I don't give a shit about celebrities but I'd love to have a conversation with this man
He's absolutely humble while being brilliant. A very rare quality. Love Love Morrissey.
I hope this man knows exactly how much he is loved by all of us.
Hes really not
@@leonardobento1123: YOU AGAIN!! Troll! Why don’t you go away if you don’t like OUR MORRISSEY..!! You really are a CRASHING BORE!! 😵🙄🙄 yawn 🥱!
He’s an arrogant prick. Saw him live once. Never again. Thinks a lot of himself and shows utter contempt for his audience. First 5 min of this interview is all about how exceptional and brilliant he is.😂
Far too humble. He doesn't need our love, anyway, he relies on his ability to respect himself.
@@MarroniMusic that’s true enough :)
The man they couldn’t cancel. What a great interview. Here’s to the new album.
Well, in their estimation, they did. But, that's just the point-that should only matter to the brainless bulk of persons.
They can’t cancel a man
That cancels himself 😂
@@rexdinarocky He’s doing a rotten job at cancelling himself then if the current tour is anything to go by.
Real substance won't be cancelled
IS that why no real record label will deal with him anymore.
One of his best interviews in awhile. People want real artists, even if they don’t know it yet. The world is starving for it
Real artists don't exist anymore!
@@miketapazis1179 Not so fast! ;)
... like Mary Whitehouse
@@miketapazis1179 - There are many, Many artists that exist.
It's just a case of discovering them for yourself. 🙂
not really. unfortunately the younger generations don't give a toss about music anymore.
His commentary on 'diversity'... spot on.
Yep. F@ck the K.a.l.e.r.g.i Plan
Morrissey IS the light that never goes out.
He still looks great. What an absolute British Icon. We must cherish him while he's here.
I agree, he does look great. Although, it is kind of sad to see him aging as the years go by. I hope he is healthy and with us for many, many more years. The world needs him.
@@rhondaquintero7369 You're lucky to age these days with so many people dying before their time
@@benadams1661I wonder why? I didn't take it. Not one.
He remains one of the few public personalities who can articulate his ideas with cogent responses.
Honest, authentic, intelligent, unique, can't and won't be bought, controlled or silenced, deeply caring and compassionate, the absolute best lyricist and performer, who can comfort you with his songs even when and because they scream hard truths instead of churning out boring, same old mind numbing garbage that artists get away with. There is great comfort in knowing he truly understands the things in life we all have to endure. A realist with the ability to tell it like it is, at times cutting and raw and at times, poetically and at times, with his quirky and incredibly endearing humour. An articulate, handsome, reserved but powerful gentleman. Mozza, if you're reading this....I just love you 😊❤️
"I'm writing this to say, in a gentle way..." I once read in an interview that he doesn't like being referred to as "Mozza". "Makes me sound like a racehorse" he quipped. Otherwise, i share your sentiments entirely.
Israel bought him.🤫
Very well said!!! Here Here!!! 😍
Nicely said, there is hope
Use periods much?😂
I'm 72 and he's been my hero for decades. Passionate, compassionate and gifted beyond belief. I am reading his autobiography for the 4th time and it still remains fascinating. THANK YOU MORRISSEY
I can't forget the line in his autobiography "life was so much better when things were slightly worse"
@@jonjo220 Yes - just one of so many gems. And as a senior citizen I have to say - I was brought up not that far from the 'knife - plunging Manchester' of the 50's/60's which Morrissey describes. A damp terraced house, tin bath hanging in the backyard, coconut matting on the floors - and it was the happiest time of my life ! :)
In the book he talks about the Ben Gazzara film The Strange One. Should be seen.
@APOCALYPSE PEAKS What racist views? Evidence and exact quotes please.
I’m with you but four times 😮
Morrissey's sarcasm is taken wrong. The man can poke fun at the jabs at him and sarcastically agree. This is by far the best interview ive watched him do.
Finally, a decent interview where he isn't interrupted every 5 seconds and as always the Moz speaks his mind. Almost calming
the more the masses say they hate him the more i adore him. a treasure and i thank god he's still with us, working against the grain with an unflinching honesty and a unique insight.
He's a living legend. His genius cannot be silenced. ❤❤❤❤❤
He's matured, Genius?
He SUCKS!!
When Morrissey wore that UKIP pin supporting a far-right-wing and fascist political party on late night TV, on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, I felt betrayed. I thought Morrissey was an ethical person until that point. But Morrissey chose to side with the "England for the English" crowd. His 1990s song, "The National Front Disco", suddenly took on a whole new meaning. Being racist, or even being insensitive to other ethnicities, is bad enough. But, as a brown person (especially in the summertime when my skin tone darkens several shades darker), as a brown person, I can tell you that the fascist tendencies are far more problematic than merely being a bigot or a racist.
And Morrissey, next to Robert Smith and The Cure, were easily in my top five all-time favorite musical icons. I've seen Morrissey in concert so many times, hung out with opening band Sack at a poolhall after a Morrissey show in Fresno. They were cool, working class blokes. My cousin even invited them out to Denny's afterwards. So, I've been a huge supporter of Morrissey when people hated him for being a 'pompous ass' or whatever. But after the UKIP fascist propaganda on The Jimmy Fallon Show, I stopped listening to all of his music. After that, the only logical response is to boycott all Morrissey music, concerts, music streaming, all of it. We can't support our abusers. And rightists, fascists, anti-immigrant elitists are all abusers.
All of the previous warnings, people challenging his character flaws, all the red flags about Morrissey took on a whole new meaning, such as the 1992 Finsbury Park incident with the Union Jack flag and Morrissey featuring two female skinheads as a backdrop. How about the skinhead types featured in the "Sunny" video. Even the ambiguous lyrics of "The National Front Disco" and "Bengali in Platforms", now, didn't seem so ambiguous.
I finally had to admit that Morrissey is a white supremacist fascist, who cares more about some phony British nostalgia, which he is selling to uncritical fans, than he cares about human beings, than he cares about the UK providing shelter to immigrants seeking refuge from the economic and political disasters left behind by British and western colonialism and neocolonialism.
Morrissey made some comment about England no longer sounding like England anymore because of all of the foreigners or whatever...
Artists and poets and musicians, in my humble opinion, are supposed to represent the best of humanity. That's why I loved Morrissey and his lyrics and music. I thought he was brilliant, which includes being humane. But the Trump-like notion of MUGA, making UK great again, or MUWA, making UK white again, is lame... Like Perry Farrell said at Woodstock '94: 'We gotta mix it up! That's how we all love each other.' Unfazed by some boos, he replied: 'Ah! All you purists, you're gonna die off anyway.' Indeed. But some people seem determined to impose segregation and anti-miscegenation laws and fascist authoritarianism because, at the end of the day, that's probably the only way to preserve recessive genetic traits and colonial culture.
So, why are you here? (I can hear uncritical Morrissey fans asking...) So, I'm here to give Morrissey a chance to apologize for being a fascist UKIP partisan. I'm here to see if Morrissey will renounce fascism, or if he is still a narcissistic abuser, who gaslights his fawning, uncritical fans. But I scrolled through some comments first. Somebody said 'it's just the same old talk points.' So, I'm not expecting much personal growth from Morrissey. But I'm hoping for some sign of humanity.
Damn, Morrissey, too many sycophants have corrupted you. You need critical fans and critical journalists to be honest with you.
Okay, Morrissey, let's listen to what you have to say...

@@philmessina476 Wow that's a lot to digest. I assume you live in the UK so your impression of Trump is swayed by CNN or many of the other democrat social media outlets,Ha,you think everyone on the Right is a Fascist,Racist?Too funny. What's also funny was that Trump was never accused of being Racist until he became President.Hmm.One tidbit for your info, he had his daughter Ivanka and husband Jared run a program to help released inmates get a job, bank account, etc. and not go back to what put them in prison. Social Media won't share that. Does that sound racist? Our Country now is a Mess(US)Inflation was 1.4% when dementia Joe entered Office, hovers around 8% now, highest in 40 yrs.Gas,Food and Everything else Prices have doubled and tripled in price. Trump's strategy was to not rely on other Countries like Russia,China. You in the UK have learned what happens about not having a Strong Border like we have now. It's not about skin color. Stop using the color of your skin as an excuse of discrimination. The most successful race in the US?Asians, not whites and the Country is over 60% white. Have a good day.
@@philmessina476 I love him even more after reading that boring, nonsensical diatribe. Viva Moz! p.s. I'd say we'd always find you in the kitchen at parties.😉
What a brilliant and beautiful man. ❤
I love Morrissey. He is so pragmatic and speaks his mind. His finger has always been on the button with regards to social issues. He can see it, decode it and say it where most others cant and wont. His skin thickened a very long time ago way before he was famous. He doesn't care what people think of him. That's why I respect him and have been a lifelong fan.
you need a thick skin and you need to not care about what people think and then you have the backbone to stand up for what you believe in I think that's lacking in a lot of people and why you see so many people give in to the masses.. genuine people like Morrissey seem to be few and far between
You ar e totally right! Thick skinned people are going to make the world a better place. No kid gloves those things need to go. No wonder we all like toddlers. I know that if I’m getting offended by something someone said to me it means maybe I needed to hear it and there is something more that I need to figure out. It’s like how will we ever get anything right if we are all so self centered and ignorant. Someone needs to push us past a comfortable bubble we live in and start telling the truth. If people get hurt so be it. It’s not the intention but it’s good to opposition in life. How will we grow otherwise ?
This guy says everything I usually can’t find the right words to express.
literally, hes such a wordsmith
The adults in 🇬🇧 never forget an hero, but we are being treated like kids for saying something bad, the media love to twist & turn stories into their words, because of their egos & money ?
The Smiths could of been still going on if they had a singer who believed in being a democratic band, I don't think
we ever know the truth about Johnny Marr & Morrissey, because of the nature of Morrissey
Gary Numan, who had suffered from depression, also had many years of no records being played over the radio, years of awful reviews on his music, but the last few years been a reality star, still able to make music & keep his loyal fans is delightful
Just the same with Debbie Harry, (Blondie), will the 1977 & Blossoms still be making music when they are in their 60s+ 💃🏼🕺
I adore this man so much,,,,,, what a treasure to the world.
AGREE!!!
Morrissey is an original poet and a extremly rare breed.ive been a fan since 1984 seen him 6 times between the smiths but followed since 1990 as an icon. This artist will never be emulated in any sense.long live the God of independent music.true talent.
I just want to hug this man ❤
I already knew he was the most talented man ever and the best singer too but wtf he's ALSO so nice!
I love this man. He may say things I don't agree with sometimes, but that's fine. His music has been there for me and I'm happy he's still out there creating and speaking the truth.
What an absolutely brilliant interview, I didn’t want it to end. Morrissey has a quality that many other “artists” will never have- honesty. He has remained true to himself, his music and his fans. It was an absolute joy to finally see him on the 4th October and as a fellow Northerner it was great to welcome him back home to Costa del Manchester.
Morrissey, you are loved so much and thankyou for placing some sanity and intelligence in this very crazy world ❤️❤️❤️
He speaks from the heart.
Fiona is the most engaging Morrissey interviewer I've seen . Not easy but she made it easy.
@@amess0stuff89 I agree 👍
Fantastically worded Lauren, I’m here in newcastle and morrissey has played here a few times but I’ve also travelled to see him n I can honestly say it was worth every minute👍👍👍
Morrisey and Ian Brown. Great men, integrity and honesty
This is what a real human being looks and sounds like. They can't be bought with money.
Morrissey is ordinary but he’s also extraordinary
*- ordinarily extraordinary or extraordinarily ordinary -*
Yes.
He's not 'ordinary' at all...
honestly thinks he so so far from anyone else i've ever seen in the music industry. Truly amazing.
He’s an ordinary person with extraordinary gifts.
When a new Morrissey interview appears on RUclips, you watch it
Will not leave the house today 🖤
Morrissey has always been ahead of his time. He’s ethical, talented and real, so of course the world is afraid of him. ❤❤❤
I wonder if the Guardian newspaper will even give him an obituary.
oh please. he is just closeted queen who wanna get laid by skinheads. nothing new.
I adore this man. He is no phony. I do not agree with everything they he has said but frankly, does it matter?! Bloody brilliant musician. 🌹🌹🌹
What I loved about this interview was hearing just how god damned passionate Morrissey still is to be excited about making new music and trying new ways to make it re a new producer and three of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers which is such an unusual move for him. So looking forward to hearing Bonfire Of The Teenagers and whatever controversy it drums up and even more excited to hear the next album with Alain Whyte co writing with Morrissey again which is something I never saw coming. Long live MOZ!!!
Morrissey is truly inspirational
Protect this man at all costs!😭😍
He's so hansdome and so talented! Love this man so much he's fantastic.Mexico loves Morrissey ❤❤ and bake a cake
The "dumbing down of society" is EVERYWHERE Moz, especially in America. TV sitcoms, advertising, commercials and talk shows; music videos, the political world and news media. Fake smiles and fake laughter in front of all these cameras to no end, and yes dancing and celebrating to everything like we're all suppose to get excited and go with their vibe. Morrissey's people shun that sort of of manipulative behavior and we're more self-aware and independent from the rest of society and I'm very proud of that.
Best comment on this interview !!
“Diversity is a dreadful word” 👏
"Made by the people" I ♥️ it!
This man is SO very loved!
I could listen to Morrissey speak everyday for a thousand years and never tire of him❤️ He may very well be my favorite human being
Good to hear from him again, that was nice.
What a cracking interview. This is a man who is vastly adored & loved by endless amounts of hard-core fans who is very honest & outspoken who has throughout all these years stayed true to himself. Unlike many musicians he's never sold himself he's stayed true to himself despite getting endlessly censored due to his truth speaking. He's a rare breed. Here's to his new album.
well said. He is so incredibly honest and sincere, and his words touch your heart.
The most authentic man in pop music. Ever. Great to see that Moz has found someone he can trust in interviews. I know she's had his back for a while.
His performance tonight in Brooklyn was phenomenal. He and his band put on one of best the best shows I’ve ever seen.
I always feel so lucky we still have him 🙏🏻❤🙏🏻❤🙏🏻❤🙏🏻❤
Morrisey I saw u play with the Smiths in the park in NYC back in the early 80's - I was near the front of the stage - watching you dance with your flowers wearing an open shirt -- it was phenomenal!!!
What a stunning venue. Perfect Morrissey backdrop lol
“Bake a cake”! What a turn of phrase Morrissey has…have always had such a strong connection with him….long may he reign in his own special world 🤴
For me... He is like a SPARK of hope... those times... Sad and cruel time... Thank you that you are Morrissey...You were...And you will be in my life... Forever... Love from Poland ❤️
He’s right ,he is a rare person ,a real artist ,and nothing has been injected into him ,beautiful man .
So nice to see an interview with Morrissey conducted by someone supportive and not trying to distort what he is saying.
Bake a cake, classic line. Cheers Morrissey, lovely interview in a lovely setting.
A great interview. We need more Morrisseys now more than ever.
He's more active than ever, with such youthness in his energy but also wisdom in his words. Moz, your music and lyrics are always a caress to our hearts but we needed a interview like this, thanks sam and fiona.
For all you people watching the comments, we might dont know each other but i think his fanbase are like a big family...if you are reading this you are already my friend!
As we say in latin america, Jefe...I'll always stay TRUE TO YOU
God, I could have listened to this forever. 🙏
Wow how lovely to see Morrissey being interviewed,he doesn’t need radio or tv to promote him he was made by the people & still loved by the people look how well his albums sell.I saw him in Brighton recently what a great concert , I noticed that there were a lot of young people so a new generation is following him, his music will live on forever.Love you Morrissey ❤️
I was quite pleased and surprised that he has a huge following in the Mexican American community of millennials. And a number of them have canonized him. Ha!
I saw him in Brighton too, he was fantastic 😊
I noticed young people too, at his concert last night in Australia Melbourne. 3 young ones sitting next to me, such nice people, so in awe, vegan too.
Morrissey pandas to no press/medias and I love him for it!
Yup, he's not here to be popular... he speaks his mind, and that's why we love him!
He is a brilliant artist who’s songs have brought endless joy to my life. His wit is timeless
I've adored this man for decades 💕 A true artist with the gift of song💕🦜
Absolutely brilliant,Moz is a living lyricist and poet.
What he speaks is the truth. I never hear Morrissey on the radio and if I do it's normally the Smiths, and I regard that as different. Morrissey is such a big name, yet gets such little traction. His shows sell out yet you never hear him on the news. He inspires me to be an artist, and if I were to be, I'd never sell my soul to the industry.
Enjoyed that, thanks for being their for the animals Morrissey
He's Unique! In his music and in his social commentary. One of the greats.
Wonderful Morrissey! He’s kept true to himself and we’re still catching up… Thankyou Morrissey 😊
😮 I suppose it depends where You are to Start with whether Your Catching up ☺️
Morrissey is a treasure!
…WAS…
Saw Morrisey in Vegas and Ontario, Ca...both great shows... Hope to see him again 👍
What a wonderful human being, you just have to love him.
I met Morrissey in '00 and he was really polite. I expected he'd be aloof or rude but he was not.
What a beautiful soul! I admire his passion for music and life.
Nicely handled interview by Ms Dodwell. Morrissey is obviously very comfortable with her and speaks freely. Looking forward to the new album.
I adore this man 🩵🩵🩵
The most brilliant artist and human always. God bless Morrissey and the band.
The radio can try to ignore his best album ever. Good luck .
I pray they will come and tour the nordic countries anyday soon now.
love him for ever
what a beautiful and wonderful human 🥰
What a beautiful soul and a wonderfully kind man he is ❤
Moz is looking great and he is uncompromising in his views and his stance on the music industry. He is an absolute legend.
Morrissey is soo noble, smart!!! He knows thing or two about things
Wow, I never knew that decades and decades later more sees opinion about politics and the state of popular culture would be so right on and dialed in and in line with what I know is to be true, I just knew I really loved his music and really connected with him at a very young age. What a hero he is and a man to be honored
Amazing interview! Thank you, Morrissey, for the inspiration and love you’ve brought to my life and to those of your millions of fans!
He is the great light in this dark, evil world.
“I am ‘of the people’ ”, “Nothing has been injected into me, I assure you” - “the frustration is the blessing, I’m outside the gate, I don’t really have anything to do with the music industry” - he is and always will be an inspiration!
We got to respect the man, he's saying the truth and what he believes in without selling out
Wow, I could listen to him for hours. Never banal, such an authentic and genuine human being ❤
Morrissey is class he says what he likes and doesn’t give a stuff what anyone says about him , shame others in the business haven’t got his backbone .
“Nothing has been injected into me I assure you”
Ditto Stephen ❤
Top bloke Mozzer. Always was, always will be. A genuinely remarkable talent and extremely intelligent to boot.
Oh Morrissey, I still love you since 38 years...and I Will never stop. Living Legend, best Singer ever, best poet, best friend of my whole life because you never betray with your incredible style!
I was at the Palladium that night to see Morrissey. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. He, and his excellent band, are the best. He is a Gentleman.
Thanks Sam and Fiona, great interview. Morrissey is one of the few artists with a 30 year body of QUALITY work, with no unlistenable albums or second rate tracks that are need never be played a second time
Love him,love him,love him..Our Morrisey!
4:25 "Nothing has been injected into me I can assure you."
Based subtle dig.
The fact is that the public have an insatiable curiosity to know everything, except that which is worth knowing.
Oscar Wilde.
bless this man and his music
Morrissey, one of the most charming, intelligent, brilliant, true to himself person ever come out of the music industry.
Proud to be a (vegetarian) fan of his since the 80s.
We'll change the world mate, just a matter of time.
Brilliant interview. Morrissey’s opinions have always been true. He’s never allowed himself to be bought, which is a rare trait these days .
What a man!
What a gentleman...I'm so glad that he will never be canceled.
Superb interview, well done Fiona Dodwell. And to Morrissey as brilliant as always, glad the world has amazing artists like you !Cheers and can’t wait for the new album.
What a wonderful thing to watch! I haven't seen Morrissey looking so well in years. So animated here, endlessly amusing and never afraid to say what he thinks.
Sam, what are the plasters about??
And if Morrissey needs any backing singers for the next album...call me!
He doesn’t allow backing singers Johanna - reason why his guitarists over the years laid down a tonne of playing over the best pop vocal Britain ever produced 🎉
Good to have him back.
Who would have ever guessed that this chiseled Count was hidden inside that waif of a young man!
Great interview Morrissey is a legend
