The word is out that it's your birthday, so Happy Birthday!🎉.. and wishing you many more.. Having a shallow draft vessel sure comes in handy and opens up many more opportunities for where you can go
I saw your shanty boat yesterday on Facebook A fellow looper took your picture i.e. Sully on the loop (Dreamer) You are making good time. Best of luck to you and a safe trip.
Shanty Boat..lol..beautiful craft (I mean i love all boats seriously cool what people have done with very little..amazing actually and where they have gone with them is probably even more amazing) I am sure the Hubbard’s would be loving your boat! Great tradition and I definitely see your point..definitely can be in areas a trawler couldn’t even imagine.. Happy birthday man!
I sold my pontoon boat several years ago it was an 18 foot. I used to beach it the same way and when I got ready to leave, I would put it in reverse just slightly above idle and walk to the rear and the weight transfer would do the trick almost every time. I like your shanty boat set up, as it does make a lot of since to keep it small with a shallow draft to get into the skinny water. At the present I have a 96 year old wooden trawler that's been restored except the engine, an eighty HP ford diesel with 2200 hours. I want to put a new Beta marine engine and gearbox in it before calling it ready. It drafts a little less than 4 foot and you have me second guessing this as an ideal looper boat. Happy trails Brenton and keep them coming.
You unbeach (if that's a word) that way too ;) 4 feet is pushing it in my opinion. At some point, you become at the mercy of the marinas if you can't slip into low draft no man's land
Pirates? Wavey's rough mates for sure. If you see them carousing and singing "Yo ho ho on a dead man's chest" you're in trouble. Apart from that, excellent work as always my good man!
Thanks for sharing info on great spots to drop the anchor. I much prefer to find secluded areas that are quiet with very few or no homes. Wooded natural areas are great as you get to see all the wildlife. I enjoy waking up to the first sounds of birds chirping & singing early just before day light. 🌄 🐦 ⛵ 🤗 🐬
Looks like it’s your birthday Brenton! WOO HOO! Have a blessed and wonderful day! Loved your video. Such a lovely way to start the day. Big birthday hugs from me and the kitties!
Some people are EXPERTS and love to Pontificate and others just do it and share their life for the Newbies! That is why I love yer channel. Good intell on sand/backing in reverse.
Gunk Holes the only way to go here in SC either on the lakes or the intercostal there thousands of spots that you can hide out in forever. When I sailed with my old friend on his 36 Shannon S/B that drew 7ft we still managed to find some pretty good spots but it would have been so much more fun get out of the weather. Well at least the world is not watching you in real time so you still maintain your privacy and share your adventures with us thanks so much.
Happy Birthday Brenton, I hope you and Wavey are having a great day! I’m not too sure about the Beagle Barge, as I’m sure it weighs quite a bit, but when I was just off the beach with my stern in deep water, if I walked towards the aft of the boat, it would help pop up the bow for backing off the sand.
As I expected the part of the trip is not even close to the Ky Tn part. Sure be glad when you exit Florida and start back north.having lived in Florida I’ve saw all of it I ever want to see. Just wall to wall people and people letting the clock run out.
That's a great question. For now, until I sit down and go over records and such; I can tell you we burn about a gallon an hour at hull speed, which is 4-6 MPH depending on conditions.
Since you were in Pirates Cove Wavey was doing her best Captain Morgan when she was putting her one leg up in the dingy. And you've convinced me that yes, shanty boats are the way to go!
Interesting tid bits on getting it to back up. Hope you had a great birthday!

Thank you sir. It looks like all the pirates were elsewhere during renovations ;)
Happy Birthday Brother. May all your cruising days be CAVUL

Those are the best spots. Not easy to find in most of Florida

That wouldn't hurt. I've also stuck it in gear and got out and pushed, then jumped on! Not advised ;)
@@brentonsriversidehermitagebeen there, done that, there was some swimming involved!
That little double ended sailboat in there is a Frances 26, and it draws 36”. I know, because I built one 40 years ago 😊
have a Good and safe birthday my friend

One of my sisters lives in Lillian Alabama near Perdido Bay

You're not wrong. It is wall to wall people. You'll see a lot of that in Florida videos coming up
Could you tell how much fuel you have used since you started. Just a ballpark figure.
