We are life long boaters and really enjoying the innocence of your show. I'm getting a great laugh at your complete lack of proper nautical terms, it's very endearing to an old salt. It's great to watch you guys figuring it all out. Most we know saved for years to be able to retire and do the loop. Our question is how are you paying for this trip at such a young age? Maybe you could do a show on introducing yourselves and what you did to be able to do the trip.
yes, the Young-uns of today FREQUENTLY adhore rules, reading of RULE books, and are cock-SURE that whatever spills from their mouth(s) is ALWAYS correct! If you mention any of those rules or cultural conventions, you will be lectured that you are OLD and IRRELEVANT quite frequently!
Y’all have such a great attitude and are open minded to learning you’ll pick it up fast. Keep doing you and don’t let the comment trolls get you down. Everyone started fresh at some point and some have never done it at all. Looking forward to the journey
My wife and I think what you are doing is awesome! We have been living vicariously thru folks like you on RUclips. We want to motor our Hatteras from Baltimore to the Bahamas via the intracoastal. We are 60 so you guys have a head start. We look forward to following your adventures. Stay safe.
I absolutely love your honesty of it all! Learning is a huge part of the journey and adventure! And you both handle it with such grace and a little humor too!! 😊.
Well done, leaving the dock wasn't bad and I thought it was excellent how you both kept your cool even though I could tell you were stressed. I remember my 1st time departing from teh dock and returning in my new boat, you two did much better than I did. Keep up the good work, think before you execute a move and keep up the good communication and you will be fine.
Reccomend you have a training day with a certified captain like Capt Chris .Its all good on calm days ,when the weather comes up things happen fast.Good luck on your adventure.Another thing to check is comms, you can ask any boat for a radio check .Channels 71,72 .Look up VHF channels and keep a list handy .
Recognized the t shirt from Joshua Tree State Park. I spent several deployments to 29 Palms for CAX. I think you did fine dealing with a new experience. The most important thing is to learn from your adventures. It takes years to learn it all and even then something can happen that you haven't planned. I love both of your attitudes. It'll take you a long way in life. I read other comments and one great recommendation is purchasing a set of "marriage savers". Eartech is one product. (Sorry if I spelt it wrong.) Semper Fi.
It’s always stressful learning to operate a large expensive boat. There is so much money on the line! 😂 At least there weren’t any other expenses boats next to you while you were trying to figure out your dock lines. Keep your cool and always apologize if you act like an azz! Can’t wait to see you guys do the loop. You’re living my dream. God bless!
Good job. You both have good decision making skills. Not filming at the end in favor of safety was a very good idea. And yes, the other boaters are trying to ram you.
Definitely loving the the videos! Although you guys did a great job in a stressful situation, my personal experience from learning the hard way is always talk through a plan before dropping even a single line
you done good, anything that doesn't sink the boat is a good learning experience .... I would just like to suggest you trade in those flip flops for something else, the chance of them catching on a line or the gunwale when racing around the boat is too great... save them for relaxing and watching the sunsets..... stay safe, Tim and Cat
I agree with jascan1489, don't tie the rope to the pole but run it around the pole back to the boat. Makes life easy. Anyhow you did a great job. The first time I did this I fell overboard in the water (which is cold in Holland 😂)
I am so excited to follow yall. It’s my dream too to do the AGL. My wife and I got married at 19 and 20 and had kids right away. Our youngest daughter is in her first year of college and I’m now retired from the Coast Guard. Now the itch to go is really hitting
Love the trawler, how is the noise level inside the cabin while cruising? Can you have a conversation? The Lehman is super reliable and will last for years to come. I’m curious to the trawler lifestyle as I have a 30ft express cruiser with twin gas engines and underway it’s loud but still able to have a conversation while raising voices.
Congrats on the completion of the first solo cruise! I felt your anxiety leaving the dock. We've been there ourselves quite often. Thanks for your honesty in including it. You definitely need to prioritize safety over filming. I've had to do that multiple times. It might help if you had a stationary place where you could put the Go Pro, press record and forget about it. You may already have that and perhaps you didn't have time to set it up. I'm looking forward to following your next steps. Do you have an idea on when you'd start the loop?
Nicely done and thanks for reminding me about my 1st boat and her handling (or mishandling). But I gotta know where the "wonder bar" shirt came from. Priceless. And. When do you start your actual loop now that you can float?
How do you guys like living on the Europa style? I have a 36’ Tricia in and love my full aft cabin but I’m always envious of Europe’s with the huge aft doors! Do you feel cramped in your v berth?
I have friends that live in the mooring field south of the Palm Beach inlet. There's an eccentric guy who lives aboard there known as "Naked Steve". Guess you didn't see him.
Well I'm looking at your first trip four months after. Please put a life jacket on the dog. All the time you are underway. She may not be able to swim untill you get back to he not if but when she falls off. I have a Portugues Water Dog with swimming titles, who wears his jacket when we were undeway.
Please take some lessons. Get a Capt. to help you learn some of the basic skills like throwing and cleating lines and how basic things like bridges work. It’s okay… we have all been there. But please get instruction before you hurt yourself or someone else.
When you tie to poles like that, run your lines from the boat, around the pole, then back to your boat.
So you can just untie and pull your lines in.

From a comment on another channel : "Any docking you can walk away from is a Good docking. If you can reuse the boat it was a Great docking." =)
Well done!!!! You guys are going to do amazing!!!!!

"& I got a haircut😁" HAHA
Congratulations on your first trip. Great job.
You should follow Scho and Jo and see their epic Great Loop adventure!! They are phenomenal!!!❤

Thanks for watching! Hopefully we only get better & smarter from here!
Finally something on RUclips I'm actually interested in watching!!

Love that you just do what has to be done and dont argue. Great job! Looking forward to your adventures!
At 70 years, I'd rather be "Young, dumb and naive" than "Old, bold and Naive" which is what I am !! Great video !

I saw great suggestions for looping lines over the stern pilings. You can also leave the rear lines on the pilings if they are not required.
Good job. You both have good decision making skills. Not filming at the end in favor of safety was a very good idea. And yes, the other boaters are trying to ram you.
Thank you!
Definitely loving the the videos! Although you guys did a great job in a stressful situation, my personal experience from learning the hard way is always talk through a plan before dropping even a single line
Thanks for watching! We definitely learned we need to discuss a plan before dropping any lines
@@navigatingnietzels happy to watch and can’t wait for the next video!
The boat is beautiful, but I would recommend a twin screw for your next boat. They are so much easier to control in tight areas.

You guys were in my part of town been living in Delray Beach for 21 years and Boca the rest of the time.
Reminds me of my dads old 34 Marine Trader Trawler. You will find a lot of boaters are NOT courteous especially when overtaking a slow boat.
ENjoyed a bit of the chaos - loving watching you learn.
The joy of boating. Great job.
Definitely also recommend you get what people call marriage savers! Their headsets so you don’t have to yell to each other.
Thanks for sharing your newbie struggles, you will, learn as you go, read lots watch RUclips etc. Best of luck.

Your next purchase should be a good set of headphones. Makes docking much less stressful.
Man the rope issue was giving me anxiety. Im happy you are getting it done !!

"Should we log engine hours?" -- Log everything. Especially maintenance related data, servicing, repairs, etc. Better to log too much than not enough.

Thanks for following! We hope to start January 2025 or so
The shoreline for west Palm in not a no wake zone. Recheck the signs. Only no wake around marinas and manatee zone during certain periods of the year.
Congratulations on the maiden voyage.
Thank you!
Good Job !!
Thank you!
Nicely done and thanks for reminding me about my 1st boat and her handling (or mishandling). But I gotta know where the "wonder bar" shirt came from. Priceless. And. When do you start your actual loop now that you can float?
The wonder bar shirt is from Austin, TX! Funny you noticed. We are hoping to officially set off for the loop in January 2025!
How do you guys like living on the Europa style? I have a 36’ Tricia in and love my full aft cabin but I’m always envious of Europe’s with the huge aft doors! Do you feel cramped in your v berth?
Found your channel, subscribe d,wondering when you plan to start the great loop?
Is she a Marine Trader? Did you buy Pivot?
I have friends that live in the mooring field south of the Palm Beach inlet. There's an eccentric guy who lives aboard there known as "Naked Steve". Guess you didn't see him.
I’m going to be sure to watch your channel….even heard of the Keystone Cops ?
Until next week….
How can you call it a solo trip when there is two of you on the boat....
Use the pilings as your friends. They are there for that reason.

Grand Banks are beautiful boats!
Oh God I can't take your voices ahhhh
Solo...? How about duo...
I can't stand these two
