I'm an owner! Thank you for the great video's. I've bought all my planes from your links. Putting in the AR-637T. One question about the vario: Does the tone come from the plane or from the transmitter?
Thank You Camera-Crew & Brian. Really appreciate the detail and work it takes to compile build, setup & flying. The setup is especially helpful in this build with CROW and the various compensation. Happy New Year.
Our pleasure! We noticed some of our piers didn't even "know" what power was in the telemetry...and I was like, WHY would you use a $130+ Rx then??!??!?!? Anyway, I need to play nice here ;) WHAT AN AMAZING PLANE!
Just getting into the hobby, first plane i bought was the Arrows Trekker based on your review, have not flown it yet. I'm already looking into the ASW 28 from Tower, like to have options depending on the area I fly in. Thanks for the detail setup and radio configuration, going to be extremely helpful once I'm ready to take it on.
Awesome! I did the same thing after a 20 year hiatus, same time last year. So glad I pulled the trigger, the new tech is amazing, you won't regret it. 😁
Another good video by camera person. Good tracking and following of the plane. ABOSULTELY LOVE these videos (both build and flight)!. I own an older ASW28 with plastic body and balsa wings. This model looks more fun (less worried about crashing). I also have the NX8 as well and the AR8360T receiver. Don't need the 8 channels for these birds, but since I have the NX8, it is worth the few$ more to make use it on other planes that need the channels...
That is one sweet plane. I might have to grab one. If you can, try to set up the plane to have some camber when those thermals come back. Makes such a difference. Cheers.

Great video Brian. I have two of the old 2.5M volantex ASW28s. This one seems, should be, more manageable [and easier] on my 65 year old launching arm.☺
Pretty bird. When hand catching this plane hit that throttle cut first. Don't make my mistake. Yes I bumped the throttle reaching out to catch it and chop chop chop. I did not loose tips but it was messy red.. Thx Brian and camera crew.
On that receiver, one of the bells (or is it a whistle?) that seems fairly relevant to a big glider like this, is the "SAFE Failsafe" mode. I configured that on mine, but as far as testing it goes, they just suggest turning off your transmission signal and see if the flight surfaces move to expected positions. I'd be far more convinced that it works and comfortable seeing what it does when it does work if tested in flight. But I don't have the guts to try it on my new toy! Have you ever flight tested that feature, and did it work, and how big is the "gentle circle" it flies in failsafe?
NOT in flight!!!!! Just have a friend hold it out a bit, and from a situation of having given low throttle, power off, and see if the surfaces respond. Have your friend tip the plane and what-not, just be careful NOT to get cut!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Figured there's a reason nobody tries it. My thinking was mostly about where to start looking for it if it ever got away from me. Seems like the default failsafe (Cut throttle/Hold Last) would almost guarantee I'd never see the plane again. (surrounded by mountains, here!) That SAFE Failsafe (AR8360T) option sounds like a much better configuration for potential recovery. I'll stick to the expert's advice though, and just hope she circles and slowly descends if things go south. Thank You!
Up and down. If I overshoot, I adjust right away. Sorry you can't see what's up. Later in the video, you can see how much trim was in it for brief shots, but who cares? I could also just adjust the battery position for a change in CG adjustment, or play with the tailplane to get AOA where I want it, but the issue here is you and so many guys like you don't seem to realize this is a REAL maiden flight. Is there a problem with trimming a plane? Does it mean it's good or bad - the answer is obviously no - it means NOTHING.

Any input on what a good setting would be for this plane, and expo if any. I have not done the maiden yet or gotten a battery to fit comfortably. The book doesn't give any type of rate set up. Any input would be much appreciated.

I was flying sailplanes 40 years ago I didn't have a motor or all the help you have today We launched from a wlnch and had to find thermals or you were back in a few minutes The challenge was to keep it flying I did a 1 hour thermal and a 4 hour slope going for my LSF 4 It doesn't seem to me that there is any challenge today
That may be true in this environment, but for me, I'll take it out and slope it. If I want, I could rubber band the prop, and just have it there to SAVE the plane. I've gotten behind the WASH and had planes sucked into trees and the like, so the prop, even banded down would start in a pinch, so might "idiot" proof the plane a bit...so for me, it'll help ;) BUT YES, there's not a huge challenge, unless you'd like to make it one....and you can - just take off the props!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Just shut off the motor ,I don't think the way you get the plane up to altitude is important I've used hi starts ,winches or stuffed them on the slope it's all about keeping it up even LSF has rules about using a motor limiting it to altitude and time then you have to keep it up for certain length of time and a deadstick landing.
