It does blow my mind how it took *twenty years* for the western side of the playerbase to ban him while Japan saw the stupidity he enabled and banned him with the quickness.
The "human will" to tolerate a stupidly broken character for multiple years.
This is also in the context of the online meta. We didn't get a lot of info on active stand users until the wiki started translating the Japanese info.

The western side of MBAACC has left Archetype Earth unbanned for years and she is straight up a boss character. I think the western side has a higher tolerance for BS.
It's perfectly balanced, as western Yugioh has Maxx C banned while eastern does not

It's funny how Rubber Soul completely breaks all conventions of viability in HFTF.
You start with a top-tier, size up his sprite to make him a bigger target and make almost every single move worse than the OG.
"Does he at least still have good mobility?" No, in fact he has the worst in the game.
"Is he at least still the same archetype?" Nope, he's now a Passive Stand character, a trait so bad that it instantly dooms lesser characters to low-tier trash.
"This sounds terrible, what DOES he have?" An insane counter, one fantastic Super and one pretty alright one, a Throw so good that he's a better "grappler" than Joseph, and the best Guard Cancel. And it turns out that even mostly-worse versions of Kakyoin's moves are still really damn good.
...also he has some absolutely primo taunts, which is huge for the mental game.

These are the words a person hears before getting conceptually eradicated.
Rubber Soul was always a pretty funny character in the manga. He was probably one of DIO's strongest servants--certainly top five at worst, possibly only outclassed by Vanilla Ice and DIO himself--but he was a total jobber because he was such an idiot. He could have killed the entire Joestar Group with ease, if he hadn't insisted on being a sadistic jackass.
Incidentally, the fact that Rubber is taller than Kakyoin is right out of the manga. Yellow Temperance gets bigger the more matter it consumes, and Kakyoin had gotten visibly taller by the time he revealed himself.
Ah, so he was the originator of the Okuyasu problem of "INSANELY strong but nerfed by being an idiot"
@@TerumimiHonestly yellow temperance is such a big threat that you put him in any story. He's easily the main antagonist or villain, especially with his abilities
I need to read a rewrite of Stardust Crusaders where Kakyoin just airdashes from Japan to Egypt and cheeses out Dio in a corner.
It is so insane how Pet Shop isnt the top anymore, he has always been such an incredibly infamous character, but then it turned out Kak is even better.
It's just easier to look at Petshop and see that he is busted, Kak takes a bit more time to see it
Just like the Chun Li and Yun situation, where Petshop/Chun Li can get more consistent and easier reward while Kakyoin/Yun needs optimization. But if you get past the barrier, everything is a winning matchup.
But still: Khan is the best character
A character so nice that the developers made him thrice.
I love how fighters like these tend to have t flavors of the protag but here we have 3 kaks, 2 polnareffs, 2 Dios, 2 and a half Chacas (if you count B.Pol) and 2 distinct Josephs

Kak's like a celebrity trying to go undercover. Just put on some shades act slightly differently and hope it works.
Rubber Soul does have one of the faster rolls in the game so it's something to think of in neutral. His wake up is also the second fastest in the game so he can slip through oki more easily.

Have you ever considered doing a video covering the the forbidden unfinished/non functional/story characters (N'doul, death 13, boss vanilla ice, tower of grey, jacket DIO, etc.) And why they are banned/no one plays them.

Tower of Grey is really bad, but I don't see why litterally no one plays them since it's not like they crash the game or something. I think it would be interesting to learn why all the forbidden goofy goobers are banned.
N'Doul is a boss character that dies in 1 hit, but is the most broken zoner when given control to a player.
Death 13 is unfinished (he still has a Touch Of Death despite being very VERY limited, I love this game.),
Jacket Dio can't crouch and thus cannot access to crouching attacks. There is a mod that gives him full functionality if you need that. (He also has S tier drip)
Tower Of Grey is a towering pile of grey pixels that shares moves with Jotaro.
I have no info on boss Vanilla Ice though.
funny how khan is the only char specifically coded to be able to break nets with any move (even with just his feet). its like a little buff the devs gave him cus they knew he would immediately die

The amount of times I've watched MrMix talk about this JoJo fighting game is very numerous by this point and yet, I still am gripped by his commentary and breakdown every single time. This goes for any game and character he covers really. MrMix, honestly one of my favorite fighting game breakdowners, up there with Big Yellow. Keep doing what you're doing, dude. Love these videos.

2:14 vanilla ice has something similar on his 2a where you can cancel some recovery by walking, it lets you get 2A 2A (microwalk) 2C at the end of tandems for hard knockdown
New Kak is also one of only two active Stand characters added to Heritage for the Future, the other being Vanilla Ice (and both are just clones of other characters already in Venture). All other newcomers are passive Stand users.
I love how in-canon Kakyoin, while still a strong Stand user, is far from being overwhelming due to a lack of close range utility. Thus, he’s easily dispatched by Jotaro and Dio in the major fights he participates in.
So in this game the devs decided our boyo deserved better treatment and created the most insane, absolutely unstoppable demon. Honestly I respect it.
Kak in this game is just Capcom going "vengeance for Kakyoin"

I ADORE Kakyoin's animation, the zesty flare with which he does even his normals, and how he has randomized poses for Emerald splas and his taunt and how EVERY SINGLE ATTACK HE DOES allows you to stay in that pose animation however long you want and the way that Hierophant Green glows dark and bright all the time and the dynamic zigzagging way in which he does his long range attacks and how he CONSTANTLY SPARKLES IN STAND ON MODE and how you get to fully control HG's tentacle for his super and he has a RAGING DEMON WHERE HE JUMPS INTO HIS ENEMY'S HEAD AND BRAINROTS THEM😂

This video is perfect because I just picked up NewKak a couple days ago but it was hard trying to figure out his gameplan and differences from the original. It can be hard to find good info for this game, especially if your character is "unpopular." Anyway time to go back to spamming s.2c from fullscreen

New Kakyoin, AKA Balanced Kakyoin.
So i guess it's time for another random ASBR comparison
Kakyoin isn't a character I'm all too familiar playing as, but in ASBR, he's actually top tier, or at least high tier compared to the rest of the cast too (I guess the fighting games really like him with how good he ends up being lmao)
In Stand Off, he can play keep away really easily with Emerald Splash, along with a trap move that's meant to replace Net I believe. It's definitely not as overbearing as you make Net out to be, but it's useful for oki and messing up combos, since it sticks around even after being hit.
In Stand On, he has gets an upgraded Emerald Splash that he can aim in the air with, as well as Stand Rush back into Stand Off. He also has a really silly command grab that reaches extremely far.
He doesn't have an air dash and is pretty slow and floaty, so he's kinda like Dhalsim in a way. His health is slightly lower than average, but not the same tied lowest that characters like the animals and vampires have. As a little sidenote, his 2OM Emerald Splash is def when one the best looking supers in the game personally.
Now we got to experience the full ''Busted Cherry boy'' and his rubber copy, look out for those nets!

Also, if you’re ever going to do a “most unique characters” vid, I’d suggest Asuka and/or Happy Chaos from Strive cause I’d love to hear what you have to say on them. Especially HC since he’s only playing with like 4 and a half buttons.
I remember playing HFTF back then during 2016-2018, then I returned for a bit around 2022 out of curiosity. Imagine my shock when I see this character who used to be in pretty respectable tiers suddenly skyrocket all the way to the very top, and sometimes even banned. Just goes to show how much potential we can discover in a character if we put enough time into em.

7:34 Capcom really loved doing the flashing lights a lot for a ton of their games. I'm surprised they never got any complaints of people having seizures playing their games.
Not only Jojo's, but SF vs X-men had a TON of flashing light effects. Hell even Phoenix Wright games overuse a lot of flashing light effects in the old DS games.
I just kinda assumed that Kak was better than Petshop just due to having a winning matchup vs Petshop, but I never dove super deep into what made Kak good. I appreciate this video.

i wonder why they decided to give new kakyoin so many direct nerfs compared to his original. by all accounts, he should be stronger, but they nerfed him so much.
new kakyoin isn't in the original version, jojo's venture. i haven't played either game but i wonder if they thought kakyoin WAS too strong and instead of nerfing him into the ground they left him OP and offered new kakyoin as a "fair" alternative.
which would be funny considering he's supposed to be "kakyoin that overcame his fears," but i guess shades kakyoin being worse and dying faster is also true to the manga.

Also "The Kakyoin who overcame his fears" does fit, as in despite having gotten weaker and not having the same reliable tools he had before, he still puts his life on the line for his friends.

Id say the most broken thing about nets is his free 50/50 oki and camping/defending. He has some of the best turtling in the game with net, if you don’t break the net/use a stand attack then you can’t pressure him at all on block, since he will get free punishes on you just as long as he blocks your attack, and can make some matchups nearly unwinnable if he gets a health lead and decides to camp your ass for the rest of the match

Nkak has never been remotely considered bottom 3 so no clue where you got that from. Rubber was only "bottom 3" according to the weird japanese mu chart at the time which the vast majority of (relevant) western players disagreed with, so he wasn't seen as bottom 3 either
