I think about everything too much. I'm a sensitive little thing. There is no poetry in modern life. I feel pangs very easily. Nobody is that hungry that you need to take a life Of something that needs to live. You should know by now. In the dark you look like everybody else. I'm here with you and I feel quite safe. Shy-being reserved or having or showing nervousness or timidity in the company of other people. Yeh that’s Morrissey all over😁 I’m painfully shy so I know what it feels like
"I'm not glitzy" he said, as his many layers of necklaces jangled around over his chest, revealed by an open shirt, "I speak the words of ordinary people."
He was being ironic as he always is...and yes hes from a working class background but in 40 years he has also made money as he should that doesn't mean his songs are any less relatable , hes successful that's good not bad.
I believe he does, however will not straight up admit it. In Marr's Autobiography it mentions that he and Morrisey had met up on more than one occasion back in the early 00's on discussing a possible reunion. I feel that Morrisey is quite bitter over Rourke and Joyce.

He has the amazing mind of Morrissey in front of him . All Larry King can ask are pathetic shallow in-depth questions. Such a wasted opportunity to interview this legend.
I really don't understand why Larry is still seen as an amazing interviewer. His questions are random and quite boring, it seems that he doesn't even know who Morrissey is...
@@roseo9177 True. He doesn't investigate much, though. I would have liked a bit more insight here or there. Like how Morrissey said his songs are 'him'. Some of the songs he's written decades ago. How does he relate to that younger self? I'm not saying he doesn't. Just wondering how he does.
that comment is just Morrissey being Morrissey lol, the Smiths were very close as a band (Marr and Morrisey were literal best friends), there's just a lot of hurt/resentment from the breakup that he doesn't want to admit to.
For those unfamiliar, the question about "memory glands" shows both King's incompetence as an interviewer, and the ignorance of the person who asked the question. What I believe the person meant to ask was, "whose mammary glands would you like to get your hands on," referencing The Smiths' song "Handsome Devil," where Morrissey says: "Oh, you handsome devil Let me get my hands On your mammary glands."

Larry King is like a horrible therapist.
Yeah, kind of... well I mean, you're probably just kidding, but I for myself perceived him as being a little too comfortable to feel the eminent urge to stand up for the freedom of the individual!
Especially now that he’s died.
Well he is Jewish.
He’s has so much wisdom. He knows how the industry works. He doesn’t want fame, I like that. Most artists today that have interviews always mention fame. I LOVE The Smiths and Morrissey. Much respect!
"I'd rather be famous... than righteous, or holy... Any day, any day, any day..."
I compiled lyrics to a new Morrissey song using only direct quotes from this interview:
YOU SHOULD KNOW BY NOW (accidentally by Morrissey)
I am the forgiving kind.
It's a great failing.
I think about everything too much.
I'm a sensitive little thing.
There is no poetry in modern life.
I feel pangs very easily.
Nobody is that hungry that you need to take a life
Of something that needs to live.
You should know by now.
In the dark you look like everybody else.
I'm here with you and I feel quite safe.
I've been through everything and it's quite pointless.
It's not just a repertoire and I don't go through the motions.
I can't stand it, I love that song.
No yodeling. No alcohol.
No gargling. No juggling.
I just go on.
You could almost say, if you dare, that I'm happy.
You should know by now.
In the dark you look like everybody else.
This is absolutely genius!!

Brilliant!
I appreciate you!
“Sam smith?”
“I’d like to rapidly move on”
I love this guy
His voice is just as beautiful when he speaks as it is when he sings.
Yes I agree 👍 I love his voice...
i feel like his manner of speaking has drastically changed from when he was in the smiths vs after he left. it makes me wonder if he was actually just putting on a character, going against how he's claimed that he has "never performed". but maybe he was just going through a phase, who knows
@@diorsse Possibly, but he was also pretty young then, and I think he probably just matured a bit. Lord knows, I am not the same as I was in my early 20's, either.

He's wearing all those necklaces to replicate the jingly gangly sound of Johnny Marr's git-tar.

The first time I heard ‘Bigmouth strikes again’ my jaw dropped. Got goosebumps. Man...what a voice!!!

Larry King: "so you're not Smith?" It is that kind of preparation that made him a legend.
Larry King in epic form. "Your last name isnt Smith?" "Your cancer isn't stage 4? I've had friends who died of that."
@Langelier Fabrice that ole Morrison
The Smith, Solo Morrissey, and Depeche Mode were my teen years and still my favorites to this day. I got lost in their music when I was young. Always felt like I could relate even though my life was not horrible or depressing. Hate seeing them getting older, makes me feel my age. Plus all of their music just doesn't have that powerful angst in it like it did when they were all younger.

I agree, he's being humble
I agree they produced some of the best music, but that doesn't necessarily mean they knew what they were doing. Many of the greatest discoveries were by accident

A painfully shy man, deep and intricate. A man who is very comfortable in his art but uncomfortable in the limelight. He probably never expected the smiths to have had the impact they did but is living with the devotion that is alien to him. A very interesting interview!
Painfully shy lol
Lmao his comments and contrarian nature do not paint him as shy at all lmao
Shy-being reserved or having or showing nervousness or timidity in the company of other people. Yeh that’s Morrissey all over😁 I’m painfully shy so I know what it feels like
"I'm not glitzy" he said, as his many layers of necklaces jangled around over his chest, revealed by an open shirt, "I speak the words of ordinary people."
He was being ironic as he always is...and yes hes from a working class background but in 40 years he has also made money as he should that doesn't mean his songs are any less relatable , hes successful that's good not bad.

For those unfamiliar, the question about "memory glands" shows both King's incompetence as an interviewer, and the ignorance of the person who asked the question. What I believe the person meant to ask was, "whose mammary glands would you like to get your hands on," referencing The Smiths' song "Handsome Devil," where Morrissey says:
"Oh, you handsome devil
Let me get my hands
On your mammary glands."
Memory glands is a more interesting line.
