  • This is one of my favorite DIY recipes because it is so easy to make and it's a super effective laundry detergent! I tend to lean towards dry laundry detergent but for those of you that prefer liquid detergent you will love this formula. For the full written "recipe" you can head over to my blog:

I made this last week. Had been using a recipe that calls for Zote, washing soda and borax but it was not getting my whites as bright as they could be. I love this and will be using from here on out. One thing I did differently than your instructions was to mix the borax and washing soda in hot water before adding the dish detergent. That way all powder is dissolved before the detergent is added and there will be very little (if any) suds when the water is added.

If dawn was sooo toxic..then WHY do wildlife rescuers use it on animals who have been the victims of toxic oil spills? Hmmmm? Tell those people that dawn is toxic and see what they tell you.

For those of you looking for an 89 oz container- the dawn refill bottles are 90 oz in case you have one lying around.

I prefer using Dr Bronner's castile soap instead of Dawn. You can add vegetable glycerin as a binding agent so the ingredients won't separate after sitting awhile. You still may need to stir or shake the container you put the mixture in before adding it to your machine. 1/2 cup per load max.

I love it when I come across videos like this where the recipe consists of ingredients that I already have at home! Thanks for this! I look forward to trying it soon.

Never put dish detergent in a washing machine. I worked in a halfway house and we had to lock the dish detergent up b/c residents were using it to do laundry when they ran out of laundry soap. They destroyed two washing machines and the appliance repair man told us what caused it.

I love this recipe for laundry detergent. I've used it for 2 years in my HE washer. ( front loader ) It works very well. For whites I add oxygenated bleach from the Dollar Tree. 2 scoops and hot water wash.❤️

Thank you for this video..... I loved your dry laundry detergent and adjusted the amount of certain items according to my household washing and I fell in love. I did a lot of research and found yours to be the best for me and my family. Now I think I am ready to give the liquid one a go. My plan once I have the liquid one according to my household washing is to make enough of dry and liquid detergent to last for all of next year. I homeschool so it is going to be a science project to do with my 5, 4, and 2 year old. The plan is to make start making it this December and have it ready to go by the end of that month. Please keep ideas like this coming because I really enjoy them.

Dawn is not 'non toxic. If a person is taking the time to make a cost effective product then also ensure that it really is non toxic and is healthy for you and your family to use

Thanks Jillee!! I LOVE your recipe. So glad you use Dawn in it. It's been my go-to kitchen helper forever--and believe me, I've tried everything! Thanks so much for your wonderful channel. Remember to just ignore the naysayers. Their opinions will just bring you down. Stay your upbeat, positive self!! ((hugs))

I am going to try your version. It seems pretty easy. I lost my main source of income around 5 months ago. Ever since, I am always looking for money saving strategies. Will hit you back in a couple of weeks to give you my opinion. Dawn does clean a lot of things.
