How does Sheila Jackson Lee claim she is not against the Second Amendment and then, in the same breath, say the Second Amendment is about the militia?
In the Heller decision, the Supreme Court said, " The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home."
This militia argument is idiotic.
It's common knowledge the founding fathers didn't trust the government; they just fought a war against one.
Why would they then write an amendment giving power to the government to keep and bear arms?
If the U.S. government became tyrannical, "the people" would have to go to the same tyrannical government and ask for guns so that they could fight back against the same tyrannical government?
What?
That's like expecting a robber to give you a gun so you can use it to protect yourself against him.
Sheila Jackson Lee is definitely against the Second Amendment.
The MILITIA argument she made is that people don't have an individual right to keep and bear arms, which is the entire foundation of the 2nd Amendment.
The people come with their personal guns to form the militia to fight off a tyrannical government, foreign or domestic.
How will the people fight off a domestic tyranical government when they have to ask that same government for the guns they need to fight them with?
This isn't saving lives; it's about taking the most effective firearm that could be used by the people to defend themselves from not only criminals but an overreaching government.
Every argument they make for the AR15 can be made about any gun.
Do you think they'll stop at AR15s?

@@adrianjuarez1162 They say they aren't coming for the guns because of the grandfather clause. They say they only want to ban the future manufacture, sale, etc of weapons. So, with the ban, there will supposedly only be a finite supply of guns, already grandfathered in. But, in the details of the legislation, those guns cannot ever be given, loaned, bequeathed in a will nor in any way transfered to anyone else as long as the owner lives. They would probably ban parts, too, so you wouldn;t be able to repair your gun. This is how, within 2-3 generations, they would supposedly eliminate all AR15 style rifles......as the owners die off, the guns get destroyed.

My argument is we can't keep drugs out of prisons. No way we'll keep weapons from criminals.
they basically believe that, if we take guns away from law-abiding citizens, this will reduce the available supply of guns to the criminals since all guns, at some point, were legal. What they miss is A) there are 20 millon+ of these weapons in circulation legally, so any grandfather clause defeats that purpose and B) most gun violence is committed with handguns, so banning AR-15s won't even make a dent in the supply of handguns. If this argument doesn't make sense to you; thats ok because it is ludicrous.

It's amazing how often they claim interpretations that have been refuted. Even the idea that the Founding Fathers didn't intend it as individual right. Besides the Federalist Papers that have the very people that wrote the 2A saying that's what they intended, there's a 1996 essay that combines various documents and court cases showing the the right to bear arms has always been an individual right back through to the English law it's derived from.
And if it was never intended as an individual right, how many of the men that wrote it also served as President? Funny how that misunderstanding didn't get cleared up until 2022.

When you look not only at her history but that of those who backer her assertion to where she is now you realize that collectively the generate as much personality and brain activity as a head of iceberg lettuce not even Cabbage but lettuce. That's part of it. Unfortunately the other main part is the people, or citizens, have forgotten that civil servants are our representatives by election and "work" for us! They walk around accepting and complying with abusive authority rather than act upon the powers to remove and replace these tyrannical privileged politicians.

50 cal bullets take up literally the palm of your hand versus an AR15 .223 Remington or the 45mm NATO that could fit between your index finger and your thumb…..a quick Google search would have solved that. If a 50 cal was used at Uvalde, there would have been no identifying the victims period.
If the Second Amendment is about militia service, then "weapons of war" are EXACTLY the kinds of guns citizens need to own. What other kinds of weapons would be appropriate for militia service? Banning "weapons of war" as not protected under the Second Amendment makes no sense.

The constant use of the term "Weapon of War" is SO intellectually dishonest! Everything from bows, swords, knives, hammers, bats, hands and feat have been used in war for the longest of times, and majority of those are still used in war today... Firearms are not exclusive to war and never have been. I so wish somebody would say that during these hearings!
