    Burgoo has never been made with roadkill. It's a joke referencing the types of animals that get hit on roadways. Historically burgoo is just a stew that uses wild caught game. Your're talking about a dish that is hundreds of years old in it's roots, and has been "modernized" using pork beef and chicken or other farm animals for a long time. Calling that disgusting is stupid and culturally offensive

    • @MsSeeingeagle
      @MsSeeingeagle 3 года назад +6

      Thank you I was just thinking how stupid alot of these choices were. They ask why we use certain meats. Well don't knock something till you've tried it. Wild game in so much healthier than massed farm raised animals. Dang now I'm wanting a big bowl of rabbit and squirrel stew.

    I just recently moved to Florida from northern California and tried gator tail for the first time ever and loved it... tastes like chicken?.. nope it tastes way better than chicken could ever dream of tasting.. I don't fear alligators anymore.. I now look at them and wonder how can I get you on my dinner plate

  • @lesterforney6200

    Note: wild alligator meat has a fishy taste. Sometimes it’s delightful, sometimes it is offputting. Probably from the water that the alligator was harvested from and the dominant variety of fish they were eating. Farm raised alligator is always delicious. It must be prepared correctly otherwise it becomes very tough and chewy. It does not taste like chicken. It has a light flavor similar to chicken when it is farm raised.

    My moms chitlins are soooooo good! We break them and soak to clean, then change the water 3x while eyeing every little piece for fat, junk, corn, etc. Then they go in a crockpot with green peppers, red bell peppers, and onions. We season with Lawry’s seasoned salt and chili flakes. Typically, she lets them cook overnight and serve over rice with a side of cornbread. I like a little Louisiana hot sauce on mine
    I can’t think of anything similar, but their texture is slightly chewy/fatty and it’s a savory dish with a lot of broth… perfect comfort food after church. Typically, we eat this on holidays, so not more than a handful of times per year.

    Aside from the spray cheese there is nothing wrong with any of these foods, though the St. Paul sandwich is kind of weird. Eating animal brains is not a uniquely American thing, not even putting brains on a sandwich is uniquely American. Eating rodents and reptiles is also not unique to America, nor is eating stews like Burgoo. Seafood on pizza also not strange or unique. Bunch of spoiled little brats must have come up with this list, no other reason to scoff at most of these foods. But spray cheese is evil and should not exist.

    Wanna make a Sicilian style pizza - 2lbs of dough stretch out in a grill pan for an oven with olive oil spread on the bottom. Then spread some pizza sauce on and into a 400F oven for 15 minutes. Then take it out, re-sauce it and put toppings on and bake at 400F for 20 minute. Best pizza you'll likely ever have. `Oh and I did a contracting gig doing grocery scoring. As a native Floridian for over 50 years, I can attest to the fact that gators are not something you see everyday, everywhere in Florida. They are a native species here but, if you use common sense, (particularly during the summer mating season) seeing one will be a rare occurrence. If you do see one, stay out of its way and it won’t bother you.
