Bruce Nolan's (Jim Carrey) career in TV has been stalled for a while, and when he's passed over for a coveted anchorman position, he loses it, complaining that God is treating him poorly. Soon after, God (Morgan Freeman) actually contacts Bruce and offers him all of his powers if he thinks he can do a better job. Bruce accepts and goes on a spree, using his new-found abilities for selfish, personal use until he realizes that the prayers of the world are going unanswered.

Morgan Freeman as God is the most perfect role ever. He has that voice that can make the phone book sound epic. He's a great actor, has a great smile, and is fun. Jim Carrey is just gold.
In an episode of "Inside the Actors Studio", Freeman said that he saw the God role coming. lol
za lotta plot armor but the best concept & movie! if it wasn’t the whole planet just an area he controlled, how did he get away with moving the moon??

Honestly Morgan Freeman is the perfect choice as God. They couldn't have casted any better.

Fun fact: when they're walking on water, it's actually not an ocean at all. It's a pond that universal has on their backlot that they make to LOOK like it is, through some clever camera angles.

The teleprompter scene was the hardest I’ve heard a theater laugh.
I figured they made the Evan almighty movie because the Steve Carrell teleprompter scene was literally the funniest part of the movie
Same. I remember seeing it back in the day and wishing I could see that actor in another movie, where he got more screen time. Then came Allmighty Evan, lol. Apparently others had thought something similar. Apologies for the 2nd grade English...

This movie has a nice concept of what if one person would get all God's powers and him seeing (who hated God) how hard it is wae an eye opener. This is where I found a love for Jim Carrey and the funniest part was the news repo9🤣

The traffic jam scene at the beginning sums up Bruce Nolan's character in an important way. If you pay attention to the background as he's ranting, you can see someone being loaded into an ambulance. The traffic jam was caused by some accident, people are injured and quite possibly even dead, and the only thing Bruce notices is how the situation is affecting him. It really emphasizes how self-centered he is.
Bruce Almighty was the first film or TV show that Steve Carrel was ever in. He did amazing for a first time comedy assist. It was almost a no brainer to give him his own film.

I'm surprised i came here after the 1st minute of this upload.
What I enjoyed the most about this movie is it was filmed at the Universal Studios Backlot. That place is loaded with TV and film history.
For example, the town of Buffalo was used previously as Hill Valley for the Back to the Future films.
And the ocean they walk on was a pond, filmed with clever angles

Not watching this reaction since I’ve never seen the movie but I just wanna say I love these Videos with Mell. ❤️ both of you are like in my top 5 reactors.
I loved this movie when it came out. Morgan Freeman as God. It just kind of works, doesn't it? And queue the manic comments below from the hyper-religious bunch about how this isn't a good representation of their religion. Speaking as a former member of that cult, true, but not far off.
I mean it would be very difficult to actually be God. There are too many problems to fix. There's a show where a girl talks to God. She asks for evidence. He points to a beautiful flower. She said you didn't do anything. He answers You make one!!!!
The hyper-religious? Or just religion? Cause there's quite a few religions that just outright don't use this sort of Christian interpretation of God.
The disparity between religious people getting offended over movies, and atheists getting offended because suspect religious people will get offended is absolutely insane.

This was my first time seeing Steve Carroll in anything and I completely remember watching this in a full movie theater and the scene where Jim Carrey is messing with Evan Baxtor's first anchor broadcast (and acting completely crazy) was the highlight of the whole movie. EVERYONE was laughing! I was laughing so hard, my stomach hurt. I was immediately a Steve Carroll fan after that.
This is a movie that's a comedy with heart. It really showcases how we sometimes let our ego get in the way of what's really important; our loved ones, the roof over our heads, our health, etc. Life is not what you think you deserve, but what you do with what you have, giving a little time for people in need and being grateful for what you have. That's what I get from this movie.

Oh great, a stupid "crt" white privilege comment, sorry to say but it's racist to claim white people are privileged because of their skin, we are different colors because of our ancestors migrating out of Africa to northern climates, we are all the same like it or not, it's like polar bears, they're technically brown bears but they're white to match their environment scientific fact! There's no such thing as race, we are homo sapiens every single one of us on planet earth, if we're not, then how can people of different "races", like my family, have children with each other? You don't choose what color your born with like crt claims, that's pure ignorance, in fact look up the human bottleneck that was caused by an ancient volcanic eruption, every person on earth right now of every color came from about 10 surviving women of breeding age when that happened which makes us all RELATED to each other! Privilege my foot, where's my so-called privilege? I'm part French, Scottish, native American and African American by blood, and my family and a million blood tests will prove it and I've never seen this privilege people keep speaking of, last time I checked, living in 3rd class poverty is not privilege

I really love it when you two do collabs. This is a classic movie for me growing up and I believe I saw it in theatres when it first released. After all these years, I never noticed the part where he turns the water to wine and it totally makes sense given the premise of the film.
There is a deleted scene in the film that involves a continuation of Bruce messing with Evan in the news room where he causes his nose to bleed and then he causes his hair to catch fire. Then later in the film in the scene where Bruce apologizes to Evan, there is an extra bit of footage where you can see the back of Evan's head and there is still a singed bald spot. It's a really funny deleted scene but I can understand why they decided to cut that sequence out.
