  • Actor Brian Cox joins Mark Kermode at the BFI Southbank to discuss his long and varied career.
One of the most gifted actors of his generation, Cox has lit up the screen since 1968. From an early role in the controversial The Year of the Sex Olympics, to his charismatic Hannibal Lecktor in Michael Mann’s Manhunter and the unforgettable Logan Roy of Succession, it is an extraordinary body of work.
This event was produced in association with HLA Agency.

Having followed him since Manhunter, it’s great to see him become a genuinely popular actor.

No matter what film Brian Cox is in; good or bad,he's always excellent and according to many film makers, a professional on set.

Terrific interview. Great to see clips of Manhunter and Rob Roy...i love Rob Roy, and what a great actor Brian Cox is. Mark is also on top form here!

For the love of god, let this be the end of Kermode endlessly bringing up how much more he liked Cox than Hopkins!

When the ‘reality TV’ Big Brother was announced actor, writer, authority on horror and comedy Mark Gattis commented ‘it’s The Year Of Sex Olympics!’

1:23:48 I made a tumblr post about how much I would love this a while ago, and I just got a message saying that this question had been asked, and I'm absolutely buzzing!! I can't tell you how much this would make my life.
I also wish the Devil's Crown hadn't all but vanished from the face of the Earth -- every episode used to be up on RUclips, but about two years ago all but one got copyrighted even though it says in the very first one that they should be free for public use as they were BBC productions, and I can't find them anywhere else, on DVD or anything!!
If anything comes of this (and please, please let it) then hopefully interest would increase enough for it to be brought back or watchable some other way. Equally, if anybody is aware of somewhere that the Devil's Crown can be watched, please let me know, I'd be in your debt!! I wish I'd downloaded them all when I first watched it, but I hadn't imagined it would be scrubbed just like that -- preserving media is SO important and you'd think after the countless episodes that the BBC has lost over the years they would have realised that :(

I was enjoying this until the Trump bashing. Why do these Hollywood elites always feel the need to inject their politics into every discussion? I’m sick of always hearing that ‘Trump is sick and deranged’ from out of touch entertainers. Kermode works for the BBC a supposedly unbiased and impartial broadcaster ffs!
