I love your work . You captured the wave beautifully . I've done oils , watercolor , and acrylics . I've never tried colored pencils but I'm going to see what I can do with them . Thank you for explaining everything so clearly .
Thank you for this! I was torn on regular colored pencils vs watercolor ones for a drawing I'm going to do of my son surfing for the first time and your tutorial showed me I can use regular pencils. This will give me more color choices and I'll remember both the use of negative white space and the burnishing technique
You are selling yourself short. I live very close to the ocean, and we have many rivers nearby. I have a large painting of the ocean on my wall, and you nailed the primary elements, and may have equaled the artist in you quick sketch tutorial. I am assuming you would refine it if it were to be a display piece, but you speak of it as if it is nothing special when I see you have taken it far enough to prove you really do have the right idea. If I were a wealthier man, I would offer to commission you to do a large seascape.
This was helpful! I use watercolor pencils and wonder what you’d have done differently with them. When would you apply water? At the end or after each stage? Thank you!
your damn great.being a fellow artist,i could clearly understand your advice and you made it much easier for me.thanks, keep up the good work.subscribed:)
This is a really helpful tutorial! I have a challenge for you! Here it is: Draw a little girl holding a doll. It seems kind of hard to me, but I know you're an amazing artist! You don't have to do it, of course, but I'd love if you would, and I bet it'd be really fun!
Great tutorial. One issue: using a Non-Photo blue in a video or photographed drawing is self defeating as the entire purpose of the non-photo blue pencil is that it is not visible on camera.... just an observation for future reference ;-)
As a total beginner, and seeing how this was just a demo, I would have gotten more out of it if you would have sketched the beginning with heavier lines so your camera would pick it up.
