Turkey and we live in the US. So as an Afghan American and having traveled in so many different countries I can assure you that Turkey has the best food in the world.
Spent 6 years in Turkey back in the 80's, and I MISS everything about Turkey... The food is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Thank You for the trip down memory lane 🤗🤗
Afyon is one of the three Turkish cities in UNESCO's Creative Cities Network for its cuisine and culinary traditions. They have really great meat products, and they make the best kaymak in Turkiye. The province has really clean and high quality dishes. I am very happy that you tried ekmek kadayifi. It is my most favorite dessert, and Afyon is the right to place to eat it. When it comes to desserts in Turkiye, foreigners/tourists usually talk about baklava, Turkish delight, sutlac, etc. and they rarely try ekmek kadayifi. I believe that honey+kaymak combo is made in heaven. To me the only thing that can rival that combination is ekmek kadayifi with kaymak. The only problem with ekmek kadayifi is that it is a bit addictive. Once you eat a couple of times, it is inevitable that you will get cravings few times a year. All the best.
What a breakfast. I would be full till supper for sure. amazing ruins what a treat to see that. Lovely town Afyonkarahisar is. Turkish food amazing. Kabobs always a delight.
Bro I was in Afyon two weeks ago . I tried there sujuk kebab and then came across a sweet shop. It was on another level. They had the best pumpkin dessert I ever had. Just melted in my mouth. Also had turkish coffee in that Han too. Keep on pumping the videos bro.
@@fatmasenyasa8541 Hi fatma how are you today? Hope all is well with you? Pls can chat privately on WhatsApp or anywhere else because I'd like to know you better so we could be friends or more if you don't mind 😊
Breakfast in Turkey is so hearty it made my mouth water while watching it! I love that beef with egg stew, and those cheeses, but wonder if anyone in Turks can finish them? That tomb on the rock is magnificent, and the designer who built it must be a genius! There is a reason why the 180-year-old Turkish kebab has been around for so long, it looks delicious! But your dessert-eating expression makes me want to eat their desserts even more! If someone can sit at the 180-year-old table, he/ she must be lucky! Thank you for your sharing! 👍😃👏
we do not eat all this stuff in our homes just some of them but at the weekend it is possible in house or out any restourant with your friends or family.
Wow, that looked yummy. 5 Generations. Luke, I looked at those beautiful wooden tables even before you told the story. Turkey is on my bucket list. ✔️💕
I miss Afyon. Amazing vibes..the chap with the lamb dish is so friendly. there was a queue outside when we went. was there in winter with the heavy snow. Magical.. hope you tried their special kaymak turkish delight
Hello Luke glad to see u arrived in Turkey safe and sound. Yes i love Turkish food especially their dessert and kebab. Thank u Luke for sharing with us your wonderful yummy dining experience there 👍👍👍👍
Luke, if you ever come back, always eat sucuk with bread. Also try "sucuklu tost", sucuk - kaşar cheese and bread, toast the bread until the kaşar inside melts then add sucuk slices inside and try it. That's my favorite breakfast food ever. Sometimes I go extreme add some "Macar salamı" too with some cheddar too.
Thanks for bringing me back to my country of birth haven't been back since 2016! Breakfast notes: Dried apricots, figs, probably irmik helva ( semolina ), sucuk is essentially best when dried naturally then cooked and yes cumin fenugreek is in it very unique flavours for sure. The Cheese with the green bits is otlu peyir, you had some kasar which is like Gruyere cheese too. Afyon has been know for the growing of poppies (non-narcotic) which is eaten by livestock like cows to produce a beautiful kaymak clotted cream and yogurts too!
Thanks for sharing your trips and videos ...I just wanted to let you know that at your breakfast table, the dark preserve at your table was walnut preserve and it tastes so good ...I wish you tasted it ..
Hi Luke, thank you for your informative videos about Turkey, it's really great to see the country I live in through your eyes :) By the way, the 'ı' in 'kahvaltı' and 'mantı' is pronounced like 'uh', so 'kah-val-tuh' and 'man-tuh'. And Ş is pronounced like 'sh' and Ç like 'ch', so Paçacı Şemsi is 'Pah-cha-juh Shem-see'. Thanks again, I look forward to your future videos.
Hey Luke, great vid bud. What’s the name of that restaurant where you had breakfast? Also, have you thought about exploring Iran? Iraq? Bosnia, Albania, etc. There’s PLENTY of good food options.

Hello Luke I am from Turkey.I recommended you “Kerebiç”, it is a very nice dessert, almost everyone likes it very much.
Now, if I could just have that kebab magically appear as a delivery in Scotland.
2:27 those are raw walnuts (whole), they do something to them to break them down and turn them into that so they can be steeped in sugar syrup.
Just curious, is ever possible to take leftovers? I know it can be burden carrying food sometimes while traveling but is it something ever done there?
Turkish tea with goat milk is one of the best.
