Luke measure the window and buy curtains that are at least 1.5 times the width of the window itself i prefer twice the width of the window dont worry we have all done it xx
Luke for future curtains don’t waste your time ironing. Hang your curtains then get a spray bottle with clean water and spray them. It’s what we do in IKEA in the room sets when we hang new curtains and you can also do on bedding.❤❤❤❤

Oh my goodness Luke, you two are just adorable in the funniest way! I have never wanted to crawl into a video so much, so that I could help you with the curtain hanging saga! Everyone has to learn (I did in the 80's), we've all been there! I'm so looking forward to the gardening videos! Oh and Maggie's bowl is gorgeous! Well done Zara! I always buy eyelet curtains, no messing about and so easy to do, curtain rail up, then thread through the eyelet, done, I even managed to do it on my own, I love watching your new home becoming your home.
I buy the eyelet ones too, so easy.
You should get Mr C over to have a bash at your hob. You can Google hob scraper and Astonish glass hob is worth a try too... ❤

Oh, the joys of curtain hanging! I can’t count how many pairs we have hung and re-hung in our married life - and it never gets easier! Lovely to see you both - and Mags.

Curtains can test the most patient of people! They are a bloody nightmare. You are lucky Zara didn't throw the curtains out of the window, rather than hanging them!😂 As for the ceiling roses, there is a way of working out what size you need for a room. Be careful not to go too big as plaster ones are really heavy! X

When you have a curtain pole that is a bit long, just put one of the rings the other side of the curtain pole bracket...If you see what I mean. :)
I've got a blanket box full of curtains from various places i've lived, its never a waste of money, and you can make roman blinds out of old curtains even, so its never a waste. We've all done it! 1 and a half times the window in order to get a gather, just like the others have said. Lovely colour though!
Or you can take them to a dressmaker to make blinds or cushions for you. X

Ha ha, great to see you having so much fun 😂 I've got bubble wrap halfway up my "flasher windows" as a temp solution. Actually looks quite cool. Just cut it to size, wet the window and slide it on. Think that came from Mr C originally xx

Hello Luke, just wanted to thank you for bringing Eataly to our attention, we live in Suffolk so we come into Liverpool Street and so have seen it loads of times, but just thought it was restaurant and never paid it much attention! Hilarious, I had lots of accidents (and strops!!!) with curtains when first starting out and you were so supportive of each other it’s a joy to watch
Hi hope you don’t mind a suggestion, use the steamer on low setting tie the curtains back all down length of curtains to hold the pleats. Steam over the curtains as a spray of steam leave tied for a week curtains should then hang beautifully
If you don’t mind that suggestion, buy candles of the same height for the beautiful new candleholders. I don’t know if The White Company in the United States, I’ll check. Not near me.

Love Eataly will be in Bolgna again in February for a short break they have a combined bookshop, resturant, cafe and food store in the centre. Outside of town a huge food park known as FICO you need at least half a day to experience foodie heaven. Love Verona.

We bought a victorian 1 bed flat nearly 3 years ago & have been replacing all of the old features as we go. For the radiators Screw fix have some reasonably priced ones that look lovely. For decorative bits my best tip is to do 1 thing at a time otherwise you'll start to hate how untidy/ unfinished it is. Coving made the biggest difference for the cheapest price, b&q do a good precut coving set too. Goodluck!

Loved your trip to the shop today and love those croissants. I have a place way across town that has French pastries and sometimes I’ll go there and buy a couple along with pain raisin and a great baguette.
Love that candle holder, very nice glow. Cracked up over the curtain hanging… something I’ve been contemplating on buying for a change in my living room. Always a pain to iron and hang.

great vlog guys curtains are not always easy to hang when ironing best to use a damp teatowel and this will press better without scorch marks. always a joy to watch you both the different pasta looks amazing. love to you all xxx
You will get full window coverage if you mount the brackets for the curtain rod further out from the window opening.

I hate hanging curtains and have been hanging curtains for over 30 years and it’s one thing that’s never got any easier 😂. Hi you lovely lot. I was laughing so much as I also hung curtains wrongly before, its a learning curve. Zara dont worry about it, easily done. Yep definitely go for ceiling rose and cornices as they will suit your home. Food looked delicious, your home is looking gorgeous. Good on you bringng awareness about this illness.

You know curtains can be a nightmare and Zara it's good to strop every now and then trust me lol.
Have a strop walk away and then come back to it after a quick google a nd it all comes together most times.
You guys are doing so well you will be pros at DIY then it's time to try gardening skills that's very calming though good to calm even the worst strop.

I would go the Reclamation Yard route for original fireplaces, architraves & ceiling roses. Most of them have websites if you Google. The Wales one that has a TV show attached to it ( i cant remember the name) would be well worth a Google search. Way cheaper than high end London antique shops that will charge 4 times the price.
You need to move the rod that holds the curtain rod out further. The curtain can only hang as far out as these rod brackets.

When you’re in Verona, have a look in the markets for lovely tasselled curtain tie back cords.

Hi Luke! I wish we had an Eataly near us because I'd frequent their store often. We love trying different kinds of pastas, sauces, cured meats, and sweets. Italian food is just so good! I can relate with your curtain struggles. We're about to go through it this weekend ourselves since we will be looking for double rods to double up our curtains due to an arctic front arriving here in Texas this weekend. I'm not complaining though because we much prefer the winter weather compared to our sticky, sweltering summer heat. Stay warm in your neck of the woods guys & have a blessed rest of the week! Hahaha the ironing bit made me laugh! I also ironed new curtains the other week and my partner looked at me like a mad woman!! Safe to say, I gave up after 5 mins and also had a strop! Luckily they are fine now and less creased after being hung up 😂

I had to giggle when you said it was chilly out because here in Canada 🇨🇦 right now it is -33 °c with windchill and tomorrow is going to be -40°c. You should come for a visit but make sure you bring a warm jacket..😉❤

Hi luke great vlog as always, yep the curtain hooks r a right pain they r so fiddley so I try to get curtains wit the rings on the top they just slide on the polls so much easier & quicker, your food always looks delicious 😋 take care lots of love to u zara & Maggie 💞💞💞
You can get a pre-made ceiling rose at home depot, or any home improvement store. The curtain bracket coul be moved a bit further out
Yay another vlog
I think we have all measured up for curtains incorrectly and had to fiddle with the placement of the curtain hooks at some point in our lives. It's a right of passage. Lesson learnt. I think you are both doing a great job navigating all the 'first home projects'. 👍🤗🤗
Eyelet curtains are easy peasy to put up!
Oh, you also put one hook on the other side of the bracket! That keeps it in place and makes it hang right.

I grew up with those type of curtains and I hate them! Hate! I now only buy the ones with the holes that you put the curtain rod through 😂

Zara, that wasn't a 10th of what I'd be like if I was trying to hang curtains! I majorly lose it with stuff like that and I'm quite patient person too. I think you did rather well given Luke was filming the whole thing and was giggling at you! 😂

Luke & Zara, I have noticed that you have glass ceiling lampshades in your house with the white pendants. When we moved in to our house I bought those as they were inexpensive. I recently changed the plastic pendant fitting out for antique brass (mine was from b&q). It elevated the look for not much money. Just a thought if you aren't loving the existing pendant fitting but feel buying something else isn’t where you want to put your pennies just now .
You Tube is also my go to for things that have stumped me. My brother who lives in Lancashire wanted directions from the tram here in Sheffield to a real ale pub. He found a a RUclips video of a man who did a real time walk from the tram to there.
I was distracted by how amazing Zara’s rings are when she was putting the hooks in.

Those curtains look like a nightmare to hang!!! Props to both of you for figuring it out.
I enjoyed seeing the various pastas. I rarely eat long spaghetti but I enjoy the various shapes and colors. Amazon has a front loader door prop and stopper to help keep your washer door propped open but not in your way. When you placed your pillar candle in the gorgeous holder I thought It might be nice to place something colorful in the void around the smaller Pillar candle base. For Valentine’s Day you could use pink and red flower petals, green stones or marbles for March etc. or just white items if you’re not looking for that pop of color. I always enjoy your videos, thank you for sharing parts of your lives and Maggie’s.
