  • Is your system running the Ready-to-Go stress pattern at a high idle?
Is your insomnia an expression of the high-idle of stress? This movement is a pandiculation of the Arching Back Pattern, The Landau Reaction, Thomas Hanna's Green-Light Pattern, an exploration of turning down specific stress response tensions.
Remember, do not go into any strain, discomfort or pain while doing these movements.
These are the practice videos for my clients.

This is a powerful movement. Although it is a broad brushstroke that will cover a lot of territory, It doesn't offer as much chance to be gentle with the lesson that you are giving your nervous system on how to settle down the tensions of the back.
In all of this big contraction, look for the places and parts of lines that don't know how to open.
Can you find the places in the ribs where it is hard to sense tension.
One caveat, if you are finding a lot from the neck, I encourge you to re-focus the movement to be back of torso, and back ribs. The neck is just a cantilever that brings the head up, lets have very little effort in the neck, no straining at all. Where does the arching back not know how to relax? Where does the breath not come into the back as you lower down?
Can you lower in a way that settles the nervous system.
Calm the system. That is what this movement is for.
You can go further in looking at the back lines/spaces with these other videos:

Did you find what's the connection with this exercise and better rest? I think it's reducing FHP and opening the chest, though lifting all fours is too aggressive for my already protruding belly and ribs

This is a more powerful intermediate/advanced movement. The pandiculations of the back allow you to turn down the very tensions that are pressing your belly forward and making it protrude.
The process involves taking back voluntary control of muscle tension that has been running involuntarily. In this case, the tension of the back. To take back voluntary control involves voluntarily tightening muscles to over-ride the tension autopilot.
This movement and some of the others use the floor to press forward against, limiting the actual amount of extension of the back.
Some other options for relaxing the diagonals of the back include:

I have restless legs syndrome and Somatics helps with my body. Do you have any suggestions to help calm my legs?

    • @ericcoopersomatics
      @ericcoopersomatics  Год назад +1

That's a good question. When I saw your comment I went back to a movement I hadn't edited yet. I just uploaded it.
I think you can get the idea of what it takes to settle down the legs with this one, it's called Straight Like Spaghetti: ruclips.net/video/rJgy3LtAffY/видео.html
You may find there is some next-day-soreness. That washes away after a day or so.
I may re-record it. When you tighten the legs, look for where the tension is hard to sense. Tighten those quiet places a little bit more. Please let me know if you find it helpful.

More recently, there is this video for the thighs:
      ruclips.net/video/CBhHxl2UVN0/видео.html
But it is important to settle the system down with a big picture view. Relax your back with The Wishbone or The Amplified Angel Wing, or The Back Twist. All of those options are in this playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLFLw4vgr7ayhkhpPSVz3Qu5UiRGZiKUGv
