For the shaky cam shots.Use a screen recorder for your laptop and then put the audio from the camera over the screen recording. That way we still get the engine sounds.
Nick, this is amazing and a huge help!! Last night Will and I went through your basemap and we were wondering about the changes....this is literally the most timely video haha, doing a HR intake this weekend and will be seeing how it runs with stock exhaust 😊 thanks!
Nick helped me out with some tuning advice for my DIY EBay turbo 8thgen R18 civic build. Thanks Nick for your kind help and taking time last year to help a fellow enthusiast out. Putting the long term fuel trims to zero was awesome advice and I was able to get it dialed in. Cheers from chicago!
Thank you so much for sharing the details. Helps some of us out of date older guys, know some basics thanks sooo much. Please keep showing these details. Really helps old tune shops know what you I do with these k series motors
I agree! I have a 2008 Nugen Si and I'm excited about making it beyond what people were hoping it was when it came out. Such an amazing series of engines.
@@IFIXATVS I definitely need a better intake mine is just breathing hot air right now and a better exhaust system my plans are to get the same mods that he has but tuned on 93 pump gas instead and upgrade my throttle body to the zdx j37 and maybe put a set of rdx 410 injectors with hybrid racing fuel rail
@@yessismaldonado8483 with this setup you don't really need to upgrade the oil pump it wouldn't be a bad choice but upgrading the oil pump would be better if you had upgraded cams if you wanted to push 240-260whp on the stock k20z3
I do the exact same thing for the gear based ignition tip in... discovered that a few years ago. I would notice a sputter everytime I would switch gears upon throttle tip in. Logged it and saw it was pulling timing on tip in. Set it all to -100 and was smooth.
Thank you for this guide/info. It's helped tremendously especially with my cars smoothness. With the EPA stuff going on in my state (NC) and after a shop in a major city was fined over a million bucks for fudging inspections I can't get an inspection with the skunk2 header. Having to revert back to factory to pass their visual inspection is a pain. When things settle down I'll ultimately get it put on and a professional tune. Till then I'll be careful with this adjusted base map tune. MUCH APPRECIATION.
Wow, those are amazing numbers!!!! That engine must be extremely healthy as you said considering it made 14 hp more compared to mine. Mods are almost the same except I have the invidia header and my rbc is port and polished paired with a j35 tb.
Honestly this is all I want for my 8th gen, 230 to the wheels is great, the car would just be perfect and fun without being bonkers. Nice! I guess I have to get the intake and header now.
That car making 230 thats crazy. I have a 06 Si with Hybrid cal, KT 72mm TB , SKUNK2 alpha header, Rbc port match, grams 265 LPH fuel pump, on E85 just making 217hp 178 max Tq
Special request - please always include a baseline stock non tuned reference dyno if you have them. Having one for 2L and 2.4L would be the ultimate. Thank u
use a screen recording program and overlay the footage while syncing up the time. that way we get both an inside and outside perspective of whats going on. Personally, I'd love to see more videos like this and some educational vids on tuning.
Thank you so much! Currently trying to learn what's going on in Flash Pro on my car by using datalog, and looking forward to see someday some kind of this video with TSX 07-08 Turbo set up :)
Nick thank you so much greatly appreciate your work! Loaded your tune onto my FA5 and night and day difference🤘Had to pull some fuel 10.1 wot assuming the difference in intakes as the k&n typhoon is smaller than HR CAI Mods K&N SRI P2R tbs Jack spania race header Rev9 3in exhaust
I vote for a ktuner video also. Until then however, Ive learned so much about tuning the ktuner by watching hondata kpro videos. The interface layout is different but the software mostly does the same thing
Thanks for sharing Nick! Also always zero out LTFT, very counterproductive when trying to get fueling tables set. I have a request if you could cover on a video, Setting up the fuel table switching from MAF to MAP, can you show getting the initial start going? I tried getting my RDX set up over on speed density but as you know the fuel table data in Flashpro calibrations are not even close to getting the vehicle to start.... I pulled and added fuel in the starting/idling cells but fouled out the plugs and drained the battery trying for a few hours... best i could get was 8-15 seconds for the engine to run which didn't get 02 sensor feedback for me to work off of. Fouling the plugs sucks being it has a top mount intercooler. I was told to zero the vtc to at least get it to idle and haven't done another attempt. Would love to see your process and any tips you might share!
Like always excellent content. Just want ask. I have 1500cc I injectors a the idle is not smooth. It's like misfiring. How can I adjust the afr at idle to try smooth the idle? The short trim correction does not allow me to do it.
Hi Nick, thank you for all the great work you do. I was hoping you could help me with my tune. I am running K&N SRI, 1320 performance headers, catless full Invidia q300 exhaust. I am current using the standard tune closest to my setup because I still want all the gauge functions oil life etc. Is there anything I need to do to make sure I am running correctly? It seems to drive fine, minus the gas smell.
Awesome video, 230hp seems super healthy and I appreciate the tuning tips! Wondering if I could ask a quick question on one of your settings. I have an fa5 with just a k&n intake and a catback, been using the KNSRI calibration and it's been working well, fuel trims and afr look good. I adjusted my tip in table like yours to see if that helps smooth out my shifts, but I left the fueling alone and kept using the MAF sensor. Anyways my question, do you recommend your launch control settings for NA? I tried it out and adding that fuel and retarding timing gave me some pops and bangs, wondering if those settings are geared more towards turbod cars? Or if you had other recommended launch setting for na? Or if that's what you usually go with?
Hi. What’s your regular ect 2 readying or where should it go up to or sustain at? Do you normally see your ect 2 temp at low temp? When datalogging or just viewing your gaugesis your ect 2 hitting higher temps like 150s 160-170s and making your ect 1 temp get higher? I have this problem and not sure if something is wrong with my cooling system.
hey nick! new to hondata and I have a very similar setup on my civic, however I dont really have the excess funds for a dyno tune. can you explain how you adjusted the fuel tables a little more? thanks!
I have a k24a swapped 8th gen, would copying the fuel calibration tab, from the injector opening time to overrun fuel cut delay benefit the k24 aswell as the k20 or no?
love the side by side comparisons...do more!!! can i ask? here in australia we have the K20z4 engine. effectively same as this motor . why is it with the exact same mods on our dynos ( dyno-dynamics) its 230ish BHP , which @ wheels is about 198 HP. Is this a difference in dyno's or am i missing something?
all dynos will read a little different dependent on type and calibration. even the same dynos can vary a little. could also come down to ambient temps, fuel quality, and simply engine to engine varies a little.
Very cool video and super helpful. Thank you. I am curious if and what you might change given this similar configuration with a ktuned 72mm throttle body? I have 3inch rev9 catback, 3inch PLM header, hybrid CAI, and the ktuned 72 mm Tb. Thanks. Your vids are mix appreciated friend. 😊
I have an 02 type s, full bolt ons got 236whp from it. But I only used 40% of my injectors duty cycle. So I added the skynk2 ultra street manifold, skunk2 stage 2 drop in headers and lsd differential and rebuilt transmission. Took it to a different tune shop, an I got a choppy tune map that is terrible an with extra fuel air an cams and nitrous I only got 224whp. I get a lsd is more levers for power to get to the road. But should I have lost 12whp with all that added? Or did the guy at the shop not know much of what he was doing
hello right now my car has a drop in k&n filter with no resonator and i have a megan racing cat delete pipe and stock exhaust what setting can you recommend i want to lower my vtec and may be revhang thank you
Would you consider selling the tune for that car as is?? I have same bolt ons. I understand all the reasons why not to do it and to get the car tuned as every car is unique, but i am just looking for a fully tuned map that I can start off from until I get my 80mm throttle and finally get it tuned. If you dont mind selling it, let me know how to reach you. Thanks
anyone familiar with EPS issues with this car. I found something on old fourms leading people to believe it is caused by HONDATA but my car is swapped and I cannot go without Hondata to test this theory out.

Would it sometimes make a burble or pop? I've got a 10th gen and it does that on tip in at certain RPMs.
Most informational video i ran into on youtube here with tuning a stovk 8th gen

Do 2.2 drag cartel cams bro. Add like 15whp. Should put u at like 230-240whp 180-190tq
this is very helpful, a good base to start off from , thanks

2.0 see better and worth more
For the laptop you can use a capture software like geforce experience .
post the rest of the fuel maps
Thank you!!
Great info! This certainly helps keep other tuners honest or at the least know what to questions before selecting one. Keep it coming!

Do you tune R18 Civics?
Under ignition settings how you set it all to -100 will it work for 9th gen si on just intake and catback exhaust?

When tuning fuel and timing do you also adjust each cam degree map I see you show the 0 degree map

Does this work using ktuner as well?
Is it ok to tune these cars when they have high mileage? Like over 150k?
Could i apply these settings to the 9th gen with exhaust only you think?

sooo do u have all the fuel map the same or is each vtc fuel/tmap tuned individually?
Are you able to run a cat with the alfa header?
no, it takes the space where the cat goes, which is why its illegal in some states in the US.
Where are u located how much u charge for a tune
My cars been running super lean after installing hr CAI, gonna try this and let yall know how it works
Update: car ran beautiful with these changes thank you bro
What header and exhaust are u running?
What rims are those???
What front grill is that? Thanks!

Is this tune available to purchase?

What front bumper and lip is that??

I just did a clutch job of this gen. Bruh
Good 👍 ASS job Brudda ✌.
