My college roommate in 2013 who always looked effortlessly cool constantly wore the tightest black skinny jeans + white tshirt + moto boots + oversized jacket, and tbh I still think that’s a winning combo.
Yessss honestly the indie sleaze skinny jean styling was such a moment. I would love to see that come back :)

I’m feeling uneasy about the comeback of silhouettes like skinny jeans not because they remind me of the “cringe 2010’s” (all fashion eras can be considered cringe in retrospective) but because to me it’s part of a bigger comeback of thin bodies, “natural” perfect beauty and overall supermodel-esque 90s-00s vibes. Think about the way skincare has taken over makeup and how the bodypositive movement is declining while we measure our face symmetry and talk about “girl pretty” vs “guy pretty”. It feels to be like a lot of these new trends are only wearable if you’re thin and beautiful to start with -for the bayonetta glasses, for instance, is very easy to go from Giselle Bündchen secretary-core to weird fashion choice depending on how you’re perceived.
Don’t get me wrong, most of the trends are really cute and wearable -colorful thights are pretty democratic-, but I’m worried about the ED mentality making a comeback along these aesthetics

I think you’re absolutely right. This is so often the caveat of fashion and clothing, as styles are first presented to the public on models with a very specific and often extremely slim body type. And I have definitely seen things move backwards more recently in terms of the progression away from the 90s-00s model beauty standard, unfortunately right back to it.
But with that being said, I’m also a big believer that fashion isn’t specific to one body type, and that different silhouettes can be styled in ways that uplift and flatter all bodies. Especially now, as I think creative fashion is more accessible to the masses than ever. Myself and this channel are here to encourage everyone to participate in styles that they love.

so right, i was having the same thoughts. i'm hoping skinny jeans get rebranded in therms of the people wearing them since we had some suuuper slim models and icons wearing them in the 10's. hopefully now our beauty standards have become more inclusive and we can appreciate the clothing rather than criticizing the body beneath it. i think it would be helpful if we could rename them as the term "skinny jean" says so much about the stigma and expectations surrounding them. your perspective is so refreshing though, this was really cool to read xx
Most men, almost all, never morphed their sense of attraction to the body positivity trend. Eating Disorders are bad, but being skinny or in shape is not unhealthy hence why men find it attractive.
to simplify; fat was never pretty. (That goes for men too, and we are much more unforgiving towards men)
this is very out of topic, but i love the setting of your shot. it’s very homey, comfy. not too bright and not in high contrast. the colors are in perfect value to evoke comfort and nostalgic vibe. i love it

Please make this a yearly thing it’s so fun! It’s so nice to see “tumblr era” stuff come back in a more fashionable way. The hair accessory trend reminds me soooo much of when lady Gaga did the actual-hair bows and everyone was doing tutorials on RUclips, simpler times
honestly idk about skinny jeans, i feel like throughout these years they have never disappeared from regular people's wardrobes even if they stopped getting recommended by fashion influencers, whenever i leave the house there are plenty of women still wearing them.

I think you’re definitely right about the skinny jeans ! Especially with flare, boot cut, and low rise jeans being super popular right now I feel like we’ll slowly transition into the skinny jeans.
Exactly my thoughts!! It’s been slowly coming back for a while, I think this is the year for it
adding onto the charms and trinkets on shoes and bags, i truly think charms are going to become a huge market soon for all types of accessories. i think a large company will drop a line of charms marketed towards a few items then retailers will start selling more to the point everyone has little charms on most everything they own. phone cases, fashion accessories, appliances etc. it fits the millennial “miniature items” trend and y2k charm trend.
Yes I already made myself a phone charm and have tons of bag accessories I hope maximalism comes back in the form of quirky trinkets etc
I think the utility belts is an interesting prediction as we step away from cargo pants and are entering office core. I could definitely see miu miu putting utility belts in their next collection

The glasses really do gel so well with your whole outfit!! The width of the frames echoes the straight across off the shoulder neckline of your top and also the fun outward flip of your hair and it all looks so good together.

I was the one in school who was never afraid to be myself and experiment with fashion! Loved myself a good lace glove with pearls growing up 🥰 got bullied for it but I didn’t care I knew it was a look! Nailed it with these I think!! Skinny jeans were always gonna come back eventually (as much as us gen Zs don’t want it to) and I think that for the near future, it will still keep in mind the bootcut silhouette that’s in right now. I don’t think it’s gonna be high waisted skinny jeans and sneakers like it was in 2014, I reckon low cut, with chunky boots, leg warmers, and bootcut flares will keep the bottom heavy silhouette with us, at least for now :) Im fearing that in 5 years we’ll be back to full 2010s revival skinny jeans though 😭

I would like to start a conversation about the modest fashion industry being popularized by Muslim women ❤️ it seems that as more trends like long sleeve shirts and ankle length dresses come into style, people tend to ignore the modest fashion industry.
Also, I do not believe trends are a bad thing at all. I think that there is an overconsumption of clothing and that is where the problem lies. As humans, our interests are not linear, we change and grow and our clothing will always reflect that.

Love this video! You know what's interesting? I moved back to Canada in Oct 2023, from living in South Korea for a year, and most of these predictions you had are styles I already saw there in 2022. Especially the stockings and bags style. Asia is always a few years ahead of North America in terms of fashion styles and comebacks in my observation (I assumed you're from the U.S.?). Also, same with Japan! I have friends living there and I've noticed the same

I couldn’t agree more, and it’s actually crazy you say this because I JUST got back from a month long trip where I stayed in Seoul and Tokyo, and the street style was so advanced and I saw so much incredible styling on the street that I was already imagining in NA. Asia is absolutely ahead of the game and so many innovative fashion trends start there and then trickle into North America without the right credit.

Skinny jean hate is so unnecessary sometimes. I think that skinny jeans can look soo good if styled right with like a nice pair of high boots and a good top or maybe even with a fur coat, they can look so chic and cute. Certain kinds of skinny jeans though like not in the way they were in the 2010s as stated in the video. That's just my opinion

I heavily agree with skinny/ straight leg jeans returning. Though it’ll look more like the initial 2010’s runway look ie black, dark experimental look than what the public take on skinny jeans looked like ie plain blue jeans. I was never a fan of plain blue skinny jeans look. I’m glad stockings is returning again, it was just 2-3 years ago those blue stockings were trending

The great thing about fur coming back is that you kind of can only buy it second hand (at least in the EU, bc selling new fur isn’t possible legally) and folks who had these immaculate fur pieces got rid of them for very little money bc no one would buy them so…. This means vintage stores etc., are selling fur coats and fur pieces for very VERY little money. Considering a fur coat cost hundreds thirty years ago (so thousands today), you can get some for like 70-200€/$. It’s amazing. But gotta move fast before prices rise again with an uptick in demand and trends.
