When Kody divorced Meri who he was legally married to her many years, and legally married Robin, it was all down hill from there.

People have been making the point that Kody says a bad sister wife takes her children away from her husband/their father, when Robyn literally did that. Completely erased their bio dad from the picture. I understand from Robyn’s perspective that he was a bad guy (I’ve hear other sides) but there are two sides to every story, and just Kody’s staunch assertion and gotcha at Christine is so ridiculous.

The fact that Kody left Truely at home to go get Sol and Ari to take them to the same school Truely went to blows my mind. Why not get Truely ready, then Sol and Ari and drive them all in together. Take Truely to Robyn's to eat breakfast with her siblings and bond daily. Take them all to Christine's after school to eat a snack and play before dinner? If it was really about the "young kids" he would do that.

@_.peaches._ I don't understand how that works. They can go to school in the classroom together but can't ride in the car together? Mask the kids if they're so concerned. They are allowed to go to school and we saw them on the bus... I don't see how that's any different. Plus, if Kody is traveling from house to house regularly, then he is spreading all the germs between houses.

Meri has been needing to leave for YEARS and yes it's painful to watch. Christine said she needed to get out because she didn't want to end up like Meri in limbo forever being mistreated. Robyn is evil for wanting her to stay in that place. Robyn wants Meri to be emotionally abused forever.

I think they mentioned that when Robyn came into the family she wanted to celebrate Easter and so Kody rethought his position and said it was okay. The same with earrings. Kody didn't allow the other wives to wear earrings, but Robyn wanted to wear and sell earrings so he changed his mind and allowed it. As for Halloween, I remember Gwen saying something to the effect that they didn't really celebrate Halloween much when she was younger so she thinks the only reason they did it was because they had TLC money, but I also wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't Robyn's influence in that as well. This is why Christine says things got better when Robyn entered the family. Kody's rules were a lot less strict. However, it must suck to see he didn't care about you enough to change for you, but he will for Robyn.

  • @SuperTiffyLynne
    @SuperTiffyLynne 8 месяцев назад +15

I think Kody and Robyn have used the other wives for financial reasons. Robyn is the wife who didn't work outside of the home, yet she lives in a million dollar mansions full of expensive art, furniture and "stuff". Meanwhile, Janelle cashed in her 401k and sold her Vegas home. She gave all those funds to K+R. Now she is living in a tiny apartment with no assets of her own. Also, Meri gave the money from the sale of her Vegas home to K+R. They claim that R+K have Christine the down payment for her Flagstaff home but the money came from the family fund and she paid the family back when her Vegas home sold. When the OG3 left they were not given their share of the family money despite the fact that they were all in an llc to earn the money equally. (TLC money) I don't know how they'll maintain their lifestyle without the other wives.

Thanks for filling in the missing pieces for the majority of viewers who don’t understand how polygamy works! It’s hard for most people, who have no background in this cult, to comprehend why any of these women would stay with Kody. As it is in the LDS church… it’s the eternal religious commitment that keeps many women in bad marriages for far too long. I speak from first hand experience. Watching Kody Brown is like reliving the trauma of being married to my first “eternal husband “ who’s literally a carbon copy of Kody Brown. My husband was also LDS and served a mission. But, he lived like a polygamist having affairs throughout most of our marriage and fathering at least 9 kids with 4 different women… that we know about. It’s probably more and only time and new DNA tests might expose the real number of children he fathered. Today he lives in Cedar City with the woman who was his mistress during the last years of our marriage. He’s buried his past as has the woman he lived with and who literally pretends to be his wife! I’ve also figured out another truth with polygamists. They’re masterful liars. Lol. My ex and his pretend wife have found much success in Cedar City, going so far as to enlist the help of a local polygamist cult to help my ex build a kids sports gym in Cedar City! Yup. He used child labor to build the gym.

What bothers me about all of it is that the whole culture of their religious polygamy is inevitably going to turn the wives against each other in one way or another because they're all vying for affection and resources. When Cody was treating Mary badly it wasn't a deal-breaker for Christine or Janelle. Even when he was treating Christine badly it wasn't a deal-breaker for Janelle. He's been at the very least emotionally neglectful of both of those sets of children and neither of those things was a breaking point until recently and most of those kids are grown. With Janelle being a convert I feel like the belief is stronger in her. Cody wasn't even raised in it I think it was an attempt to get validation from his father.
Truly almost died because there was no medical attention and that's on all of them. Isabel had to wait way too long for a surgery only because Cody didn't want to have to pay for it and then on top of it he couldn't even be bothered to be there.
Robin fake cries and says she wanted this whole big family but if that was true she would have told Cody to get off his butt and go be with Isabel for that surgery that the tenders would be fine. But she didn't because it's not what she wants.
Honestly this show needs to end after this season there are no more sister wives anymore. And I don't think there's really anyone interested in watching Cody and Robin

Kind of unrelated to this episode, but wondering what Sam and Melissa (and everyone else's) opinion is; about what seems to be the emotional, verbal and financial abuse Kody's first three wives have been the recipients of? When Janelle said, "there's been no abuse or neglect" I was really floored. But maybe I'm oversensitive to, or have a different definition of it, since I watched my mom get played by a narcissist for most of my formative years.
For example, him screaming in Janelle's face? Completely ignoring Meri and pretending she didn't exist? Or the "family account" that all the working wives contributed to over the years and either Kody decided how it was spent or the decided "as a committee", where wives would agree with his decisions to demonstrate loyalty or obedience? Aren't these (just three of many more) examples of abuse? Or am I way off base?

Meri’s child Leon (previously Mariah and now identifies as non binary) and Audrey (Leon’s partner and I think is also non binary?) were most likely just starting their transitions around this time. So probably just staying out of the drama to focus on themselves. I can’t remember what state they live in now. They were in Chicago and helped at the B&B some but I think they’ve moved since. Judging from recent pictures from Christine’s wedding it appears that they are both taking T and at least Leon has had top surgery . I've watched from the beginning but have sworn off it several times, only to come back again! It's like a train wreck! It has been so hard watching all of these wives and children slowly destroyed! In my unqualified opinion, I believe they should have all stayed in one dwelling and then would have had to work things out and play nice together. I never understood polygamy in different homes! As bad as Cody is right now, he tried to get them in one dwelling - I won't say anymore so I don't spoil it. Living together is part of being a family. Robin never did live with them, as you know from the first seasons you have watched. I'm SURE producers of the show stir the pot and film the worst drama because that causes the ratings to go up! I do believe that children should NOT be allowed to be on reality TV shows! It's exploitation! Look at the Duggars! There should be a law against making money off your kids!

Melissa - I'm with you in that I'm still watching because I want to see what it is that FINALLY causes Meri and Janelle to leave. If Kody doesn't make up with Janelle's kids, that might be her trigger. Meri, I'm not sure other than she might flat get tired of being ignored. I do still think that both of them still believe in polygamy and that's how they will see their family eternally so I can't imagine how they must feel. Thank you for these videos. I love hearing y'all's take on things!

One thing Robyn will never get from Kody is love. I bet you she has heard it about as much as any of the other wives. The fact Kody values her loyalty over love is probably more than enough reason for her to cry every darn episode. You know what’s sad is she probably has her kids walking on egg shells around Kody constantly in their ear. This misrepresentation that Robyn wants Kody to fight for relationships with his wives is a farce. It’s a storyline for TLC because like meri said when it comes down to it meri is alone and has been alone. Robyn is never inviting her to holidays or outings especially if Kody is around. It’s all fake.

Robyn wants the money and the show. Kody will get a rude awakening when, when the show and money end, so will his marriage. I hope we all get to see that lol. Robyn knows exactly what she's doing. She doesn't want to take care of kids and she doesn't want to work. I believe she manipulated Kody to manipulate Mary to get the divorce. You can tell Mary didn't want to do that. At this point they are all still around just to cut a check. They will milk this cash cow till the end.

The older bio kids have also been out in the world & have found it is a lot different than what they had been taught. I think Robyn's kids have been brainwashed that their bio father was a bad person & that Kody would protect them. Kody wanted to have the spiritual union with Christine because of her connections to the leaders, it is possible that Kody wanted the children for the same reason. Robyn stated at one time that she wanted a man who could support her & her children. not that she wanted to love him. Robyn was promised when she came into the family that the family would support her & her children & she would not have to work. She also said she thought the family was well to do, at which point Meri laughed & said they had fooled her.

Robin just wants the other wives money!!! She has never worked!!! She was the recipient of the million dollar home!!! Meri’s daughter lives in another state. In this most recent episode Christine says whistfully what an AMAZING husband Robyn is getting. Is she???? I don’t remember seeing anything that showed Kody being an amazing husband or dad. I find it interesting that the modern welfare state promotes polygamy through the division of the family. What I mean by that is when women are single mothers, they can collect a welfare check to replace the husband in the home. Then the man is free to move on and have children with other women.

My stbx was all about loyalty, obedience, etc. We weren't raised polygamist, but he decided the Bible doesn't forbid it, and used his version of religion to manipulate me into staying (along with coercive threats). He also decided a husband can’t rape his wife because he owns her body, so that tells you where his mind is at. He thinks he's a prophet and told me, and his second wife, and the woman he wanted to add that he was a prophet and it was God's will to be together.

And women are presented as property in the bible, like being listed with a man's other property in Exodus 20:17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
Virgins are valuable, but are not when they're not virgins, as if that's their worth, and there are verses about paying the father if they take their daughter's virginity, like they have wronged their father by defiling his property.
In Job, he loses all that belongs to him, including his children, as if they don't matter other than being his property. And in the end, his children are given back to him - and they are different children! Like as if the individuals don't matter. All is restored. He's got the same number of kids again. Humans are definitely seen as property in the bible. Tons of slavery, God's totally fine with slavery.
