The second Matt Hardy teleported I thought of you Jim
I thought of him when Jericho started talking to Vanguard 1.
Jamie whites can’t say bro? LMFAO they basically started that shit, what are you on
@Jamie bro
@Jamie You want evidence of a white guy inventing the word "bro"? Dude we are in a pandemic, isnt there other things to worry about?
Jamie Get off your soapbox because ain’t nobody listening to you. No doubt in my mind you’re not even black but just a self hating white who thinks they’re “woke”. People can say bro if they’re white, black, green or purple. Who are you to tell them they can’t. Simp!
I knew Matt Hardy's insanity would mess with Jimmy Cornette.
....I thought the 2 did great.
@Metropcs Metropcs No he will keep going with Broken Matt Hardy in AEW and if you don't like it you had better start watching something else.
@Metropcs Metropcs he's very horrible and takes away every bit of seriousness he had as team Hardy or V1. Broken Matt is garbage
@Metropcs Metropcs Time for you to watch NJPW,NWA Powerrr,Impact or ROH.
Great advice to all professional wrestlers. "STOP GOING OUT OF YOUR WAY TO BE NOTICED" Lol

Don’t know why they’re surprised that Jericho is involved in this when he was a big supporter/fan of the Broken Universe.
So Cornette had no problem with dressing Batista as an Atlantean or watching The Undertaker as a deadman monster but Matt Hardy's gimmick is unrealistic?! Matt's taking Sullivan's Prince of Darkness even further! Toldja, Mr.Cornette's selective memory strikes again! U want "realistic"? Try ROH, if they're still on television!

Pulsar Stargrave Matt can’t even compare to Undertaker. Tells you a lot about how much he made it work that he’s been that gimmick for 30+ years
The best part was Jericho's hair in the still-shots, his hair was blowing in different directions for every shot
What blew my mind was honestly just how obviously shittily made it was. Like, literally any idiot with a camera in their phone and Windows Movie Maker could have done just as "good" of an editing job. LITERALLY ANY idiot.
"Community theater", like Brian put it, is the perfect description. It's what I'd expect from a couple of high school kids messing around, not from the two biggest stars of a major international wrestling promotion.

Nah but there’s a certain performance aspect to it that we can buy. It’s almost like those movements are cues for the team to do his bidding. His never acknowledged dead historical figures
Similar. Both teleporting. But very different visually. Undertake is just flicking the lights on and off. Very fake but simple. Forgivable. Matt Hardy was literally “teleporting” all over the place blatantly right in front of our eyes outlandishly. It was WAY too much.
Edit: plus AEW isnt suppose to do this stuff. It’s suppose to NOT be sports entertainment and be “sports centric” hahaha.
Loser Brando AEW switched that whole sports centric mindset many months ago when they saw it doesn’t draw (someone show HHH the same thing lol)
However, can’t compare undertaker or even fiends teleporting AT ALL. Show a non fan all 3 of those and they will be laughing at Matt’s teleporting so hard. Corniest shit I’ve ever seen
Jordan with that logic, Brock sets off pyro by throwing his arms down. Cmon man that teleporting was BAD. Doing it lights out style made 100000% more sense, it is at least more believable. If you think they are the same thing, go back and look at Chris clearly shifting between scenes and try and tell me that isn’t insulting your intelligence. Would never throw on AEW when I’m hanging out with non fan friends if they are gonna see abysmal television like that. Even non fans find undertaker interesting because they make it work. Oh yeah not, smart is a term used to identify a section of the pro wrestling audience. It has nothing to do with intelligence. The very idea that such stupidity could be defended is tragic. It's because loser fans want to somehow feel like they're "involved" rather than sit back and watch the product as it's presented without snooping around for details online. The only thing worse than a "smart" fan is a fool so deluded that he refers to himself as a smart fan.

@@ronmilitello4934 granted yes, but it was funny to hear jericho respond to matt that way. matt also held a smirk in. but sometimes that type of comedy doesnt belong in a segment they were pushing to be so serious. it prob would have been different or not as over the top as it wasnt this bad in impact if their was an audience. but yes it sucked.

Matt Hardy's wizardry schtick just doesn't remotely fit with what AEW have been trying to do. All that talk about a sports based presentation immediately goes out of the window when Hardy is doing badly edited 'teleporting'.

Undertaker and Kane did the same stuff which wasn’t my taste but Cornette came up with Kane’s gimmick, and was on creative when Undertaker was turning to smoke in the coffins and reigning down lightning so he dosent have a podium to preach from. I agree it is silly and would rather they go with more of the mad man gimmick with Broken Matt. But that’s just me.
Matt Hardy sucks that's why
I really wished they'd film this so we could see Jims reaction.
Undertaker used to "teleport" when the lights went out. Kaine did the fire thing. We call this double standards
No because they could pull it off and Matt can't. He can't even pull off a fake english accent for fux sake.
No it's because both Taker and Kane actually looked intimidating while doing it. Matt looks like a regular human.
It was never once sold as teleporting, it was sold as if he snuck into the ring to scare his opponents.
I don’t think it’s double standards as much as it fits their gimmick. Taker is this undead mystic entity so it works in that regard. But I’d rather he just came from underneath the ring. Kanes whole gimmick is that he was burned in a fire and embraced it and is one with it. Not to mention taker only “teleports” once. Matts was pretty dumb. One teleport ok weird but sure but a bunch? Ok no.
@@taisou108 Eet ees not supposed to be an Eenglish accent, obsolete mule.
When i saw the 'teleportation' thing i knew Jim would flip his lid 😅 the drone was forgivable but the 'teleportation' was one of the worst things ive seen in many years.
Same. I couldn't wait to hear his take
Agreed. I liked the rest of the segment except for the teleporting.
Something that is overlooked is that Wyatt, Kane, Undertaker and the likes have all been billed with supernatural powers when they debuted (the characters, not the wrestlers) but for an adrenaline junkie to become this supernatural god is a bit iffy
The gimmick needs to be that he's crazy, drop the "powers" and all the extra gimmicky bs
100 percent agree with you.
christopher olivarez Agreed. I loved undead old west Undertaker.
@christopher olivarez the teleportation was super janky tho, it wasn't even done that well
Having him be crazy would just make him generic and unfunny. That's literally all that WWE did for the most part with their stupid "Woken Matt" run, which nobody liked except for the Utlimate Deletion between him and Bray, which was also the only thing that resembled the original Broken character from his run in TNA. I think your take just shows that you don't understand the appeal of the Broken gimmick.
If you had Broken Matt Hardy just in a room and didn't have anyone else to work with? He wouldn't be able to make gold from nothing. But the true entertainment value of Broken Matt Hardy, or Undertaker for that matter, is seeing characters that are more based in reality work with them. That's where the gold comes in.
It's not enough just to see Broken Matt speak to a boat. But when you see that boat break up a pin, and then the heel wrestlers go nuts over it and start attacking the boat shouting "fuck you boat!" That's the gold. The "Broken Universe" is something that is exclusive to Matt Hardy and his storylines, and it doesn't impact the realism of other characters or feuds. In fact, in order for the Broken character to be truly great, he has to play off of characters that are built upon realism. Just like Undertaker.
When you see Undertaker do that slow walk to the ring, there's not a lot to it by itself: but let's look at Summerslam 2008's Cage Match with Taker and Edge. What made Taker seem so great during that match, was Edge's acting. Taker is such a destructive, horrifying threat in Hell in A Cell, that it's enough to drive a normally calm and collected wrestlers like Edge, Shawn Michaels, hell, Triple H: it's enough to make all of them almost shit their pants, and they almost become different people. It's like knowing that you have to actually go and fight a supernatural force. And the greatness of him came from the fact that it wasn't just a facade. He wasn't just some tough guy who everyone was scared of: he was a *phenom*, an entity of pure destructive energy. Up until Lesnar, every wrestler who didn't take that seriously quickly perished, and rightfully so. In order to have even stood a chance against Taker, you had to believe in what he really was.
I guess my point is that, you don't have to necessarily be obsessed over be into a supernatural gimmick for a storyline *involving* a supernatural character to be interesting. And just making Matt Hardy crazy would make him generic, because there's already too many great instances of crazy or insane characters that exist right now, let alone in the past. The Broken gimmick is truly unique, and it's definitely one of the most original things that was produced in the world of Wrestling for the past decade. Hell, I'd say past five decades.
@@ToadySP it would not just be crazy, it would be schizo crazy, he'd actually think he was all these different people and then he'd eff with everyone but it wouldn't be janky teleportation, it'd be smoke and mirrors and actually have some realism to it so that the hokey bs wouldn't detract from his character.. and then you'd have him "break" that 4th wall like he wasn't really crazy so you'd have the audience wondering if he really was a bunch of personalities or was just doing it to eff with people and thus the circle keeps turning and he's essentially the same character but at least there's the "I could see that" at play
This was a horrible bit because Chris was being real and Matt was being corny and it didn't come off well.
I enjoyed it and thought it was great. Broken Matt Hardy is an excellent character.
Matt wasn’t being corny it’s his gimmick!
I thought the whole segment was amazing

Uh, Jim, teleporting wrestlers is old news. You and JR used to call it all the time with some Undertaker segments. Impact still does similar with James Mitchell, Rosemary and Su Yung. Why is it ok for Taker to do it but not Matt?

I hate the line “If WWE did it...” WWE has had 60yrs to throw horse shit at the wall...which they have,MANY times over. AEW has things I like and things I dont like but I also keep in mind that the company in it’s 6-7th month of business,I can give them room to find a solid presentation as opposed to a company who’s run everybody else out of business in order to be the sole profiteer yet still puts out a shitty product despite earning BILLIONS from wrestling fans over the years. 🙄 Stop it.
That line was more accurate than a sniper.
I mean the teleport is dumb, but honestly if they are going to do it they may as well do it when it’s an empty arena
3 years later and I'm still wondering why Matt Hardy didn't use these powers to win matches. Lol
You'd think he could travel back in time and prevent all of Jeff's legal issues
I have to disagree on this one Jim. Fans know his “teleporting” isn’t real just like they knew Undertaker couldn’t shoot lightning out of his hands. It just falls into that “entertainment” part of wrestling that you don’t like.

the point is that you're supposed to be able to suspend belief
i get what you two are saying. but i think both can be done in this day and age. like... let's take an example of how this has changed. used to be like if u book a guy to lose badly on his way out of the company, they would be buried, but now if u do that, people don't buy that kind of burial anymore. they're more into it and buy i to the fact that he is really good, and they were holding him down. i think that's how this industry has changed. there were crazy whacky characters like this in wrestling always, and i think in this day and age, people are more likely to accept it than ever before bcuz everyone knows what's going on and now u have to make it entertaining, whether u do it by making it look real or go full fiction.

@April Mc I agree with him in many respects that when you do these massive dives out of the ring every match or multiple times in a match, it delegitimizes the move. But yes if a match is left as just the standard 10-20 wrestling moves/holds, it does make a match pretty boring.
@@MrPicklescoop Cody and Dustin done a match basically from the 80s. I don't think a boring match will bring fans to tears. They told a great story in the ring and it got over. It's by far one of the best matches in AEW history.
@@Wadzillia agreed, it was a kickass match. The key is making sure to tell a compelling story with the match, which they did with the story going in AND the story in the ring. That's a perfect example of how to use the true techniques of wrestling. Often when wrestlers stick to the basics of wrestling it does come off boring, maybe they aren't telling enough of a story to me? But on the same note, I don't need EVERY match to have the "giant leap from the ring onto a gaggle of people" move. It makes it seems less impressive, especially when it's overdone.

since Kane started in wrestling, he's been "controlling" the pyro with his mind. I've never blinked an eye at that. why would Hardy doing the same thing be considered bad? and for the record I like both WWE and AEW along with my local indy promotion.
To be fair, Kane was doing that since the debut of the character, it was established that Kane did that. Matt Hardy debuted as a high flying adrenaline junkie, so it starts to get a little weird when you see the same guy suddenly having supernatural powers
I think that, to a certain degree, you have to consider a wrestler starting at a new promotion as something of a fresh slate. Wrestlers have changed their gimmicks when changing companies, and we have to let that go and not necessarily consider that it's the same person, so to speak.
The Ringmaster isn't The Rattlesnake. The Rhodes' aren't Goldust and Stardust. Brodi Lee isn't a member of the Wyatt family. Now with Matt Hardy, he is now the vessel for Damascus.

The inner tension of the elite would have concluded at Blood & Guts vs the inner circle and likely would be a quality match.
Moxley vs Omega did exactly what it needed to. They built it up for weeks and said exactly what they were gonna do so anyone complaining needs to shut up and watch PG WWE. They probably won't even need to do a match of a similar brutality for at least a year or two.

Storywise. Papa shango cursing ultimate warrior, he can just put poison on warrior's food and pretend he cursed him
Storywise. Bray Wyatt with puppets, he's a serial murderer who forces people to play his puppets or else he will beat them up
