The one drawback with the McLaren is that it attracts a lot of attention, which can be frustrating at times I recently drove the new Aston and I agree with you in that they made the suspension is too stiff to the point where it feels like a sports car, but it’s not supercar level at all. I feel the Vantages competitors are the AMG GT63, BMW M8, Bentley continental GT
Exactly. I don't think people are cross shopping these cars at all. It seems like these were the cars they were able to get a hold of for the test rather than them being hand picked.
But in keeping the dry sump engine and trans axle layout from the previous amg gt, on paper it definitely has a better drivers car appeal than an amg gt or bentley Continental

I think there can be some cross-shopping involved here, especially as they're all a similar price. If I were a customer with that level of budget to spend on a sporty car, it's up to me as an individual then to decide which are the attributes most important to me... Do I need all-weather daily usability and occasional back seats - go for the Porsche. Do I want the sportiest option, best handling, dynamics and even a convertible without compromising the dynamics - go for the Artura. The thing about the 911 that means it always wins in this kind of company is that people aren’t buying it for a Sunday drive. It’s a car you can rock up to a business meeting in without sheepishly parking it at the back of the car park. Turn up in the McLaren or even the Aston it’s too much. Whatever you’re selling people will think it’s too expensive 😂 for a Sunday machine, you’d then not buy the others you’d go for even more raw.
People don't buy these cars because of their performance, only one out of a thousand drivers would ever use them to their fullest. They buy them for the flash for the drama for making their neighbor jealous and the girls eager. THAT is the reason that the Aston will win 9 out of 10 times.
Nice review !....For me , I'd take the Aston because : 1 ) while I love the Porsche it's mainstream & I prefer Boutique Sports / SuperCars 2 ) the Maclaren leave's me cold 3 ) Aston it is , as I'm a Classic 3 box Coupe man and with 650 horse , that'll do.
im choosing the new Aston over these tbh. drove the turbo s and was a little too laggy and soft for me. So was the Aston I owned but the looks and sound made up for it.
I bet The Porsche will be the most reliable and easiest to live with , it’s stupid fast yet totally useable day to day , that McLaren will undoubtedly breakdown multiple times but I bet it’s the one to make you feel the most special and does look to my eyes , the best , that AM always seems like it’s got itself into a competition with similar merc , like back in the old days AM seemed to be in competition with the Jaguar of the time . The exhaust noise of the AM comes across as trying too hard . Personally I’d one want the McLaren but I’d buy the Porsche out of those 3 cars
Each to their own, but the Porsche feels like really poor value compared to the much more exotic McLaren and Aston, which I could never get bored of looking at.
Great review. The finish order is no surprise. The most shocking part about it is the price of the 911 turbo I just shows how insane Porsche has gotten with their pricing.
I'm guessing the Porsche can seem a bit boring to an automotive journalist, I get that but to an enthusiast that may be getting their first and maybe only dream car, the Porsche checks so many boxes. To me at least, it would be a fresh and fantastic driving experience and probably the best ownership experience. Since we're dreaming fake money, make it an "S" and sign me up.
The Turbo is kinda boring to journos because it is. It offers the most basic unfussed performance experience. It's good but Porsche make cheaper cars that are a lot more thrilling to drive, the Turbo S is a bit of a white elephant, the one you get to flex, not because it offers the most thrilling and fun experience.
The problem these days is you can get another 992 Carrera, T, or S, even GTS and have the same or better an experience for less money. The only thing the Turbo does is go even faster. It was different in the days when the base cars were naturally aspirated. Think of the 996 where you were lucky to get 300 or 320 hp from the Carrera and then the Turbo had 414 or 444 with an option package. That's a massive difference. These days everything is fast so you're paying quite a large sum more for the same experience just dialed up a bit. Modern Porsches are technically brilliant but they don't all give you fizzy sensations. They're just immensely competent. And it's not going to hold a candle to a carbon monocoque supercar like a McLaren in terms of being special.
I'm not an old man, but I can't stand a busy ride. It's not just annoying, it's dangerous and slow. Since I love the look of the Vantage, I'll buy a poster for the office wall, and keep a real McLaren in the garage.
I know the 911 has evolved, but it does look very plain in this company and maybe the removal of the threat of going backwards through a hedge has reduced the excitment too much. I think I might try to live with the Vantage's harsh ride. It is a big improvement on Aston's recent efforts.
Aston has finally found the niche it belongs to, it simply doesn t have to be as sporty as the McLaren or as practical as the Porsche but it s still got the elegance and outstanding design, now a convincing interior and bridges the gap between playful but still really sporty. Otherwise, I agree, the Porsche Turbo isn t really what Porsche is about, the T is a far better representation of the core values but the Vantage really is what you d want a sporty Aston to be like. Great achievement in my book.
I mean the Turbo S is for the handling and what it is capable off a hell of a quick car and can compete with the other two. It clearly doesn't deliver the passion in optics in comparison to the other ones but that was also never Porsches goal. For me personally the Vantage wins in overall it's just a great machine, then Porsche and McLaren.
Interesting that it seems like all "sports" cars with a front engine suffer from that busy ride etc thing. You hear these comments in every review when talking about, the vantage,M cars, Amg gt, previous c63 etc. Looks like they have to stiffen them so much for the engine being in the front and high power that the ride always suffers. Thats the difference between the mid/rear engine stuff and the front engine cars for me.
It doesn't have to be this way but the car weighs estimated something like 3,750 lbs. So yes mid-engined cars can ride better for some inherent reasons, but heavier cars that are meant to be sporty will almost always ride worse than lightweight ones. That's 450 or so pounds heavier than the McLaren. I'd bet a 3000 pound front-mid engined car could be sporty and also made to ride quite a bit better as well.
Just a Fabulous car review. So professional and informative that it puts all the others to shame, although it's very nice to watch and listen to Chris Harris and Ben Collins. You deserve 40 mill subscribers compared to those other clown channels. And a FREE drivers guide from The Legend Mr Steve Sutcliffe for free on top is just Amazing 👏🙏
I think astons should stick to making good old GT cars just like Bentleys. The thing is u can't compete with the all rounder porsche, the mighty Ferrari and the fiery lambos and McLarens. U need to excel what u are best at; which is making beautiful looking luxury GTs not dabble into supercar competition like Rolls Royces
on the contrary, they should expand to have more special sporty versions on sale. I mean, they've been ripping on the GT3/4 scene for past few decades, would be cool to see their experience in a production models. Bentley's are for dudes who's 90+. Lambo has zero heritage whatsoever and make dumb cars. Porsche is boring af. Ferrari does not produce track focused versions neither they produce GT4 cars, only GT3. I mean, it's kinda good market to fill in.
@maximborodyuk3773 Ferrari has heritage and probably the best resale value among cars. Porsche is all rounder supercar for less rich. Lamborghini is fun version of Porsche although Porsche has the Gt3rs and finally as of track focused or similar vibes McLaren's the best bet but they break down a lot too and they are RWD so you need really good driving skills. So Astons should stick to making beautiful luxurious sporty & elegant looking GT cars.
@@God_emperor_Doom >hey are RWD so you need really good driving skills. you could've just said they you don't own a car and don't know shit about em in a shorter way. Lol

Yeah Aston Martin really really stepped it up and made their cars desirable The looks were always there but using that AMG V8 with new bespoke interior they knocked it out of the park I would pick the new vantage over any new coupe sports cars
one common theme is also all 3 of them will depreciate quite a bit, except maybe relatively less on the porsche but it's also certainly the highest depreciating porsche out there. Awesome comparison video
The Porsche has very solid residuals whereas the Aston and McLaren depreciate a lot. The Porsche is the least exciting but it will be the best investment and the most reliable car and most usable in wet conditions. It is a classical case of head vs heart.
@@Fzr005 of course the Turbo S depreciates but nothing compared to the other two. Go and look at the residuals of Aston's and McLaren. The other two drop like a rock.
@@almac9203 On these models there are no residuals greater than 10-20K because they're relatively new. It's gonna be a few more years before we get real numbers.
@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks go and look at the history of the 3 brands and you will have a pretty good idea about their future residuals. Aston Martin and McLaren values drop like rocks whereas Porsche 911 are very solid. Is there anything specific about these models that would cause them to behave outside their established norms? You can always get Aston's and McLaren's with steep discounts on the secondary market.

All I see is The King and it’s Jesters. Only one car will stand the test of time and it’s in a league of its own. There is no substitute!
The McLaren is stunning
Good production quality! So nice to see some slower we’ll thought out automotive journalism. 🤙🏼
Very good test, 3 excellent cars! Fully agree on the best "sports car" being the McLaren, they are true drivers cars!
Great vid thanks - three of my favourite current cars.
Aston , just simply amazing
Nice work. Informative, insightful and entertaining.
Needed to include the Roma to get the definitive decision.
Aston everyday for me , sounds just great :)
Nice to see the diverse lineup.
I'd be up all night trying to decide between the Aston and the Mclaren
Lol
Very surprised by the Aston Martin as well 😎
It all depends on your purpose for the car. That would determine which one to get. But the initial passion for me is what my eyes gaze upon as l am approaching the car. Aston Martin everytime.
Wrong. I own the turbo s. Got it for 200k and the cheapest in the uk market is around 140k. Turbo s depreciates. The GT cars do better
The new Vantage is really the best new AMG you can currently buy!
It's the Aston for me!
I have to say that Aston looks very appealing. However its a niche product in Europe and depreciation will be high on those. Same for Mclaren, amazing but outside UK difficult to justify. I went for the 911.
Great review and comments from both presenters.
i’ve been waiting for this exact comparison!!!
Having driven and owned a few fast cars in my day, I can honestly say, "I have no answer."
My 56 reg Vantage V8 had a crashy ride, shame they still haven't sorted that out, and yes it too important to overlook if you're driving it on a regular basis.
I would have the Aston, but it would be the DB12 volante!
They are all amazing cars it is a matter of preference. I have a vantage on order.
Fantastic vid. The only question unanswered is what if any McLaren foibles popped up during 6 month lest.
It’s a Bentley GTC V* twin turbo for me…..4 wheel drive …a proper GT…and looks beautiful.
I'm not in the market for one of these in the next 5 years but the video makes me think which one I would prefer.
Any one of them please just leave me the keys..
Daily porshue
Arthur for fun
Aston to let everyone know u have achieved your ambition.
Ummmmm go on the aston please..
Epic content guys your nailing it week on week. Thanks for all your hard work 😎
AM have really upped their game. Awesome review and film, well done team 👍🏼
Aston is a classy dragster love it , McLaren is a scalpel love it , 911 is a very fast shopping car after these beauty ❤ I'd probably have the Aston Martin though so classy ❤
Best car channel out there at the moment. Kudos!
Another factor is which will depreciate quickest?
Surely a factor to consider when buying a car of this value
Not if you can afford one of these in the first place
@@jase6370disagree, I can afford one but doesn’t mean I don’t want to lose loads of money….
I factor in depreciation so I can afford to keep purchasing nice cars
Oh yes its the Aston for me.
Would have them alll
❤❤❤❤❤
My favs
would go gt3 rs
Good to see older guy in review more people can relate
Great comparison
Well done, best bit is 2 of the 3 are built in the UK
Great video, really enjoyed it thank you.
Aston all day pure class
Amazing video from one ships engineer to another. Your younger years sound familiar...what a jorney you have been on
Aston is really on the rolle lately, but I love new Porsche GTS ❤❤❤
The more I see of the new Vantage the more I like it. Hopefully the ride would be liveable with as that's the only downside I can see.
Best looking vehicle by a country mile is the AM plus has a bullet proof AMG engine. McLaren looks stylish and classy, so sleek looking. The Porsche so reliable, the dependable car with mind blowing speed. I totally agree with your choice but would never turn down any of them. The Brits are definitely moving onwards and upwards…… fabulous presentation …..
Love that 911’s spec. Black interior on an Aston always seems like a missed opportunity.
Aston looks the best
The fact that he said the Turbo S is a numb, blunt device, is more of a sledgehammer than a scalpel. 😳
Old fashion twin-Turbo. … didn’t expect to hear that today.
It would be the Aston Martin for me all day. I've always had a bit of a love affair with Astons. I hope I can afford one some day.
Brilliant video. I'd take the Aston hands down
Up and down the bwlch mountain all day in 3 amazing cars…..perfect day 👌
Guys its 2024, 1080p RUclips uploads look terrible, they are insanely compressed. Please upload at 4k
You literally won't be able to tell 1080p 60fps from 1440p let alone 4k footages for most of the times, especially if you don't have a monitor up front..
You can’t even tell…
@@DouEditz you're blind
@@Anti-FreedomD.P.R.ofSouthKorea absolute nonsense. youtube compresses the hell out of 1080p uploads, it uses a different codec to 4k uploads, so even if you had a 1080p source and uploaded it at 1440p and 4k it would be a lot less compressed as the bitrate it so much higher. in fast paced scenes these videos look like complete garbage for 2024. get some higher standards old man
For a daily use car with superb after sale price I doubt if the 911 922 can be beaten
Beautiful aston 😊
Agreed 👍
Amazing video!
Aston is gorgeous - but sorry the 911 with a custom exhaust and straight pipes; incredible!
I Choose Between Porsche and Aston Martin
