Can’t believe this is a C! I always think it looks insanely difficult.
From 2017 to 2021 it was D rated and highly popular so the FIG dropped it back down to C in 2022. Its a fairly simple and low risk mount so C is probably correct; compared to other D rated mounts it's probably too easy to warrant a D.

I’m curious how a gymnast learns this mount.🤔 You can’t do it on low beam.
How do you learn it without scraping your face off or bruising your nose? 🙂
i’ve seen videos of people using a mat over the beams. it is a very thin mat.

The First time I saw this is was astonishing.. Everytime I see this it's still Amazing😂.Gymnasts have an inmate insane ability to judge distance combined with total courage and repetitive confidence..A lot of Gymnasts won't try this....guess you train with a goalie mask on😊.
As a gymnast who has teammates who do it they do with beam mats on top of it as well as a spotter who has enough control to protect you

i actually learned this mount when i was competing in college and let me tell you... it takes A LOT of courage, spacial awareness, and even a tape measure to be able to know the length of your normal backhandspring.
you'd measure the distance of your backhandspring from behind your heels, to where the bottom of your palms land. then youd learn to execute a back handspring by throwing your head back, first, then keeping your arms shoulder level, so you can catch the beam.
Me when i see any skill on beam: "this needs to be rated higher 😳"
they downgraded it from a D due to popularity I think
@@agneseditsstuff Which is also insane to me. I understand wanting more variety in routines, but they should find a better way to encourage creativity rather than downgrade or upgrade this or that element 💀

This is my favorite mount. It’s losing popularity though, but that’s natural since skills are cyclical.

How strange to say this mount is vulgar, what not good gymnasts use, or that it's not elegant! Beg to differ! Very cool: shows courage, skill and imaginative use of the beam.

This is my least favorite mount. Gymnasts that use this tend to not be good.
They shouldn't be callingef shorts they should be called edits because that's what people do
That’s the kind of moves that the ‘SISTERS’ create and master, which drives the sport to evolve,. the way that the Black athletes are causing track and field sports to do.. moves like the rolling ‘BACKFLIP’, that was created by a Black skater and then banned, because of it’s difficulty, for white skaters.
What about them people can just watch the Olympics or go to practice and watch them

Love the inclusion of Grace McCallum, but you missed MyKayla Skinner and Cristal Isa who both competed it while at Utah. Grace's inclusion while wearing a Utah leo is awesome. Let's include more NCAA footage and athletes.
I focus on elite gymnastics and NCAA rules are not the same.

Cristal was also elite until she went to the NCAA. The footage of Grace in your video is from a Utah meet.
I get the code being different, but elite or former elite athletes doing the specific skill you're covering should be included especially if they're doing it with better technique.
it's a 30 seconds short, obviously he won't cover every single gymnast that has ever performed it. You're free to do your own video with all gymnasts you wish to include based on your criterias, I'm sure we would enjoy it.
