So uh, fun fact about Maine Coons: they and other large cat breeds sometimes don't reach full size til they're 4 or 5, this absolute unit might not be done growing.
Yep. My maine coon kitties are absolute units. They're still growing but the full grown ones i have are massive. Thankfully my cts are definition of gentle giants.
Not every coat is identical ofc but part of it comes down to early training and getting your cat to trust you. A simple combing once a week is most of the time ok for my nearly 3y old MC. Never used a blowdryer on her yet but she's used to the sound, just in case it would be needed.
I don’t have a Maine Coon but a Siberian Forest Cat. They have a lot of fur but it’s thin, so most of the time I just use a comb as needed and they rarely shed. Meanwhile my short hair sheds like crazy lol
@@mrgoober6320my Coonie never matted, but he clogged the central vacuum cleaner pipe. I used a steel flea comb on him every couple of days, to get through the wooly undercoat.
I had a Maine Coon i regularly bathed. He was abandoned (found him living/eating out of a dumpster, no chip, no tag, no missing reports) and was a mess. He took REALLY well to bathing. He just looked up at me terrified, but accepted it. But once he was done and dry, you could see the relief on his face and in his body language. Ever since then he would let me bath him with minimal fuss, and would literally *strut* around the house afterward. He knew he was gorgeous.
I did cat rescue for 10 years, bathed a lot of cats. (Once washed 14 in a day, in the shower with me one at a time, no bloodshed. They called me the cat whisperer.😸) I can't say any of them liked being wet, but many of them were clearly happier once they were clean.
@sailincat2822 I did the same. He would sit in my lap while I bathed him. Shower head on a hose with a closed feature. Would have the water on, but the shower head closed and at my side. I could reach and turn the shower head on/off as needed. He still had his limits; if I took too long, he'd fuss and occasionally inadvertently give a small scratch, but we got pretty good at finding a rhythm. He would never let me blow dry him, but I would towel him off as best as possible, and then he'd go sit and roll around on his heating pad till dry, lol.
Look up the largest Maine coons. They're crazy. Length of 48.5 inches was apparently the biggest recorded one. But their size usually gives them weak hearts, so I wouldn't recommend them as a breed in general. Good news though: some breeders switched to health instead of size, so you can get still a large cat that will stay with you for a long time
I want a white tiger. Even if I could get the permit... im afraid if I'm late on her food bill like I sometimes am for comcast, I would suffer from an unexcused absence from work... After 3 days they would assume I just quit.
@@minnesotasquad There was no intimidation there, it was all fear and stress. Poor boy is a gentle soul but easily terrified. i wish she had worked a bit harder to build some trust with him. She treated him too much like a dog. When cats are stressed they don't want to eat, they want space or affection. She can't give him space because she needs to groom him, so she should've spent some time petting him especially around the face, chin, cheeks, and breast, more so then just petting his back like you would a dog.
Poor Rocket that rage cage was awful for him. He looked so scared. It was too loud for him. A quiet hand blow dryer might have worked better. I hope that sweet boy eventually calmed down 😬
He looks just like my kitty. Her name is Catcher. She was massive too & weighed close to 30lbs. She used to hate taking baths.. She was deathly afraid of loud unfamiliar noises. Unfortunately she passed away on March 8 from old age. I had her for 17 years. She really is the greatest cat in the history of cats. I miss her.
I'm so sorry for your loss. 💔 I lost my soulmate Tessie in February 2022 and I still miss her so much; we have a new kitty now, but no kitty will ever replace Tessie in my heart. 💙 I'm sure Tessie has already made friends with Catcher, up there in the Summerlands, and they'll keep each other company while they wait by the Rainbow Bridge. 🐈🐈⬛
Im so sorry to read this. If Catcher was a Main Coon she was probably such a cuddler, so smart and how you must miss her. :( I love that at 7:35 she states that owners of these probably just wanted a tiger LOL mine could fit in the palm of my hand when I got him. "A barn cat they said" Then he grew, and grew & still grows. All black at 20 lbs with 7-8 digits on each paw. (that should have been my first clue)
Deepest sympathies. It is never easy losing a part of your family. I believe you'll see her again some day way off in the future when you cross over. It wouldn't be heavenly without them.
Honestly the main reason we have our mainies groomed every 3 months is to get rid of the mats. Sani trim and belly shave for them all! (By the way, I thought she said the owner wanted a sani trim, so why wasn't it shown?
@@Beeti1 Exactly, that's what we're all here for. That's why we chose Vanessa's channel - she always does what she can to completely freak those animal out.
We have a Norwegian Forest - and I thought he was a big boy at 18lb, but he's a featherweight compared to Rocket! Our fella is getting old now though, and these days he's a lot leaner than he used to be. Like Rocket, he's a gentle giant - 15 years we've had him, he's never bit or scratched anyone.
genuinely he is one of the calmest cats ive ever seen be bathed, and I've bathed a good few cats in my lifetime. he's also absolutely stunning gorgeous
The fact that you can tell he's not incredibly happy but even in the rage cage you don't hear him yowling or hissing or growling is a real testament to his temperament. What an absolute unit 😂 he's so beautiful!
It shows the process of a cat trusting a complete stranger until it realizes it's not a threat environment. Vanessa did a great job both with grooming, and understanding what Rocket was going through. I loved to watch it, seriously.
@@mbm8690 I doubt it. Maine Coons are the chillest Cat's and they don't mind getting wet. When a cat's sedated their inner eyelids start covering their eye's. This did not happen here.
At around 8:43 Poor baby has adopted the ways of the ostrich when terrified. He says if I bury my head and I can’t see it that means it isn’t there. lol 🐈
My ex and I had a russian blue that did this *all the time* - every vet visit, he'd jam his face into the closest armpit and growl the whole time. Such a dramatic, devoted little brat; I miss him terribly to this day.
I like how you talk to him continuously. They may not (or may) have words, but they are soothed by the human voice! I have a Maine Coon cat, who unlike my tabby, does not understand any words. But he LIVES to be talked to, and with, and he talks quite a bit, both starting and pursuing conversation. When I meow to him, making different noises, he may not understand what I’m saying (neither do I), but he knows I’m talking to him, and he talks back. He makes a very good companion!
It's so good when you point out "warning/ danger" signs to the pet' s health while grooming, as you did for Rocket's open mouth breathing today. Kudos to Rocket's owners for brushing him regularly to avoid mats! ❤
I was so glad she did too - she’s so knowledgeable about dogs and cats, and I love that she’s so good at explaining what’s going on so owners can understand their dog or cat better and know what to watch out for.
Yep! Normally stress panting in a cat will have no major effect (besides them having a thoroughly unpleasant time) and they'll return to normal quickly, but you have to keep an eye on them -- in one of my cats, it was made more serious by his heart murmur. When his heart would beat too fast, like at the vet, it became unable to work effectively, and he would pant and become slightly hypoxic (pale gums). However, despite this minor murmur, he was a very active -- even athletic -- cat, and lived to see 15. How running top speed didn't overtax his heart, but the vet's office did, I can't quite understand.
Totally traumatized in that "rage cage"! Lost a lot of respect here. So, unnecessary! If I were the owner and saw that video, I'd be in tears. Disgusting. Horrible trauma to the cat, and will be with him for a long time. No more groomers for him, for near future. Omg. 😢
@@marvamerryman8308 The owner was literally in the comments talking about how this groom was needed and Rocket was perfectly fine. Vanessa even texted the owner as the panting was happening. Rocket was chill in the crate when the owner showed up, and acted 100% himself when they got home.
They are amazing cats. Total goofballs. Follow you around the house, make funny chirpy noises. I am a first time cat owner and got one - she's not as big as this guy. 12.5 lbs at 10 months. Probably will hit about 15-ish which is the upper end for female.
I have one that's mixed with tabby and she's a total goof. She has very dog-like manners and just started rolling over for belly rubs. She has such a kind and personable temperament, very wonderful cats. ...just high maintenance, but they adjust to brushing baths from a young age. ❤
I had a big boy Maine Coon and he was the sweetest boy in the world, he wouldn't scratch or bite me even at the vet where he was terrified. The nurses would be worried when I want to hold him while they work on him but if biting me made him less scared I wouldn't have even minded. He didn't like strangers and was very jealous if we got new animals but he was always the favorite and he knew it. I miss him dearly.
I had one for 10 years and he was the best pet I've ever had. He only ever legitimately scratched me in a non playful way once in his life. I've also heard from other main coon owners that weird quirks are common. Mine liked to eat soft plastic so I had to hide everything like that from him. To him a plastic grocery bag was like a ribeye steak.
I had a Maine Coon ! He was me soul mate. Cruiser. He came tome because his human passed away and family did not want him. He stayed till he was 14 with me. Became a diabetic and I gave him his shots and cooked special food for him ! My child for all intense purpose. Thank You FOR ALL OF THE GOODNESS YOU GIVE TO So many family members.
You just described my cat Thomas. I got him from a shelter and they told me that his owner left town and left him behind. Sweet boy. He developed diabetes and he died right before his 14th birthday. Such a good cat, it was worth it to give him shots and special food and all that for the last 5 years of his life.
my cat ben i rescued along w/ his sister Gladys had an untimely death in April at only six years old. I hate cancer. Ben was my best friend for 6 great years and 5 stressful months He had a nasal polyp, and we took him to the vet, and they removed it but then after that sometimes he wouldn't eat. his eye was bulging progressively more. His inner eyelid was sticking out. it turns out somewhere behind there was a large mass. They gave hm some x-rays before pulling a tooth and saw the cancer. In the span of 6 hours, we went from thinking pulling the infected tooth would make him better to putting dirt on his grave. the cancer was so intense that even if we didn't put him down, he would have died in a day or two if not hours. Oh, btw we kept taking him to the vet after nasal polyp surgery and giving him medicine and going to the holistic vet to get him ozone treatments and giving him natural medicine and all kinds of stuff. we put so many drops in his eyes and nose. R.I.P. Benjamin Best Cat on Earth
I did the same for Fluffybutt, he was half Mainecoon diabetic cancer survivor with a heart murmur. I tested his blood, gave him his shots, found the best all meat food for him. He was 18 when he left me. He was like you said my soulmate in a cat. His pic will forever be my phone locked screen😪
Aw, he's precious! He reminds me of my baby who passed due to cancer. He was part Maine Coon and weighed 26 pounds. He was the kindest and gentlest of cats. You were so kind and patient with him and took the time to address his stress. God Bless you. You work with Angels. 😇
What a beautiful and gentle cat. I think poor Rocket was headed for the moon when the dryer hit him. It's great that Vanessa knows a cat's stress signs and stopped, so this grooming wasn't a bad experience for him. My dream cat would be a Maine Coon, but I'm allergic to cats and also too poor for vet bills. 😭 Thank you to Rocket's owners for letting me enjoy him via the internet.
hey! Thats so sweet to hear. One of my friends also had a severe cat allergy, he decided to become a vet assistant nonetheless, and slowly but surely, his allergy went away. Concerning the money part - Maybe you can look for animal shelters in your area. I am regularly visiting one here to help out with the cats - meaning cuddling them and playing with them so they have a better socialisation. Maybe this could be something for you too?
There are hypoallergenic cat breeds. They're mainly really short haired cats that only shed once or twice a year. But when they shed... THEY SHED. So... Yeah. (Not the sphynx, please don't get one. They often suffer from a lot of medical conditions because of bad genetics and poor breeding.)
I have been allergic to cats my entire 3 Score and 1 year on this shining blue ball floating in space. Several years ago I bred Persians. Before that I had a pet Mountain Lion (honestly). Now we have 6 cats and a dog. The wife is the head technician at one of the top Veterinary Clinics in the state... so she comes home every day with different cat fur on her scrubs.
You don't always choose a giant cat. Sometimes you get a little kitten and he surprises you. One of my orange guys is immense, and the other one isn't. But if you get a purebred Maine Coon, yeah, you chose to go big.
I got a rescue cat and he is a verry large cat and also skinny, we think he might have some main coon or is a large norvegian forest cat 🤭 he is 2yo so we'll see 😂 he is a dog in a catbody 😂)
I feel bad for cats that are super overweight as they just turn into lard lol, seeing a healthy weight cat and how it acts vs an ow one is like night and day
@@bagelmaster2498 Honestly, Rocket isn't overweight at 30lbs. There are MCs I've seen who are huge, some stand on their hind feet at 4' tall. M cats are super muscular and they are great company. The boys can be great clowns, super fun and occasionally derpy.
My favorite cats are ones like these, even at the point of being scared out of his wits, Rocket did not resort to violence. He really just wanted all this to stop
@Nameless-lk8ld ChuOWOWOWOWOWOW, MY EARS! is an exception, though. "Who's not turning off the car alarm, it's been going for hours! Oh, it's a rat! Wtf!?"

Rocket is so 💙handsome💙!!! As a previous Maine Coon owner I would have NEVER subjected anyone else to bathe him!! He was 32lbs and he was ENORMOUS!!! I would wake up with him laying on my chest and couldn’t figure out why I was having trouble breathing as a woman that weighs 110lbs!!! It was his second favorite place to sleep as his preferred spot was the nook of my knee on my pillow as I slept on my side. He was MASSIVE and when we would brush him you could create another cat with his fur!! We brushed him constantly and you always knew whose whisker we found on the floor too!!
Poor baby! Makes NO difference that he's LARGE-he was obviously terrified. THIS is why Vanessa is sooo BELOVED & respected! The client's well being ALWAYS comes first-period.❤❤
She's beloved and respected because people have no clue. The cat was stressed to the point of open mouth breathing. Clearly the clients well being does not come first. It did not need any of this. Cats don't need to be bathed unless special circumstances, and this was a healthy looking cat, not dirty and not matted. Generally a cat would only need some brushing once in a while, which they usually like. This was done purely for the looks, by people who buy cats from breeders, instead of adopting cats that need a home. People who clearly have it for the looks, and this woman enables that.
@Beeti1 Did you watch the video or did you just want make a point? If you paid attention to the video, she literally says that she changed the way she had to air blowdry Rocket because he was open mouth breathing. She specifically describes he was, changed her methods, and even said if he did not relax in the crate she would have stopped altogether. And with a Maincoone or any longhair cat, if you're not on top of them, they get matted very easily. I had a tabby and while I did not bathe her constantly, she still got a constantly brushing and taken for a hair clip so she wouldn't get any dirt stuck to her paws and butt. Cata can't get every single little thing, so it's 'not just for looks', it's general upkeep. Some don't need it because they are very healthy and take care of themselves purely through grooming, others cats can't due to health issues or other means so you help them out. Instead of being excited of talking down on the woman's profession, how about you pay attention, watch the video and learn properly. People like you are so excited to tell people their wrong and give an opinion no one asked for, but you never want to listen.
@@Beeti1 I'm Rocket's owner. First I want to say that Vanessa texted me immediatly to let me know about the blow dryer. When I picked him up he was very calm and content in his carrier and he was acting 100% himself when he got home. Thats not to say he wasn't stressed in the moment, he obviously was, but Vanessa handled it well and Rocket is absolutely fine. Now we know not to use a blow dryer on him like that. Secondly, he didn't have any mats at his appointment because I do brush him often but he does get mats pretty often. Most commonly in his thigh fur and armpit fur, the mats sometimes pop up over night and can get as big as my thumb. I can brush him everyday and somehow find a mat the next day. Brushing them out doesn't always work as its too matted or too uncomfortable for him so I have to trim them out most of the time. He also rolls around on the floor a lot and I take him outside occasionally, his long tummy and chest fur is like a duster gets stuff stuck in it. Thats why I got her to trim the areas she did. Why did he need a bath? Yes visually he looks very clean and hes generally good with grooming himself. But he gets stinky. He has so much fur that it just traps smells. When I was using clay litter the dust would cling to his fur. His butt can get especially stinky. As you can imagine he also sheds a lot. When he grooms h ends up ingesting a lot of fur which leads to massive (literally 2-3 inch long) hairballs.Brushing does help with this but I find the occasionally bath is the best to help get rid of the loose fur. I bathed him more often as a kitten to get him used to baths. Now I only bath him maybe every 2 to 3 months? Really just when he gets especially stinky or I notice hes shedding more. He rarely has hair balls because of his baths. This groom was really needed. This is his first summer eith his full coat and his hair balls in May were really bad. Since this groom he hasn't had a single one 😊 If he really didn't like baths I wouldn't put him through it but at home I've never been scratched while bathing him. He's very chill and will sit and endure it.
@@kimip156Hi @kimip156. I rarely comment, but have a few things to say: 1) it's obvious Rocket is loved and well cared for. As someone who has been a pet parent (mostly cats) for 50+ years, I could tell he was well-groomed but definitely a bit greasy. That alone would require a bath to correct because a simple wipe down usually wouldn't be enough; 2) Vanessa has always shown the utmost care for her clients, which, I'm guessing is one of the reasons you sought her out. So I hope some of the comments on here won't deter you from coming to Vanessa again in the future--or any other groomer--if you feel a groom would be in Rocket's best interest; and, 3) I do hope you nor Vanessa have taken any of the judgmental comments to heart. These know-it-alls like the sound of their own voices, seemingly. They don't know you. They don't know what's best for YOUR fur baby, Rocket. YOU DO! Anyway, I'm not a 40+ year feline practitioner, just a 50+ year cat pet parent who's learned a thing or two... or three.😉😁
Yeah, I was thinking of my female cat. I grew up with. She was attitude on four paws, and she would've ripped in immediately and done damage! She was so violent at the vet. They had to sedate her all the time or risk losing their fingers. He's big, but he's, got such a good temperament… I'm impressed!
@@Beeti1 Cats do need to be bathed. Not as often as dogs but they definitely need to be bathed. Especially if they're long-haired or they've gotten into something.
@@juliaforsyth8332 Cats dont need a bath that often , but is better to have them get used to it from young, in case they end up needing a bath for some reason . Or it will be a nightmare to try give a adult one first bath.
@@v4v819 I have to agree with the others, to me he is looking scared and panicked and would rather just escape from this situation than fight. If he would be able to, he would just run. On the other hand, that blinks and winks might just be a way to make the "agressor" (the groomer) stop. Like a: "hey, I am not hurting you, please be gentle with me"
We had a Maine Coon/Siamese mix..... He was about the size of a Cocker Spaniel with the Siamese blue eyes the size of quarters. I miss my boy. Good job Rocket...you tolerated the tiny human well. EDIT- Vanessa, you should charge extra if you could fit into a cats mouth....

I have 3 kitties and I struggle so much to just wipe them with a damp cloth. Much respect to Vanessa for bathing and drying such a gigantic, volatile stack of hay😂
My main coon George freaks out if he notices anything in my hand, because it might be an eye dropper, or a Q-tip, or a flea comb, or who knows what. He checks both my hands before I'm allowed to pet. If he does panic - forget it. It makes no difference that he's loved and trusted me for 12 years.
I use unscented baby wipes to freshen up my cats for but they get brushed three or four times a day because I use those wet hair brushes, and they both love it. My cats are fluffy and clean and free of any mats.
What a big, pretty fuzzball he is! Reminds me of a stray I helped last summer, not nearly as big, but a longhaired cat that needed help. Fed him until he trusted me, then got him to a vet, he was chipped, so I had to let him go. Still miss him, he showed me all the love I gave to him.
Rocket's hopeful yet questioning look once he finally saw his cage was so full of emotion, especially since he had completely given up moments before. "Really? I can go home? This isn't a trick, right?"
Aww, he makes me miss my Pepé. I had a tuxedo Maine Coon and he was an absolute sweetheart and I thought one of the largest I’ve ever seen, clocking in at 27 pounds, until I saw Rocket here! When Vanessa said that she thinks people must get large cats because they want lions or tigers, it wasn’t that way for me. I adopted him from our local shelter because I fell in love with his personality. With all the chaos of the adoption fair that day, they didn’t have time to examine him of his size. Because of how big he was already, they guessed he was probably about a year old. I was surprised to find out that when I brought him to the vet for his first wellness check, they told me he was still a kitten because his adult teeth were just coming in. Oops 😬
I had a similar thing. I adopted a sweet 9lb baby. He had been born in the shelter or nearly, coming in with momma before his eyes were open. He was 3 months old when i got him and my vet went 'oh, no, there's a mistake on his for-- holy shit, he has baby teeth. No adult teeth in sight.' I went 'well, I knew he'd be big from the paws'. 25Lb once full grown/age 4.
We once adopted a 5 year old Maine Coon mix who was 32 pounds. He was so sweet and loved to be carried around draped over my forearm or like a baby in my arms. As a senior cat 10 years later, Nollie's weight quickly dropped to 16 pounds. That's still *twice* what our current cat weighs at his ideal size, but Nollie was practically skin and bones at 16 pounds.
All the maincoons I have met over the years have an incredible temperment and absolutely love being brushed but it all depends on the owners. Rocket is very quiet for being at the groomers for the first time. Kudos to both the owner and you Vanessa ❤ Those whiskers are incredible 😊
this is a very sweet kitty who has very much been bathed and cared for. even when the clippers came out and he was watching to see what the heck was happening he didn't stir away. good kitty!
I guess we're soon to expect a video that starts like this: "So. Two days ago our local zoo reached out to me. Their lion got into some sticky stuff and needs a groom. So, this is Simba, a 500 pound lion, and today we'll be doing a bath, de-matting his mane and shaving his sanitary regions. Oh, you're a big kitty, Simba. Will you get up on the table by yourself? He's really huge, in case you can't tell. I can't lift him, so unless he goes up ... Oh, that's a good boy, Simba. No, stay on the table. Good boy. Would you like a treat? No? I guess we won't be making friends today."
That's so funny because I use to have a cat that was half maine coon and half? But he was gun metal grey, all fluffy and his name was Simba. I miss that cat 😢❤
Vanessa I had a MaineCoon. Belle was my best friend, my shadow and my nurse. I had her for 17 years before she went across the rainbow bridge. I know she’s there waiting for me one day but until then she is happy and still playing like a kitten as she had to the very end. I have had 5 back surgeries and a lot of pain. When I was having a bad day and had to lay down she would come in with me and lay exactly where I was having pain. Heat always helped ease the pain some. She was like having a living heating pad that would conform to the exact shape to cover the pain. If I cried she would come and get in my face and rub against my head and lick my tears. She was actually a rescue from our local shelter. The worker didn’t want to let her go. There was Belle and she had 2 brothers. My daughter was little and she turned on the tears and the woman finally said “FINE YOU CAN HAVE THE FEMALE “. She was the most intelligent cat I have ever seen. She was very protective of me and my daughter. I will never forget her and never have a;other cat like her. Thank you for sharing Rocket today. He bought back a lot of good memories!!♥️ She definitely was a chunk but not nearly as big as him. 🤣 I love your videos and will watch them as long as you post them. I also love your Nana. She is a hoot!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Much love from Kentucky USA ♥️♥️♥️♥️
You not only have encyclopedic knowledge of dog and cat breeds but you also have the patience of a saint. I love watching your videos for your insights into whatever animal breed you are working with but also your love and respect for the animals.
Whiskers are cat's measuring tool to know if the place where his head is will be suitable to pass his body. A cat that big requires an inverted umbrella.
At the end rocket is such a typical cat. Spends all the time on the talbe trying to get back into the carrier and then when it's time to actually go in there he's like "nah, I never wanted to go kin there"
I don’t know if it would help, but in my brother and sister-in-law’s grooming parlor, my brother put the machinery of the blow dryer inside a cabinet, with the hose coming out of a fitted hole in the cabinet. It contained the sound quite a bit. You do an amazing job, so glad to see what you can do.
I rescued 2 long haired domestic kittens from the colony I feed. They're not even a year old yet and I can barely lift them. I'm old but not feeble!!! I'd love to get their DNA checked. They're half brothers.
@@nickywal Yes, rarely are purebred cats running around outside. My friend has a large cat she calls a Maine Coon that she found as a stray. I don't want to hurt her feelings, but he's just a big cat. Sometimes you can see where the DNA likely came from, especially with Siamese because they are very popular cats, but they're not purebred Siamese. I have some strays from a colony that I feed that are likely descendants of Siamese....way back.
My cat is possibly part Maine Coon, and I wanted to have her tested too. So I've done some research on cat DNA tests and one thing that came up is that selective breeding in cats is too recent to really be able to distinguish between breeds
@@sallyire1and given most breeds were just grabbed out the population for cool traits like points for siamese. My DSH looks very like a bombay, she's still a random mix, her mom was the most generic tabby ever, gorgeous very sweet cat though
Feral born cats, I've found, tend to be larger. It's natural selection because the ones who are larger survive the weather and predators better. They also may have a better chance of hunting food and in fighting for mates. The cats I've rescued as known feral kittens are all in the 15 + pound range.
I love MCs. Ours is MC but a smaller version. They are so clever, lovable, smart, trainable and very loyal. Just want to hug that big boy. He’s a kitty I’d like to keep
Yeah, I saw those whiskers when he had a happy hoodie on too. Wow he's got a full long set of whiskers and they are gorgeous! I think they add to his expressions wonderfully lol!
Good heavens, he looks like someone crossed a cougar with a sheep! What a coat! Someone's been taking very good care of him, by the look of it. No matting!? Amazing!
Well, when that dryer started blowing on him, Rocket surely lived up to his name. It looks like he was relatively okay with everything except that evil 'flamethrower'.
Then you dont have seen many main coons. Normaly they are not much bothered by anything and always curious. They are usualy absolutly chill to deal with.
I have a ragdoll. He Hates being groomed. He does the sudden swipe and bite attack. I had him as an older puss when his owner died but I have to take him to a professional to have a proper groom. He sits on the ground and I have a very sappy pine tree, that makes terrible mats in his fur.
Love the kitty videos, always can use more cat videos. Unfortunately cats tend to require a lot of time to build trust with them, crazy how well you handle them despite the lack of time.
Yeah I tend to be decent with cats because I know to politely ignore them until they're ready to approach me which can take a long while. (Actually there's one neighbourhood cat who frequently comes inside my house to explore and has napped on my bed more than once but I've barely been able to touch him still. He's not even a stray, I'm pretty sure he lives two doors down, he's just too dignified to cuddle.) And then there's dogs who are often just like "Hi new friend!"
Poor Rocket. The air was sooooo loud. Maybe something much quieter and more diffused like a dryer body blanket or something. .I’m impressed with how good mannered he is. I’d be offended by the rage cage, too.

Yep. My maine coon kitties are absolute units. They're still growing but the full grown ones i have are massive. Thankfully my cts are definition of gentle giants.
No matting on a massive ball of fluff? Props to the owner.
My late Maine Coon *adored* being vacuumed on the regular. He never got matted :-)
It's really just the breed. I don't think their fur mats.
@@mrgoober6320my Coonie never matted, but he clogged the central vacuum cleaner pipe.
I used a steel flea comb on him every couple of days, to get through the wooly undercoat.
That's amazing at how gentle he was. The whole time he looked like he was losing his mind but he never took it out on you.
A maincoon I knew would go to the neighbor kids for pets
Coons are typically freakishly chill. One of the reasons they're so popular.

@@MrTheHillfolk I love the size and the gentle spirit they have.. yea it's like having a Bobcat that is sweet..
he's such a sweetheart!
This is absolutely beautiful. I want this too someday
@@sailincat2822 Seems that's the way to do it. To bathe a cat expecting to stay dry yourself doesn't even seem fair.
Cats keep themselves clean. They do not normally need to be bathed.

Yes, 100 agree lol! Those eyes....
Poor Rocket that rage cage was awful for him. He looked so scared. It was too loud for him. A quiet hand blow dryer might have worked better. I hope that sweet boy eventually calmed down 😬

Rocket looked very offended by the rage cage dryer situation.

The reason I want a Maine Coon is 100% because of the kind of temperament Rocket has and that they are known for. He is such a beautiful, sweet boy.
You sure it’s not 85% of the reason?
To him a plastic grocery bag was like a ribeye steak.

my cat ben i rescued along w/ his sister Gladys had an untimely death in April at only six years old.

Since this groom he hasn't had a single one 😊
If he really didn't like baths I wouldn't put him through it but at home I've never been scratched while bathing him. He's very chill and will sit and endure it.
@@kimip156Hi @kimip156. I rarely comment, but have a few things to say:
1) it's obvious Rocket is loved and well cared for. As someone who has been a pet parent (mostly cats) for 50+ years, I could tell he was well-groomed but definitely a bit greasy. That alone would require a bath to correct because a simple wipe down usually wouldn't be enough;
2) Vanessa has always shown the utmost care for her clients, which, I'm guessing is one of the reasons you sought her out. So I hope some of the comments on here won't deter you from coming to Vanessa again in the future--or any other groomer--if you feel a groom would be in Rocket's best interest; and,

@@v4v819 I have to agree with the others, to me he is looking scared and panicked and would rather just escape from this situation than fight. If he would be able to, he would just run. On the other hand, that blinks and winks might just be a way to make the "agressor" (the groomer) stop. Like a: "hey, I am not hurting you, please be gentle with me"
He's soooooooo beautiful and sweet! The air snake just scared him.
She grooms all of these animals for free. That is the whole point of her channel.
😂
In case you haven’t heard before Vanessa doesn’t charge for the pets that she grooms.
@@jeffhughes6167That's the joke. 😊
@@therewillbecatswithgwenhwyfar you must be new to (girl with the dogs) channel? Vanessa has said many times in the past that she doesn’t charge for the pets that are in her RUclips videos. Please research this it’s not a joke.
I have 3 kitties and I struggle so much to just wipe them with a damp cloth. Much respect to Vanessa for bathing and drying such a gigantic, volatile stack of hay😂
Volatile stack of hay 😂😂😂
‘Volatile stack of hay’ has got to be one of the best descriptors of a cat that I’ve ever seen…
When you clipped his nails and a motorcycle passed by somewhere outside I first thought its him growling >
Same 😅
🤣
No adult teeth in sight.'
I went 'well, I knew he'd be big from the paws'.
@@redhillbones7672❤
Sister’s Maine Coon kitten appeared the size of any other kitten … 6 mos later, his paw was the width of her wrist !
@@redhillbones7672 I’m glad I’m not alone! From my experience, Maine Coon’s are gentle giants and are smart as a whip!
Rocket has a look on his face that stated Vannesa needs to reflect on her life choices.
😂😂
"Human, I hope you realize you're still alive because of my mercy."
The little meow at 0:01
All the maincoons I have met over the years have an incredible temperment and absolutely love being brushed but it all depends on the owners. Rocket is very quiet for being at the groomers for the first time.
Kudos to both the owner and you Vanessa ❤
Those whiskers are incredible 😊
this is a very sweet kitty who has very much been bathed and cared for. even when the clippers came out and he was watching to see what the heck was happening he didn't stir away.
😅😂
Simba lunges and gulps Vanessa right down!
But Vanessa starts combing his belly so he burps her right out. Grooming continues.
@@ruthbrewer466 Nah. I think Vanessa's tone of voice and pets would calm him right down. He would acquiesce with a mental eyeroll: "if you _must_ ..."
That's so funny because I use to have a cat that was half maine coon and half? But he was gun metal grey, all fluffy and his name was Simba. I miss that cat 😢❤
1:33 *Economy size murder mittens*
I love that white streak on his nose!
13:42 - Also the contemptuous way he lifts his lip to reveal one fang! 😀
That is a friend sized cat. A definite cuddle buddy.
A big ole ball or love if I’ve ever seen one
The way he skipped any aggressive tactics when scared and went straight into a panic attack 😭 bless rocket, hes the sweetest
That was an extraordinary cat. Talk about laid back!!!!! What a beauty as well! Good boy Rocket🐈⬛
Wow, Rocket’s owner is taking wonderful care of him!! Even through that stress he was awesome, kudos to wonderful pet owners❤️
I love your videos and will watch them as long as you post them. I also love your Nana. She is a hoot!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Much love from Kentucky USA ♥️♥️♥️♥️
You not only have encyclopedic knowledge of dog and cat breeds but you also have the patience of a saint. I love watching your videos for your insights into whatever animal breed you are working with but also your love and respect for the animals.
My hat goes off to you, you are so gentle with him,
no extreme measures used. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
His whiskers are so long!!!
Whiskers are cat's measuring tool to know if the place where his head is will be suitable to pass his body. A cat that big requires an inverted umbrella.
They are quite gorgeous! 💖
Yeah, and humans should Never trim them
Came here to say just that! 😸
@@elisemiller13 I trim them all the time but im not human
At the end rocket is such a typical cat. Spends all the time on the talbe trying to get back into the carrier and then when it's time to actually go in there he's like "nah, I never wanted to go kin there"
Rocket certainly lived up to his name when he launched in the rage cage. What a sweet boy. He is a genteel fellow and loud noises will not do. ❤
Most cats are just cats, amazing ones usually but the purebred population is tiny and well controlled
In the cage he was looking at you like: "Why do you hate me?!"
The whiskers on this floof! He is the goodest of cats!
You can tell he is pissed off but he is really well behaved. Rocket just wants to blast off.
One of Vanessa 's many attributes is her musical voice. Soothing and reassuring to most creatures' ears.
Including mine!
@@jeffhughes6167 Mine, too. I spend way too much time on this channel. 😀☺
I love MCs. Ours is MC but a smaller version. They are so clever, lovable, smart, trainable and very loyal. Just want to hug that big boy. He’s a kitty I’d like to keep
He needs a bigger crate. My gosh. His whiskers are glorious. lol. He's beautiful. I love him!
Yeah, I saw those whiskers when he had a happy hoodie on too. Wow he's got a full long set of whiskers and they are gorgeous! I think they add to his expressions wonderfully lol!

Glorious whiskers indeed!😻😻😻
Your comment reminded me of the line from Jaws. I think you're gonna need a bigger boat.
Oh my goodness! Rocket is so cute and looks like such a sweet cat! ❤️
Good heavens, he looks like someone crossed a cougar with a sheep! What a coat! Someone's been taking very good care of him, by the look of it. No matting!? Amazing!
Especially that there were none in his pantaloons or armpits.
Well, when that dryer started blowing on him, Rocket surely lived up to his name. It looks like he was relatively okay with everything except that evil 'flamethrower'.
I loved my Maine Coon cat, he was great to bath, brush, trim claws etc.. he was definitely a lover not a fighter I had him 18 yrs.❤
I felt so bad how scared he was in the dryer❤ He’s such a beautiful sweet baby❤
Rocket is a beautiful cat! I just want to snuggle him. He’s so fluffy!!! ❤
Typical Maine Coon cat fur doesn’t mat very easily. He is a big guy. So handsome !!❤
Rocket is the calmest Maine Coon cat I've ever seen. Props to the owner no mats and he's used to Baths.
Then you dont have seen many main coons. Normaly they are not much bothered by anything and always curious. They are usualy absolutly chill to deal with.
💖 Poor Rocket, his lil face during
his " Blow-drying ".
💫 He is such a pretty, puff ball 🥰!
Vanessa- please dont lose your mind~~~
2 seconds later
rocket- loses his mind.
The combination of 'swat and flip attack' and 'I'm not moving and you can't make me move' make Rocket one of the most cat-cats ever. What a guy!
I don't know, he refused Churu. He might not be an actual cat.
@@melissametivier4 Maine's are an "edge case" when it comes to cats.
I'm impressed with his good manners, knowing he really did not want to be there
He is SO well behaved! What a treasure. So beautiful and so precious. 😊
You are so incredibly aware of the comfort factor for all the furbabies you care for. And Rocket was a good guy. ❤❤
Rocket is such a good kitty 🐈. Very laid back.😊
On next week's episode. "Hey guys, this is Toby. He's a 400Lb lion"
Poor Rocket. The air was sooooo loud. Maybe something much quieter and more diffused like a dryer body blanket or something. .I’m impressed with how good mannered he is. I’d be offended by the rage cage, too.
