i don't think a-line/shift/drop-waist dresses are at all unflattering tbh. they elongate the body in a really nice way and have a very clean silhouette. its a nice change to the hourglass body shape we've been so hyperfixated on as a culture for a while, which has never been that realistic for most people anyway
I agree! it all just depends on your body shape. If someone with a very long torso does this it may seem extreme. But it would look really good on proportionate or long leg people.
sometimes I wonder how much these videos become a self-fulfilling prophecy!! laini, you have such a good intuition and eye when it comes to fashion and us “fashion girlies” really trust you and can see the vision, so maybe we give these trends more momentum since we’re willing to try them and have already seen them because of your videos. you know? i think that’s really cool.
My theory about the quarter length sleeves is that they make your torso seem longer. Elbows normally align with your natural waist, so creating a line mid-forearm mimics the elbow, subconsciously drawing the waist downward too. Same idea with other trends we’re seeing like drop waist, low rise, etc. We’re entering a long torso vibe era and as a short-waisted girlie, I’m so here for it.
I’d be thrilled if there was a comeback of quarter length sleeved, cropped, a-line wool coats. It’s been FOREVER since we’ve seen those anywhere but our Grandmother’s closets and those are just so freaking elegant and make you instantly seem timelessly stylish and elegant. That style paired with the oversized glasses ….. *chef’s kiss*. I, likewise, just cannot carry the small tiny glasses. My head and facial features are just too much for that. Thankfully you can almost always find a pair of big framed glasses at a thrift store. I love a good a-line baby doll kind of dress. I think they’re universally flattering. Some people might scream in horror over that notion, but I really do think anyone can style them in some way to suit them. When peplums are in vogue, I tend to pull out my drop waisted a line’s because they’re in the same vein as one another but the drop waisted or the empire waisted a lines suit my short torso much better than a true peplum. Endlessly versatile. I wore a short a line dress to my prom back in the 90’s when literally every other girl went for the custom made full on satin gown (Caroline Bessette-Kennedy’s satin/silk shift dress inspired a lot of the designs back then). I paired it with a pair of brightly coloured tights that had a sheen that nodded at the satin craze. Still love that dress 😃
i loved reading the vivid description of your clothes, especially the prom dress!! I love 90s fashion even though im a 01 kid, so it's always super cool to hear what others wore back then 🥹🥹🥹
@@tonyhawksmovingcastle9697 the 90’s were weird to live through. It was like the bright lights from the 80’s were suddenly turned off and the world got a lot more cynical and darker. There was still some pretty crazy fashion going on. The psychedelic side of the 70’s really made a comeback and hip hop emerged from the fringes and went full mainstream. Contrasted against that was the very restrained minimalism of style icon Caroline Bessette-Kennedy, designers Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Jil Sander, Prada …. Then add in the anti fashion aesthetic of grunge … ya, it was an interesting time. Gotta say, the 90’s, IMO, were the absolute best time for jeans. The cuts were amazing. The colour was perfect. And Doc Martens were still all made in England and were the “real deal”. It was still the norm rather than the exception to have clothes made of natural fibres. I don’t think I had one pair of shoes, sneakers included, that weren’t made of leather except for my converse and my Teva’s. And they didn’t cost the world. By the 2000’s, that all changed rapidly. It makes me very happy to see the return of the ideal that clothes should be well made of natural fibres and made to last. We didn’t have “fast fashion”, really. Even Old Navy, when it showed up at the mall, was mostly all natural fibre materials. Can you imagine? Lol …
It's so funny, that a lot of us went through those trends before. Sometimes I can't bring myself to wear something again that I rocked, when I was 15 😅
YES to the leggings under skirts! I talked about this a year ago! I also foresee the long cami tanks under crop tops. Full throttle 2000s Disney runway vibe. Im here for it
Me, the young millenial, feeling so scorched at the end there 🙃 But def aggree on the leggings. Even *gasp* stirrup leggings. And all the 60s influences are very interesting to see popping up .... kind of out of nowhere? But it's a fun fashion time, so no complaints
When I was in middle school/early high school the tops I loved were almost always a quarter sleeve length, I even wore them under a coat in winter. lol Now I find them a bit unpractical, like they’re cute but they’re either too cold or too warm for me to wear… I feel the same way about long sleeve off the shoulder tops and on shoulder tops.
I've had a side part since middle school (2011) 😂 I always thought I looked bad with a middle part which is why I did a side part, but now I like myself with either 😊 the millenials vs gen z thing about how to part your hair was so ridiculous 😂
You should look into Laufey's fashion. She does a decent bit of a-line dresses, big collars (like peter pan), and a plethora of colorful shoes (mary janes, ballet flats, low profile sneakers). I can definitely see her style trending a bit with her recent popularity in music.
i love these trend predictions! they´re so fun! random site note: i love your hair but you would look so cute with like a short pixie - like taylor russell! it would look so cute and chic on you - you have the perfect face for it...me thinks
plus she always slicks her hair back and always looks so cute!! if she were to cut it, she would remind me of rosemarys baby, her hair cut was so chic!
Can you make a video with a feature with someone who as completely a different style from you and talk about trends. Share your thoughts Similarities, differences,…
i love quarter length sleeves !! and i think the idea of mini dresses (especially maybe the white empire waist ones you mentioned) + capri length leggings could pair so well ! i've been looking for one of those leggings since summer since i have a similar looking dress that is a bit short for me
This is so useful! Thank you! I’m gonna wear an A-line shift with leggings tomorrow and love it. First time watcher. New subscriber! (Your eyes are so pretty!) ✨
totally agree with the side part -when I don't style or tie my hair I wear it in the middle but I love wearing side part when it's styled. It also helps me balance my uneven face
I just imagine someone watching this video with the sound off and switching from photos of fashion girlies and Bella Hadid to Farquad and Jacob, thinking, “They’re in”
“Very unflattering” I feel like that is very much subjective, and understandable for those who dont actually suit the clothing type, because yeah clothes do have to fit you properly. So ig unflattering if you 1. Dont like what it’s exaggerating, the sillhouette it creates, and 2. If it literally isnt for you. 20’s and 60’s type of clothes were for flat lanky people, and so it suits those people perfectly, because it’s kinda indirectly tailored for them. Find a trendy thing you like, or create your own trend. You dont have to wear an “unflattering” garment because its’s trendy, and you certainly dont have to change your opinion on liking or disliking things because theyre trending either. Dear Laini, I hope you find your style because gurrrrl youre all over the place. If you dont, watch you hate this in 5 years, mah garsh. :3
re; drop waist... I've been screaming 20s does 20s since 2020 and i'm thrilled to watch it finally starting to happen in the last year! Sure it's also 60s, but in the 60s it was 20s 🧠
Drop waist is all about proportions and it's cousin the pointed basque a style you see in 50s wedding dresses think elizabeth Taylor's first wedding to the Hilton guy. Really give the elongating effect that the drop waist is normally going for
Your videos truly make me feel so inspired like by the middle of it I’m already on Pinterest curating new outfits and aesthetics for myself I love it love you!! ♥️♥️
Leggings under the knees are capris. In the 90’s they also have them in jeans, that’ll most likely be coming back too. I bought capris on Amazon to go under my sheer skirts, couldn’t find any thrifting.
Hi I liked the leggins trend. I need some advice. Do you think I can pair a knitted dress with long jacket? I am a short person. What do you think I should combine a dark chocolate bag with?
Oof the 60s silhouettes are not good news for me. How am I meant to fit g cups into a dress that wasn’t made to accommodate curves 😂 I have trouble even with the more curvy focused styles that we’ve had for ages
you're so spot on! over the summer I saw quite a few late teens/early 20 girls wearing skirts over leggings that cut off around the knees/or thighs! (I live in NJ but like 20 mins outside of NYC).
i don't think a-line/shift/drop-waist dresses are at all unflattering tbh. they elongate the body in a really nice way and have a very clean silhouette. its a nice change to the hourglass body shape we've been so hyperfixated on as a culture for a while, which has never been that realistic for most people anyway

@@milanaomoit's genetics for me I'm glad because I don't want a bbl 😂
i think she means it’s not flattering in the sense that it doesn’t accentuate the hourglass figure
this is the age of shapeless clothing and i'm here for it
Side Part looking Cool!!!
Great video, Great presentation!!
👊😏👍
wait I kinda see the opposite- like not tight, but structured clothing!
The shape is triangle
As a Kibbe dramatic classic thay NEEDS waist emphasis and more tailored body contoured looks, I'm not here for it.
I work my Butt off to look good, not going to hide my muscles and tight skin, for saggy and Baggie😮

60's/ a line dresses have always been my favourite. I'm excited to see if others will start appreciating the style this year!
I have a feeling that polka dots are going to be the new gingham in 2024
YES to the leggings under skirts! I talked about this a year ago! I also foresee the long cami tanks under crop tops. Full throttle 2000s Disney runway vibe. Im here for it
this has defintely been in for a couple years already in the uk
Definitely more 60’s/70’s mod inspo I keep seeing that especially since the Priscilla movie
I agree with the side part because the aggressive middle part slicked bun starts to make bald spots for those who do it to often
Me, the young millenial, feeling so scorched at the end there 🙃
But def aggree on the leggings. Even *gasp* stirrup leggings. And all the 60s influences are very interesting to see popping up .... kind of out of nowhere? But it's a fun fashion time, so no complaints
i’m still too scarred for some of these trends, especially the leggings 🥲😆 love your vids
as someone who’s had an aggressive side part since 2020, u should totally embrace it and go full sidepart, it’d look so cute on u!
Im happy about the revival of the large sunglasses. I, too am part of the large forehead community. The mid to larger glasses just look better on me.

Your teeth are so white, do you use something special 😅 except washing your teeth 😂
Americans always have the fake ass white teeth.
jumping off from the side part: SIDE BRAID. i think we are going to see return of the side braid in 2024
OMG UR RIGHT

They’ve quickly become one of my favs!!!! Haven’t tried anything I don’t completely love
Good news form me, my grandma sew me a few of A line capes some years ago
I dislike most of these trends but I’m going to be doing a no buy year so it doesn’t matter anyway
So excited for this video, you’re my favorite!🫶💙
that ruching on the drop waist dress is very bubble skirt adjacent. been seeing that sneaking it’s way back.

Anybody else have a short af torso 😭 the curse of cute 2000s trends is all the tops are impossibly long and just don’t fit right
"Girlie is gender neutral" AMEN
loved how realistic this vid was❣️alsooo I got bangs ahhhh
I've been waiting for this one. turn it up!
The a-line shift dresses and drop waists are making my curvy hips weep 🥲
As someone with a squarish round face, I am so excited to see a side part coming back. Also, 3/4 sleeves are so flattering
Can you please do a skincare, makeup video? Just like your favorite products?
Those are 3/4 length sleeves.
I am so here for the A line cuts and the big big sunnies I am here for because smaller glasses are not for me.
ugh I JUST started to embrace the middle part
So great to see leggings come back…comfier than tights all the time lol
3/4 length sleeve?
i love quarter length sleeves !! and i think the idea of mini dresses (especially maybe the white empire waist ones you mentioned) + capri length leggings could pair so well ! i've been looking for one of those leggings since summer since i have a similar looking dress that is a bit short for me

I desperately wish I could pull off the big glasses but I just can’t 😭 they consume my tiny tiny face
Nice video & nice presentation!!

Tiny sunglasses are impractical and ugly, I’m very happy to hear that big sunglasses will be in style.
No leggings. Those are horrendous on me. Im very thin and they show off the pelvis so just no.
I love those style of coats so much!!!! and the drop waist is so cuteeee too :D
any ideas for where to get a really flattering quarter length square neck top ?
what do you think about adidas superstars? are they coming back?
Those are NOT “quarter length sleeves”. They are 3/4 length sleeves.
The baggy boxy cuts are not for every body type. I choose what suits me best.
hey laini, what lipstick are you wearing in the video? its so pretty
Happy weekend, Laini!❤
Omg great i recently bought some big sunglasses on holiday
you really remind me oif brittany murphy for some reason. so cute

I love big sunglasses. I was thinking about getting a pair in a fun colour like yellow or green.
*Three quarter length sleeve
definitely agree with these predictions!!
omg I had the same guessing about the leggings and the low waist, I also think we will see boleros popular again.
What do women wish to see more in men's fashion? Any suggestions for a guy like myself
the side part is coming back with so much force, im seeing it everywhere!!!
Oh my gosh, the leggings under the skirt!! Honestly I’m here for it, same with the a-line/drop waist shirts and dresses!!
yayyyyy
Noooooo side part please.
thats crazy bc i started doing the sidepart this year and it makes me look like a pretty girly.
love that you got an elwood sponser! i have been wanting to try their stuff

I don't always like the same things you do but I always find your style interesting and a bit different and I really appreciate that :)
Thank you for this I love thrift shops
