i think what messmer is trying to say in his dialogue is that "how can you consider someone who is stripped of grace to be an elden lord when you thought I wasn't fit for it" which makes me believe that he was banished from the lands between to the shadow realm because of something that he did which was considered as a sin by the golden order. basically he is kinda jealous of the tarnished as his ways were not appreciated by Marika but still she chose someone like us who is literally bereft of light
We don’t know that it’s Messmer speaking for sure. His mouth is never moving in the cutscene played with that voiceover. My initial thought was it’s Miquella in a flashback talking to Marika about her plan trusting the Tarnished to become Elden Lord.
@@cornthdl this was also my first thoughts. The only thing is that Miquella is credited as having a female VA and the voice we hear is clearly male
The Lion Dancer is going to steal the show as far as the boss roster goes, all the visual splendor of From's storied "corpse amalgamation" bosses, but with a striking twist that plays heavy into the lore of the old culture.
I have a heavy feeling that Fromsoft will get a lot of praise for the Lion Dance boss, when the game comes out..
from the snippet alone, the boss looks like an Animation Designer’s nightmare - having to probably articulate 3 different beings (rear-person, Front-person, Lion head) to all work together in unison. The animation of the boss looks incredible

I think you are on to something regarding Messmer. If Marika first stepped foot in the Shadow Land then Radagon wasn't really there so the lady in the painting may be Marika and had birthed Messmer with "The Old Lord" where then she betrayed him, became a Goddess and later met Godfrey. Just throwing spaghetti

The "leech" enemy is even weirder the longer you look. In some frames it looks like it has multiple faces, as if its eyes protruded from some sort of nose-like appendage. There's an eye then a ridge ending in a nose with an eye in it. Super strange.
I think messmer is actually talking about miquella since he divested himself of all things golden.
Everyone is constantly trying to say that Mesmer's flame is connected to destined death, but if you look at his flame as it's forming it actually resembles the Aberrant sorcerries and Dragon talisman, also his armor closely resembles the drake armor set.
My personal opinion, I think Mesmer represents all of the taboos that Marika and the golden order stands against, which is why that phantom NPC said "he is your unwanted child" up in the mountains, meaning Mesmer is Marika's unwanted child.
I honestly believe Mesmer is the progenitor of dragon communion, the lord of the drake knights, and the host of either the blood star, formless mother, or possibly both.
I also believe that Mesmer committed these taboos to ensure Marika's victory in the war knowing he would be condemned by his own mother for it, hence why he seems to still be loyal to Marika, but also banished to the shadow realm at the same time.
His situation seem to be similar to Morgot, loyal to his mother, but hated by her and everyone at the same time because he did what was necessary to win, even if it meant becoming a villain in everyone's eyes for it.

In the background of the wicker man shots, you can see the big pillar from the promotional material with Messmer on it. FromSoftware seems to be trying to obscure it along with the entire east and north sides of the map from us. There's also probably going to be an underground area we've only seen snipets of so far.
Radagon used to be some all-encompassing person. Then he ridds himself of everything non-golden, creating Messmer in the process. Then, as a Radagon of only the Golden of the Order, he is allowed to fuse with Marika to advance the Golden Order. Alternatively, Messmer is created/separated as a result of the process of Marika and Radagon fusing. Messmer is banished to Shadow Realm. Messmer refers to himself as the one bereft of light, sanctioned lordship over the Shadow Realm. Miquella seeks Messmer to gain some needed aspect of the original full Radagon.
God I hope this isn't the case. So convoluted.

Thanks! More traditional videos I feel more confident in producing, so it's nice to challenge myself again with something involving less scripting and myself on camera.
Messmer the impaler probably because he’s the one who impaled Marika with the red stake through her womb
So, really heavy speculation. But the lion dance boss immediately mylade me think of stormveil and the lird of storms. Hora loux having a lion, godrick being grafted, nephilli, and her connection to the storm lord. It helps that the lion dance boss uses lightning and clouds/wind. Maybe im wrong hut thats my immediate thoughts.
The "crows" or "headless corpses" in the possible death blight swamp look like the fingernails on the buried hand creatures in Caria Manor to me.
Something someone else pointed out in another video, above the wicker man’s right hip, you can see the head of a modern dragon sticking out.
We haven’t seen a single dragon in the trailer which is kind of surprising considering how relevant they were in the base game. I guess they wouldn’t want to add more of the same enemy we’ve already fought a thousand times.
I do wonder if dragons will have any significance in the land of shadows (besides the obvious connection with Messmer)
at 6.40 this the domain of the glome eyed queen, where she used to reside. the architecture also also linked to the same one found in the church of elge and twirling columns are similar in appearance and shape to the god slayer great sword. i think the the gloom eyes queen. also the trees found in the path to the castle is similar in type to the trees found farum azula which explains why the top piece is missing from the castle. i believe this area will have some links that connect the gloom eyed queen to the dragons as during during the age of the dragons death used to exist as we can see burial tombs in farum. but once the queen fell and the death was plucked out of the system of the lands between we got the new order of the erd tree and people became immortal never to die a true death
Loving the series dude, I do think miquellas rune is our rest points. We are not following Grace this time, we are following miquella and his footsteps and that rune is probably miquellas. There is no grace in the land of shadow from what i belive from the info we have gotten so far.

Saying it can't be part of the Elden Ring because there are no vertical lines is absolutely ridiculous. Have they not looked at Mohg's rune or the rune of the unborn? It absolutely could be his part of the rune 😭
I think his rune takes its place in the Elden ring next to Malenia's rune on the left of the elden ring, the strange shape of the rune is probably due to the distortion that each demigod has on their rune

I find it very interesting that the little double headed snake actually has tiny dragon wings...especially as snakes are considered failed dragons...is this a reflection of Mesmer? Really curious
Also I hope that snake will be part of his phase 3 xD
The great ruin/ grace thing looks a lot like the scythe the clean rot knight use this made realize they knight only use holy attacks not rot makes me think they served miquilla not melania
I wonder if the wickerman is using the fire giants pyromancy to burn eternally. Like they put 1 fire giant in each leg to make it burn non stop. I don't know if I'm right but that would be metal.

About Miquellas greatrune i havent watched the video all the way through yet so i dont know if this was said but rather the great rune being a site of grace or something similar to that i think its going to be a cutscene maybe before or after a boss just like with the rune of death so its possible that the person in the cutscene is our player or some type of greatrune protector boss and thats like the item were going to use to upgrade our character

@@LoreHunter yeah.. but it really helped with the countdown, to Elden ring being released! You had actual lore for the game.. even though some got changed. It’s what it is… still enjoying your vids, but there was some actual fact based theories before. On one hand, it would be cool if they did another trailer, or even gameplay footage.. but I don’t want to see too much! 😅 haha

i feel like Messmer could be part fire giant, that would explain the red hair, how he seems to be the oldest of the demi-god children and also his affinity for fire. He might be the missing link to the fire worship of the monks and their heretical imagery. Maybe Marika wasnt the one to kill them all, and it was Messmer instead and she took his glory after he was disowned into the shadow lands
There's nothing that indicates that he's the oldest of the demigod children.
@ALaz502 not yet, I've giving some leaning for the wealth of lore we'll get. We know Godwin is the eldest of Marika and Godfrey's children but there is nothing other than the naming pattern that insinuates that Marika didn't have children before Godfrey. But this is all speculation, if naming conventions match he is probably one of Radagon's 🤷

Maybe Messmer being granted lordship suddenly is similar to Godwyn’s son Godrick only being granted lordship from the “boon” of the shattering

In the gameplay trailer for the base game, there was also this character we see in the DLC trailer wearing the blue cape that uses in both trailers incantations but we actually never get the one she uses in the gameplay trailer from 2years ago (an incantation use by the Miranda Flowers like light pillars). Hope we'll actually get those pink butterflies shown in the trailer.
