Plz drop a comment for the algorithm!
    It helps so much!
What are you top 5 metal drummers! I'd be interested to know!
Also what do u guys think maybe I'll react to Thomas Haake for the next 5 videos lol. As I learn Bleed and hear more of his stuff all I want to do is listen to him lol. BUT I could definitly see reacting to Matt garska too. METAL!!

      Top 5 for me are:
      Dave Lombardo
      Tomas Haake
      Elliott Hoffman
Nicko Mcbrain (his single kick game is insane, caught somewhere in time is basically single kick bleed)
Three way tie between Matt Garstka, Mario Duplantier, and Neil Peart
Also we will never ever complain about more Tomas reactions

A top 5 is really hard to choose, because we're blessed to be living in a time with so many absolutely incredible drummers around. So I'm just gonna choose a top 5 based entirely on whose bands I have listened to the most: Tomas Haake, Bryce Butler, Austin Archey, Matt Garstka, Mario Duplantier.
If you haven't heard their work, I strongly recommend checking out Larnell Lewis, Clay Aeschliman and Forrest Rice. All from very different genres but absolutely incredible drummers.

Haruna in the band LOVEBITES and the song When Destinies Align or any of the songs, her cymbal playing is awesome. and Fumiya in the band Unlucky Morpheus / Just pick a song.... He has some just drumvideo as well.

    5. Navene Kopperweis
    4. Sebastian Lanser
    3. Matt Garstka
    2. Spencer Prewett
    1. Marco Minnemann
Honorable mentions go to: Flo Mournier, Hannes Grossman, Darkside, Gene Hoglan, Trym, Nick "Le Fou" Welles, Sean Reinhart, John Longstreth, Lyle Cooper and David Diepold.
I can't include Alex Rudinger in my personal list, but he also deserves a mention; his absence is only because the times he's in projects I enjoy he tends to only be doing live work and hasn't contributed writing drum parts to any albums I personally love, but there's no denying his ability is equal to any of the above mentioned.

If u stay focused through those tough long sessions of learning something that u think is simple, u WILL get better. Consistency is the absolute key. Do some sort of practice everyday (every single day.) it will blow your mind how much better you are in a year, in 5 years (things will reall pick up) and somewhere around 10 it will all be worth it. One day at a time my friend.

As for top five fav drummers I think Haake is on top for me, not only the drumming, but his demeanor (such a nice dude), writing and just over all composure; and in no particular order after that is J.P. Gaster (Clutch, so frigging good), Ben Koller (Converge, Mutoid Man, I think he's kinda unique and funny as F, check out his channels), Michel "Away" Langevin (Voïvod), Dave Lombardo (do I really have to write bands? But it is just his way of delivering thunderous stuff, I mean, check out Grip Inc's "Hostage to Heaven") and the perhaps best drummer of all, Morgan Ågren (just google him). There is *nothing* he can't do and his collab with Fredrik Thordendahl (of Meshuggah) is of the highest level.

I always love seeing a drummer's take on Haake.
Love that you're into it, man.
I'll drop a suggestion or two:
Straight Groove- Do Not Look Down
    Chunk- I am Colossus
    Confusing- Phantoms
Shifting pattern- God He Sees in Mirrors
    Trademark Meshuggah raw groove- Stengah
    Good stuff, man! 👍

By the authority invested in me from being from the same country as him, I can tell you that the "e" in "Haake" is not silent. "Tomas Haak-eh". I don't really care but you English speaking people seem to be very self conscious about saying names right.

If and when you end up checking sometihng for Kai Hahto, I wopuld recommend either Wintersun or Rotten Sound. Nightwish drum cams aren't really showing his full skill. Unfortunately there is not a lot out there from the time he was in Rotten Sound, but Obey is a good one, if not really the best sound quality. Pretty much all the Wintersun stuff is good quality.
The comments have most of the big names, but I would add Baard Kolstad from Leprous in case you're not familiar with him already. The Sky is Red or Nighttime Disguise would be some of the good picks.

Thomas is quoted as saying it took him 6 months to learn to play the drums for "bleed" after he wrote them. If you have it figured out by then, it will be a stamina exercise.
He also says all of their songs are in 4/4, so the entire group is just math nerds, I'm convinced 😆

The two things I like about your cover progress are the two things absent from most other covers. You're doing the ghost notes, and you're aware the foot pattern changes. It makes me lose interest when I see a bleed cover and it's a single pattern.
    You're already winning.
    Reaction was awesome.
I love those switch ups on the snare, that part you like.
Top 5 drummers... My list isn't in any order.
Virgil Donati. Senri Kawaguchi. Frost (Satyricon). Jayson Sherlock (Mortification among others), Ted Kirkpatrick (the late, great drummer of Tourniquet).
And I dunno... Thomas Lang, Zyean (Jiluka), Yuki (Versailles)
More than 5... F. Edit: Ah, it's ok, only 5 were strictly metal. Only saw the question after the reaction.
So, Dave Lombardo, Igor Cavalera, Lars (yes Lars. Not even going to respond to any comment on him. It's more than just the drums there.) and the drummer from a band called Believer (Dimensions album in particular, lots of wild ideas and playing time and subdivision)
I'm probably missing plenty... I hate lists.

    • @yarpyarp85
      @yarpyarp85  3 месяца назад +2

I think I know what u r saying. A lot of what he “Thomas” does sounds so good because he has a really strong internalized quarter note pulse. So when he plays complicated things they always feel accurate. I assume he practice religiously or at least at one time did and when he did he did a lot of work lining things up agents his hi hat foot. Also he has done a substantial amount of ghost note work within that same context. I have a whole system I take my student through to help develop this and I will for sure be doing some lesson videos on it in the future. Stay tuned 🤘🤘🤘🤘☺️
