"Living relatives: yes. Loved ones: no." That line absolutely slayed me. The delivery from Grant - perfection.
"That's such a relief."
Man, i swear it's not an insult, Grant was a perfect cast for the office job man LOL
Just the right amount of cheery, but business focused. Also i think the subplot is that he definitely not human
*FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS I LAY DORMANT, WHO HAS DISTURBED MY-* Oh it's Team Four Star with a new video. Awesome.
Ha
They are the hype
Oh, it is you, my Master!
Hey Vegeta!
Hey Best buddy
I hate that TFS' non-DBZ videos don't get as many views as their traditional content. This was a great video! Good job and I hope you continue this as a series!
I agree. Feels very early College Humor-ish.
It's the curse of an established audience. Even if you are really good, people just want that thing they already know from you.
Mrs. Alderman: Traditionally, they're eaten.
Harold: Why?
Mrs. Alderman: _(Visibly confused)_
Great interaction!
She was almost 200 years old and applying for permission to die. Clearly eating is not necessary for continued survival. Then again, she did need to take medication and vitamins, so it isn't clear how this immortality works.
Him asking that question really made me question if his character was remotely human, or just guised as one. Because he seemed to fully grasp plenty of other human things just fine, but *the food*. Definitely would like more of this, where we get a better glimpse into what exactly the Death Audit is and who(or what) the workers are and what they're like.
@@Nerdnumberone I think this implies not chance of death but having agitating symptoms from sickness and disease. So while you cannot die without permission, you can still feel deathly sick
I'm not going to lie, I connected so hard with that woman; ESPECIALLY in that moment. My brain went "holy jesus, why DO people eat them?!" and then the tears started.
@@jackiechan715 I was wondering the same thing, especially when he seemed surprised she had named the ducks, could tell them apart, and his clearly unfamiliarity with basic throwing.
This was fan-fucking-tastic. The pacing, the idea a semi dystopian society where one can only die when given permission, the simple sets all meshed well and Grant and Pamela played well off of each other. Grants character was a treat, and Pamela gave a wonderful performance as well. This was a great idea executed very well. I look forward to more from you guys!
It opens up a morbid thought to me though. If someone offs themselves without permission could they get sued in the afterlife or do their loved ones and/or the sources of the individual's trauma have fines to pay?
@@DracoMagnius You're assuming it's physically possible to kill yourself in this world. Say you throw yourself in front of a train, congrats, you're now stuck in a mutilated body.
@@DracoMagnius I have a feeling it's somehow physically impossible in this world for people to die without permission. Otherwise nature would claim people before agency had a say
While I see all the potential issues, I kinda get the appeal. No one dying until they're ready and everyone is ready to let them go. If humanity ever had power over death, I could definitely see this happening. This concept could be explored in a full series.
Apparently eating isn't a thing anymore either.
Mrs. Alderman: Traditionally, they're eaten.
Harold: Why?
Mrs. Alderman: (Visibly confused)
I know original productions have been difficult for you guys, but please keep going. You're made for this
I agree wholeheartedly. I love their content more on an original scale. I love DBZA of course but they're excellent for commentary and original content.
This was a surprising treat. The directing, music, acting and writing worked very well for me. I’d love to see more one-off videos from you guys!
I liked that they made it in 4:3 aspect ratio to really drill in the early 90's feel of it.
This was very strange yet surprisingly interesting video,I hope we see more.
Also “we call it the basic bitch death “
Was the funniest part 😂
"The Cameron" 🤣 TFS never disappoints
Unexpected content from TFS but WOW the subtly in the writing was fantastic. Where they both seems to know theres more going on. The auditor almost acting human to perform thier job and the audited seems to act like hes human just as much if not more. Fantastic work!
So, Im aware I might be digging too deeply into this concept, but in this sort of world, would people who die sudden unexpected deaths without the proper paperwork be seen as something similar to tax evaders?
"Mrs. Wilson, I'm here about your husband, Bertram, who passed away recently? Are you aware he never filled out his DR-33 form?"
What if they just...don't. Like under no circumstances do you die without approval, barring extreme circumstances like total obligation or your brain getting pasted
@@munchies982 That could be something. Given the mention of loved ones, skills and quality of life, I could see people who get like severely injured being visited and possibly getting their cases expedited.
@@josephperez2004 like basically the concept of pulling the plug when on life support but to the extreme. And life insurance is used not to give to the family but to pay any fines for putting yourself in debilitating danger(formally referred to mortal danger)
Sure gives an entirely different meaning to "You'll never take me alive, coppers!"
I’m just happy that nothing can stop them being their clever, clever selves.
You know that TFS are starting to get their name out there when they can get a Hollywood actress for a comedy short... Can't wait to see more from you guys!
Grant is the perfect casting choice for this, his dry monotone voice makes the jokes hit harder🤣
I hope TFS continues this into a series
This was a good short altogether. I do like the jokes altogether and Grant does manage to keep the optimistic office job motif perfectly, which adds more to the darkness of the humor. Hope this pays off and i look forward to see more of your work, especially continuing Unabridged.
Agreed! And man, I loved Unabridged, I wonder what happened to it... I know they had to stop because of Covid but...!
Well done. Really liked this. Auditor was so unsettling in his detachment. Grant and Pamela crushed it.
….now I’m kinda craving lemon squares.
Lovely thing. Grant is such a natural, handsome and intelligent actor. Great show.
This was really something... so unbelievably unsettling...! What and idea, a future where you are not even allowed to die when you want, that's horrifying but not too crazy for humans' standards... glad to see TFS branching out, trying new things and express their talents in new fantastic ways, well done Stephen and well done Grant! Wonder what's next!!
Damn, that harold guy is not only smart, but also pretty handsome
Didn't even realize this was TFS at first. Great to see you guys branching out to other stuff
wow...what a twist on the concept of the grim reaper...and on top of that, this was so well put together guys!!! Hope this video gets the recognition it deserves!
Our little boy Grant grew up
I would LOVE to see a "behind the scenes" video showing the making of these shorts. These are glorious and beautiful.
The music, the transitions, especially with the lemon squares, the acting, everything was peak cinematography, I definitely didn't expect a short like this from TFS but y'all should absolutely continue stuff like this, 10/10
🔝🔝Thanks for watching..🔝🔝 messages right away i have Something for you🔝🔝...
Wow, was not expecting myself to be as invested in this as I was. Such an interesting premise, great writing, and the acting was phenomenal all around. Awesome work!!!
I need Grant in everything.
I love rhe creativity you put in your ideas. Thank you Stephen for writing this and thank you Grant for being your lovable self
So, I knew I was coming into this biased since it's Grant, but this was legitimately fantastic! The timing, the quips, the weird premise: it all worked so well!
I actually really enjoyed seeing Grant in a role.
I had to do a double take when I realized that our main character was played by Grant! Solid work, dude!
It's so refreshing to see someone who enjoys their job this much.
Whoever coordinated the lighting here is really damn good at their job.
Well it doesn't get better in the long run.
Fulfillment cannot last forever; we cling to life as hard and long as we can, then we realise we do need something beyond just breathing and a beating heart.
With that being said, preserve your happiness :)
God, the dystopian levels of "you're not even allowed to die if you're still useful to the system."
This is actually fun. I would totally want to see a mini series like this
Okay, so I'm rewatching this because it's amazing, but I just caught something. When he's observing the lemon squares, the woman says, "Traditionally, they're eaten," and she's quickly interrupted when he asks "Why?" I initially thought it was just him being silly, but she then seems uncertain on how to answer him, as though suddenly wondering, "Actually, why indeed ARE they eaten?" It raises the question about the necessity of food in their world. I said it in my initial comment and I'll say it again, I would really love for an expansion on this world!
This was genuinely one of my favorite TFS bits, Grant's performance was amazing, concept was good, the direction and camera work are great, I would love to see more of this
It's crazy how RUclips never recommended this to me. I'm subscribed and watch everything on the channel. I had to go browsing through the channel's videos to see it. And I'm a pretty heavy user, it should have recommended this to me at least once over the past two weeks.
I used to regularly follow you guys way back when you all started (including some of you're guy's earlier individual pre-teamfourstar work) and like a lot of people who grew up with you guys in middle/highschool I eventually got too busy in life and stopped watching for years, I started checking things out again fairly recently and this kind of stuff is just *chief's kiss*, its wild to see how much you guys have grown in the creative space and I'm really disappointed for you all that this video doesn't have more traction when it's so well done. Don't stop, just like with DBZ abridged, there are people out there that realllllly appreciate this kind of media, and they'll start to see this kind of stuff a lot more if you just keep doing it.
Thanks for the years of great content!
Can we please get this as a series? I must absorb *the looore*
Damn. If I didn't know I was watching this from the TFS channel I would've thought this was an Adult Swim show.
A few of the team have mentioned they are fans of Williams Street, the company that makes most of the Adult Swim original programming.
"Goodbye forever!" really got me lmao
"If you're still supplying, you ain't dying" that's what I used to say to my dealer before he stoped selling.... (RIP Manny, should have kept supplying)
Honestly this is very different from what I'm used to with this channel yet this was really fun !
Grant really is a great comedic actor, the dude just screams charisma whenever he's on screen
Also editing to add. Pamela? Such a lovely performance, really played up the sweet and troubled grandma-like character
🔝🔝Thanks for watching..🔝🔝 messages right away i have Something for you🔝🔝
Everyone did a great Job. Grant as always killing it.
This was really fun to watch, Grant did a really good job. I'd watch more of this
RIP Mrs. Alderman
They're always so good and Grants casual delivery is so good! Always good to see him and would love to see him in more roles.
Damn man! That was quite a stylized short! I don't know what kind of camera they used to shoot this, but it really enhanced the surreal, dreamlike feel of this weird-ass death concept. The colours are so rich, here!
Fantastic stuff!
This has left me speechless but I can tell this is impressive, good job guys.
Immortality but at the cost of how useful you are to society. Audited for the ability to be released from the never ending nightmare life has become. I enjoy my work, but I would not want to do 150 years more of it. Sublime cosmic horror.
I also am disappointed this content generally gets less notice. The quality on this material is well done. A lot of care and effort has gone into it and it shows.
One of my favorite books of all time, Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett, has something a bit similar. Only there after his retirement, the personification of death tries farming. He is good with the scythe, after all.
this was really well done - especially the old style feel... the costuming and filming. great actors, grant killed it (pun intended)
i hope that we'll see more of unabridged soon!
This was such a creative and interesting short film you guys made! I love the premise and the little details you thought of were awesome! Would love to see more of these!
Casting Grant was perfect. He's so smart and handsome
This reminds me of the old Whitest Kids You Know sketches.
Loved it.
You knocked it out of the park and broke an orphanages window.
I hope you're proud of yourselves.
Love this.
Especially how the auditor feels almost uncanny. Every interaction feels just slightly off. Like a well practiced mimicry of humanity.
🔝🔝Thanks for watching..🔝🔝 messages right away i have Something for you🔝🔝..
This is morbidly hilarious, I’m so here for it!
That was great! Loved it, good to see you guys expressing your creativity through different mediums!
Oh, I like this.
I'd like some more please
This was great. It's a good premise for a dark comedy, where even death has become bureaucratic. Grant did a fantastic job here, that friendly professional with things being just a bit off.
This was extremely existentially uncomfortable to watch, very well done to everyone on the team!
So like, what would happen if their application was denied? Would that mean they’d have another year to live? If that woman’s application was denied, would she have lived to be 200?
I assume in a bureaucracy like that there’s basically a point system and that system dictates any applicant over a certain age is immediately approved.
Man, Grant's so smart and handsome. Absolutely knocked this role out of the park.
Acting was amazing. Atmosphere was immersive. Concept was pretty fresh.
I was expecting a sad ending, but I felt glad for the lady at the end.
This was delightfully dark and funny! Thanks, TeamFourStar! Happy Thanksgiving!
I really like the editing in this. And the directing was great too. I really enjoyed this.
pretty much immortal when you’re almost 200
Me, anytime TFS uploads anything: 👀
But srsly, this was a great short. Definitely has potential to be a pilot for a full series.
This was mildly entertaining. Good job guys.
Knocked it out of the park again. Glad y'all are still making content.
Oh man, I love the stache. Grant looks like you grabbed him from a cubicle in the 80s and he brought his fax machine with him.
Really enjoyed this short
Never thought of it until now but a faxing machine really sound just like a telephone taking a big ol' dump
I wasn't sure about it in the beginning but the video was amazing. The actors hit it out of the park for me. The story was funny and intriguing. I want more. I want to explore more of this universe. I hope you guys make more.
Thanks to the cast, crew and TFS for this.
🔝🔝Thanks for watching..🔝🔝 messages right away i have Something for you🔝🔝
This was really well done, I love these comedy skits you guys put out
A TFS upload on Thanksgiving? In MY RUclips feed??
It's more likely (and joyful) than you'd think.
Awesome work by all!
Grant needs to be in more Sketches or find a way to get on a Supermarket/Office type show.
Grant looks fucking incredible with a mustache! Not many people these days can pull off a good stache, and Grant certainly has!
"If you're still supplying, you're not dying."
As dark as this sketch is, I found it surprisingly wholesome?
This was a great short. It was dark, funny, and really creepy. Hope they make more shorts like these
Wow not only is Grant smart and handsome but he's a good actor too
darkly hilarious, awkward and excellently delivered acting. Love it!
Absolutely amazing. Grant great work here
Genuinely interesting concept, grand execution, and it stuck the landing. 10/10 in my book.
That was a great little skit. Grant played a very convincing bureaucratic peon.
I love that you're doing these shorts
I can't believe they let death become a corporate business. Great world and great acting.
🔝🔝Thanks for watching..🔝🔝 messages right away i have Something for you🔝🔝.
I truly appreciate this new idea from you guys.
This is so well done, I'm really impressed.
Please make more of this kind of stuff. This was awesome!
🔝🔝Thanks for watching..🔝🔝 messages right away i have Something for you🔝🔝...
Grant really did a good job here. I actually wouldn't mind a series like this. Just a sequence of episode where Grant asked to visit different people's homes and either approved or deny their death application. I feel like it could be great dark comedy and also have a great level of charm.
This was awesome! Great work TFS! Keep doing original content!
Absolutely wonderful. Keep them coming guys
I'm a little ashamed I let this sit on my watch later so long. This was definitely a treat and Grant was awesome
This was so quirky, it was a delight! Such an interesting concept
Great seeing Grant on the channel again. Love the good times zone stuff but it would be great to see grant and Kieran do some collaborations still with TFS
This really should have gotten alot more attention, it’s absolutely GOAT’d
