The pain of Megatron doing this is highly relatable. Last year, I had a big ass collection of Generations Decepticons but when funds became a problem; I'd have to sell most of them just to have money to get by. It was hell
The pain and disgust in Megatron's facial expressions and voice is heart breaking, say what you will about the show but Megatron's voice actor was amazing and that with the actually good writing for Megatron made him easily the best part of every scene he was in. Starscream was also amazing.
While this was a cruel act, it was one of the only means available to collect Energon. You cannot say "There's a better way" because the better ways have already been attempted and failed. Megatron didn't want to kill his own men and women, you could tell by the sadness in his voice that he hated this. After Megatron stated very clearly "This is the horror forced upon me by your noble leader." If Megatron really enjoyed killing his troops, he would have said something along the lines of "They're merely my troops, cattle to me, I can do whatever I want with them." I'm probably taking this a bit too seriously, but I just want to point out that Megatron isn't being given much choice to begin with.
Bullshit! You don't sacrifice your own troops against their will! Anyone who says otherwise is a coward and a traitor! He betrayed every Decepticon who believed in him with this act!
@@simgobel Megatron didn't start out oppressing Cybertron and that was never the original goal. It was initially a Civil War for freedom but over the millions of years it devolved into what we see. I don't excuse the energon harvesting though.

Nobody else can do Megatron right except Frank Welker, nobody else can sound the way he's supposed to and the evil Megatron laugh he does is priceless.

Are you gonna choke on Frank Welker's glizzy when you meet him or nah? No disrespect to his voice acting career but he literally makes Megatron sound like he's got cybertronian throat cancer.
Megatron: *"I'M NOT THE ONE DOING THIS!* This is the horror forced upon me, *by your noble leader."* 👿 Megatron may be evil, but he does actually have a point. He never wanted to kill his own people, especially not the Decepticons he found in Sector 12 because they reminded him of the pain and suffering that he went through himself when he was a slave and then a gladiator. He wanted a better life for them, but because Prime got rid of The Allspark, *Megatron was left with no choice but to harvest his own troops.*
JobbyTheHong mentioned that Megatron-while a heartless war tyrant-still had some sort of humanity left in him. Such as when hesitant to use crueler interrogation methods on his bro, Ultra Magnus.
I like when they humanize Megatron. He’s not a mindless cartoon villain. He believes in his goals and even doubts himself. You could tell he hated having to make that call, sacrificing those that put their faith in him. He spoke to that on Con and saw the state they were in because of the war. But he had no other choice. Without the Allspark, there was no hope of Energon ever returning. Its scarcity was caused by its overuse. If not used for millions of years of war, the supply wouldn’t have run out. The Allspark provides. It is the lifeblood needed for Sparks. But, Megatron could have prevented this. His all-or-nothing mentality led to this. Optimus was his friend, Magnus was his friend. When the war had reached its peak, they could have worked out a peaceful solution to save their own lives. Megatron would have to abandon his ideology of “Peaceful Tyranny” or at least compromise to end the war. But he couldn’t be the king of Cybertron and he refused to accept that. You could argue Optimus was just as stubborn, but you cannot compromise on Freedom when the alternative is tyranny. As Patrick Henry once said, “Give me Liberty, or give me death.” And as Liberty Prime once said, “Death is a preferable alternative to Communism.” A joke but the origins of the Decepticons is strongly akin to Marxist ideology.
I agreed with everything you said, but you do realize that Liberty Prime is a satirical exaggerated critique of American anti-Communist sentiments/MacArthyism right?
This series is called Earthrise. And they only actually end up on Earth at the literal last few seconds of the last episode. Along with that is not even modern day Earth where they could have gotten their vehicle forms, it’s prehistoric Earth, so the title ‘Earthrise’ just seems pointless.

@@Ecl1ps0_ Both of those Starscream incarnations had betrayed him, and tried to kill him. A lot of people complain about the Netflix Transformers series as being bad and full characters that don’t even feel like the characters of before, but I think that’s the point. A lot of people say that they want a nostalgic run of old times, while also wanting something new and refreshing for a series. I think that’s what the writers of this series tried to do, even if people didn’t exactly like it. I like the plot of the storyline and how they made the characters, because they made the setting of the war a lot more grim and realistic, and the characters feel alot more believable, like Megatron and Optimus. Megatron is still a destructive tyrant, but he truly did want what was best for his people and only went as far as other Megatrons do because he wasn’t given a choice. He isn’t happy about the choices he’s made either. Optimus is still the kind leader we know, but he’s alot more unsure of himself and if he’s truly doing what is right for his people and for Cybertron. He’s the leader that has to make the decisions no one else will because Megatron is STILL a tyrant and WILL kill his people on sight. I don’t like the voice acting and it took a little getting used to actually feeling for these characters, but I like it. Honestly it’s not about how good or bad the story is, it’s just about getting it out there. Essay done, to those that actually read this.
