DIY HOMEMADE LAUNDRY SOAP RECIPE!
#cleanwithme #diy #paulacodo #diy #laundry #homemadesoap Хобби
I finally made this. I used an old minute made juice jug, 2.63 L. I also made my own washing soda. To make your own washing soda, you take baking soda spread it out evenly on a baking tray, bake it at 400 degrees for 1 hour, take it out to cool completely. Then put in a glass jar for later use.... I found that recipe online. Use parchment paper to make it easier to lift off the baking sheet and empty into a glass jar...
Best thing I've read all day! TY 😊
THANK YOU FOR SHARING. I'M SO HAPPY THIS CHANNEL IS FULL OF PEOPLE WHO HELP ONE ANOTHER. WE ARE ALL TRYING TO LIVE A STRESS FREE LIFE AND THE COST OF LIVING GOING UP ALONE IS STRESSFUL. GOD BLESS BOTH OF YOU LADIES ✝️🙏🏾🥹🥰🩵
Hello, came here from your portable washing machine video. My college student may like the idea as he hates the public machines. Watching you is calming, you have such a pleasant demeanor. While I may not make my own detergent, I can say I now know how to!
I've used Dawn to wash laundry a few years ago because I had no money for laundry soap. I just used a tiny bit in the larger machine at the laundromat and my clothes were clean, but my clothes were very rough. But it works
I live full time in an RV and always looking at ways to save money and make things simple. This is a perfect way to save money and make things all natural. Thank you Paula!
You think Dawn is “all natural”?
Thank u, Ms. Paula, I just got my washing machine today, and i ran across your video .
Just an observation - as you are already boiling the water and measuring out the water in 2 cup increments, you could add the borax in one of the 2 cups and dissolve before adding it to the jug, and do the same with the washing soda with the second 2 cup measurement of boiling water. That should take care of that undissolved stuff at the bottom of the container.
Yes ..... That's what i do
She doesn’t need two water softeners.
Borax is only 1/10 as soluble as WS.
Awesome. Thanks and God bless all👍😆
Your welcome 💕🌸
Hi Ms Codo, Sabine again from Toronto. Thank you for this recipe, I just made it and I will use it from now on.
Wish I saw this video before buying laundry power yesterday. But will definitely give this a try.
Yes i am new to you channel love what i see so far and i enjoy watching you
thanks for sharing i will
make the soap.
Thanks
Love, love, love Dawn! It comes in handy for so many things in my kitchen, laundry room and garage. It's one of the best degreaser on the market in my humble opinion as well. Being that I've made this in a pinch a few times, my tip would be to save yourself the time of all the individual measuring process... I Boil the amount of water that my storage jug might hold add the soda & borax put it on a low heat and stir until all he powder has dissolved. Allow it to cool down while I tackle other projects then come back and add my dawn. I like my potion to be a bit richer then a half cup offers so I usually go with 3/4 to a cup depending on the how soiled my wash load I'm going to do is. I don't use much fabric softener due to respiratory and skin issues so I replace that with vinegar which cuts any soap curds and also keeps my machine running well and clean as well as managing that musty order that comes from build up if you're not running a vinegar cycle at least once a month, under control. A cost effective tip on the Dawn is to do a price search on the gallon size. The first time I went gallon size, I was able to purchase a case of 4 gallons of the professional pots & pan formula. One gallon of it literally took me through a year and that is with washing dishes, all purpose cleaning, carpet cleaning, laundry, and home made degreasing. I got lucky and found the gallon size for 17.00 each on Walmart online and 4 came to the case, best $68.00 bucks I ever spent. Then I ran across another sale for $11.00 and brought 6 cases of the stuff and blessed a few friends with them and I still have 8 gallons left to date. Talk about a deal of all deal's, I was Happy Happy!!!
Thank you! This is the easiest recipe I have seen for DIY Laundry Soap! Especially liquid soap...most are more involved. If you have Baking Soda....all you have to do is spread it out on a baking sheet ....put in 400 degree oven for 1 hour..let it cool. You have Washing Soda now! lol. That way you dont have to buy anything extra. You can line the baking sheet with parchment paper ...might make it easier to transfer to a jar or bottle. lol. I just saw that someone else already said this! Sorry! 🤪
AWESOME! It works great! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing
Thank you, I can't wait to try this!
Gonna try. Love it.
I have a favorite dish soap that i bet i would love to convert to laudry soap as i love the smell of it to the point i like washing my dishes when im useing it . Its the original green pamolive dish soap im gonna try this with my pamolive lol also i love Zote bar soap its amazeing on stains and i also love Mexican laundry soaps its finely milled powdered soap compared to the clumpy dry crap u get for the same price here its definitely more like the more costly brands and thing is it works to clean ur whole house 1 soap i can clean laundry dishes floors bathrooms ill have to make a. Video on its amazeing cleaning uses lol
Thank you💕🌸
Made my day diy laundry soap ‼️ Thank you so much ‼️
I am going to try this. Thanks for recipe.
Oh wow. I will definitely make this! Thank U!♥️
I'm definitely trying this recipe, thanks for sharing this!! :)
Sister, Codo thank you for showing me how to make my own laundry detergent!! God bless you very helpful and easy!!
Thank you! You are so awesome!
I made your recipe and simply adore the result, thank you!
Great sharing.
I am new to your channel.not sure I came to it. But I absolutely love it and your very clean home and pleasant voice and beautiful personlity. Love your wisdom.i will defenfily be doing this to save money on laundry detergent. Thank you so much.O my name is Paula to so, nice to meet you Paula 👌👌
I will definitely try to make this👍
This recipe is way simpler than one using Zote soap flakes (or grinding your own flakes from a fels naphtha bar) combined with washing soda, and borax. These always ended up thickening up too much for me after resting overnight and were also gloppy even with adding more water than stated. I will be very happy to try this. I usually make 3 gallons at a time and have more than enough for an entire year. The cost is extremely cheap compared to commercial laundry soaps.
I think that powdered feels naphtha and soda and borax got stuck in a deposit of hair and lint and old soap and made a heck of a washer drain clog. I'm going liquid from now on!
It’s very dilute. Like washing with plain water!
LOVE YOUR LIPSTICK!! I will be making your detergent recipe!!!
Wonderful
New to your channel and subscribed after watching just one clip! Thanks for the easy to follow instructions💯 trying the laundry soap recipe, got to gather the ingredients👍
Thank you Paula. This looks awesome I just found one of my favorite natural liquid dish soaps on sale 50% off so I bought 8 as well as 15lbs of soda on ebay, I'm ready to roll . Gosh that saves tons of money and it's a very clean natural product!
Lol. Look at how dilute it is. 1/2 tsp of Dawn per load. Lol!
Gracias
Great 👍
Good morning beautiful
Thank you for sharing 💚
Love it. And Borax can be used for so so so many things. Thank you for the video. Also, we're praying for you in Canada.
I get washing soda on Amazon. This is a great recipe.
Thank you. I came from your washing machine video. I have been making powdered detergent for many many years. But this looks very interesting too! Laundry soap is so pricey so I prefer to make my own since it is so economical. I will definitely be trying this recipe. I subscribed too 👏🏼😊
If you're going to diy laundry soap, then at least dish detergent formula is the closest thing to actual laundry detergent.
Hi Paula, I’m so glad I found your channel. I am going to use your recipe for the laundry soap. Thank you.
PS I did subscribe to your channel.
I've made powdered detergent in the past but we'll be making this recipe, I like the liquid much better.
Beautiful hair almost like corn silk.
Trying this tonight !!
I thought about making some videos but man- the comments!!! Lol
1001 different suggestions! LOL
I loved how are your video was simple and it cut straight to the recipe❤️ thank you💕
I am new love your videos really good
Hi Paula! New subscriber (from Ontario). Liking the content of your videos. Blessings, Mary
Borax is great! So is washing soda!
This was great diy! By chance do you have a diy for fabric softener (unscented)? Thank you!
Thanks for the video tutorial! I find my washing soda at Home Hardware 🙂
@@PaulaCodo I buy washing soda at Walmart.
@@PaulaCodo you’re welcome
Please madam, do we put a quarter of a cup alone in the washing machine, or do we add it to the laundry liquid, and thank you for the beautiful and natural recipe
Hello Paula currently i have powdered detergent and wanted to know if it will still work with the portable washing machine ?
I plan to make your recipe for laundry soap in future.
Inplace of Dawn, or other unhealthy detergent, use Kirk's Castile bar soap. Dissolve completely and then use Paula's recipe. Add essential oils and skip the chemical fragranced scent beads!
Lol. Soap deposits scum.
Hi Paula, I am going to use this recipe as my new laundry detergent! Quick question, do you also use 1/4 cup of the detergent with your portable machine?
really enjoyed this video, you talk so naturally now in front of the screen, also different from your usual cleaning videos.
Very nice thanks for sharing
FYI
Washing soda is available at Cdn tire and home hardware
I can’t wait to try this! What size of container were you putting the ingredients in? It look like a 2 quart container but I can’t be sure
@@PaulaCodo thankyou!
How much oxyclean to add?
I like the video. But what size is the juice bottle; quart, gallon, half gallon? Also it's bor ax, not bor ox. Like chopping with an ax.
Its Borax
if you don't have a juice jug like the one you show, what can you use in place of that?
You can get washing soda in the cleaning aisle of your local Home Hardware store in Canada. I’ve made powered soaps that work great and I use dawn for lots of cleaning jobs. I really like the idea of making liquid laundry detergent. I’m going to give your recipe a try. Thank you for sharing. 🤗
I like this recipe. I am considering using this recipe as it does not have any added ingredients we do not need. I use a special liquid detergent. I want to see what is more economical. Have you determined what the cost is to make this (minus the juice bottle)?
Lol. She doesn’t need two water softeners.
How much do you use per load to wash the clothes?
Thank you so much for this video! We are running low on laundry soap (I usually have about a year’s worth on hand, but no one has had it on sale lately!) so your timing is perfect! Your hair looks great, by the way.
@@PaulaCodo that’s so good to know! My husband took early retirement when this virus stuff began, and now that he’s home all the time he putters in his shop and gets really dirty! Laundry stains have become a regular part of my life, so thanks for the tip!
@@PaulaCodo thank you! I’m constantly amazed at the way you have solutions for sooo many things!
Great to try with non scented dish soap for sensitive skin, add a cup of choice scent fabuloso. The perfume is less irritating and scent on clothes is quite pleasant. Also consider letting solution sit before adding cold water but if you don't have time, place the container in a bucket and run water as Paula did. Rather than wasting the suds that contains soap you can use it to wash dishes thro7ght the day, mop floor, or place in a container, ect.
Waste not spend less!
@@PaulaCodosure and thanks for easy guidance on your vids 👍.
@@PaulaCodo indeed! New subscriber ;)
Is the container a 1 gallon juice container?
You literally look like a queen♡😳👸
Oh wow I never thought of making laundry detergent with Dawn haha ive done it several other ways. And I use Dawn for otherside and cleaning methods. Love this Paula ❤
@@PaulaCodo YES! That would be awesome!!
Instead o you can use baking sofa instead of washing soda
Nice! I’ve never tried baking soda🌸
Paula, can I use this on front load washers?
Thank you!!!! Really appreciate your help. I also was throwing a little oxy-clean clean into my powdered detergent just to brighten the clothes. I am very excited to try this. I look forward to watching your other videos and I did also share the detergent recipe with a friend. 👍🏼😊
How much cold water to put?
I put fairy liquid in my washer on its own i don't know what borox is im in the UK
Do you know how to make natural face shop organic?
Walmart has washing soda in the pool supply area. A huge bag for $8.97. Arm and Hammer big orange bag. You actually can use it for baking.
Washing soda and baking soda are not the same! Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate and washing soda is sodium carbonate. You can use either for laundry but not for baking!
@@Penny-bt4gc….no, it’s not. I was referring to the big orange bag of “baking soda” that Walmart sells in the pool supply department. I use it for my pool and laundry. I also use it for baking. I checked the bag. It’s just a very large bag of the regular box type of baking soda. It is used just the same way as “washing soda”. It is not necessary to have a separate soda. Baking soda is very versatile. BTW, you can turn baking soda into washing soda, by baking it, but really that is so unnecessary, as baking soda can be used in any application, that washing soda can be.
Another point I need to make about the difference between baking and washing soda. Washing soda is very caustic. You must take care when handling. Not so, with baking soda. Check out Natures Nurture website for more info.
@@mjp5129 would you use same amount of baking soda as the washing soda
@@cherylszlachetka3609 …I would say yes.I use it to clean my tile grout. That and Dawn and vinegar. Very effective.
Kudos to you! Great video with VERY important content. I've been using a variation of this recipe for the past 10 years. It's the best I've ever used, and it's the only thing that gets marinara stains out of my white table linens. Most young people are skeptical ... until they try it. My own version is a little speedier -- measure borax and washing soda into your jug, add 2 cups of very hot water; shake vigorously to dissolve all the particulates; keep adding hot water and shaking until your jug is almost full, then add Dawn and toggle gently to avoid over-sudsing. This costs $1.11 (US) per gallon (128 fluid ounces) and has no environmentally dangerous chemicals; Tide is over $20 a gallon. Good luck with your RUclips channel!
Lol. This is like washing with plain water. Tide is 20% surfactants.
@@FrankGutowski-ls8jt Dawn has surfactants, too. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it. Even Tide couldn't take marinara stains out of my white table linens. Most of my kitchen linens were my mother's when I was a teenager, and they're all still snow white. Pretty threadbare, but definitely white.
@@kathryncooper4001
The concept of concentration seems to elude you. Cleaning effectiveness depends on time, temperature, agitation and concentration of cleaning agents. Tide costs $20/gal because it’s 15%-20% surfactants and contains soil suspension agents, rinse aids, enzymes, foam suppressors, agents that prevent fading, and other ingredients to improve cleaning. This DIY concoction is less than 1% surfactants. It’s based on wishful thinking, not science.
How loads per recipe and how much per load
1/4 c per load ok
how $ per load?
Ive tried this but with out boiling the water, just added hot tap water and it works great!
Oh I see ok
Woow! Excellent sharing 🌻💓🌻You're amazing! ❤ Have a blessed weekend 💮🦋💮🦋💮🦋💮🦋💮🦋💮
Tnx to U for sharing my dear ✔ I really enjoyed so much 🥀💖🥀🌹
Good idea. Do you have to let all the foam and soap run over into the sink when you top it off with water ? ;-)
@@PaulaCodo Did you ever try tilting the bottle and slowly filling the container ? :-)
@@PaulaCodo I am thinking about it. See the smoke coming out of my head ?
Did you do a price comparison ? How much cost for your soap versus cost from store for the pre made stuff ? I can get a 64 jar from Dollar Tree for... 1 dollar. Just wondering... is it worth it at that price ? Is your preparation costing the same, less or more ?
@@PaulaCodo It seems like it is fun to make your soap and will probably beat very expensive grocery soap. I would be interested in a video where you do the actually cost comparison... maybe many more would like that. Maybe.
@@PaulaCodo No charge
There’s an old-time product from India called “soap nuts”. They’re actually a fruiting body from a shrub which are high in saponin. Anyone try these? Perhaps adding these to the recipe might produce interesting results. Also, adding some mold and bacteria-fighting essential oil, like lemon, orange, or grapefruit seed might help fight odor.
Love using soap nuts!
I'm not sure I want oils mixed in with my clothes. To fight odor, I simply add a cup of vinegar to the wash. You'd think clothes might come out smelling like vinegar, but not at all. Towels come out cleaner and fluffier and regular clothes come out nice and clean. No odor whatsoever.
@@megatuanis
Lol. It reacts with WS and Borax, both of which are bases.
Try getting washing soda from stock feeder store.
Hi, came here from your washing machine video..pretty cool!
Quick question: if adding double everything to your laundry detergent, would it make it more concentrated and not so water down??
I have soil laundry from working in the yard,etc..not sure if this recipe as it stands will be enough to clean my laundry??
Thank u for a response. Much Blessings
@@PaulaCodo thank you for your lightning fast response 🙏
I agree with pre treatment but when you're in a hurry or have a lot more laundry to do, I was just wondering if there is a method to make it more concentrated?? I'm gonna try it your way...any savings is good savings or a penny saved is a penny earned!
Much Blessings 🙌 Fara
@@PaulaCodo awesome!!! Thank you.
I can usually find Washing Soda at Walmart right near the Borax. And I always have blue Dawn. Looking forward to making this - Thanks!
Thank you so much for this recipe.. I am definitely going to make it. I would just ask you how large the container is so that I know how much water to add to your 1/2 C. each Dawn, Borax, and washing soda, to 2 C. boiling water. You said to fill the container with water as last step... how much water?
I can’t wait to make this.
Do you by any chance have a DIY for fabric softener?
I love your videos and I love that washing machine!!!!
I've been using plain white vinegar for 2+ decades! Works great! Just use approximately ¼ cup or close to line on your fabric softener dispenser. Your clothes will smell fresh and it does not leave a vinegar scent on the clothes.
I wanted to comment on ur portable washing machine u can wash almost everything I had 1 u can put an extension on ur hose and it will drain into ur sink go to the hardware store they will help good luck
How many litres are the total product?
@@PaulaCodo thank you very much... You are awsome🙂🙂
Is this recipe a "low sudsing"?
Hello, yes it is💕💕
I made it the same day I watched it. Thanks!
Walmart has Washing soda and borax
@@PaulaCodo depending on your walmart it is tricky to find them because since people don't buy them all the time theres only a little section. They are usually all the way up top or all the way on the bottom shelf tucked in and it is hard to spot them. They run around $4ish.. dollars each and will last you a while since you only use a cup. I always make the powder soap form just to save space since I make a whole bucket for the whole year but your soap looks good and I will try it. Thank you. Have a blessed day 💜
This was so informative sounds like a good way of saving some money. Will try it. Sending good vibes your way from your friends at POSITIVE MIND DYNAMICS
She’s operating on wishful thinking.
Imelt my washing soda and borax in hot water and put the dish detergent in last
Hi, Paula...
This is one of the better homemade laundry detergent recipes because it adds a surfactant, the Dawn Dish Detergent. This will prevent problems found with using WAXY soaps. I just use a laundry detergent like Gain (I like the fragrance) and there's the surfactant, HE washers need it . Other benefits of a surfactant: 1) prevents towels from becoming non-absorbent 2) towels and clothes from loosing their fluffiness 3) and many fabrics becoming dingy and feeling heavy and limp. 4) For me, using a detergent doesn't much change my cost savings. I still save a ton of money and get a Safe Super Boosted Fragrant Liquid Detergent.
@@PaulaCodo
It’s very dilute. Like washing with plain water. 1/2 tsp Dawn/load…Like washing with plain water! Recipe is a waste of time.
That's crazy that washing soda is so hard to find in Canada. Here in the USA it's on the laundry aisle of most stores as well as Borax
Not positive but I think washing soda and baking soda are the same thing. If you get the arm and hammer brand, the are
no not the same
Washing soda and Botox are available at Walmart. I find it where they have laundry soap
Glass would be way healthier than plaastic
you are loosing ost of your dish liquid
All those bubbles that are going out is soap. That's a waste
