I had a realization this morning actually, 90% of the self improvement space is filled with tips, tricks, and hacks. That's all it is. There is very little substance anymore. It's all just marketing and courses and nonsense.

Been thinking about this too! Every day I ask myself, "What do you really want?" because that is the first step in changing your life, according to those in the know. And every day I have no clue. It makes me miserable because I feel like I am missing out on something better.

Enjoy what you have and keep an eye out for what could really excite you and fit into your life now. I’m in the same boat! It’s hard to figure out what you want when you have such limited time to go after it. It feels like the most impactful decision ever!! But whatever it is, make sure it’s what YOU want and what’s good for YOUR life. Good luck!! 🤗🩷

I have done this every single day for 6 months and I just realized all that I "really want" is to feel okay with whatever it is I choose to do. The misery is from assuming I've missed out on making the better decision. I also haven't watched the video yet so maybe he talks about this. I don't know if this is also true for you but I thought I'd share because I know this feeling all too well and would never want someone else to have to continue running in this circular thinking.

GOSHHH I needed this video! I’ve been trying to “leveling up” these past 4 months because my ex bf implied I had trauma from previous relationships. Made me feel like something was wrong with me.. therefore I started to work on myself to improve but then it has became this thing that is so exhausting like I feel bad the days I don’t meditate, I feel bad for not starting my business yet.. makes me feel not ready yet to talk to another man or start something with someone because I feel like I’m not ready.. I’ve been isolated from people and friends :( I’m very social but these past months I’ve been feeling like so alone.. thank you for reminding me that life is about balance and loving ourselves and accepting ourselves

These are your best videos imho because its the truth. The truth is where the real value lies. Hearing what you don't want to hear. An example being doing what you hate, having the discipline to follow through is what actually produces the results, at least in the beginning until you form the habits that serve you. For me personally, becoming connected more with God has been the biggest change for me, above anything else I have done up to this point, including some short term therapy. You can only serve one master. Choose wisely. Thank you Clark for sharing this!

This was a good video. I've read a TON of "self improvement" books and watched thousands of hours of videos. My #1 book after all of them is 7 Habits of Highly Effective People because it promotes character ethic over personality ethic, living a principle centered life. Interdependence vs independence. Begin with the end in mind. It keeps me centered on relationships, my core beliefs, and it's God centered.

Clark, this was one of the best videos I've watched! So raw and so vulnerable! I did your course last year and did it again this year... last year, I felt like it was more for improving myself because there's something wrong with me. This year, it was somewhat similar, but with more conviction because I knew it worked. I finished the course the 2nd time round in May or April. 1 week or so ago, I realised all of this and that self-acceptance and contentment with myself and my life is what I need. These last 2 weeks have been the best 2 weeks I've had in a while. They weren't perfect by no means! I was upset, I was unhappy, tired, short, but I've also been happy and content with the fact that I'm not 'perfect' and that is ok❤ much love to you Clark and to the Metamorphic team

  • @Florecerdelaverdad

    Fair enough, Clark.
I believe you can't really talk anyone out of going their own journey, because only the experience leads to realization.
Jim Carrey said: "I wish everyone became rich and famous just to realize that it wasn't the point."
Well, I'm sure even if Jim Carrey went back yo his younger self, he couldn't talk him out of wanting ti achieve his big dreams, and that he has, millions of people listen to him when he speaks.
I know I also want to have the same influence and for that I guess you know better what needs to be done.
I understand you're just expressing yourself and I feel ya on that, living with less pressure would be sweet if you think about it for a moment's notice, but in the end, deep down inside, we all love the thrill of the journey of trying to reach our goals, at least the people who signed up for it in the first place.

    @ghju 3 месяца назад

Hi Clark ! It's gonna be a looong one, sorry 😑 (but I have much to say)
TL;DR: it pains me to say, but for the first time I'm gonna comment because this is the first video of yours I can't really connect to and, worse, disagree notably with on some points. Let me explain.
First, at 1:30 - Well, it took me almost 4 decades before I started realizing that it had some real merits and adjust accordingly. It did me a LOT of good.
Then, at 2:51 - Overall, I agree. I get what you're saying. What you own or what your status is doesn't make your inherent value, I agree 100%.
But that's something I can't connect to when I see all the fubar people in this world and what they do. Let's take the example of someone who hurts a child and said child. I'm sorry, they do _not_ have the same value. Not to me anyway. And that is true for many things. Some humans are unfortunately not fit for life among other humans and the sooner one accepts that, the better. I used to be so empathic I could barely function. Now I have accepted that some people are lost or evil beyond saving. The older I get, the more unforgiving I am of some people who are clearly irredeemable. And that helps me with living in the reality of this world we share. Maybe there are valid explanations for why they are how they are but I don't care. It's a them problem. Not mine.
If they do harm, it's not my job to find reasons and circumstances. I was infinitely more miserable when I used to. It won't bring unalived people back or unharm innocents, or undo damage and undestroy anything. Another example, the amount of animals I see everyday through many channels that endure things I can't even bring myself to talk about here? I have bona fide violent thoughts sometimes. No, we do not all have the same value. I'm not religious, despite being from a deeply catholic culture, but some humans downright belong in the pits of hell.
3.43 I personally never have followed any rulebook of any sort. Even when I started tiptoeing in noob mode in this domain. I listen, I agree or disagree, sometimes my thoughts and experiences (therefore perception) evolve, I reconsider stuff that I had previously heard... it's a whole process. Like anything in life. I consider rules and lack of flexibility are either there to give structure to something in order to reach the most unbiased outcome possible (like say in science) or are there to control. Self-improvement is neither to me (although self-control can definitely be good) so I've never seen whatever advice and "rules" I came across through that lens nor made it such a big deal. My happiness has never been conditional, let alone in relation to what self-improvement has told me I should be doing or working on. I always decide what's worth my time, effort and introspection. It's like a friend giving you advice on stuff you're not seeing objectively. You can take it or leave it, but it's nice to have someone who cares giving it in the first place so you can think about it.
7:24 Self-isolation has probably been the best and biggest catalyst in me taking my life into my own hands again. The time and space to think, without having to act and think in reaction to others, is in my humble opinion a luxury nowadays. It helped me take the necessary steps back to actually, objectively observe what was going on in my life, who was in it, who deserved access to me or not, who I was in unbalanced relationships with, who was crossing and abusing my boudaries, etc. Isolation also meant indeed that I reevaluated some dynamics and that I cut off some people, including from my family, and it definitely was for the better. I still love them. But from afar. The amount of disrespect I could receive without even really noticing is now mind-blowing to me.
Isolation has helped me make room for new and better aligned connections and redirect my energy and care towards people and things deserving of it. Basically, my hands were full of bs and I couldn't grab anything better because I was holding onto said bs out of loyalty and the belief that I had some kind of duty/role or something. Well, turns out, I finally figured out - took me long enough - that I don't and now better people came in and there is always room for more when it just flows. Some are back after a couple years apart and we both evolved and now benefit greatly from it. I feel better, freer, more aligned with the woman I actually am and want to become, and better suited for healing some stuff now that I don't have all that noise distracting me. Sometimes you have to walk alone to think clearly. So in response to 8:09 In fact yes, sometimes it is.
9:53 You know what? It's when I _finally_ started to love myself, respect myself and do what was hard in order to give myself what others didn't, that self-improvement started to really attract me and make sense. Granted, it coincided with a spiritual awakening and soon after the total deletion of my socials, which helped with that too, but I didn't get into it out of feeling "not enough" (although I'm definitely NOT judging, each person has their own story and reasons). In fact I did it out of curiosity and eagerness to, for once, being able to exploit the awesome that was dormant in me, the untapped potential, acknowledging the parts of me that I had been neglecting for so. damn. long.
Self-improvement was somewhat of a guiding light in that it was a starting point for me to understand myself better, what makes me tick, what I want to pursue, what self-limiting beliefs I could have, and so much more. I didn't want to fix myself per se. I mean if I can do that to some brittle parts of me in the process, heck yeah 🤘🏻 but that's not what fueled/fuels me. I wanted to polish the raw diamond (that we all intrinsically have, it's just a matter of realizing it) because if I didn't, who would? I don't want to sound self-centered or narcissistic, but I've spent my entire life living for and serving others and most of the time gave substantially more that what I've received.
And now I understand... what, and how I gave? Some people would kill to have half of this kind of stuff. I'm a genuine giver, a lover, a caring individual, who more often than not puts on an armor and a shield of "idgaf" because if I don't, I may break from sensitivity and empathy like I used to.
I'm at a point in my life where I'm finally giving those same things I gave others for so long to _myself_ and you know what? That makes me an even better giver because now I really measure what it is I'm giving, to whom, and the sincerity behind it has real meaning, it's not out of habit or loyalty. Quality is better. Quantity less. I'm not giving from an almost empty cup anymore.
So yeah, in essence, self-improvement the way you consider it (and have been sharing with us) was my entry point into an "I'm gonna become my best possible self and won't waste everything great in me on people and things undeserving of it" and it still is my primary reason to this day. I'm an eternal student and love improvement in everything. Objects, techniques, recipes, knowledge, skills, workouts, you name it, I'll find ways to make it better to suit my needs and reach my objectives. Always have, always will. So why not myself overall? Yes, I am flawed, I'm human like all of us (I think 👀) and that's what makes me me, too. I wouldn't have it any other way.
And yes, I see myself as a "project" as you said, in a way. But in my eyes, that's definitely a positive. Because I know that I will love what I will become. Even without self-improvement, I wouldn't go back to relive my younger decades even if I could. I like this 40s woman SO much better !! Even physically, which my younger self would never have believed in a million years. Granted, I'm a millennial - we're mostly aging like fine wine - true lol, but still 😋
Did I always feel great and high vibe while seeking advice and guidance? Of course not. But you know what else? I found people like you and a couple others who made a deep mark on me and in how I reflect and think about things. You unknowingly and single-handedly helped me reach some of my most precious and deep realizations. On which, consequently, I have been able to reflect, take stock of, act and heal sometimes too. The self-acceptance part you mentioned has been progressing in part thanks to the reflection and acknowledgment of some stuff you incited in me. Many things and people have played a part, but you did as well. A sizeable chunk of my shadow work has been instigated through your content alone - and I haven't watched everything, far from it, not even all that you've published since I subscribed around the first covidfest iirc, to be honest - which has been very valuable to me and for that I'm immensely grateful. Thank you.
It feels to me like you're projecting a bit yourself (not a judgement, merely an observation) and that you lost yourself among people for whom appearances and status are it, maybe you're going through an existential crisis. You're approaching mid-thirties, correct? Been there. What I mean is don't throw away everything you've once helped people with just because you're temporarily uncertain, probably tired, disappointed, and that you feel like your life is lacking meaning in the self-improvement "community". I hope you find what you're looking for and if that's religion instead, then so be it. That's where (if it sips into your content I mean) our paths will fork, but again I'm grateful for what has been available and valuable to me during these few years.
In the meantime, take care, Clark.

During the pandemic,🌻 I hand-made pillows for children to keep my mental health strong, and the families that thanked me for the for the free charitable gift, gave me strength. 🌻I felt like my life-purpose depended on my courage to be there for others, without expecting a return for the time-alloted. Altruism can be abused if the "serving and generousity" was made for 'likes' or some sort of credit.🌻

Heck yeah, this vid popped up on my feed from nowhere but I've always felt the 'grind' as a fairly empty, one-dimensional pursuit. Good to be in solitude sometimes to go inward, but opening oneself to experience the nuances of the outer world is also valuable.

Hmm I appreciate you so much. I think there are people who are happy in spirituality outside religion... but it's about not losing ourselves and serving others like you say here. You're just my favorite. I'm not mad at any church. But anything can be harmful. Everything is an inside job, isn't that beautiful?

Hi, I'm new to your videos and so far I've watched two of them, multiple times, this one and the one on chakras. I absolutely love both and it amazed me how they were exactly what I needed to know for where I'm in my self growth/spiritual journey. I'm currently building up the courage to become a teacher in my field of massage therapy and videos like this help build that encouragement/self belief. Anywho, back to this video... I don't know your age but there is a portion in your chakra video where you correlate the chakras with how we grow every 7 years and the high chakras where we connect to something greater than ourselves start around age 35. I found it interesting that you mentioned God in this video and was wondering if maybe you're entering your higher chakras? At least, that's what I have been finding to be true for myself at age 37. It's a beautiful thing ❤

I literally had to pause the video and comment when you said you feel yourself being called back to God and religion and community. I’ve been in spirituality space for almost 20years and I’m still struggling. I’ve done many plant medicine journeys, many workshops, read all the spiritual books, invested in courses, etc.
It feels like I’ve literally tried everything and yes, it’s been this feeling like I have to be better, I have to “fix” myself.
I think this worked initially, when I was in a really dark space, however it’s not working anymore… For months I kept randomly being called to buy a bible. I thought it was such an odd thing for me to feel called to considering, I partially grew up in somewhat of a Christian cult family and a lot of the religion thing terrified me for many years. Long story short, I finally bought one this past month and randomly opened up to a page not once but twice, I began to read the first thing that caught my eye and it was something I had been struggling with internally for quite sometime. It gave me a pretty solid answer straight from the teachings of Jesus, which I thought was pretty miraculous. ❤

100% agree, this is definitely very refreshing when it comes to the "self improvement" niche. However, I definitely encourage people to stop compromising on what they want because it might seem ordinary or not normal to other people, and sometimes the cliche things you hear from gurus are actually right. BUT NOT every time lol. For example, I resonate a lot with people like David Goggins and Alex Hormozi, but I don't try to be them, I have parts of my life that I love doing and I don't want to give up those things. Although, I will take things they do that I know I want to do and implement it into my own life where I see fit. All in all, live the life you ultimately want to live, and for some people going to extreme lengths to change is necessary to get out of the hole they are in, just don't cave in on yourself when it comes to "self improvement" so much to the point you are miserable. Do it your way!

I just turned 36 and these have been my daily thoughts. I was wrapped up in the self-improvement game for so long, then woke up to the fact that I always felt this separation from who I am and who I was becoming. After over a decade of trying to become this other person, I still felt the separation. I realized that if I continue to try to become my “higher self”, I would always feel like I was not them. So, I’ve really been switching my focus on just being. Learning how to be content with being who I am and knowing that instead of trying to become some ideal person, I just need to focus on stripping away all of the conditioning and stories that have continued to keep me believing that I am not my higher self, right now.

This video was good. Loved it. Though this style of vid would be best done, once every 5-6 months, based on my gut feeling. As this kind of vid seems to be aimed at addressing ‘trends of behaviour and perceptions’. So you’d want to build up a 6month collection of history to make a vid about recent history.

These things may be true for some, but I spent the first 30+ years of my life focusing on others and it didn’t do anything for my life. Now that I have focused on learning about and improving myself I have more balance and I feel closer to others, understanding them, and making mindful choices about who I spend my time with. Not everyone we “enjoy” is good for us to be around. Not every well-thought out choice of company is transactional, sometimes it is for the greater good as well as our own. I’ll never go back to giving my valuable time to the wrong people and letting the negativity of others rub off on me. It’s not all about money, it’s about mentality. Someone can be not wealthy but have a healthy rich mindset, while someone can have money and have a scarcity mindset, for me it’s more about character and perspective than wealth.

I think people need to connect all these advices with all the advices of self-improvement and find something that works for them personally. And they will get were they want to be.
There is nothing wrong with limiting yourself to things that do not lead you to your goals, that distract you.
You can live your life while going to your dreamlife, but it's two different lives!
You need to be consistent and concetrated on your goals to get it!

When you talked about checking all the boxes from self improvement recommendations and it ending up being conditions to do everyday to be happy, this spoke to me deeply.
I track habits on an app, I must have like 12 of them to do everyday, I've been asking myself lately, is it really making me feel better ? Cause I never accomplish them all in a day, so I always have a reason to feel bad about myself.
I deleted about half of them just yesterday, feeling much lighter and better already

This video was one of my favorite videos you've ever created. I can feel your authenticity and to me, that is the most empowering for others. I'm really grateful for your insight and clear way of communicating all sides of self improvement and spirituality and being able to stay grounded in who you are, and not what others are telling you you are. There is SO much toxicity in many spirituality information circulating the media as well as constantly striving for more - and I agree thats beautiful to want more but if you're losing yourself in the process and severing connection with others - that is the complete opposite of the goal.
I also resonate with coming back to more traditional beliefs and ways of life which God plays a big role in guiding that, or whatever that higher power is for you. I feel thats why a lot of people are being called back to this! It's so beautiful as long as we don't use it in the same ways to judge others or isolate of course.
    Thank you, again.

If a person sitting at rock bottom is not focused on themselves and their problems how will they survive? Survival needs focus. Imagine a hungry man who does not care that he is hungry. I admit that all of the advice in self-help books is not valid or applicable to everyone but it does not mean that people should not make serious attempts to improve themselves or their life.

Sandra Pogodova said that when you change your life or you go trough a personal transformation, want to be happy and find new solutions or do new business or passion work, or finding purpoise....
Its about how to be calm and understanding what makes you trive what friends resonate with you, but
but she said there is one rule, "everythiong you do is about what intention you have"
When you travel you do it with some intention, when you write abook you do it with good intention that someone may laugh because the book is humorous,
when you exercise you you do it with good intention , when you meet friends you do it with good intention.
She probably ment that you dont neccessarily analyze every aspect of the purpose or resolution,
but the intention. Because some people get inspired some not.
her philosoiphy as she read lot of books, is that we shouldnt judge peopelk for mistakes, because its the best they do at the moment.
Its seems nothing is wrong unless you have a good intention. You learn something new.
