    After 3 months of my Jeep at the Dealership to get new hinges and the doors+hood painted from corrosion. I can finally put the protection film on. I hope Jeep gets their act together and makes the necessary corrections to take care of this. Who wants to spend $54K on a Jeep and 2yrs later it look awful.

    Thanks for this video Matt! I like taking care of my stuff the best I can. I think I will get some. I like supporting small businesses. Never gotten chipped door hinges. Only gotten chips on my hood and grill. One rock probably fling from my tire and hit my passenger door by the window. I already touch it up. I have a nice door ding on my driver side bed and a small ding near my passenger rear door. That makes me upset that this happen on a 3 year Gladiator.

    Matt, I thought I’d give a recommendation in my area. (Sort of). I’ve had a 16 jku hard rock for three years. Been watching your vids along with others and my wife got really jealous. Went to Rays jeep Chrysler dodge in fox lake , Illinois. We are from Milwaukee. Saw some of their inventory online and decided to check it out. Wife wanted earl but when she saw the 19 2dr punkin rubicon on the lot, she fell in love. It was already below market so no need to haggle. Long story short we bought it. They had already done the 2 doors and hinges prior to selling. We did notice later a couple hinges on the hood so we thought we’d take it in because it’s covered for 5 years or 50k for paint. Very important for your viewers. Get in before those timelines are up. So we went in with no appointment explained the situation and we had 4 people working with us. One woman (her name I can’t remember) was only in charge of paint warranties. She carefully inspected the vehicle and found areas on the hood and windshield enclosures that we even missed. She actually looked for the problems. Something you don’t find these days. I asked her what their process is for repaint. She said they do remove the hinges from the doors and repaint them both entirely, plus they use a gasket in between. The service manager said enjoy your weekend because he knew we were going away and told us to set up an appointment for repaint when we return home. Repainting is about a month out right now.
    So. To sum it up. Rays Jeep in Fox Lake Illinois(even though I’m from Wisconsin) has got to be one of the most responsive to this very issue. Honestly they do also sponsor a toys for tots parade of 500 jeeps every year and do a jeep giveaway. (maybe you could join us?) so they are very invested in the jeep community and want our business. So for this I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. Maybe they could also be one of your preferred dealers in your program. I absolutely have no affiliation with them but I have very high satisfaction from them. Take care and keep making those awesome vids. Now that the wife has a jl, we may be upgrading to a 24 grill in punkin from distinction applied!

    My only feedback, as I have done something similar with custom cut Xpel is that dirt builds up on the edges of the film. On white Jeeps especially it shows everything.

    • @jasonaverweg7014
      @jasonaverweg7014 Год назад

      This can happen. Another reason to replace them from time to time. Xpel doesn't have a film this thick though. The film we use is twice as thick.

    Won’t the front tires be more likely to throw up rocks than the rear tires? And the rocks would come up from the bottom of the tire……..so i would think the better placement of the protecting material would be more effective if placed on the front side of the hinge. Or make the product larger to cover the whole hinge cylinder. Or use 2 pieces per hinge.

    Honest question - Can 2-door hinges really take rock hits? It seems like it would have to be an extremely odd bounce or some absolute shit luck for a rock to hit a 2-door hinge the way rocks hit the rear hinges on a 4-door. The front fender flares (stock ones anyway) extend down pretty low; it's hard for me to visualize a rock coming up from there to a front hinge.

    • @jasonaverweg7014
      @jasonaverweg7014 Год назад

      The lower one is definitely susceptible. The upper hinge is less of a concern, but if you have wider tires it can still take a hit. Also, driving on the highway means you're also vulnerable to what vehicles ahead of you kick up.
