I was diagnosed with SMAS in early 2019 after losing 40 lbs. They told me it was anxiety because I was otherwise healthy. There was a time I could not melt an ice cube in my mouth without vomiting. I had to get feeding tubes and surgery to get healthy again but every time I get a stomach ache I still have panic attacks :( SMAS is so rare and scary. I try to talk about it as much as I can because 1/3 with this illness die. Cherish good health!

What was the diagnosis? This is what’s going on with me. They can’t figure anything out. On 3/8/19 I was finally told I have intestinal failure. I’ve dropped 21 pounds in less than 2 months this now I’m all bones. They have me on clear liquids so I’m getting no nutrition. I need help. I’m dying and nothing’s getting done.

Annette Smiley Talk to a very good Gastro Dr, and have him hook you up with someone that knows how to do this surgery to fix this for you. I have this. I am going to speak with Specialist about it ASAP my gastry doc called me today with the CT scan. CT scan will find this. You have to use Contrast Dye and also drink the stuff they give you. It will show up on there for sure. This is what you need to do. Good luck. I feel for you.
