    Your “work bench” is like mine; in that I know where everything is at. Once in a while I don’t put a tool back where I can put my hands on it…….. then I recall what my Dad said 55 yrs ago, “just put it back where ya got it ; then any of us can go right to it 😁

    If you need a video idea, I’d love a walk through of WC/NWC electrical sensors/switches that plug into the unit. What do they do, how they work, and any other important tid bits you’ve learned about them over the years. Thanks for the great work on these videos and your book, they were instrumental in doing my rebuild.

    Guessin’ you didn’t do PRI this year. Have enjoyed your PRI visits in the past, for actually showing the tech side, versus others, whose videos are like Christmas shopping with the wife.🙄😬
    Don’t know if it helps, back in the day, if I had occasion to have to heat bearings and such, for assembly, I had a cheap home fryer with ATF in it, that let me set a temp, and get the bearings etc, heated, to be pulled out for installation as assembly progressed.
    Thanks for sharing.

    • @GearBoxVideo
      @GearBoxVideo  7 месяцев назад +3

      There is no reason to use hot oil. In a shop that would be a safety issue. Just use a hotplate. But always an infered temp gun

    Hi Paul. I’m rebuilding a T5 NWC at the moment and this video has been very helpful. I’m about to install the input shaft however I cannot find the “needle roller spacer” and are pretty sure there was not one when I disassembled it as I would of bagged it up with the needle rollers, thrust washer and thrust bearing if there was.
    Can you confirm that the NWC needs the “needle roller spacer” or can it be run without it.
    Thanks very much.

Kinda scared to buy anything off the internet due to some of the issues you’ve shown in some of your other videos with these kits.

    I have a 1983 Jeep CJ7 with a t5 transmission. I need to replace the lower gear cluster. I find them on eBay but are the gears all the same or do I need a specific tooth count? Do you sell the rebuild kits and the parts I will need? I would like to order from you if you have them. Your videos are a huge help.

    I have a Borg-Warner 5sp, that came out of 1977 buick skyhawk w/231ci motor. You claim T5 was not produced until mid to late 80's, if so, what is this tranny called if not a T5? from what i've been told by other mechanics n motorheads is this is a T5 with fiber synchroz, if i put any real hp in front of it i need to add brass synchoz to handle extra torque. wud you recommend any additional changes ? going behind a factory 5.3LS...just a daily driver square body..thanx for all videos, very informative

  • @fifthwalker

    I am using your excellent video to rebuild the t5 in my 83 cj7. I purchased a new 3rd gear for my year and model but the tooth count is 27 instead of 29 like my original. The outside diameter is .055" less than the original. Should I use this? When ordering, they don't tell you the tooth count. Can you advise me?

    • @GearBoxVideo
      @GearBoxVideo  2 дня назад

      You have to use the matching counter gear to go with that. The 29 tooth gear always broke so they made it roughly the same diameter with less teeth making the tooth profile thicker. So there's also a new account of gear that goes with that. If you broke a gear the matching gear is also going to be broken anyway or damaged or bent. So change the counter gear

    Have you rebuilt many T45 manual transmissions. I can’t find much information on rebuilding one. I have 98 cobra and seems like when the gearbox heats up from driving it gets harder to shift. I have changed the fluid used to correct type and amount. It has done this prior to when I changed the fluid

    • @GearBoxVideo
      @GearBoxVideo  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hard shifting when heating has nothing to do with the trans but everthing to do with poor clutch release. And the T45 is like a T5 without a top over. Parts are hard to find now
