This is the 911R of this generation, the car that brought manuals back to Porsche's GT car lexicon. It is also now the most alluring package Porsche sells, according to me. Fewer gadgets and gizmos, less weight, less flash, but more involvement than any other modern Porsche on sale. That is also to say, more involvement than almost every modern car on sale today, period.

Agreed! So happy they really focused on the analog vibe. That coupled with the gearbox changes they spoke about. It sounds like just an absolute pleasure to drive. @@Sideways_Singh because as a driver, enthusiast or professional, there is something very special when you get it right. That feeling of "being one" with the car. A bull rider does not get assists, and when they nail their ride you will hear them saying things like "I was just one with the bull"...same holds true here. Rear stearing (in a sports car) is more of an assist (like stability control) than anything else. This is why you will hear enthusiasts or "purists" mention, though it makes you faster...it takes something away from the pleasure of driving. These assists give you a confidence you otherwise should not have. The skill is not on the driver but in the tech/car. Without them, there is a respect. You respect the car, it's power, it's agility, it's ability...like walking up to that bull. It can kill you....but if you get it right (and it's all up to you) the sensation of pleasure is 10 fold. ;) it's why the F40 is so beloved.

It's basically a new 911R. But they're calling it an ST because calling it an R would piss off the collectors. What I'd like to see is a 911 GTS 4.0. Something that is made for the road, has a back seat, and has the sound and pleasure of a 4.0 NA engine and manual Trans for daily commuting.

Wow, this is my new favorite 992 911. I like the subdued and low key looks. The GT3RS NA engine and the lightest 911 title is dope too. The many select tweaks all around the car add up and creates its attraction though. The front fender vents, the magnesium wheels, various light weight parts, interior variety and manual transmission all make this THE 911. I like that it’s not necessarily race focused yet has the GT3RS engine. It’s no doubt more comfortable and less flashy than the GT3RS, yet it’s more road focused than the GT3 Touring. What a slot within the lineup to occupy. A cross between the S and the Touring. That makes sense.
