I liked this cutscene.. Showing that even Megatron have feelings, and sympathy, he felt pain seeing his brothers dying, without having any otehr way to save his peoples.
Honestly Megateon did not want to do this, truly he did not. But what choice did he have? The sector could not pull its weight anymore, the planet is dying, they need the resources if their race is to have any chance. If he does nothing everybody dies and to Megatron's knowledge at this point there is no hope for Cybertron, the allspark is gone, Prime is gone, the planet is dead, they have to escape.
That makes you think what Optimus did, if Megatron had done it he would have been left as a psychopathic monster with the desire to win at all costs regardless of the sacrifice without caring about anyone else, but Optimus did it, destroying his own planet but for his reasons it remains as "good", which shows Optimus and Megatron alike are capable of horrible things for this war

I like to think Shockwave has been secretly manipulating Megatron for years, allowing Megatron to think he can control him while quietly operating his own agenda
That was sad. They were so happy to see him and so proud of Megatron. They were proud of their sector too even tho only 3 of them were able to function and do the work.
Why I don't consider Siege Megatron sympathetic: he only regrets sacrificing these people because they sung his praises, fawned over Megs whilst reaffirming their loyalty, thus stroking his ego. Reimagine this scenario playing out if they'd approached him bitter, scornful. Actually going so far as to curse Megs to his face. It would've resulted in Megatron's perception of them being coloured far differently. Probably wouldn't have felt so torn up about this. See, for all this show's attempts to portray Megatron as this tragic fallen hero, it falls flat because, in reality, he's a narcissistic control freak pursuing his own personal glory. Matrix hallucination in Kingdom confirmed that.
The Decepticons stationed there are surviving off of the bare necessities,once Megatron ordered Sector 12 be shut down they instantly knew it was only a matter of time till they'd starve away and die with no energon being supplied to them.

I saw that megatron hesitated to give shockwave the order since the Decepticons were in pain
They reminded Megatron of his past. Being forced to slave away & work in hazardous conditions.
Prime reason he rose up to fight such conditions.
I love how terrifying Shockwave is here, shows no sympathy or care. I love that they went with one of my favorite iterations of him

Optimus literally had NO hand in destroying the core. On the contrary, he saved it if we are to go by the war for cybertron games timeline
