The warranty is as worthless as the paper it's written on. I rebuilt my C16 cat with a well known repair shop that was licensed to work on Cats and warranty the work. $38,000 later and 8 months it went to hell in a hand basket. The repair shop and Cat went back and forth and before they denied the my claim. So I bit the bullet and took to a offshore marine shop and dropped $42,000 into it and never had any issues with it for the next 4 years until I sold it.

"A wastegate that is stuck closed cannot “dump" excessive manifold pressure generated by a turbocharger, and can cause an overboost condition. This can be detrimental to various engine components, especially if detonation occurs."
Its exactly how it works. That vacuum cylinder opens to dump extra boost pressure. The turbo he showed has a internal wastegate vacuum controlled.

Yes warranty is a joke it is why if you are leasing or owning you should set a maintence account starting at .20 cents a mile and then after you get the intial amount set up for most repairs you can start lowering it down until you hit around 5 cents is as low as you want to go and at the end of the year you can put a portion of the money into your savings account or pay bonuses to your drivers .

You should ad trans gauge and a turbo gauge also a cool down timer to the ford truck you are giving away

Might as well upgrade it Tim. If you have a worthless engine warranty, then you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

My first truck was a 2017 W900 with an MX13. Truck had a factory extended warranty on engine, transmission and emissions system for five years or 500k miles. Over the course of roughly two years of owning that truck it had two emissions failures putting the truck into limp mode, once for the DEF sending unit which required it to be towed and once for the DPF pressure sensor. Both times took it to Truck Enterprises in Richmond, VA and both times had the warranty denied and had to pay full price. After being charged almost $800 to repair the wiring for the pressure sensor, I sold the truck and bought a 379. I will never deal with the warranty scam again.

the Detroit warranty is a bummer but thats pretty much the standard with anything out there, if its not dealer installed there will be more hoops to jump through, and even then your going to have to take it to an authorized warranty dealer for repairs so warranty processes can be followed and filed at the time of the repairs, even if you did the install you will have to take it to a authorised warranty facility I've been through this with many customers and they just assume because it has warranty they can do the repairs and just get the parts and labor reimbursed directly to them, the best case is going to a dealership you have a relationship with and they will in turn be able to contact their warranty rep. and get assistance on getting the claim pushed through, even just getting a parts warranty your most likely going to have to take the warranty part to a dealer and pay for the new part, have them submit the old part for a warranty inquiry they will inspect it and make a warranty determination, if its warranty they will issue the cost of the replacement part. in short without dealer involvement your rolling the dice and probably going to roll snake eyes,

Hi Tim you know if you had taken it to the Detroit shop they would have taken a very long time to fix it, they would find other things they say was bad with nothing being covered under the warranty would have cost you way more than you fixing it yourself and your truck is back to work. I liked the mechanical diesel engines over the electrical engines any day the mechanical engine was so much easier to work on. Hi Braxton not sure what the temp is in California my brother told me it was over 102 in Houston TX the other day.
