I've been doing sewer and drain video inspections for about 20 years. I wear gloves and I've always used a paper towel rather than my sleeve to clean the lens. Learn something new every day. 😁

Is this a manageable DYI? I’ve got 2 quotes for $7000 to remove the floor for a bathroom roughed in to move a shower drain 4” a toilet 2 feet and add a line for a bar 7’ with water lines to all. This seems manageable for a DYI with a 2” slab. I have no urgent timeline to get it done. Thoughts?

I hope when you dig the pipes that they are where the plumber said they are. I paid a plumber $285 to locate my septic tank and he ran the camera and give me an exact location. When it came time to dig it, the tank was 80' from the house, lol. No wonder we couldn't locate it with the metal rods (the first time) as we never thought is was so far away.

Septic tanks are always outside the house anyway, even common knowledge would have helped

Great video! Question: I bought a home with a fully finished basement and my sump pump pit has a mystery white pvc pipe that enters it from the basement area. I asked the previous owners what I goes to and they said there is a floor drain in the basement but cannot remember where it was. They were both older folks that had the basement finished in 2003 just 2 years after they built the home so I understand how they could forget. Everything is carpeted and tile so I can’t see where the top of drain would be and the area I’m suspecting (under stairs by the furnace/water heater) is all tile! I want to find the drain and pop tile so I can use it for my furnace condensate line instead of the little pump that’s there now that pumps it up and into a pvc line somewhere. Basically I just want to omit the condensate pump, drain to floor so it goes to sump on other end of basement.
Question is, would a pipe finder still work but didn’t have the camera snake? How can I find where the heck this damn drain grate is!!??? Thanks

See I'm a contractor and I do this for living all the time.
I always hire an electrical eel company to come and find the exact location of pipes or drains in these occasions.
I highly recommend you to hire someone to come when an inspection camera just like what I did in this video.
They will be able to tell you where exactly it's located.
They work with these devices on everyday basis and they know the exact locations and exact noises these machines make.
And the charges are fairly cheap.
As far as the drain for your furnace you really don't have to find that floor drain for it.
If you hire someone that works on furnaces they will explain to you there are certain small pumps that could be installed right next to the furnace and it could pump all that condensation an extra water outside the house or in a floor drain or inside your sump pump.
You necessarily don't have to have a floor drain for it.

@@renovationschool8818I appreciate your feedback. I already have a small pump right next to the furnace. The reason I want to find the floor drain assuming it’s by the furnace of course, is so I can get rid of the pump and drain to the floor drain. Problem is that the sump pit is far on other side of basement and the basement floor is all 12”X12” ceramic tile.
