Yeah, it kind of seems to me that the original was all about Johnny Mars guitar lead and he hands it off here. Nothing against them or him, but it’s like a tribute band and I’m thinking it really shouldn’t be that way.
Metal fan here. Marr is mind blowing. He's our generation's George Harrison, the man who everyone who knows how to play guitar looks up to because he's not showy, but he does things that make you go "what just happened there?!"
Nobody who's remotely sensible turns up to a Johnny Marr gig for anything other than the guitar. If you're going to a Marr gig expecting stellar vocals, you've missed the point entirely.
Shame Morrissey has revealed himself to be a monumental tw*t. Thankfully, the Smiths was always about Marr, once you realise the sheer complexity of his playing.
@@sammealor4564 I don't even think Johnny would agree with that. Morrissey may be an arse as a person, but he is one of the most distinct and nuanced voices in music. Last time I heard him live, he was spectacular. As a singer, Johnny is pedestrian at best and would go unoticed if he were not the guitarist in The Smiths.
@@CatherineNeal It's based on documentries I've watched and interviews I've read. Of course, it's probably an unfair judgment since I don't know the man personally. 😊
Dude, look up Morrissey's version of this, it totally sucks, his guitarists don't even attempt to play the famous riff. Johnny does it the way it was meant to sound.
@@Malto_Dextrin Alain Whyte is a great guitarist. But he was recently pushed out (again) Alain is probably better than Marr in many ways especially in his solo pursuits. I'll always love Johnny's playing forever and always.
I was there! ❤❤❤❤ Johnny F**King Marr Amazing!!!!!
Me too ! He was amazing!❤
Me too! Fabulous! ❤
That's a tough one to play and sing at the same time. He hands it off to Doviak once the vocals start.

Fair play to Jonny marr he wrote the music , morrissey wrote the lyrics and bless them I've a great tattoo of this charming man ❤
If Johnny sang like he played, he’d sound like morrissey 😂
I am a heavy rock fiend, but gotta say it, Marr is a riff meister.
nicely put

@@peterclarke7240 mad you saying that I’m just watching the back ent of concert for George
What?
JM smiling?
I'm alarmed.
This kicks ass. And the lack of racism between the songs is always a plus.

This song just needs Morrissey's voice.

It’s a shame that’s not true. Johnny sounds better

Good, but let's not kid ourselves, Morrisey's vocals are superior.
This was good enough that I'd not come away remotely disappointed, plus Morrissey is a wanker

Yeh but, Johnny is a better guitarist than Morrissey. Swings n roundabouts
Honestly I think Johnny's are better. Never liked the way morrisey sings.

Of course, Moz is superior. This song meant so much to me in 1984 as teenager.
Jonhnny don’t Sing” it’s dreadful. Keep to your guitar riffs pal.
Sorry he is not a frontman. Love him but NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Could be my nephew who's in show choir singing.
He's no Morrissey. And I know Morrissey. 🙄
Well, he’s no bigot either. So there’s that.
I'll take a supremely talented guitarist who can't sing but isn't a fascist over sad old "angry man down the pub" Morrissey any day of the year.
